Rumour has it that the 5G version of the Galaxy S10+ may have been spotted. For over three months now multiple carrier cooperation with Sammy had revealed that such a model is indeed on the way even though Samsung won’t confirm that officially. A recent piece of information indicates that the device bears the model number SM-G977, which could be the first proper verification and approval of its presence.
The 5G model was seen with both the SM-G977U and SM-G977N model numbers as acquired by the folks over at Galaxy Club. These respectively could be the US and South Korean variants, suggesting that Samsung is working on the 5G model. There is no mention of the European model with number SM-G977F. This however doesnt mean that Samsung isnt preparing one. The 5G Galaxy S10+ is expected to reach consumers earliest June 2019. This means that the smartphone probably isnt that far down the development line.
Another thing worth taking note of is the fact that 5G networks will be more pronounced in the US and South Korea by then when it comes to accepting next-generation mobile networks, Europe is typically slower to adopt next-generation technology, so it makes sense for Samsung to give precedence to these variants that were spotted.
This 5G variant of the Galaxy S10+ aligns with the categorization of the Galaxy S10 Lite (SM-G970), Galaxy S10 (SM-G973) and, of course, the regular Galaxy S10+ (SM-G975). Prior to the commencement of sales on March 8, Galaxy S10 Lite (SM-G970), Galaxy S10 (SM-G973) and, Galaxy S10+ (SM-G975) will all be announced at an event in February. But the date of announcement of the 5G model still remains unknown.

OnePlus has always received excellent third-party development due to immense popularity and some OnePlus policies. This time also, OnePlus’s latest flagship devices are getting a lot of developer’s love in the development arena. Recently, Xiaomi’s MIUI 10 has been ported for OnePlus 6 and 6T devices. It’s seen rarely when an OEM ROM is ported to other devices. It’s quite impressive that OnePlus support in the development arena is extending across AOSP ROM to some third party OEM’s ROMs.
A senior XDA member, ProtoDeVNan0 has created a port of MIUI 10 for OnePlus latest offerings. The MIUI 10 port is based on Xiaomi’s 8.11.23 build of Android Pie. In order to install it on the OnePlus 6 or 6T, you should have OB8 or newer version. Currently, it is in earlier stages and we expect some more work to be done before it gets more stable.
Until now, few features are not working and it contains some bugs also. NFC is not working, and even the flashlight toggle is out of work. Though, users can use the third-party flashlight apps. Further, MIUI 10 stock camera app is out of work and users have to rely on the third party camera apps such as Google camera and OxygenOS camera. There are some bugs in the Alert Slide and Auto rotation feature. The Auto rotation toggle freezes your settings once touched.
Users won’t be able to use apps such as Netflix and Google Pay due to security concerns over unlocked bootloader.
Users who still want to enjoy the MIUI 10 on OnePlus 6 or 6T they can do so by simply flashing the zip. Keep in mind to flash the zip only if your device is on OB8 firmware for OnePlus 6 or OB9.0.7 for 6T. However, your device should have unlocked bootloader and custom twrp recovery installed.
Well, it seems quite illogical to test the beta MIUI 10 ROM on OnePlus 6 which have various bugs. However, developers should get hands-on the latest development in the OnePlus community.

South Korea-based research firm CGS-CIMB Research gave an account in which it evaluates the Bill of Materials (BOM) for the foldable Galaxy F in comparison with Galaxy S9+ and an iPhone XS Max. One among the expensive item is the display – or should we say “displays”. The Galaxy F will feature one large 7.3” panel that folds down the middle alongside an external 4.58” display. Two batteries will also be included which will not add much to the price (total battery capacity is expected to be around 5,000-6,000mAh).
The BOM works out to around 65% more than the iPhone and the S9+, with the same cost. Analysts have predicted that Samsung will go for a gain margin of 65%, matching Apple, as compared to the 55% of the Galaxy S9+. With this margin, they arrive at a retail price (without carrier subsidies) of $1,800. This is almost an equal match for the rumoured price tag. So expensive though, but the uniqueness of Samsung Galaxy F is that it is one of the upcoming devices with a proper foldable screen.
