When Razer busted into the tech scene with a gaming smartphone, the company came with lots of prospects. It was soon to get several rivals in the Black Shark, ASUS ROG. Razer would soon follow up the first model with the Razer Phone 2 which came with several improvements. Away from the razzmatazz of a phone launch, Razer may be in deep water financially. There are reports that the company has laid off some of its workforce in order to limit its running cost.
According to tech blog Droid Life, Razer laid off up to 30 employees which represent about two percent of its total workforce. Razer has business concerns in other tech products apart from mobile phones but the report claims that the 30 employees are connected mostly with the mobile division at Razer. This could only mean that the Razer Phone 3 may have been halted.
Razer issued a press statement confirming that it laid off several employees in its mobile division, The statement also clarified that some workers were reassigned to other projects within the company. As a ray of hope, the gaming phone manufacturer hinted that it still sees great opportunities in the mobile gaming space and will continue to invest in this category through a combination of hardware and software initiative. The company also stated that they were working on new exciting mobile projects and details will be shared when the products are ready. The statement also disclosed that the Razer Phone 2 will continue to be on sale and will get the latest updates and features. But in an era where attention is shifting to foldable phones, we do hope a high level of interest is sustained for gaming phones. That is the only way Razer’s mobile division and other gaming phone makers can stay afloat and become profitable.
The Realme 3 is expected to launch in March. This will be the sixth phone from the brand which launched last year. A few of the phone’s specs have been confirmed by the manufacturer and now live photos have leaked online.
Yesterday, Realme CEO, Madhav Sheth shared an image of a phone with vertically arranged dual rear cameras. At the moment, there is no Realme smartphone with that camera arrangement which means the phone in the image is most likely the upcoming Realme 3.
Also, the phone is shown in a case which has the popular diamond-cut design of the Realme 1. It turns out that Realme is not only teasing its upcoming phone but also one of its accessories.
Since the Realme 3 is inside a case in the above image, what does it actually look like? These live images from The Leaker show that the device will come in starry blue and starry purple gradient colors. We are not sure if the back is covered in glass or plastic seeing as the Realme 2 Pro does look like its covered in glass but is actually plastic all over.
[envira-gallery id=”237640″]
The images also confirm the phone will have a 3.5mm audio jack at the bottom. There is a USB port too but we are not sure if it is MicroUSB or Type-C. We also already know from the image above shared by the CEO that the phone will come with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Xiaomi Mi 8 was the Chinese phone maker’s flagship for last year. Despite the emergence of the Mi 9 yesterday, the Mi 8 still remains a highly desirable, sleek and powerful smartphone. Despite the high-end features it packs, the Mi 9 comes with several improvements over the Mi 8. So, fans would generally shift attention to the new flagship. Well, except they see a good offer that’s too hot to ignore. That is what Xiaomi is planning to do by slashing the price of the Mi 8 by a huge 500 yuan ($74).
The 500 yuan ($74) price cut was announced today by Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun on his Weibo page. The price cut only affects the Mi 8 screen fingerprint version and that is because the current price overlaps with the 2999 yuan starting price of the Mi 9. The new price regime cuts across all the variants of the Mi 8 screen fingerprint variant and is presently in force on Xiaomi’s offline and online stores. Thus, the 6GB+128GB version will retail for 2499 yuan while the 8GB+128GB version will sell for 2899 yuan.
It is worth noting that the Mi 8 Screen fingerprint version comes with a transparent back just like the Mi 8 Explorer edition. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s 2018 flagship chipset – Snapdragon 845. There is no doubt that the device is a value for money phone.
TCL-owned Alcatel has a bunch of mid-range phones planned for the year. The new lineup includes the Alcatel 1s which we reported a few weeks ago, the Alcatel 1V, and 2019 models of the Alcatel 3 and Alcatel 3V. The whole lineup including their specs were leaked by Evan Blass (@evleaks) today.
Alcatel 1s
The Alcatel 1s has a 5.56-inch HD+ display with a screen-to-body ratio of 81.3%. Just as we reported a few weeks ago, the Alcatel 1s is powered by Spreadtrum’s SC9863A 1.6GHz octa-core (Cortex-A55) processor. There is 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage paired with it.
