Comparing Xiaomi 15 Pro and Xiaomi 12 Pro: Which is Better?

Xiaomi 15 Pro and Xiaomi 12 Pro are premium flagship smartphones offering top-tier performance, stunning displays, and advanced cameras. While the 12 Pro set a high standard at launch, the 15 Pro introduces substantial upgrades in design, hardware, and features, catering to users seeking the latest innovations. This comparison delves into their standout features to help you decide which device best suits your needs. Whether you prioritize cutting-edge tech or great value, this breakdown highlights the key differences between these two impressive devices.

1. Design and Display

Xiaomi 15 Pro
Xiaomi 15 Pro

Xiaomi 15 Pro showcases a refined design with IP68 water and dust resistance, offering durability unmatched by the Xiaomi 12 Pro. The 15 Pro retains the same 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED display size but pushes the brightness to a remarkable 3200 nits, ensuring vivid visuals in any lighting condition. Meanwhile, the 12 Pro’s display maxes out at 1500 nits. Both phones provide 120Hz refresh rates and support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, delivering a fluid and immersive viewing experience.

The inclusion of shatterproof glass in the 15 Pro represents a significant upgrade over the Gorilla Glass Victus used in the 12 Pro, enhancing durability. With its modern HyperOS 2 UI, the 15 Pro feels more premium and futuristic. If durability and a superior viewing experience are priorities, the Xiaomi 15 Pro takes the lead.

2. Specifications

Xiaomi 12 Pro
Xiaomi 12 Pro

The Xiaomi 15 Pro comes equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite (3 nm) chipset, a leap ahead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (4 nm) in the 12 Pro. This translates to significantly better performance and efficiency. The 15 Pro supports configurations up to 1TB storage and 16GB RAM, while the 12 Pro maxes out at 256GB and 12GB RAM. The UFS 4.0 in the 15 Pro also outclasses the UFS 3.1 in the 12 Pro, ensuring faster data handling.

Battery capacity sees an upgrade in the 15 Pro with a 6100 mAh Si/C battery compared to the 4600 mAh in the 12 Pro. Though the 15 Pro’s 90W wired charging is slightly slower than the 120W in the 12 Pro, its larger battery and superior efficiency more than compensate. For a future-proof powerhouse, the 15 Pro is the better choice.

3. Camera

Xiaomi 15 Pro
Xiaomi 15 Pro

The Xiaomi 15 Pro boasts a versatile triple-camera system with Leica lenses and advanced video capabilities, including 8K HDR and Dolby Vision. Its 5x optical zoom and improved wide-angle capabilities outperform the 12 Pro’s 2x optical zoom and standard ultrawide setup. Both phones feature 50 MP sensors but the 15 Pro’s wider apertures and superior stabilization give it an edge in low-light performance and clarity.

Selfie cameras remain similar, but the 15 Pro offers 4K video recording, a clear step up from the 12 Pro’s 1080p limit. If photography or videography is a priority, the Xiaomi 15 Pro significantly raises the bar with professional-grade features.

4. Pricing

The Xiaomi 12 Pro is priced at approximately €440, while the 15 Pro launches at around €690. While the 15 Pro commands a higher price, the significant upgrades in processing power, battery, and camera justify the premium for users seeking cutting-edge technology.

For budget-conscious buyers, the 12 Pro remains a fantastic option, but the 15 Pro delivers more value for those willing to invest.

5. Conclusion

Xiaomi 15 Pro
Xiaomi 15 Pro

Unique to the Xiaomi 15 Pro are its IP68 rating, shatterproof glass, two-way satellite communication, and Leica lens technology, making it a more robust and feature-packed device. The new Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and HyperOS 2 also position it as a leader in performance and software innovation.

If you’re looking for groundbreaking features and a future-ready phone, the Xiaomi 15 Pro is the clear winner. However, for everyday use, the Xiaomi 12 Pro still provides excellent value with its flagship-tier capabilities.

