Samsung has its tri-fold ready, but thinks the world isn’t ready for it

Samsung has reportedly finished developing its first tri-fold smartphone — but it’s not rushing to release it. According to a company executive, the device is production-ready, but its launch depends on a bigger question: is there enough demand for it?

Samsung tri-fold

In a recent interview with Android Authority, a Samsung executive confirmed that the tri-fold phone, expected to be called the Galaxy G Fold, is fully designed and technically ready for mass production. However, the company is waiting to see if consumers are actually interested in a device like this before moving forward.

“We’ve had a tri-fold for some time, designed and everything. So it’s not a new concept to us. What we’re debating is the viability. When I say the viability, is there really a demand for this form factor?” This careful approach suggests Samsung is wary of pushing a product too far ahead of its time.

Unlike Huawei’s Mate XT (review), which launched with an S-shaped outward folding screen for around $2,800, Samsung’s version uses a G-shaped fold. This design includes two inward-folding hinges to better protect the flexible display, though it also requires a separate cover screen. The G Fold is expected to cost over $3,000 when it launches — significantly more than the Galaxy Z Fold7’s $1,999 price — due to its complex engineering and materials.

Galaxy G Fold design (leaked)

Reports suggest Samsung might quietly release the device in limited quantities in South Korea and China later this year, possibly starting production in September to test market interest.

Powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 chip and expected to feature a large 10-inch AMOLED screen when unfolded, the G Fold would go head-to-head with Huawei’s 10.2-inch Mate XT. Still, the market for such devices remains niche — tri-fold phones accounted for just 1% of global smartphone sales in 2024, according to Counterpoint Research. Samsung appears concerned that despite the innovation, most users aren’t ready to adopt this kind of form factor.

The company has reportedly addressed common concerns, equipping the G Fold with a titanium frame and an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance. But the question remains: are these features enough to justify its premium price?

Honor Magic 8 Pro leak suggests flat display, 7000mAh battery, and 200MP camera

Honor’s upcoming flagship, the Magic 8 Pro, has made its way to the leak mill, and it looks like the company is doubling down on battery life and camera specs.

The details come via well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, who shared a list of key hardware features, including a large battery, upgraded sensors, and a new chipset.

Honor Magic 7 Pro

Magic 8 Pro might come with a bigger battery than expected

According to the leak, the Magic 8 Pro will feature a 6.71-inch flat display—a slight size reduction from the Magic 7 Pro’s 6.8-inch curved LTPO OLED panel. There’s no word yet on resolution or brightness, but if Honor follows last year’s trend, we can expect a high refresh rate and PWM dimming to reduce eye strain.

Under the hood, the phone is rumored to ship with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. The new chip reportedly scores over 4,000 points in single-core tests and upwards of 11,000 points in multi-core runs.

As for the camera, the Magic 8 Pro might retain the 200MP telephoto lens from its predecessor. The tipster, however, says the main and telephoto cameras have been “significantly upgraded,” so there could be a new sensor or image processing stack in use.

The leak also suggests the phone will feature a battery of around 7,000mAh. Its predecessor featured a 5,850mAh cell. Fast charging might stay in the same ballpark, with 80W or 100W wired support, though wireless charging details weren’t mentioned.

Last but not least, alongside the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, the Magic 8 Pro will reportedly retain 3D face recognition.

There’s no mention yet of satellite connectivity, materials, or display certifications. But if Honor continues on the same design path, the device could offer a similar IP68/IP69 rating and a premium glass build.

How Galaxy Z Fold 7 improved over its predecessors

Samsung’s foldable game has always been about refinement. From the chunky, experimental Galaxy Fold to the sleeker, more durable Fold 5, the evolution has been steady if not explosive.

But with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Samsung has finally gone bold again. This is not just another annual refresh. It’s a design rethink, a spec overhaul, and a full-on reintroduction of the Fold series into the flagship spotlight.

1. The Fold That Finally Feels Complete

Galaxy Z Fold 7

The most obvious improvement is the form factor. The Z Fold 7 is Samsung’s thinnest and lightest Fold ever, measuring just 4.2mm when open and 8.9mm folded, and weighing 215g, even lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. That difference is tangible. The Fold 7 no longer feels like two phones sandwiched together. It feels like one coherent device.