The Alcatel 1s has a 13MP primary camera that is interpolated to 16MP on its rear along with a 2MP sensor for capturing depth of field details. In front is a 5MP camera interpolated to 8MP with its own LED flash.
It packs a 3,060mah battery, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and runs Android Pie. It also has Face Key, Alcatel’s version of Face Unlock. The front of the phone is covered with 2.5D glass while the back is made of plastic with a brushed metal finish.
Alcatel 1V
The Alcatel 1V joins the Alcatel 1C as an Android Go phone but it runs the more recent Android Pie (Go Edition). I guess you know which to buy now.
The 1V has a 5.5-inch WVGA+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by an unnamed octa-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. There is an 8MP camera (interpolated to 13MP) on the back of the phone and a 5MP camera (interpolated to 8MP) with its own LED flash in front.
The Alcatel 1V also has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 2,460mAh battery. It will come in blue with a metallic finish.
Alcatel 3 (2019)
The 2019 Alcatel 3 brings a number of new features when compared to the last year’s model. The screen is now bigger at 5.94-inches and it has a notch now – the U type just like that of the Essential PH-1. This results in the top bezel getting shaved off. Alcatel says it has a screen-to-body ratio of 89.6%.
There is a Snapdragon 450 processor along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. A single 13MP camera sits on the back with an LED flash and fingerprint scanner underneath it. The front camera is an 8MP sensor.
The battery is also bigger now at 3500mAh. The front of the phone is covered with 2.5D glass. The rear has an OPVM processing finish for a premium and glossy appearance.
Alcatel 3C
The Alcatel 3C isn’t as powerful as the Alcatel 3 but it packs a much larger display – 6.7-inches to be precise! There is no notch but the bezels are moderately sized. The display is an IPS panel with an HD+ resolution.
Under its 3D textured back is MediaTek’s MTK8321 quad-core processor – a 1.3GHz chipset released back in 2017 for tablets. There is 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It has a single 8MP rear camera at the top left corner and there is a fingerprint scanner in the middle. It also has support for Face Key.
The Alcatel 3C packs a measly 3,000mAh battery for its size. Thankfully, it runs Android Pie.
Alcatel 3L
The Alcatel 3L has a 5.9-inch HD+ display with a notch at the top for a screen-to-body ratio of 88.4%. It is powered by the Snapdragon 429 along with 2GB of RAM. Storage is 16GB but should be expandable.
It has dual rear cameras – 13MP + 5MP – with PDAF, real-time bokeh, a single-tone LED flash and AI features. The front camera is an 8MP sensor with LCD flash to illuminate your face when taking selfies.
Its battery is even bigger than that of the gigantic Alcatel 3C at 3500mAh. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner which is weird considering even the Alcatel 1V Android Go phone has one. It also runs Android Oreo although Alcatel says Android Pie will be available.
The phone has 2.5D glass in front and a metallic finish for the rear.
Alcatel 3V (2019)
The last but not the least is the 2019 version of the Alcatel 3V which technically is a beefed-up version of the 3C and a downgrade of some sort of last year’s model.
It has the same massive 6.7-inch HD+ 18:9 display, down from last year’s FHD+ panel. It is powered by an unnamed octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
There is a dual-camera setup on the back which is made up of a 16MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. The selfie camera is an 8MP sensor. Unlike the 3C which has a 3,000mAh battery, the 3V packs a 4000mAh battery. It also stereo speakers, Face Key, and a fingerprint scanner. The back has a 3D textured finish.
Xiaomi Mi 9 is finally official and it represents the first real flagship of 2019 released by a mainstream Chinese company. But this does not mean that it is actually the best Chinese smartphone out there. Excellent devices were announced even in the second half of 2018, some of which are at the same level as the Mi 9. Two of them are Lenovo Z5 Pro GT and Huawei Mate 20 Pro. The former is one of the world’s first phones to be equipped with the Snapdragon 855 chipset, while the latter is considered by many people as the best camera phone ever released. Will the Xiaomi Mi 9 be even better than the best devices released in the second half of 2018? This comparison will clear your ideas about it.