Realme 14x’s leaked render reveals a refined look and water-resistant design ahead of December 18 launch

Realme is all set to launch its new smartphone, the Realme 14x 5G, in India on December 18. Ahead of its official unveiling, the design of the upcoming device has been leaked via a render by 91mobiles, giving us an early look at what to expect from this successor to the Realme 12x 5G. Along with the design, the leaked information also hints at some of the key features that will make the Realme 14x 5G a competitive addition to the brand’s lineup.

Realme 14x 5G design and specifications (rumored):

The Realme 14x 5G is expected to feature a new camera design, with a vertically aligned triple camera setup on the back, a shift from the circular camera module seen on the Realme 12x 5G. This change suggests that Realme is aiming for a more modern, sleek look for its upcoming device. The triple camera setup on the Realme 14x 5G is a significant upgrade from the dual-camera system with a 50MP sensor seen on its predecessor, promising improved photography capabilities.

Realme 14x 5G render reveals design

As seen in the leaked render, the Realme 14x 5G will have the volume and power buttons located on the right edge, with a USB Type-C port placed at the bottom for charging and data transfer. The device will likely be available in three color options: Crystal Black, Golden Glow, and Jewel Red, offering a range of choices for consumers. The image below is the predecessor, the Realme 12x 5G.

Realme 12x

In terms of specifications, the Realme 14x 5G will sport a 6.67-inch HD+ IPS LCD display, which is slightly smaller than the 6.72-inch screen on the Realme 12x 5G. While it may not be a massive upgrade in terms of size, the display is expected to offer good clarity and brightness for users. While no chipset information has been disclosed yet, we can expect a reasonable improvement in raw performance than the Dimensity 6100+-powered predecessor.

The device will be available in three storage variants: 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB, and 8GB+256GB, giving users flexibility in terms of storage capacity. One of the most notable upgrades on the Realme 14x 5G is its 6,000mAh battery, a significant improvement over the 5,000mAh battery on the Realme 12x 5G. This larger battery is expected to provide longer usage times, making it an appealing option for heavy smartphone users.

Additionally, the Realme 14x 5G is rumored to come with an IP69 rating, which offers enhanced durability compared to the IP54 rating on the previous model. This means the upcoming device will likely be more resistant to dust and water, further improving its overall build quality.

The G35 5G is touted as the first phone in its segment to offer 4K video recording, making it an excellent choice for content creators and vloggers on a budget. While it lacks the Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) found in its sibling, the G55 5G, the combination of software enhancements and decent hardware still delivers impressive results.

4. Design and Build

Motorola has paid close attention to the design of the Moto G35 5G. Globally, the device comes in four color options: Leaf Green, Guava Red, Midnight Black, and Sage Green. Each of these variants is available with a vegan leather finish, giving the phone a premium look and feel. Measuring 7.79mm in thickness and weighing around 191g (depending on the material finish), the Moto G35 5G is sleek and comfortable to hold.

The phone also features a water-repellant design, adding a layer of protection against accidental splashes. It also comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

5. Audio and Connectivity

The Moto G35 5G does not compromise on audio quality. It comes with stereo speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos, delivering an immersive sound experience for music, movies, and gaming. The device also retains the 3.5mm headphone jack and includes an FM Radio, catering to traditional audio enthusiasts.

On the connectivity front, the phone supports 12 5G bands, ensuring widespread compatibility across different networks.

6. Battery and Charging

Moto G35 5G is powered by a 5000mAh battery with 18W TurboPower charging. Some users might find it slightly slower compared to competitors offering faster charging speeds. Nevertheless, it strikes a good balance for its price point.

7. Pricing and Availability

Motorola has hinted that the Moto G35 5G will be priced under ₹10,000 in India, making it one of the most affordable 5G smartphones in the market. Globally, the phone has been introduced with a starting price of €199 ($209).