And it’s not just about being lighter. The cover screen has grown to 6.5 inches with a taller 21:9 aspect ratio, addressing long-standing complaints about the Fold series’ narrow outer display. The main display is now a full 8 inches, 11% larger than before, and yes, both displays peak at a stunning 2600 nits, matching the Fold 6 but offering better usability in bright environments.

Crucially, the inside under-display camera (UDC) is gone. That hazy 4MP compromise has been replaced by a clean 10MP shooter. It’s still not flagship-quality, but at least it doesn’t get in the way.

2. Big Camera Moves

Galaxy Z Fold 7

Speaking of cameras, Samsung finally gave the Fold the upgrade it deserved. The Fold 7 swaps the long-running 50MP sensor for a massive 200MP camera, the same one that impressed on the S24 Ultra. It still pairs with a 12MP ultra-wide and a 10MP 3x telephoto lens, but image quality, especially detail in well-lit scenes, takes a meaningful step forward.

If you were waiting for a Fold that could double as a true flagship camera phone, this is it.

3. More Power, More AI, Less Compromise

Galaxy Z Fold 7

The Fold 7 is also the first Samsung phone to use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, replacing the Gen 3 for Galaxy found in the Fold 6. It’s built on a more efficient 3nm node and delivers slightly higher peak CPU and GPU speeds, but it’s what Samsung’s doing with that power that stands out.

One UI 8 (based on Android 16) adds a slate of AI features built for big screens. You get enhanced photo editing with “Suggest Erases,” AI-powered background noise removal in videos, multimodal Gemini Live for contextual queries, and tools like “Drag & Drop” AI content generation.

For creative professionals, Drawing Assist and Writing Assist actually make good use of the expansive screen real estate, even without the S Pen, which is gone, by the way, in favor of a thinner chassis.

4. Built to Last, Actually

Galaxy Z Fold 7

Durability has always been the Fold’s Achilles heel, but Samsung has clearly learned from earlier iterations. The Z Fold 7 introduces Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the cover screen, a new material with embedded crystals for better crack resistance, and keeps Victus 2 on the back.

Galaxy Z Fold 7

The hinge is now slimmer and sturdier thanks to a redesigned multi-rail structure, and the display adds a titanium plate and 50% thicker Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG). The crease has also been refined; it’s shallower and less noticeable, both visually and to the touch, thanks to a more relaxed folding arc. The phone still has an IP48 rating, a notable improvement over the IPX8 of the Fold 5.

That combination makes this the most robust Fold yet, with fewer trade-offs than ever before.

5. What’s Not New

Some things haven’t changed. The 4400mAh battery, 25W wired charging, and 15W wireless charging setup remains unchanged since the Fold 4. That’s fine, but it’s becoming a little outdated in a world of 45W+ fast charging and 5000mAh+ foldables.

And while Samsung made huge strides with AI and design, multitasking hasn’t gotten a dramatic overhaul; the taskbar and split-screen features are refined but not radically different from last year.

6. Pricing and Verdict

The Fold 7 starts at $1999.99, keeping in line with Samsung’s ultra-premium pricing strategy. That makes it pricier than the Fold 6 at launch, which started at $1899. But you’re getting a reworked design, upgraded internals, significantly better cameras, and a smarter software experience. It’s the first Fold in years that actually feels like a new generation, not just a polished rerun.

Compared to the Fold 5 and Fold 6, the Fold 7 is thinner, lighter, faster, smarter, and more camera-capable. In short, it’s the best Fold Samsung has ever made. The only real question now is whether that’s enough to make foldables mainstream, or if the category will remain a premium niche chasing perfection.

Six Months Later, the OnePlus 13 Still Feels Like a Flagship Worth Buying

Back in March, I reviewed the OnePlus 13 after using it for over a month. Now, five months later, having used the phone every single day, I can say my thoughts haven’t changed. In fact, I’ve grown to appreciate it even more.

And with the Amazon Prime Day sale bringing a ₹10,000 discount, this feels like the perfect time to talk about why I still recommend the OnePlus 13.

OnePlus 13 Arctic Dawn

1. Reliable Performance That Hasn’t Slowed Down

The OnePlus 13 still feels fast and fluid, just like it did on day one. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and even after months of updates, daily multitasking, gaming, and media usage, I haven’t seen any signs of slowdown or stuttering.

Battery life has also been great. I easily get a day with moderate to heavy use. And when it’s low, the 100W SuperVOOC charger gets it back to full in around 40 minutes. Wireless charging is available too, which adds a nice layer of convenience.

