CMF Phone 2 Pro confirmed to use Dimensity 7300 Pro

Nothing’s CMF sub-brand is gearing up to launch its first Pro model, the CMF Phone 2 Pro, on April 28. Flipkart just officially confirmed a detail: this phone’s going to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro chipset. So, what’s different from the chip in the original CMF Phone 1?

Handles 120FPS in BGMI, claims Nothing

The CMF Phone 2 Pro is getting a slight edge with the Dimensity 7300 Pro chipset, an upgrade over the Dimensity 7300 that’s in the CMF Phone 1. According to Flipkart’s landing page, the Pro version offers a 10% boost in CPU speed and a 5% improvement in graphics.

It’s not a massive jump, honestly, and some might wonder if the “Pro” name is a bit of a stretch for those gains. Still, it should make apps run relatively smoother and keep things snappy. Plus, for gamers, the phone’s apparently capable of running BGMI at a super-smooth 120fps, which is a nice perk for many. The phone has already been spotted on Geekbench 6.4.0 with single and multi-core scores of just over 1000 and almost 3000, respectively. As for the design, the sides are flat, and the front bezels appear to be slightly slimmer than those of the Phone 1.

There’s also a 6th-gen MediaTek NPU in there, rated at 4.8 TOPS for AI stuff, but we’re not totally sure how it compares to the regular 7300’s NPU. For a second-gen phone, the upgrades feel a bit modest, but it’s probably still a solid pick for everyday use. With the launch just days away, we’re curious to see what else the CMF Phone 2 Pro has in store. Fingers crossed for more exciting specs!

Update: The new K-series phone for the Chinese market is called the Oppo K12s. The original version of this post speculated that the device was called the Oppo K13x. The title of this post has been modified accordingly.

Oppo K12s launch date

Original story continues…

Oppo is all set to unveil the Oppo K13 5G on April 21 in India. It appears that the brand is also gearing up to launch a new K-series phone in China. It seems that India’s K13 may get rebranded as the Oppo K13x in China.

Oppo K13x key specs tipped

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, Oppo is soon going to launch a new phone, which will be advertised as the “king of battery life” as it will come with key features like a 7,000mAh battery, 80W charging, and a single-cell graphite solution battery with higher power efficiency.

The smartphone is said to be equipped with a new Snapdragon chipset, a 5700mm² vapor chamber (VC) cooling system, NFC, an IR blaster, dual speakers, and a flat display. He added that the device will be available at an affordable price.

It seems that the tipster is talking about the Oppo PLD110 phone that was recently approved by the TENAA authority. In all likelihood, this device will be dubbed the K13x when it debuts in China.

Its specifications include a 6.67-inch AMOLED FHD+ display, a 16-megapixel front camera, a 50-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual-camera setup, up to 12 GB of RAM, up to 512 GB of storage, and a 7,000mAh battery (6,820mAh – rated value) with 80W charging (as per 3C certification).

The TENAA listing also states that the Oppo PLD110 is equipped with an in-screen fingerprint scanner and an IR blaster. As far as its chipset is concerned, a previous leak revealed that it will feature the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset.

Interestingly, these specifications are also available on the Oppo K13 5G, heading to India. Also, the design of the K13x, revealed via TENAA images, is an exact match with that of the Oppo K13. Therefore, the same phone will be called the Oppo K13x in China, and it will be dubbed the Oppo K13 in India.

Google drops support for Android 12 and 12L: what it means for you

Google just pulled the plug on security updates for Android 12 and 12L as of March 31, 2025. If you’re still using a phone or tablet running these versions, this is a big deal. A ton of Android users are in the same boat, and this move could make your device more vulnerable to security threats going forward. Let’s break it down.

Google recently released its Android Security Bulletin for April 2025

Google’s Android Security Bulletin for April 2025 dropped a hint: no more security patches for Android 12 or 12L. These versions hit the scene back on October 2021, and March 2022, respectively. Google usually keeps older Android versions secure with backported patches for about 3.5 years, so this cutoff tracks with their playbook. Still, it’s a bummer since data shows most Android folks are still using Android 12 or older.

