According to information shared by an anonymous source with Gizmochina, we now have the pricing details for the Galaxy S25 series in the European market.

Documents we have received suggest that the base Galaxy S25 with 128GB of storage will start at €909, with the 256GB variant priced at €969. The mid-Galaxy S25+ will start at €1159 for the 256GB model.

The most expensive model in the lineup, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, will reportedly start at €1459 for the 256GB version.

Huawei maintained its dominance with nearly 50 percent of the market share, followed by Honor at 20.6 percent and Vivo at 11.1 percent, supported by strong product line-ups like the X Fold 3 series. Xiaomi secured fourth place with a 7.4 percent share, thanks to the success of its first clamshell foldable.

Despite not releasing new foldable phones in 2024, Oppo held a 5.3 percent share due to strong user recommendations. However, a notable absence is Samsung, the global leader in foldable devices, which has yet to carve out a significant presence in China’s highly competitive market.

As far as market trends are concerned, shipments of foldable phones reached 9.17 million units in 2024, reflecting a 30.8 percent year-on-year increase. However, the fourth quarter saw a 9.6 percent decline in shipments, totalling 2.5 million units. This marked the first drop after nine consecutive quarters of rapid growth. While improvements in design, durability, and battery life have enhanced the appeal of foldable phones, high prices, limited durability, and restricted internal space continue to hinder their adoption among a broader audience.

Once a user receives approval for unlocking, they have only 336 hours (14 days) to complete the binding and unlocking process. If this window lapses, the unlock permission becomes void and cannot be extended or reissued.

Previously, users could unlock up to three devices per year. The new policy reduces this to a single device annually, impacting both Xiaomi’s native Chinese market and global users. Individuals who have unlocked a device in the past 12 months must wait for their one-year period to expire before unlocking another device.

Real-Name Authentication:

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 lineup is one of the most anticipated launches of the year, but there’s a catch—one of its rumored models, the Galaxy S25 Slim, might not even make it to the US. Industry insider Evan Blass just dropped this bombshell on his private X account, and it’s leaving fans scratching their heads.

So far, we’ve heard that the Galaxy S25 Slim wasn’t going to launch alongside its siblings on January 22. Instead, it was reportedly delayed until May. But now, Blass claims US carriers won’t even be selling the phone. That’s right: the Slim may not be available in the US at all.

And that’s not all. Blass suggests that the name “Galaxy S25 Slim” might not even stick, which makes things even more confusing. He also hinted that the phone could land between the Galaxy S25 Plus and Ultra in terms of price and marketing—at least in the markets where it does launch.

This situation isn’t entirely new for Samsung. Take the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, for example—a thinner, lighter foldable that’s only available in South Korea. Could the Galaxy S25 Slim meet a similar fate, restricted to select markets like Samsung’s home turf? It’s certainly possible.

If you’re hoping the Galaxy S25 Slim will be worth the wait, temper your expectations. Early rumors painted a picture of a super-thin phone (around 5-6mm) with a sleek design. But that thinness likely means compromises—most notably in battery size. Unlike the upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup, which is rumored to feature silicon-carbon anode batteries, the Slim will probably stick to traditional Li-ion battery tech.

This means a smaller battery capacity, which could be a dealbreaker for many. And let’s face it: do we really need phones that are paper-thin if it means sacrificing battery life and durability? Probably not.

To make things more interesting, Blass’s post casts doubt on whether the Slim would even rival Apple’s rumored iPhone 17 Air. If it’s restricted to select markets, the competition may not matter much.

At this point, it’s looking less and less likely that we’ll see the Galaxy S25 Slim at Samsung’s Unpacked event next week. Of course, surprises aren’t off the table, but for now, all we can do is wait and see what Samsung officially announces.

Realme GT 7 could be most affordable Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, launch timeframe tipped

In February, Realme will unveil the Realme Neo 7 SE equipped with the Dimensity 8400-Max chipset in China. It appears that it will not be the only performance-driven phone planned for the Chinese market. As per a Chinese tipster, the more powerful Realme GT 7 may also debut in the coming month.

In November 2024, Realme unveiled the Realme GT 7 Pro, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Earlier this month, an upcoming Realme phone with the model number RMX5090 was spotted in the database of the TENAA certification platform. The listing revealed that, compared to the GT 7 Pro, the RMX5090 lacks a periscope telephoto camera while retaining the same specifications as the GT 7 Pro. Furthermore, the absence of one camera results in a slightly redesigned dual-camera module on the RMX5090, replacing the triple-camera setup seen on the GT 7 Pro.