8. Final Thoughts

The Moto G35 5G packs an impressive feature set for its price, including a bright 120Hz display, a capable camera system, and 5G connectivity. Its sleek design and durable build make it a compelling option for budget-conscious buyers. While it may face stiff competition in the sub-₹10,000 segment, Motorola’s strong brand reputation and feature-packed offering could give it an edge.

For those looking for an affordable smartphone with future-proof 5G capabilities and solid performance, the Moto G35 5G is worth keeping on your radar.

Samsung to introduce its AR glasses prototype at Galaxy Unpacked on January; details here

Samsung is set to make a major announcement at Galaxy Unpacked 2025, where it will reveal the prototype of its highly anticipated augmented reality (AR) glasses. After years of rumors and speculations, this move is expected to mark the tech giant’s entry into the growing AR market. While specific details about the glasses remain scarce, early reports have provided some intriguing insights into what consumers can expect from Samsung’s XR (extended reality) device.

meta-ray-ban

According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung Electronics is preparing to unveil the AR glasses prototype in early 2025, possibly through an image or video. This development comes after years of hints and patents circulating online, fueling anticipation around the company’s smart glasses project. It’s clear that Samsung is positioning itself to compete in the burgeoning AR space, with its prototype expected to offer a glimpse of future capabilities.

Rumored specifications:

The Samsung AR glasses are expected to be lightweight, much like the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, weighing approximately 50 grams. These glasses are designed to offer more than just a stylish accessory, with features such as gesture recognition, facial recognition, and integrated payment functionalities.

Although the exact specifications of these features remain unclear, it is anticipated that the Samsung AR glasses will provide enhanced functionality compared to the Meta glasses, especially in terms of user interaction.

Further details suggest that Samsung has been collaborating with industry leaders like Qualcomm and Google since February 2023 to develop the AR glass. The glasses are rumored to have a 155mAh battery and a 12MP camera, features that echo those of the Ray-Ban Meta glasses.

However, it is important to note that unlike Meta’s product, Samsung’s AR glasses are expected to lack a display, aiming instead for a lighter, more compact form factor. Google’s Gemini AI assistant is expected to power functions such as payments, QR code recognition, gesture recognition, and facial recognition, making the glasses a versatile tool for everyday use.

Price?

Though pricing remains unknown, the Samsung AR glasses are speculated to be priced similarly to Meta’s offering, which retails for around Rs 35,000 in India. Samsung is expected to provide more details at the official prototype reveal, likely coinciding with the launch of the Galaxy S25 series.

In summary, while much remains to be seen, Samsung’s AR glasses are shaping up to be a competitive entry into the expanding market of smart eyewear, with an expected release slated for Q3 2025.

Both Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 to feature significantly larger screens

Samsung is expected to unveil significant upgrades to its foldable phone lineup in 2025, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 set to offer wider screens than their predecessors. This upgrade could have far-reaching implications not just for the devices’ usability but also for their performance, as a larger form factor could accommodate a bigger battery.

New screen sizes for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7

Reports suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will feature a larger main screen and cover screen compared to the current Galaxy Z Fold 6. According to Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, the Z Fold 7’s main screen could grow to 8 inches, up from 7.6 inches on the Z Fold 6.

The cover screen is also expected to increase, moving from 6.3 inches on the Z Fold 6 to 6.5 inches, making the device more comfortable for users to interact within its closed state. Notably, the screen sizes are the same as the Z Fold Special Edition launched in October this year, which is also a bit slimmer than the Z Fold 6.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also rumored to get an upgrade. It is expected to feature a larger 6.85-inch main screen, compared to the 6.7-inch screen on the Z Flip 6. Furthermore, the cover screen, which was 3.4 inches on the previous model, will now be 4 inches. This larger cover screen would enable users to view more information and interact with more apps without opening the device.