Check out the table from the bulletin—it’s clear Android 12 and 12L are off the support list. Google’s been quiet about it, but word is the March 2025 bulletin was the last one to include patches for these versions. Most of the Android smartphone makers are likely to leave these devices out in the cold.

If your device is still on Android 12 or 12L, it’s probably time to think about an upgrade. Your phone might still get updates for Google apps or certain system modules, but the core Android OS is on its own now. Google also stopped approving new Android 12 builds a while back, so don’t expect any big updates. You could repurpose your old device as a security cam or a music player for sure. But as your main phone that stores important documents, and maybe your financial details? Probably not the safest bet. If you can’t upgrade yet, just be extra careful, as security risks are only going to increase from this point.

Galaxy Buds FE 2 listed on BIS; India launch could be imminent

Samsung’s next budget-friendly audio offering, the Galaxy Buds FE 2, has taken a significant step toward release with its recent certification by the Bureau of India Standards (BIS). Identified by the model number SM-R410, this successor to the 2023 Galaxy Buds FE was first rumored last month, and the BIS listing now confirms its development and potential India launch.

Galaxy Buds FE

The BIS certification signals a major step toward launch

A BIS certification listing usually marks a significant step in a product’s development process and hints at an imminent launch. According to rumors, the Buds FE 2 could launch alongside the Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, and Samsung has been following a late July release cycle for its foldable since 2023. SO we are only around three months away from the anticipated launch of the next generation of affordable Galaxy Buds.

While specific upgrades remain under wraps, industry sources suggest the Galaxy Buds FE 2 might adopt the sleek, stem-like design, much like the Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro. On top of this design shift, you can expect iterative improvements on audio quality, ANC (active noise cancellation), and battery life. For reference, the original Galaxy Buds FE pairs 30-hour life with a solid ANC performance.

Galaxy Buds 3 Pro (L) or Galaxy Buds 3 (R)

The original Buds FE, priced at $99, balanced affordability with features like ergonomic fit and Samsung ecosystem integration, and the FE 2 could refine these aspects further.

Though details are scarce, the certification fuels excitement among tech enthusiasts eager for an affordable yet advanced earbud option. Stay tuned as more information is likely to surface as we inch closer to the official unveiling.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 spotted running One UI 8— but the changes are disappointing

Following the rough start with One UI 7, which faced delays and a brief halt due to a bug, the South Korean giant is now shifting focus to the next version of One UI. Thanks to an early Android 16 release, manufacturers like Samsung, Xiaomi, and others are racing to begin testing. Thanks to Smartprix, here’s a first look at One UI 8 in its Alpha stage, installed on a Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Initial hands-on images reveal One UI 8 as a near-twin to its predecessor. Rather than a radical overhaul, One UI 8 appears as an optimized evolution, which addresses lingering issues from One UI 7 while integrating Android 16’s latest features. The leak’s timing might surprise users, but it likely reflects Samsung’s intent to avoid past delays.

Notable changes are subtle but promising

The File Manager app sports a refreshed “Categories” section with a cleaner, more organized layout, while the Gallery app hints at minor interface tweaks. So we can say Samsung is focusing on refining the core apps for an improved user experience in One UI 8. One UI 8’s primary goal seems to be to smooth out One UI 7’s rough edges, with more significant changes likely to emerge as development progresses.

A highlight is the expansion of the “Now Brief” feature, previously exclusive to the Galaxy S25 series, now set to reach older flagships like the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. For those unfamiliar, it analyzes daily routines for personalized suggestions, broadening its appeal. While the current implementation of the S25 series doesn’t help much, it could become better as Samsung’s AI gets smarter and more capable of analyzing daily events.

With the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 expected to launch with One UI 8 within three months, Samsung is reportedly aiming for a polished release, blending One UI 7’s foundation with Android 16’s new features.

Red Magic launches two new magnetic power banks with Qi2 15W wireless charging & built-in cables

Red Magic has launched its new Dao Magnetic Power Banks—ultra-slim power banks available in 5000mAh and 10000mAh variants. They feature Qi2-certified 15W wireless charging, a built-in fast charging cable, and a sleek transparent design inspired by cyberpunk aesthetics. Let’s check out the key specs of these power banks.