Please Note: When you buy something using the links in our articles, we may earn a small commission at no cost to you.

2. A Design That Grows on You

When I first unboxed the OnePlus 13, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the flat frame. I was used to the curved sides of the OnePlus 12, and I assumed the flat edges would be uncomfortable. But after a few days, I stopped noticing. In fact, the flat design actually makes it easier to hold and I rarely have accidental touches now.

The display is big, sharp, and smooth. The 6.82-inch QHD+ 120Hz panel makes everything look great. It’s not the absolute brightest screen out there, but it performs very well, both indoors and outside.

I’ve been using the Arctic Dawn variant, which looks clean and minimal. But I’d recommend the Midnight Ocean version. That one comes with a vegan leather back, which offers better grip than the frosted glass.

3. Cameras Are Solid, With Some Small Quirks

The OnePlus 13 doesn’t make huge jumps over the 12 in the camera department, but the changes are noticeable once you get used to them.

In daylight, all three rear cameras take crisp and colorful photos. The color consistency across the main, telephoto, and ultrawide sensors is really well done. Low-light shots are also decent, though not class-leading.

I do have mixed feelings about the new periscope telephoto lens. While it’s technically better than the previous one, it has a high minimum focus distance. This means you can’t get too close to your subject for zoomed-in macro shots. Also, extreme zoom photos sometimes look a bit processed or artificial. Still, for casual photography, the phone does more than enough.

Video recording is smooth and stable. The only part that feels a little outdated is the selfie camera, which still lacks autofocus. It’s fine for video calls and basic selfies, but I hope OnePlus improves this in the next version.

4. Simple, Smooth Software That Gets Updates

OxygenOS 15, based on Android 15, has been a joy to use. It’s smooth, minimal, and doesn’t come with any annoying bloatware. The animations feel fluid, and the system is stable.

OnePlus has also committed to four major Android updates and six years of security updates. That kind of long-term support gives consumers peace of mind that this phone won’t feel outdated anytime soon.

5. Extras That Actually Matter

A few little things have really made the OnePlus 13 experience better over time. The new alert slider feels more premium. The dual stereo speakers are loud and clear, which is great for video and music. The phone also has IP68 and IP69 ratings, so I’ve used it in the rain, showers, and pools without worry.

Also worth noting is the ecosystem. OnePlus now has smartwatches, tablets, and earbuds that work well together. If you’re into a connected experience, this adds value that some other Chinese brands still don’t offer globally.

And finally, there’s something OnePlus does that no other brand does. They offer a lifetime warranty against green-line display issues. With OLED panels becoming more prone to screen defects lately, this is a huge plus.

6. Final Thoughts: An Easy Recommendation, Now More Than Ever

The OnePlus 13 might not be perfect, but it nails the fundamentals. It’s fast, reliable, well-built, and gets better with time. If you’re someone who wants a phone that just works and keeps working, this is a fantastic choice.

At its launch price, it was already competitive. With the ₹10,000 Amazon Prime Day discount, it’s one of the best flagship deals available in India right now.

If you’re thinking about upgrading to a high-end smartphone that gives you premium features without the premium pricing headache, the OnePlus 13 is still an easy “yes” for me — even half a year later.

Two Marvel x Fossil Fantastic Four Watches Revealed, Including New Galactus Model

Fossil has announced two watches in its limited-edition Marvel x Fossil Fantastic Four collection. The first model is based on Reed Richards’ wrist-computer from the upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps movie. The second, launching on July 14, 2025, is inspired by the cosmic villain Galactus.

The latest addition to the collection, the Galactus watch, features a large 48 mm case with artwork from Super-Villain Classics: Galactus The Origin #1. The dial shows a glowing outline of Galactus against a galaxy background. The case back has a full-color image of the character and an engraved limited edition number. It runs on a quartz three-hand movement.

The watch includes a purple metal-link strap that complements the central dial design. It comes in custom packaging with a Silver Surfer lapel pin and a certificate of authenticity. Only 683 units have been made.

The first watch in the series, model number LE1210SET, is a replica of Reed Richards’ retro-futuristic tech wrist-computer as seen in the film. It combines a negative digital display at the top with an analog dial powered by quartz movement and three matte black hands. The case is made of silver-colored stainless steel and measures 32 mm. It comes with a black leather strap. The Fantastic Four logo is engraved on both the case back and strap. It is water resistant up to 3ATM and runs on a V371MF battery.