Analysts project sales of about 3.5 million units of foldable phones coming year, a number that will rise rapidly to 24 million units in the year 2022. The price tags will eventually reduce gradually – the average cost of a foldable phone in 2022 is assumed to be at an average of $1,300. There will be competition to make components for foldable phones too. Samsung Display is one of the top right now, it can produce 1 million foldable screens per year, according to the report. LG Display will accomplish that range in 2020.
The producers of foldable circuit boards and batteries stand to profit from foldable phones too.

Brand cooperation is becoming a growing trend in the mobile phone industry. Huawei has always teamed up with Porsche Design since the launch of the Mate 10 Porsche Design and later the Mate 20 Porsche Design. OPPO also launched a Lamborghini edition of the flagship OPPO Find X. OnePlus joined the bandwagon recently with the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition in Europe and later India.
The OP6T McLaren edition has now been unveiled in China. It comes with a price tag of 4599 yuan ($666) and will go on sale at 10 AM on December 17 via Jingdong (JD.com) and OnePlus’ official website. Notably, the price is lower than that of the European version and even the retail price in India where it was announced for Rs.50,99 ($709). Shipping and import duties may have played a role in the slightly higher price.
The flagship device packs an avalanche of new features which distinguishes it from the regular OnePlus 6T. Top of the pack is 10 GB of RAM + 256GB storage as well as a new super fast rapid charging technology called Warp Charge. The Warp Charge 30 allows the smartphone to gain 50-percent battery juice in just twenty minutes. The retail package of the phone has a 30W charger. The OnePlus 6T McLaren edition also comes with a carbon-fiber texture under its rear glass which becomes luminous when direct light falls on it. An orange lining which shines when viewed from different angles can be seen at the bottom of the glass back. The orange lining continues on both sides and fades into the black color of the rear. The McLaren logo is placed towards the bottom of the rear shell.
In addition, the model still retains the Snapdragon 845 chipset that is on the regular OnePlus 6T, a 6.41-inch FHD+ Optic AMOLED screen with waterdrop notch. The display is embedded with an in-screen fingerprint reader and it is well-protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 layer. The device gets its interface from an Android 9.0 Pie-based Oxygen OS. The device also packs a 3700mAh battery among others.
Samsung was expected to be the pioneer of the foldable display smartphone and it was believed that the company would be the first to release such a handset. However, a relatively unknown Chinese company called Royole shook the smartphone industry by unveiling a foldable smartphone commercial model in China days before Samsung displayed its own version at the developer conference in San Francisco. Now, the company has also officially listed the processor name on its website as the device goes on sale. Believe it or not, Flexpai is now the first Snapdragon 855-toting smartphone to go on sale. For more info on specifications, check out this link here.
At launch, Royole refrained from naming the processor because the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 was not official at that point. However, it wasn’t a secret that it would have Snapdragon’s latest and greatest chipset because the GPU was known to be the Adreno 640. The FlexPai boasts a 7.8-inch flexible AMOLED panel with a 1920 x 1440 resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio. It has a camera combo of 16MP + 20MP fueled by a battery of 3800mAh capacity.
Flex Pai comes in three variants – 6 + 128G version is priced at 8999 yuan ($1304), 8 + 256G version is priced at 9998 yuan ($1449), and 8 + 512G version will retail for a whopping 12,999 yuan ($1884). According to officials, FlexPai will be shipping by the end of December 2018.
Realme U1 was launched in India last month in two variants — 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM. The smartphone, which is the first one under the company’s new selfie-centric U-series, starts at Rs. 11,999 (approximately $167).
After making the phones available for purchase through a flash sale model, the company has now announced that the 3GB RAM model of the Realme U1 will be available for purchase through open sale via Amazon and Realme’s official website from 17th December.
The company has also announced that the next sale for the 4GB RAM model which comes with 64GB internal storage is scheduled for December 19th at 12 noon. Last week, the company had claimed that it sold over 200,000 units of Realme U1 within six minutes in its first sale.