Red Magic Dao Magnetic Power Banks

Specifications

Both models adopt a cyberpunk-inspired, transparent shell with carbon fiber detailing and an anodized aviation-grade aluminum chassis. At just 8mm thin for the 5000mAh model and 14mm for the 10000mAh version, Red Magic has done an impressive job keeping the form factor pocketable without sacrificing performance. Both feature a unique 60° chamfered edge that enhances grip and gives them a premium feel.

Internally, the power banks are built around Apple-grade cobalt-lithium cells, offering up to 81% energy conversion and 50% more lifespan than conventional cells. The 5000mAh unit maxes out at 20W wired charging via its integrated Type-C cable (which doubles as a lanyard), while the 10000mAh version pushes things further with up to 45W USB-C PD output. That means you can charge an iPhone 16 to 60 percent in about 30 minutes—no wall plug required.

Red Magic has ensured full Qi2 wireless certification, which means true 15W wireless fast charging for MagSafe-compatible devices. Both models feature a 14N high-strength “ice magnet” ring for secure magnetic attachment.

Heat is usually the enemy of fast charging, but Red Magic’s Efficient Cooling system tackles that head-on. Using a five-layer thermal design and an AI-powered temperature control chip, the power banks keep thermals in check, even during fast charge sessions. That’s particularly crucial for users looking to wirelessly charge while gaming or navigating on the go.

Both models are 3C-certified in China and offer nine layers of electrical protection, including safeguards against overvoltage, overheating, magnetic interference, and short circuits. So while the exterior screams sci-fi, the internals are all business.

Pricing and Availability

The Red Magic Dao Magnetic Power Bank is priced at 229 yuan ($32) for the 5000mAh model and 299 yuan ($42) for the 10000mAh variant. They are now available on the official website and JD.com.

Earlier today, the company also unveiled the Red Magic 10 Air, its thinnest full-screen gaming phone to date.

Viltrox launches AF 35mm F1.2 LAB FE lens with ultra-fast autofocus, pro controls & stunning bokeh

Viltrox just dropped a full-frame lens that punches way above its price class—and it’s aimed squarely at creators who want cinematic visuals without blowing the budget. The newly announced AF 35mm F1.2 LAB FE is the company’s boldest autofocus prime yet, combining a ridiculously bright F1.2 aperture, pro-grade autofocus, advanced optics, and intuitive controls, all packed into a weather-sealed magnesium alloy shell. Oh, and it costs under $1,000.

Viltrox AF 35mm F1.2 LAB FE lens

Specifications

At the heart of this lens is Viltrox’s Quad HyperVCM autofocus system, a serious step up from conventional motors. It uses a floating focus design that’s not only silent and fast but can shift from near to far in 100ms—something video shooters will really appreciate. It also handles close-ups with surprising precision, focusing as close as 13.4 inches with sharpness across the frame.

On the optics front, it’s no slouch either. The lens is made up of 15 elements in 10 groups, including 5 ED, 3 high-refractive, and 2 ultra-aspherical elements. This design tackles chromatic aberration and “onion-ring” bokeh with finesse, delivering creamy, smooth backgrounds and crisp detail, even wide open at F1.2. The Nano-Hydrophobic coating keeps flare and ghosting at bay, making it reliable in tough lighting.

But Viltrox didn’t stop at image quality. The lens is built for real-world use, with dual Fn buttons, a multi-function ring, and a 0.96-inch customizable LCD screen. You can tweak focus ring behavior, control aperture in steps or smoothly, and sync everything with the Viltrox Lens App for more granular control.

Viltrox AF 35mm F1.2 LAB FE lens

Pricing and Availability

The Viltrox AF 35mm F1.2 LAB FE is now available for purchase at a surprisingly aggressive price point—$999 in the US, €1099 in Europe, and £959 in the UK. It can be ordered through Viltrox’s official store or via Amazon US and Amazon Germany.

In related news, Viltrox recently launched the AF 50mm F2.0 Air full-frame lens for Sony E and Nikon Z mounts, along with the AF 25mm F1.7 Air—a compact prime ideal for travel and street photography.

We’ve also gone hands-on with the 25mm lens—don’t miss our in-depth review of the Viltrox AF 25mm F1.7 Air lens.