While there is no clarity about the final moniker of the Realme RMX5090, it is being dubbed the Realme GT 7. According to tipster Experience More, apart from the Neo 7 SE, Realme will also announce the Realme GT 7 by the end of February in China. While the GT 7 Pro is Realme’s first phone with an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor, the inclusion of the same is questionable on the GT 7. Likely, the brand may offer an optical-type in-screen fingerprint sensor on the GT 7 to launch it at a reduced price.

Talking about the price, the Realme GT 7 will temporarily displace the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro to become the most affordable Snapdragon 8 Elite chip-powered smartphone. To recall, the Ace 5 Pro was announced with a starting price of 3,399 Yuan (~$465) in China.

The tipster added that the upcoming Realme Neo 7 SE is basically regarded as the Neo 7 with a new chip, the Dimensity 8400-Max. To recall, the Neo 7 was announced with the Dimensity 9300+ chip in December 2024 in China. In other words, the Neo 7 SE will be identical to the Neo 7, and the only major difference will be the inclusion of a less powerful chip. The Neo 7 SE is also expected to dethrone the Redmi Turbo 4 to become the most affordable Dimensity 8400 phone. To recall, the Redmi Turbo 4 debuted earlier this month with a starting price of 1,999 Yuan (~$275).

7 reasons why I want more brands to use Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 chip

Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 processor back in March 2024. It’s built on the advanced TSMC 4nm process and packs features that rival premium SoCs from one or two years ago. 

Yet, despite its impressive potential, we’ve barely seen the SoC in action. So far, only two devices—the Realme GT 6T and OnePlus Nord 4—have been launched with this chipset.

For a chip that delivers more than we could ask for in a mid-range phone, its limited adoption feels like a missed opportunity. Here’s why I think brands should embrace the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 and why more phones powered by this chipset could make a meaningful difference for consumers.

1. It Brings Flagship-Level CPU Power to Mid-Range Phones

The Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 is built on the TSMC 4nm process, just like Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Gen 3. Its CPU configuration—with a high-performance Cortex-X4 core clocked at 2.8GHz, four Cortex-A720 cores, and three Cortex-A520 cores for efficiency—delivers power that’s surprisingly close to what flagship chips offer.

For instance, here’s a benchmark comparison of the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 against 8 Gen 2.

Phones powered by this chip can handle heavy apps, casual editing, and even future-proof tasks without breaking a sweat. Simply put, it’s overkill for day-to-day usage but finally gives mid-range phones the horsepower they’ve been missing.

Mobile gaming has become a huge part of how people use their phones, but not everyone needs the extreme gaming capabilities found in flagship processors. The Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 offers a perfect balance with its Adreno 732 GPU

Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset in October 2024. The 8-core chip has the SM8750-AB part number. However, a recent report revealed there is a new 7-core version of the chip with the SM8750-3-AB part number. Recent reports have claimed that the Oppo Find N5 will be the world’s first foldable phone to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. However, a new development suggests it will be the first device to feature the 7-core edition of the chip.

Reports have revealed that the Oppo Find N5 has two model numbers: PKH110 and PKH120. While the former is associated with the regular version of the N5, the latter belongs to the satellite connectivity variant. The N5’s PKH100 variant has now emerged on Geekbench, revealing some of its key specs

The Geekbench listings for the Oppo Find N5 show that it runs on the 7-core version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. While the regular version of the N5 features the 7-core edition of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, it remains unclear if its satellite communication version also incorporates the regular 8-core Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.

The Find N5’s Geekbench listing reveals that it features 16 GB of RAM and runs on Android 15. In the single-core test, the device scored 2,948 and 3,083 points, while in the multi-core test, it achieved 8,196 and 8,865 points. The slightly lower multi-core scores, about a thousand points less than the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite, appear to be due to the absence of one core in the new chip.

While benchmark scores provide a general idea of performance, they don’t always reflect real-world usage. In most everyday tasks, the missing core in the Find N5 likely won’t have a significant impact. Modern chips are designed to handle a wide range of tasks efficiently, and most apps don’t fully utilize all cores simultaneously. However, for demanding tasks like gaming or intensive multitasking, the difference might be noticeable. The regular Snapdragon 8 Elite’s extra core could provide a slight edge in these scenarios, resulting in smoother performance and potentially higher frame rates in games.

The Find N5 is slated for a China launch in February. It is speculated to get rebranded as the OnePlus Open 2 in some markets like the US, Europe, and India.

Xiaomi Pad 7 continues the legacy of its predecessors in India. The latest tablet retains the price of its forerunners and yet delivers upgrades.

The Xiaomi Pad 7 is the only tablet on the market to use this chip. In fact, there are only two smartphones (Realme GT 6T and OnePlus Nord 4) with this silicon in India. All three products cost about the same.