Xiaomi Mi 9 vs Lenovo Z5 Pro GT vs Huawei Mate 20 Pro
Xiaomi Mi 9
Lenovo Z5 Pro GT
Huawei Mate 20 Pro
DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT
157.5 x 74.7 x 7.6 mm, 173 g
155.1 x 73 x 9.3 mm, 210 g
157.8 x 72.3 x 8.6 mm, 189 g
DISPLAY
6.39 inches, 1080 x 2340p (Full HD+), Super AMOLED
6.39 inches, 1080 x 2340p (Full HD+), Super AMOLED
Due to its big notch and its 2×2 matrix on the back, I do not like the design of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro so much. Xiaomi Mi 9 and Lenovo Z5 Pro GT have a definitely better look and they are also among the most beautiful handsets. If I had to choose, I would award the originality of the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT. It is a device with a screen-to-body ratio close to 100 percent without even sporting a notch, thanks to its slider design. However, it is not as elegant as the Xiaomi Mi 9 which boasts a gorgeous glass back that changes its colors depending on the viewing angle. Coming to the build quality, Huawei Mate 20 Pro is my favorite one because it is the only one with a waterproof certification (IP68).
Display
Even though Xiaomi Mi 9 has an amazing display with very accurate color reproduction, Huawei Mate 20 Pro boasts the most impressive panel. It comes with the highest resolution (Quad HD+), as well as DCI-P3 coverage and HDR10 technology, so it should provide the highest level of detail and the most accurate colors. The display is not the strongest point of the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT, but it still has an above-average Super AMOLED panel and it is notch-less. Unfortunately, none of these phones comes with stereo speakers, neither a 3.5 mm jack.
Hardware/Software
From what benchmarks revealed, Snapdragon 855 should be the most performing chipset in the whole Android market. That is why Xiaomi Mi 9 and Lenovo Z5 Pro GT should be faster and smoother than Huawei Mate 20 Pro, but we still had no chance to make a comparison. In detail, Lenovo Z5 Pro GT in its most expensive variant should be the handset with the highest performances. Indeed, it sports 12 GB of RAM that is the highest amount of volatile memory ever mounted on a phone. It even comes with up to 512 GB of internal storage. However, it is still based on Android Oreo out of the box, and that is bad for a so powerful flagship.
Camera
According to benchmarks and judging from the specs on the paper, Huawei Mate 20 Pro should still have the best triple rear camera ever seen on a Chinese phone. But Xiaomi put a lot of efforts on the cameras of its latest flagship, so there should not be so much difference between the Mi 9 and the Mate 20 Pro in terms of photo quality. It may be even better in some scenarios. Lenovo Z5 Pro GT is not among the best camera phones, so we exclude it from this comparison.
Battery
One of the strong point of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro compared to other flagships is the battery. It has a 4200 mAh unit, the biggest in the actual Chinese flagship segment. So it lasts much more than Xiaomi Mi 9 and Lenovo Z5 Pro GT, despite its display and many of its components should be less efficient. Both Xiaomi Mi 9 and Lenovo Z5 Pro GT come with a 3300 mAh battery, so there should be only marginal differences between their battery life on a single charge. Unlike its rivals, Huawei Mate 20 Pro supports both wireless charging and reverse wireless charging (you can use it as a power bank).
Price
Huawei Mate 20 Pro undoubtedly wins this comparison, but it costs more. You can find it at about €880/$1000, while Xiaomi Mi 9 and Lenovo Z5 Pro GT start from about €400/$455 in the Asian market.
Best Tips On How To Design Your 404 Page To Keep The Visitor On Your Website
How many times had you come across a message that the requested page does not exist? And what steps did you used to take in such a situation?
We bet that you will simply close the tab and leave without even trying to figure out why this had happened.
Now imagine that this situation is happening on your own website. Every time your visitors encounter 404 error, you are most likely to lose your potential client!
And basically, people leave not because of the fact they encountered the error, but because your 404 error page is poorly designed and doesn’t encourage the visitor to continue engaging with your website!
You don’t have to create some unusual and well-designed 404 error page on your website, but this little thing can change the attitude of your visitors for the better. And this, of course, would positively affect your website’s conversion and help your visitors to make the right decision about the purchase or ordering services from you.
Try Weblium AI website builder now to create a perfect website that will meet all your requirements!