Better app compatibility expected

The increased screen sizes of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 are expected to improve application compatibility for the cover screens. The Z Flip 6, while capable of displaying several apps such as music controls, calendar, and a browser on its cover screen, still faced some limitations with app compatibility. The new, larger 4-inch cover screen on the Z Flip 7 could potentially bring better support for a wider variety of apps, improving the overall experience.

Best Android Phones to Buy in the US

Choosing the right Android phone can feel overwhelming. With so many options flooding the market, navigating through specs and marketing buzzwords can quickly become confusing. But don’t worry—we’re here to cut through the noise and help you make a smart choice.

Everyone has unique needs and priorities. Some value sleek designs and powerful performance, while others focus on battery life or camera quality. Whatever your needs may be, there’s an Android phone out there that’s perfect for you.

In this guide, we’ll break down the key factors to consider when choosing an Android phone. We’ll rank options based on performance, camera quality, battery life, and software features. We’ll also explore various price ranges to help you find the best value for your money.

By the end of this guide, you’ll have a clear understanding of what to look for in an Android phone and be able to make an informed decision that aligns with your specific needs and preferences.

1. Best All-Round Android

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra builds on the company’s legacy of delivering top-tier performance, though its hardware updates are modest compared to the previous model.

The standout feature this year is the inclusion of AI-powered tools under the Galaxy AI suite, which includes real-time call translations, automatic note summaries, and circle to search.

Powering these AI features is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The SoC can handle any daunting tasks you throw at it and even has great efficiency, allowing nearly 17 hours of usage on a single charge.

Cameras have always been the talking point for the Galaxy-S series, and the S24 Ultra is no exception. While the hardware hasn’t undergone major changes, it introduces a notable update.

Samsung has replaced the previous 10x telephoto module with a new large-sensor 5x telephoto camera, enabling both 5x and 10x zoom shots through hybrid processing.

Starting at $1,299, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is undeniably a premium device. Along with top-tier hardware, it offers one of the best software support policies in the Android ecosystem—seven years of software and security updates—making it a strong choice for long-term value.

2. Best AI Phone

While the S24 Ultra brings a suite of AI features, the king-of-the-hill for an AI phone is undeniably, the Pixel 9 Pro XL.

Building on its predecessor’s strengths, the Pixel 9 Pro XL introduces tools like Pixel Studio for instant image generation and Note Assist for smart, efficient note-taking.

Its Zoom Enhance intelligently fills gaps between pixels and predicts fine details for sharp post-capture zoom results. Additionally, Super Pro Res Zoom and tools like Add Me, along with a host of other practical AI features, provide plenty of new and innovative AI features to explore.

Google even upgraded the RAM to a default of 16GB on the Pixel 9 Pro XL to power all these AI features. And it also comes with seven years of platform and security patch update promise as the S24 Ultra.

Beyond AI, the Pixel 9 Pro XL has top-of-the-line hardware as well. The 6.8-inch Super Actua display offers an impressive peak brightness of 2,469 nits. Meanwhile, the Tensor G4 chip improves in terms of efficiency delivering a day’s worth of battery life with ease.

Although the Pixel 9 Pro XL comes with a $100 price increase over the previous model, the improvements, particularly in AI and battery life, make it worth considering for those looking for a device that truly integrates artificial intelligence into everyday use.

3. Flagship At Budget

OnePlus has steadily climbed the ranks of premium Android phone makers, and the OnePlus 12 is proof of its growth. With a top-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a refined design, and a camera system developed in collaboration with Hasselblad, this phone competes with more established brands.

Battery performance is another area where the OnePlus 12 shines. It delivers an incredibly good battery life and supports a fast 80W wired (in the US) and 50W wireless charging.

Despite featuring the same chipset as the S24 Ultra and being the OnePlus’ flagship, the OnePlus 12 is available for around $600 in the US, nearly half the price of the S24 Ultra. However, keep in mind that its software support—four years of major updates—isn’t as extensive as Samsung or Google’s.