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE makes a real-life appearance ahead of launch

Samsung may have just wrapped up its Galaxy Unpacked event, but it looks like the company isn’t slowing down. A new device, possibly the Galaxy S25 FE, has appeared in the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) database, suggesting that a launch may be imminent.

The listing confirms that the phone will support Qi2 wireless charging, which isn’t much of a surprise given Samsung’s recent flagship lineup. Still, the certification offers more than just a spec sheet; it also includes a live image of the device.

While the photo lacks the polish of a press render, it offers a first look at the hardware. The front shows a centered punch-hole selfie camera and relatively slim bezels, in line with Samsung’s recent design language. On the back, the S25 FE features a triple-camera array arranged vertically, similar to its predecessor.

What the specs suggest so far

According to prior reports, the Galaxy S25 FE is expected to feature a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel likely offers an FHD+ resolution, though that detail wasn’t included in the certification listing.

Earlier this week, the device also made an appearance on Geekbench, showing up with the Exynos 2400 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and Android 16 onboard. It’s expected to pack a 4,700mAh battery with support for 45W wired fast charging.

The camera setup might remain unchanged from its predecessor: a 50MP main sensor, 12MP ultrawide, and 8MP telephoto lens. The front camera is reportedly a 12MP shooter.

With hardware certifications starting to surface, the S25 FE’s launch may not be far off. But as usual, Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything yet.

Xiaomi NAS and 16 Ultra are expected to launch together in December

Xiaomi has a habit of catching people off guard, and it looks like it’s about to do it again. If the latest leaks are to be believed, the company is planning an unusually ambitious end to 2025: not only will it launch the Xiaomi 16 Ultra earlier than expected, but it will also step into uncharted territory with its first Network Attached Storage (NAS) device.

Xiaomi NAS

According to tipster Smart Pikachu, the two products are expected to debut together in December, forming what could be Xiaomi’s most consequential hardware moment of the year. For a company that’s spent over a decade building one of the most expansive consumer tech ecosystems in China, adding a NAS to the mix seems like a natural, if long overdue, evolution. But the origin story of this device is anything but typical.

Xiaomi NAS Smart Pikachu

Apparently, Xiaomi didn’t originally plan to make a NAS at all. The idea came from an unexpected spark: a marketing image for one of its 10G routers. The visual, subtly hinting at a NAS setup, triggered a flood of online comments and community feedback. That accidental tease lit the fuse. According to Ecological Chain General Manager Chen Bo, the user demand that followed was so overwhelming it forced Xiaomi to pivot. Now, a full-fledged NAS product is nearly here, with mass production expected to begin in October..

This won’t be a high-end, geeky data server built for enterprise or prosumer use. Xiaomi is reportedly designing its NAS as a plug-and-play solution for regular users. Think automatic photo backup, easy streaming to TVs, centralized family storage, and simple Apple device compatibility. It’s storage made simple, not storage made technical, and it fits squarely into Xiaomi’s bigger vision of a seamlessly interconnected smart home.

The December launch window also reflects broader changes across the industry. Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon chip is arriving ahead of schedule, which has disrupted the usual calendar for flagship phones. Xiaomi, like many other OEMs, is realigning its timing. The Xiaomi 16 Ultra, which traditionally shows up around February, now looks set to land by year’s end. That timing syncs perfectly with the NAS release, giving Xiaomi a tightly packed and high-stakes moment to cap off 2025.

Galaxy Z Flip 7 Debuts with Larger Cover Screen, Joined by Affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE

Samsung has officially unveiled two new clamshell foldables alongside the flagship Galaxy Z Fold 7. The flagship Galaxy Z Flip 7 is the premium model with various upgrades over its predecessor, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is the first of its kind value value-focused flip phone from Samsung.

1. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7

The South Korean tech giant has made a few small but noticeable changes to the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Samsung’s older Galaxy Z Flip 6 was one of the smaller flip phones with a smaller 6.7-inch main folding display. But the Galaxy Z Flip 7 bumps it up to a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, and 2600 nits of peak brightness.

Even the cover screen is getting taller as well, with a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow screen that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. This is finally an edge-to-edge screen like other modern flip phones. However, the cover panel only has a 1048 x 948 pixel resolution and either a 60Hz/120Hz refresh rate.