So now we will give you the most important tips on how to design your 404 page to make the visitor remember it for a long time, and, who knows, maybe it will even become viral!
Why 404web page design is so important
There are many reasons why you should be concerned about your 404-webpage design. If it just says something like “Page not found”, it wouldn’t be of any useor interestfor the visitor. The fact is that even the “Back to homepage” link does not always help here.
Poorly designed 404 web page creates a poor impression of the visitor. Just imagine: all this time he was looking for a certain page on your site, but then he hits the broken link, and he will be forced to return to the website’s main page and start searching all over again. If he doesn’t find what he is looking for, he will immediately leave the website.
Ideally, the user will never encounter such errors… But that happens! Anyway, creatively designed 404 web page with the interesting text block gives you the chance to say that use are sorry for this situation and help your website’s visitor find what he is looking for. A satisfied visitor will most likely return to your website!
The situation gets much worse if the 404 page is completely lost. The visitor will have no idea what is happening. The absence of such a page will show that the website’s owners aren’t the real professionals, that they do not care much about the website’s visitors, so he will leave the website.
Now try to understand the main thing: custom, creative, useful, and attractive 404 page design attracts the people’s attention and inspires them to stay on your website longer.
Let’s take a brief look at the basic techniques used by web designers and UI specialists to optimize these error pages on the websites. With proper optimization, even the 404 page can become a good landing page, successfully sell the product and attract website visitors.
«Classic» rules for designing the 404 page
There are some «classic» rules for designing the 404 page. Remember that there’s no need to reinvent the wheel – you just make it simple and clear:
Placing the logo and the name of the site, company, project allows the visitor to understand that the site is still working. He just clicks on the logo and gets redirected to the main page.
Placing the message that clearly tells the visitor what has happened and (preferably) what to do next.
Creating a noticeable button that takes the visitor to the main page of the site.
Placing the contact information of the website owner, so that if the visitor wants to contact him, he can easily do it.
Integrating the Icons of social networks – once a person came to visit you, it would be really nice to offer him to follow you on social networks.
Choose a design that perfectly matches the style of your website
In order not to confuse the website’s user, you should style your 404 page in a similar way as the entire site is designed.
This creates the integrity of the virtual space of your web-resource, and it is crucial for the visitor, who is searching the answers for his questions here.
Always remember that you can go for creative, minimalistic design – that’s the 404 page timeless classics!
Post a link to the main page of the site
If you own a large website, with lots of web pages with different content, then the 404 page that contains the site map, links to the most visited pages or a simple search bar will help your visitor to find the way out.
The correct 404 page of a small site should offer a link to the website’s main page and a menu to help the visitor with the question «what should I do» and will be able to continue using your website.
Design your page 404 in a creative way
An interesting and funny 404 page is the proven way to get the visitor to react with humor and the best way to convince him to stay. But the 404 page text doesn’t necessarily has to be humorous, you can also add some interesting images of relevant content.
This page perfectly suits for expressing unusual creative ideas that are inappropriate in other sections of the website. Just browse the Web and you’ll find many great examples of the 404 error page design: according to statistics, only the 404 page text (without any images) decreases the number of visitors who leave the website by 2-3 times. Can you imagine how many visitors you lose when you are too lazy to design a 404 page properly and do not allow a visitor to take any action other than closing the browser tab?! Think about it.
And one more important thing: interesting and beautiful 404 page design smooth out the negative visitor’s reaction and allows to slightly improve behavioral factors.
And remember to keep it simple! The 404 page design should be simple and even funny. Once again – it’s just like you are apologizing for a funny, awkward situation.
The amazing 404 page design van even make your visitors to send it to their friends!
Explain the cause of the 404 error
Do not forget to briefly tell the visitor why he had encountered this problem.
After all, not everyone knows what a 404 error is and what they should do in this situation. But avoid going onto technical details: make it short, clear and creative!
Make your 404 page helpful
Make it maximally helpful for the user. You can apply the following elements:
Search bar
Link to home page
List of most popular pages
Link to site map
Bad Link Message Button.
You can always find ways to turn the common 404 page into a very useful webpage – both for yourself and for the visitor. You’ll just have to think creatively! For example, the excellent idea for this page for online stores is placing some similar or recently viewed products on the 404 page.