4. Best Compact Option

For those who prefer a smaller phone without compromising on performance, the Galaxy S24 is an excellent choice. Despite being more compact than its Ultra sibling, it packs the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset, offering a similar level of performance.

The S24 also features an impressive camera setup, including a dedicated telephoto lens for portraits. You’ll also find all the Galaxy AI features available on the S24 Ultra. And most importantly, the same seven-year software support commitment extends to this model as well.

5. Best Foldable

Google’s first folding phone was a bit of a disaster, but with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the company has made significant improvements in several key areas.

However, for those eyeing a foldable, be prepared for a pricey device—whether it’s the Pixel 9 Pro Fold or the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. It’s also bulkier than most traditional slab phones, and while the cameras are good, they don’t reach the same level as those on the flagship phones.

Still, the foldable has its own appeal and Pixel 9 Pro XL is probably the best device in the segment right now. It features a 6.3-inch outer screen, with a ratio similar to Google’s slab phones. In contrast, the Samsung Z Fold 6 uses a taller, narrower format, which can feel cramped.

Powered by the same Tensor G4 chip as other Pixel 9 devices, it also includes a solid 4650mAh battery. Like the rest of the Pixel 9 lineup, it benefits from a seven-year software update commitment and offers a solid camera setup with all the AI features to explore.

Please Note: When you buy something using the links in our articles, we may earn a small commission at no cost to you.

6. Best Flip Phone

If you’re looking for a foldable that feels more like a regular phone, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is a great option. Its compact, foldable design packs a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, and an upgraded 4,000mAh battery.

The Z Flip 6 also improves its camera system with a 50MP main sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. New AI-powered features, such as Auto Zoom, automatically adjust the frame based on the number of people or objects in the shot, improving camera performance.

Additionally, the Flex Window (the outer display) adds interactive features like suggested replies and live translations. These upgrades make the Galaxy Z Flip 6 an appealing choice for those looking for a compact and functional foldable phone.

7. Choosing Your Perfect Match

The best Android phone depends on your priorities. For an all-around flagship, the Galaxy S24 Ultra delivers top-tier performance and longevity.

Those interested in AI advancements will find the Pixel 9 Pro XL appealing, while budget-conscious users can consider the OnePlus 12 for flagship-level features at a lower price. If compactness or foldable innovation is more important, the Galaxy S24 and OnePlus Open are excellent choices.

Ultimately, Android’s diversity ensures there’s a phone for everyone, whether you prioritize the performance, design, or value.

Here’s the first look at Realme Neo 7 featuring 7,000mAh battery, Dimensity 9300+

Realme will unveil the Realme Neo 7, equipped with a massive 7,000mAh battery and Dimensity 9300 Plus chip, on Dec. 11 in China. Yesterday, the device appeared in China’s TENAA certification database, revealing its key specifications along with images. Today, the brand released a video and image to officially confirm the Neo 7’s design for the first time.

Realme Neo 7 design revealed

According to Xu Qi, Vice President, Global Marketing President, and President of Realme China, the Neo 7 is the first product in the Neo series since it became independent. The brand has released an image showcasing the Neo 7 in the Starship Edition color option. The company has incorporated an unconventional design for the Neo 7’s rear camera module.

Xu Qi added that the camera module’s new “star step” design is the result of precise metal processing. This design, combined with elements such as a flat screen, upright middle frame, back panel lines, and geometric chamfer Deco, creates a stable and calm “starship space” aesthetic.

Despite housing a massive 7000mAh battery, known for its bulkiness, the device maintains a slim profile of only 8.5mm, which is 0.1mm thinner than its predecessor (Realme GT Neo 6) while increasing the battery capacity by 1500mAh.

This achievement is credited to the new battery technology developed in collaboration with Ningde New Energy, offering an industry-leading energy density of 800 Wh/L. This technology enables a higher capacity within the same volume, and the use of a folded circuit board design reduces the top thickness by 30 percent, making the 7000mAh battery even thinner than a typical 5000mAh graphite battery.