On the design front, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 measures 13.7mm when folded (6.5mm unfolded) and weighs relatively light at 188 grams. While this is thicker than the Z Flip 6, the hinge has gotten thinner and more durable thanks to the new Armor FlexHinge and Armor Aluminum Frame. You also get an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance.

Samsung has made a major shift for the first time with its foldable smartphone with the Flip models. Snapdragon had powered all Samsung foldables so far, but the Galaxy Z Flip 7 skips the Snapdragon 8 Elite on the Z Fold 7 with the Exynos 2500 SoC that could disappoint some fans of Samsung’s flip phones.

The battery is getting a bump from 4,000mAh from the Z Fold 6 to a 4,300mAh cell on the Z Fold 7, although the fast charging rate is still 25W (with 15W wireless charging). For optics, the rear has a 50MP main camera (OIS, F/1.8, 1.0μm) that is paired with a 12MP ultra wide angle lens (F/2.2, 1.12μm), with the front housing a 10MP selfie shooter (F2.2, 1.12μm). Other notable features include Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, stereo speaker with Dolby Atmos, WiFi 7, Android 16 OS based One UI 8 custom skin out of the box, and Galaxy AI.

2. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE

The popular Fan Edition series has finally made its way to foldables, bringing cutting edge tech with a more affordable price tag. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is a new entry in the Z Flip family. It measures 14.9mm when folded (6.9mm when unfolded) and weighs 187 grams. For protection against the elements, there is an IP48 rating.

Similar to the Z Flip 6, the FE model has a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex main display with an FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, along with a 3.4-inch HD Super AMOLED cover panel with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and a 60Hz refresh rate.

Samsung equips the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE with the older Exynos 2400 SoC. It is powered by a 4,000mAh battery pack that supports 25W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging. The camera system between the regular Z Flip 7 and FE variant is identical. Other notable features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, NFC, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and Galaxy AI.

3. Pricing and Availability

Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Flip 7 was announced in multiple color options, which include Blue Shadow, Jet-Black, Coral-red and Mint, but the Mint variant is exclusive to Samsung’s official website. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE arrives in just Black and White. The brand has started pre-orders for these devices, with the first sale kicking off on July 25.

Galaxy S26 Ultra camera upgrades: something may finally change after four long years

Samsung just unveiled its 7th generation foldables and the Galaxy Watch 8 series, but next year’s S series ‘Ultra’ flagship remains in conversation. The latest leak points to some long-awaited camera upgrades for the S26 Ultra.

Galaxy S25 Ultra (left) and Galaxy S24 Ultra (right)
Galaxy S25 Ultra (left) and Galaxy S24 Ultra (right)

According to a report from Android Headlines, the upcoming S Ultra flagship is being tested with a 12MP 3x telephoto camera. Samsung has been using its age-old 10MP sensor for this purpose in its S Ultra flagships since 2021’s Galaxy S21 Ultra. While the existing hardware provides satisfactory results—mostly thanks to ongoing improvements in image processing—a sensor upgrade (possibly to a larger one) could bring notable improvements to the final output. It will also be paired with Samsung’s next-generation ProVisual engine for better image processing.

The main camera reportedly retains the same 200MP ISOCELL HP2 sensor as the S25 Ultra but uses a new lens setup, possibly to reduce camera bump or enhance clarity.

The front-facing camera is also expected to receive an upgrade after years of stagnation. This is accompanied by a new laser AF sensor, likely aimed at improving focus speed and accuracy, especially on close-up subjects. Unfortunately, specific details about the selfie camera upgrade remain unknown for now.

On the hardware side, the Samsung-made 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 (or 8 Elite 2) has reportedly been scrapped, meaning the S26 Ultra will instead feature a TSMC-manufactured chip built on a 3nm node, and this version will be used globally. As for design, the phone is said to follow Samsung’s new slim approach, measuring just 7.x mm in thickness. The display size remains 6.9 inches, though bezels may shrink slightly as part of ongoing refinements.

Previous reports suggested no major camera overhaul was expected in the S Ultra lineup until 2028. This latest leak fits that narrative—offering refinements, not a revolution.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 vs Honor Magic V5: Which thin foldable wins?