Be friendly, be clear
Be friendly and polite. Don’t think that everyone knows what the 404 error is.
You really have to explain what happened, what the problem is, but in a quite a friendly manner. Try to say something like: “Oops! We cannot find the page you are looking for.”, than something really dull like: “404 error. Page not found”.
Here are some options for your 404 page message:
“Congrats! You were so lucky to visit the only website page that no longer exists! Try other website pages to find what you were looking for!
“404… We are so sorry, but this page was lost somewhere in the galaxy of the Web. Stop looking for it, try pages that do exist!”
“My friend, it’s a pity, but we could not find the page you were looking for…”
“Are you looking for something interesting on our website? Unfortunately, the page you request does not exist anymore… “
“Welcome to page 404! You can hardly find something interesting here, but you will surely find a lot of interesting things on other pages of our Website! ”.
Give your visitor an explanation of why this happened
You won’t believe it, but usually, you won’t find even the simplest test block on 404 page!
The owners of the website simply use something dull like this: “Error 404. The page does not exist or it has been deleted”, leaving the visitor confused.
We are pretty sure that the owner of the website can at least try to explain what happened (if he really cares about the website visitors).
Here are some examples:
“…The page you requested may have been moved or deleted. Maybe you’ve made a small typo when entering the address – this happens even with us sometimes, so carefully check the address again”.
“…Most likely, this happened for one of the following reasons: the page has moved, the page no longer exists or you just like to study 404 pages”.
Tell the visitor what to do next
You can always redirect the visitor to the home page of the website (or any other popular page, if it will help him find what he was looking for). Or, you can offer the visitor to use the integrated search bar to find the things he needs.
You can place some helpful text here:
“…Please, use this search to find the information you need”.
“…Click here to visit the main page, where you can find a lot of useful information”.
“…Please use the navigation or search to find the information you are interested in”.
Additional tips
Avoid the phrases like “Error 404” (the word “error” can scare away a visitor), choose a softer “Page 404” version of it instead.

Apple slashed the prices of its smartphones in China due to weakening sales. While it did pick up for a few weeks, analysts are of the opinion that it won’t do much to change things overall.
The Chinese smartphone market recorded a drop in sales of 12.8% year-on-year with Apple and Samsung accounting for 50% of that figure. Apple decided to cut the price of its 2017 and 2018 phones which actually resulted in an increase in sales. However, analysts from Rosenblatt Securities and UBS have said the drop in prices won’t have a significant impact on overall sales.
Jun Zhang, the Rosenblatt analysts said: “After analyzing recent data points from Chinese retail channels, we believe price cuts provided little benefit to iPhone sales in the Chinese market”. He added that a “lack of design changes” in the market won’t increase demand.
UBS’s Timothy Arcuri is reported to have said “…..Apple’s price adjustments to offset the currency impact are not yet having much positive impact on iPhone units,”. However, he believes February and march will be “more important indicators”.
During the launch of the Galaxy S10 series yesterday, Samsung made a startling revelation about the sales of the Galaxy S series. Samsung has been silent about sales figures all this while but the company’s CEO DJ Koh disclosed that the tech giant has sold a whopping 2 billion Galaxy smartphones since the first set of models first left the factory in 2010
This revelation explains why Samsung has remained the number one smartphone manufacturer globally The Korean company has continued to hold this title since 2012. A few years back, Samsung looked untouchable on top of the charts but not anymore. Chinese giant Huawei is presently mounting a strong push for the top spot. With the several controversies bedevilling Huawei, that may not happen anytime soon.
DJ Koh did not break down the sales figures but it is believed that it encompasses all Galaxy models ranging from the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note and perhaps the Galaxy A, Galaxy C, Galaxy J, and Galaxy On lineups among others. Also noteworthy, is the closeness of Samsung’s Galaxy phone sales to Apple’s announcement back in September that it had sold almost 2 billion iOS devices since 2007. Samsung may have even performed better as this figure is for the Galaxy phones but Apple’s figure includes iPad and iPod shipments whereas Samsung’s is just smartphones. In addition, while Apple iPhones went on sale in 2007, Samsung rolled out the first Galaxy S smartphones in 2010, three years later. So, an impressive feat it is.