Huawei Launches X1 and X1 Pro Wi-Fi 7 Routers with Smarter Antennas and Sleeker Design

Huawei is giving the humble home router a serious glow-up with its new X1 series, and it’s more than just about raw speed—it’s about how a router fits into your life. The freshly launched Huawei Router X1 and X1 Pro bring Wi-Fi 7 to your living room, wrapped in a sleek, modern design that’s meant to sit out in the open, not gather dust behind your TV. These aren’t just network tools—they’re smart, stylish hubs designed to handle everything from gaming marathons to smart home setups.

Huawei Router X1 Pro

Huawei Router X1 and X1 Pro Specifications

The standout feature here is Huawei’s own Lingxi Antenna system. Instead of the usual cluster of spiky external antennas, the X1 routers use a clean cylindrical design that hides 11 internal antennas. This setup delivers 360° omnidirectional coverage and uses smart antenna scheduling to actively direct the signal toward wherever you are in the house. It’s not just prettier—it’s smarter, too.

Under the hood, both models run on Huawei’s custom Lingxiao chip, which includes a high-performance CPU, AI neural engine, and a network acceleration unit. That means AI-powered signal tuning, faster multitasking, and stable connections even when the whole house is online. You also get four power amplifiers (PA+LNA) to push strong signals through thick walls.

On the connectivity side, the routers support Wi-Fi 7 features like Multi-Link Operation, letting devices use both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands at the same time for more speed and stability. They also include tech like 4K QAM and Multi-RU scheduling to better manage bandwidth, and Preamble Puncture, which cleverly routes your data around interference like a traffic Waze for your Wi-Fi.

As for ports, the base X1 comes with two 2.5G Ethernet ports, while the X1 Pro bumps that up to four, perfect for wired connections to your gaming rig, PC, or NAS. Both routers support Huawei’s StarLight gateway, offering tight integration with HarmonyOS devices like smart locks, sensors, and cameras. Basically, if your home’s getting smarter, this router is ready for it.

Gamers aren’t left out either. The built-in Game Turbo mode recognizes over 160 popular titles and optimizes the connection to cut latency by as much as 37%. HarmonyOS 4 integration also makes device setup easier, adds powerful parental controls, and even offers visual network diagnostics for over 80 common issues—so fixing Wi-Fi problems doesn’t require a tech degree.

Pricing and Availability

Talking about the pricing, the standard Router X1 starts at 599 yuan (around $82), while the higher-end X1 Pro comes in at 899 yuan (approximately $125). Pre-orders for both models kicked off today at 2:30 PM in China, with the first official sale scheduled for 10:08 AM on April 25. Both models will be available through Huawei’s online store and authorized retailers.

In related news, TP-Link recently introduced the TL-WR3002X, a high-speed Wi-Fi 6 travel router, while Asus has launched a new Wi-Fi 7 gaming router featuring nine 2.5G ports.

Did the GTA 6 Launch Date Just Get Leaked?

Rockstar Games is working on what could possibly be the most hyped video game of all time. The studio’s Grand Theft Auto 6 had its first trailer drop at the end of 2023 and broke a bunch of new world records. However, the official launch date of the GTA 6 is still unknown. But a fresh leak might have just leaked the release date for the upcoming AAA game.

GTA 6: When does it drop?

The only official information available regarding the GTA 6 release was an Autumn 2025 launch window. But this is a broad timeline. However, a new leak has hinted at the possible launch timeline now. While Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar’s Parent Company) is also working on the Mafia: The Old Country, it had its launch date was leaked via Steam (a popular online gaming library).

GTA 6
Grand Theft Auto 6

Mafia: The Old Country may debut on 8th August 2025. AAA games usually avoid launching their games in close proximity to avoid cannibalizing sales. In September 2025, the highly anticipated Borderlands 4 and NBA 2K26 are set to debut. So the remaining launch windows include October and November since August and September are seemingly crowded.

Considering how the official launch is said to be in Autumn 2025, which runs from September to November, the latter is likely when the GTA 6 may finally debut. This would have the game lead the holiday season and have enough time to be a consideration for The Game Awards, which is typically held in December. Keep in mind that this is still just speculation at the moment, so stick around for more.