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Honor Magic V5 are part of a new wave of foldables that push the boundaries of how thin, light, and powerful a foldable phone can be.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 vs Honor Magic V5

Both arrive with top-tier specs, large folding displays, and premium builds, but each takes a slightly different approach to the foldable concept. The differences may seem minor at first glance, but for anyone looking to spend nearly $2,000 on a phone, those small details matter.

Let’s break it down.

1. Design and Build

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

Samsung’s Z Fold 7 takes its usual book-style design and slims it down even further. Folded, it’s just 8.9mm thick; impressively close to the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 8.2mm.

Unfolded, the Fold 7 is only 4.2mm, making it the thinnest foldable Samsung has ever made. Also, the phone is incredibly light at 215 grams. There’s an aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus Ceramic 2 on the front and back, and a flexible interior screen protected by a new titanium plate layer.

Honor’s Magic V5 goes even slimmer, at least on paper. The Ivory White model of the foldable is just 8.8mm when folded and 4.1mm unfolded. This is technically slimmer than Samsung’s Fold 7. However, other color variants of the V5 are slightly thicker at 9.0mm. At 217g or 222g, depending on finish, it’s also a touch heavier.

Both phones feel light for their size and come with side-mounted fingerprint sensors, IP ratings for water and dust resistance (IP48 for Samsung, IP58/IP59 for Honor), and stylus support. However, Samsung has dropped S Pen compatibility due to space constraints in its thinner frame.

2. Displays

Honor-Magic-V5

Samsung has upgraded the cover screen to 6.5 inches with a 21:9 aspect ratio, making it look and feel more like a traditional smartphone when folded. The inner display is now a full 8 inches, matching the iPad mini in size. Both screens are AMOLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support.

Honor’s Magic V5 flaunts a 6.43-inch cover display and a 7.95-inch inner screen. Both are LTPO OLEDs with 120Hz refresh rates and have a much brighter peak brightness at 5000 nits, compared to Samsung’s 2600 nits.

The Fold 7 also has a new 10MP ultrawide camera on the main screen. It comes in place of the under-display pixel cluster seen on older models. On the flip side, the crease on the Z Fold 7 is still visible in certain lighting. Honor’s crease is no less noticeable, but its “Super Armored” inner screen may offer better scratch resistance.

3. Cameras

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 finally gets the flagship camera treatment. It features a 200MP main camera, the same sensor as the S25 Ultra. It’s joined by a 12MP ultrawide and a 10MP 3x telephoto lens. Likewise, both the inner and outer screen has 10MP cameras. The camera setup supports 8K video and up to 960fps slow motion.

Honor doesn’t chase megapixel numbers, but instead offers a more balanced setup. The V5 has a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 64MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom. It also supports 4K video and includes laser autofocus.

Despite Samsung’s 200MP sensor, the Z Fold 7 lacks a periscope lens, likely due to the device’s thin profile. That limits optical zoom. Honor, on the other hand, manages to include one, giving it a slight edge in versatility.

4. Performance and Software

Both phones are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, with Honor using the AB variant and Samsung the AC variant. The differences between the two chips are minimal, but Samsung’s version may be slightly better optimized for heat and performance. Both use the same Adreno 830 GPU.

Samsung ships the Z Fold 7 with Android 16 and promises seven years of software support. It runs One UI 8, which integrates deeply with Google’s Gemini AI. That includes features like Gemini Live and an improved Circle to Search that works in games and multitasking.

Honor ships the V5 with Android 15 under MagicOS 9. It also includes Circle to Search but doesn’t yet match Samsung’s AI integration or long-term software guarantees.

5. Battery and Charging

Despite its slim body, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 houses a 4,400mAh battery. Samsung claims it can deliver 24 hours of video playback. Charging speeds are relatively modest: 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse.

Honor’s Magic V5 outpaces it with a much larger 5,820mAh battery. It supports 66W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wired charging. That’s a clear step up, especially for power users.

6. Pricing and Availability

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 starts at $1,999.99 in the US and £1,799 in the UK. It’s available in three standard colors—Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jet Black—and one exclusive Mint color from Samsung’s online store.

Honor hasn’t confirmed pricing for global markets yet, but based on Chinese pricing and past models, it’s likely to undercut Samsung by a few hundred dollars. It will launch globally in Black, Dawn Gold, Reddish Brown, and Ivory White.