To remind you of the phone’s specifications, it features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ dewdrop display with screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution, 90.8 percent screen-t0-body ratio and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The screen offers 450 nits of brightness and 1500:1 contrast ratio.
It is the world’s first smartphone to be powered by MediaTek’s Helio P70 chipset. It is built by TSMC using their 12nm FinFET technology and features Cortex-A73 and Cortex A53 cores in the same 4+4 arrangement, coupled with ARM Mali-G72 GPU.
The highlight of the smartphone is the camera module. It features a dual camera setup on the back, consisting of a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. It comes with AI Photography and AI Beautigy+ features for enhancing the photography experience.
The phone’s camera supports Studio Portrait Lighting, Super Vivid 2.0 and AI Scene Detection as well as slow-motion video recording feature. On the front side, the phone comes equipped with a 25-megapixel Sony IMX576 sensor with f/2.0 aperture. It also supports AI Front Unlock feature that is claimed to unlock the phone in just 0.1 seconds.
Connectivity options on the device include Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac dual-band (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS. The phone is running Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box with ColorOS 5.2 on top and is powered by a 3,500mAh battery.
It’s been a while since the PiP feature has made its popularity across popular apps such as YouTube, Facebook, and few other apps. Now, the same feature is rolling out to WhatsApp stable version 2.18.280. Earlier, Picture-in-Picture mode was limited to WhatsApp beta users since past few months. The update is now rolling out to users via the Play Store along with other changes and minor fixes.
Despite the popularity of the PiP mode since last year, it took a whole year for WhatsApp to engrave such a useful feature. Although, the same feature is already available for YouTube Red subscribers and on the web version, Facebook Android app, VLC media player app, and various other apps.
Due to efforts from the WhatsApp development team, the largest social messaging app has touched two billion monthly users. Recently, they have added a slew of useful features to the WhatsApp to make it incomparable with its competitors. Features such as group managing features, refined search, “Mark as read” shortcut, group voice and video calls, dark mode and others have made it even more interesting. Even though, the new gesture-based replies have also taken place in the last update.
The new PiP mode compatibility with the WhatsApp stable version will give it an edge over other social messaging apps. The PiP mode is currently compatible with YouTube, Facebook and Instagram videos only. It will make all the video links of the above mentioned social media channels streamable within the WhatsApp itself. So, from now on users can play the videos in picture-in-picture mode without leaving the chat with their loved ones.

Xiaomi as a smartphone manufacturer is quite popular all around the world. However, most of us may be unaware of Mi Ecological Chain (Mijia) which produces a wide variety of digital products including walkie-talkie, telescope and so on. Now, they’ve launched an extremely lightweight version of the bee headlights, priced at ¥ 99.
The ultra-light version of the bee headlights employs CREE XP-G3 series lamp beads as the primary light source. It’s said that the soft light will not affect the eyes badly while illuminating the road ahead. While the red light source is of multi-functionality, it operates on three modes: highlight, strobe, and SOS. And, in an emergency situation, one can be used as a warning light.
Regarding the overall build, the ultra-light bee headlight weighs merely 27 grams. When combined with the headband the headlight weighs 42 grams. Because of the lightweight nature, when worn the headlight won’t feel hefty, and it should be comfortable for the user.
The headband is designed in such a way not to increase the overall weight of the headlight. It’s made of cotton, which is not only comfortable to wear but also a good sweat absorbent. The headband adjustment buckle can easily adjust the length of the headband, and both men and women can choose the size that suits them.
Coming to the component that powers the headlight. The headlights are equipped with a 500mAh lithium battery that supports charging with a mobile power source. Xiaomi claims of it to provide backup of around 17 hours. For instance, if you run 1 hour every night, the rechargeable headlight can run for half a month which is insane.
It’s pertinent to mention here, so far, Mi eco-chain products have been honored with 116 industrial design awards, especially the new Mi electric scooter won the 2017 German red dot best of the best award and Mi LED smart lamp won 2017 German iF Gold Award. All these rewards show how well the Mijia products are performing in the market.