2. Bright and Crisp Display

The Xiaomi Pad 7 flaunts an 11.2-inch LCD screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio. More importantly, the display is crispier and brighter than the 11-inch panel on the Xiaomi Pad 6.

The screen offers a resolution of 3200 x 2136 pixels and 345 PPI. It supports up to a 144Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate.

The display has a rated peak brightness level of 800 nits and offers 4096 levels of brightness adjustments along with DC dimming. It also supports Dolby Vision as well as DCI-P3 color gamut.

 Lastly, the touchscreen can be operated even while wet.

It consists of backlit keys, which offer 1.3mm key travel. The trackpad also supports quick gestures for multiple functions.

Whereas the stylus has two buttons. They can be used for multiple tasks, such as pointing, highlighting, writing, screenshots, and camera shutter.

The pen supports 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity. Thus, it feels closer to a real thing.

The Xiaomi Pad 7 is offered in two trims in India. The base 8GB + 128GB variant costs ₹27,999, while the higher 12GB + 256GB model retails at ₹30,999.

There’s no other Android tablet in this price segment in India offering an identical or better feature set. Even the accessories are not that expensive for the value they add.

Leica Camera AG has unveiled the Leica SL3-S, the latest addition to its SL-System lineup. The SL3-S is the first SL-System camera to feature Content Credentials technology, aligning with the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI) to establish photo authentication and transparency.

The SL3-S includes a 24 MP BSI-CMOS full-frame sensor with Multi-Shot resolutions of 48 MP and 96 MP. With an ISO range of 50–200,000, the sensor delivers high dynamic range and consistent quality in various lighting conditions. Its advanced phase-detection autofocus system offers precise tracking and up to 30 fps continuous shooting.

The SL3-S uses Content Credentials technology, embedding secure metadata into images, such as camera details, author information, and editing history. iOS 19 first leak shows drastic change in camera UI

Apple’s Vision Pro has struggled to gain traction in the market, largely due to its hefty $3,499 price tag. But if a new leak is to be believed, iPhone users could soon get a taste of its design philosophy—without having to shell out thousands of dollars.

Jon Prosser, known for his Apple leaks, recently shared a scoop on his Front Page Tech YouTube channel, claiming that iOS 19 will bring a redesigned camera app that borrows heavily from VisionOS. While Prosser refrained from showing direct footage—presumably to protect his source—his team created animated renders of the updated UI based on what he saw.

A Cleaner, More Streamlined Camera Interface

The purported redesign introduces translucent menus for camera controls, allowing for a larger and more immersive viewfinder. Instead of cluttering the interface with an array of toggles, the new design simplifies things with two primary options at the bottom: Camera and Video.

Tapping each category expands a selection of relevant settings, including aspect ratio, depth, styles, exposure, and timers. Resolution and frame rate settings, which were previously more accessible, are now tucked away at the top of the screen.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not imagining things. A similar leak last year suggested that iOS 18 would bring a Vision Pro-like camera app update, but that never materialized. It’s possible the feature was simply delayed rather than scrapped altogether.

Is This the Beginning of a Larger iOS Redesign?

While a refined camera app is a noteworthy update, the bigger question is whether this signals a broader UI overhaul for iOS 19. Prosser explored this idea with a render featuring circular icons. However, he concedes that this may be an overreach.

According to him, Apple is more likely to introduce VisionOS-inspired elements within core apps like Camera, Music, Notes, and Wallet rather than implementing a full-fledged redesign across the entire system. This would allow Apple to ease users into a new design paradigm without disrupting the familiarity that keeps millions of iPhone users loyal to iOS.

And if Apple truly believes the VisionOS aesthetic is superior, rolling it out incrementally makes sense. A sudden overhaul could alienate users who prefer consistency over change.

Android 16 will allow splitting three apps at once

Essentially, Android 16 might let users open three apps side by side on tablets. In OnePlus’ system, two apps take up 90% of the screen, while a third app is visible in the remaining 10%.  A simple tap on the smaller window brings it into focus, switching the layout smoothly. Google seems to be testing a similar approach in Android 16.

The code found in Android 16 DP2 mentions an in-development “flexible” split-screen mode. Android Authority’s Mishaal Rahman managed to get the feature working on his Pixel device, though he notes that it’s far from ready and currently doesn’t split apps properly.

Google is still testing this feature, and it’s unclear whether it will be ready for the final Android 16 release. If completed in time, it could roll out to all Android phones and tablets, and manufacturers like Samsung can particularly make use of these features for their book-style foldable. 

Android 16 is expected to reach platform stability in the first half of this year, with a full release later in the year. If this feature is finalized, users may receive it through manufacturer updates.