7. Final Thoughts

Both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Honor Magic V5 are among the best foldable phones you can buy in 2025. This year, Samsung has made its most significant update yet to its foldable lineup since its introduction. Meanwhile, Honor focuses on offering better hardware overall, with a larger battery and a periscope lens.

If you’re already in the Samsung ecosystem or want the longest Android support window available, the Z Fold 7 makes more sense. But if you’re looking for better battery life, brighter screens, and a slightly lower price, the Honor Magic V5 is hard to ignore.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 drops S Pen support

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 7 at its Galaxy Unpacked event in New York, introducing a thinner and lighter foldable flagship with upgraded hardware, improved displays, and enhanced durability. However, the device no longer supports the S Pen stylus, a significant shift for the Fold series.

Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-7

Since the Galaxy Z Fold 3, S Pen support had been a staple feature, enabling productivity and creative use on the large inner screen. With the Fold 7, Samsung has dropped that support entirely. The company explained that enabling S Pen functionality would have required an additional digitizer layer, increasing the device’s thickness.

To maintain a sleeker form, Samsung prioritized design, trimming the unfolded thickness from 5.6mm to just 4.2mm and reducing the weight from 239g to 215g. As a result, the Fold 7 is now the lightest large-format foldable on the market.

The device features a larger 8-inch Infinity Flex Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner display, 11% bigger than its predecessor, with both inner and outer screens supporting a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to 2600 nits peak brightness. Samsung has also ditched the under-display camera in favor of a standard 10MP front sensor to improve image clarity.

Performance gets a boost with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset. The Fold 7 marks a first for the series by introducing a 200MP main rear camera, joined by a 12MP ultra-wide and a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. Battery capacity remains at 4400mAh, with 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless support.

Samsung has also focused on improving durability. The new Armor FlexHinge, a titanium-layered display, and Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 help reinforce the structure. The phone is rated IP48 for resistance to dust and splashes.

The removal of S Pen support on the Z Fold 7, along with the recent decision to eliminate Bluetooth features from the S Pen on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, signals a broader shift in Samsung’s approach. It suggests the company may be repositioning the stylus from a productivity-first tool to a simpler input method, leaving long-time S Pen users uncertain about its future role in Samsung’s flagship ecosystem.

Realme 15 Pro’s chipset gets confirmed; and it handles ‘AI Edit Genie’

Realme is preparing to unveil its new Realme 15 series later this month, and the spotlight is already on the 15 Pro. The official launch is scheduled for July 24, 2025.

Powered by Snapdragon 7 Gen 4

Realme has confirmed that the 15 Pro 5G will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 — a 4nm chip with a 1+3+4 core architecture and a top clock speed of 2.8GHz. According to Qualcomm, this chipset offers a significant boost over its predecessor, with 27% faster CPU performance and 30% better GPU performance.

To enhance the gaming experience, Realme is introducing GT Boost 3.0, which enables stable 120FPS gameplay in popular titles like BGMI. It’s paired with AI Gaming Coach 2.0 for real-time gameplay advice and AI Ultra Touch Control, which improves touch sensitivity in fast-paced action zones.

On the software side, both the Realme 15 and 15 Pro will include a new AI Edit Genie — a voice-enabled photo editing tool that can perform tasks like cropping and color correction just by voice command.

In terms of hardware, it’s expected to feature a 50MP periscope telephoto alongside a 50MP main camera, a 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a large 6,000mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging.

The Realme 15 Pro is confirmed to have at least three finishes — Flowing Silver, Velvet Green, and Silk Purple — while the standard Realme 15 will be offered in Silk Pink, Flowing Silver, and Velvet Green.

With its new AI features, upgraded performance, and bold design, the Realme 15 Pro could appear as an appealing option to mid-range buyers.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 is Official: Samsung’s Thinnest Fold Yet with Snapdragon 8 Elite

Samsung has officially taken the wraps off the highly anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 7, its thinnest and most refined foldable smartphone to date. The new foldable not only gets a design overhaul with a slimmer, lighter build but also packs the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset for top-tier performance. From improved durability, a better hinge mechanism, and upgraded cameras, here’s everything you need to know about the brand’s latest flagship foldable.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

1. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: Design & Displays

The South Korean tech giant is finally catching up on the foldable design elements with Chinese competitors since the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a lot thinner now. To recall, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 measured 5.6mm when unfolded and 12.1mm when folded. But now, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 measures just 4.2mm unfolded and 8.9mm when folded. For a quick comparison, Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra weighs 218 grams, while the Z Fold 7 is lighter at 215 grams. Samsung has also made improvements to the hinge with what it calls the Armor Flexhinge along with an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance.