Realme has also confirmed that the Dimensity 9300 Plus-powered Realme Neo 7 features a 7,700mm² VC liquid cooling system to ensure sustained high-performance output. As per the TENAA listing, the Neo 7 measures 162.55 x 76.39 x 8.56mm and weighs approximately 213.4 grams. It sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 1.5K resolution and an in-screen fingerprint sensor. It features a 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual camera setup on the back and a 16-megapixel front camera.

In China, the device will be available with up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage. The device will come with other features, such as 80W charging, dual speakers, an IR blaster, and Realme UI 6-based Android 15.

OnePlus Ace 5 Pro receives 3C certification, launching soon as the most affordable Snapdragon 8 Elite phone

OnePlus recently confirmed that it will unveil the OnePlus Ace 5 series of smartphones this month (December) in China. It has already been revealed through the Geekbench listing that the Ace 5 will come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. On the other hand, the Ace 5 Pro is expected to feature the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. The Ace 5 had appeared with model number PKG110 in Geekbench’s database, and now a new Oppo phone with PKR110 has emerged in the database of China’s 3C certification platform. Speculations suggest that the PKR110 could be the model number of the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro.

The above screenshot shows that the alleged OnePlus Ace 5 Pro will ship with a charger that supports up to 100W rapid charging. The Ace 5 is also expected to offer the same charging capabilities.

OnePlus is yet to confirm the OnePlus Ace 5 series launch date. Reports suggest that the Ace 5 Pro could arrive as the most affordable Snapdragon 8 Elite phone. At present, the Realme GT 7 Pro and the Redmi K80 Pro, which start at 3,699 Yuan (~$508), are the cheapest Snapdragon 8 Elite phones available in the Chinese market. Probably, the Ace 5 could arrive with a 100-yuan cheaper price tag to clinch the title of the most affordable Snapdragon 8 Elite phone.

According to reports, the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro may feature a 6.82-inch OLED panel that offers a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The topmost variant of the phone may offer 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

For selfies, it may feature a 16-megapixel front camera. The rear camera setup of the phone may feature a Sony iMX906 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS support, an ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 telephoto camera. It may house a battery of around 6,000mAh and run on ColorOS 15-based Android 15. It is also expected to feature a metal middle frame and a ceramic body.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s dual variants receive 3C certification, hints January 2025 launch

Smartphone brands, such as Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo are expected to announce their “Ultra” branded flagship phones in the first half of 2025 in China. There have been reports that the Oppo Find X8 Ultra and the Vivo X200 Ultra may remain exclusive to the Chinese market. However, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, like its predecessor, is expected to be available in multiple markets outside of China. According to a recent development, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to launch earlier in China than its predecessor.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra 3C certified in China

Xiaomi 15 Ultra 3C certified
Xiaomi 15 Ultra 3C certified

The 3C authority approved the Xiaomi 14 Ultra in February this year, marking its official launch in China in the same month. Phones typically launch about a month or two after appearing in China’s 3C database. Now, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra has surfaced in the 3C database, indicating that it may launch as early as January 2025 in China.

The screenshot above reveals that two variants of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, model numbers 25010PN30C and 25019PN30C, have achieved 3C certification. The former supports calls via Tiantong satellite connectivity, whereas the latter supports calls via Tiantong satellite connectivity and text messaging via Beidou satellite connectivity.

The 3C certification further reveals that both variants of the 15 Ultra may ship with Xiaomi’s MDY-14-EC charger, which supports up to 90W fast charging. While the 15 Ultra is expected to launch earlier than its predecessor in China, there is no clarity on whether it will hit the global market in January 2025.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra was announced for the global market at the Mobile World Congress (2024) in February this year. The company is likely to use the same platform to unveil it in the coming year.