The cover display is a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 21:9 aspect ratio, FHD+ resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for protection, and a 120Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the primary screen is a gorgeous 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a QXGA+ resolution (2184 x 1968) and 120Hz refresh rate. A notable downgrade this year is the removal of the Galaxy S Pen from the Galaxy Z Fold 7. But this allowed the brand to make the UTG (Ultra-Thin-Glass) slightly thicker.

2. Performance

Samsung is bringing top tier performance on the Z Fold 7, which is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. This chip is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. Unfortunately, there is no upgrade to the battery size or charging speeds. So we still get a 4,400mAh cell with 25W wired fast charging and wireless charging support (similar to its predecessor). While the internal hasn’t received a massive upgrade, the company has worked on improving the software experience, along with Galaxy AI and improved Gemini integration.

3. Camera

One leap in the new Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a true flagship grade camera. The rear brings the same 200MP camera (1/1.3-inch sensor, F1.7 aperture), which is found on the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Edge. Although, the other two cameras leave a lot to be desired since they consist of a 12MP ultra wide angle lens and a 10MP telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom. The under-display selfie camera on the primary screen is gone. Now both the main and cover screen have a punch hole cutout for the 10MP front facing shooter.

4. Pricing and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has just been announced in three color options, namely Silver Shadow, Navy, and Pink. It is currently listed for pre-orders with first sale of the flagship foldable set to kick off on 25th July 2025. So here are its pricing:

Global Pricing

Notably, the 512GB and 1TB models are available for pre-orders right now for 1,999 US Dollars and 2,269 US Dollars, respectively.

Indian Pricing

  • 12GB + 256GB – 174,999 INR (roughly 2,041 US Dollars)
  • 12GB + 512GB – 186,999 INR (roughly 2,181 US Dollars)
  • 16GB + 1TB – 210,999 INR (roughly 2,461 US Dollars)

Baidu and CAR Inc. Launch First Public Autonomous Car Rental Service in China

Baidu’s autonomous driving unit Apollo and leading car rental company CAR Inc. have officially launched the world’s first autonomous car rental service for the general public. The service went live on Tuesday in Wuhan, China, following the announcement of the partnership between the two companies in May.

Baidu and CAR Inc Launch First Public Autonomous Car Rental Service

The new service allows users to rent fully driverless vehicles without any human assistance. It runs on Baidu Apollo’s Level 4 autonomous driving platform and integrates with CAR Inc.’s national rental network. This marks the first time in China that a car rental service combines fully autonomous driving with a self-service rental process.

Baidu and CAR Inc Launch First Public Autonomous Car Rental Service

Users can access the service through the CAR Inc. mobile app. The booking process includes selecting a time and pickup location. The system then dispatches the nearest available autonomous vehicle. After ID verification, the vehicle drives itself to the pickup spot and unlocks automatically. Once the ride is complete, the car navigates on its own to the drop-off location.

The current fleet features custom-built Apollo vehicles that seat up to three passengers. The vehicles use Baidu’s driverless technology and are designed for short to mid-term rentals. The service supports bookings from four hours up to seven days and follows CAR Inc.’s existing pricing structure.

During the rental period, users can set their own routes within the designated operational area. The service targets a wide range of use cases, including daily commuting, weekend travel, and tourism.

Baidu and CAR Inc Launch First Public Autonomous Car Rental Service

Baidu and CAR Inc. said the service aims to support users who may not drive, such as elderly individuals, tourists, and people with disabilities. The companies plan to expand the service to more regions in China as part of a broader strategy to modernize the country’s car rental industry. Analysts expect the Chinese rental market to surpass 300 billion yuan (approximately $41 billion) by 2030.

As autonomous technology continues to mature and regulatory frameworks adapt, this pioneering service is set to transform the way people perceive and utilize personal transportation, potentially ushering in an era where vehicle ownership becomes less of a necessity and mobility-as-a-service becomes the norm.

In related news, the Lucid Air Grand Touring has set a new world record with a 1,205 km range on a single charge. Meanwhile, Geely has launched the Galaxy A7 hybrid sedan, boasting a fuel efficiency of 2.67L/100km, a total range of 2,100 km, and 21 aerodynamic enhancements.
