<p>While <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Qualcomm</a> is one of the main rivals of the Taiwanese chipmaker, MediaTek might have its sights set even beyond. Known tipster Ice Universe recently shared a GeekBench listing of the brand&#8217;s latest flagship <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dimensity-9000/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Dimensity 9000</a> SoC, and its performance was impressive. As of right now, the chipset is the company&#8217;s most powerful SoC ever and has managed to beat even Qualcomm&#8217;s current gen flagship, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1</a>, in some benchmarks.</p>
<p>No smartphone has launched with the new chip, however, many brands will be releasing their offerings soon. Looking at he GeekBench listing shared by Ice Universe, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Xiaomi</a> smartphone (which might be the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/redmi-k50-pro-plus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Redmi K50 Pro+</a>) scored 1309 points in the single core test and 4546 points in the multi core tests. In comparison, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-exynos-2200/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Exynos 2200</a> on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s22/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy S22</a> series got 1157 and 3307 points respectively. Similarly, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google-tensor/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Google Tensor</a> chip on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/google-pixel-6-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Pixel 6 Pro</a> also managed to receive a score of just 1042 and 2832 points in the same tests.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-426469 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/20211122193110.jpg?x10805" alt="MediaTeK Dimensity 9000" width="1280" height="640" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/20211122193110.jpg 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/20211122193110-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/20211122193110-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/20211122193110-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/20211122193110-696x348.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/20211122193110-1068x534.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/20211122193110-840x420.jpg 840w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></p>
<p>So, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a15-bionic/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple A15 Bionic</a> is the only chipset that managed to get a score that decisively beats the Dimensity 9000 SoC, with its score of 1734 in single core test and 4818 in the multi core test. Keep in mind that synthetic benchmarks only show raw performance and not how the chipset might actually perform in real life. But its still impressive that MediaTek managed to near Apple&#8217;s top SoC and even outperform Qualcomm, which is usually the go to chipset for flagship Android phones.</p>

A few key details about the Apple iPhone 14 series are already known and some more details have surfaced online.</p>
<p>In a <a href="https://twitter.com/mingchikuo/status/1503033974473760768">new report</a>, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that unlike the smartphones from Apple launched so far, the upcoming iPhone 14 models and iPhone 14 Pro models will have drastically different specifications.</p>
<figure id="attachment_437140" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-437140" style="width: 3642px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-437140 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/iPhone-14-Pro-Renders.jpeg?x10805" alt="Apple iPhone 14 Pro Render" width="3642" height="2234" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/iPhone-14-Pro-Renders.jpeg 3642w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/iPhone-14-Pro-Renders-300x184.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/iPhone-14-Pro-Renders-768x471.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/iPhone-14-Pro-Renders-1024x628.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/iPhone-14-Pro-Renders-696x427.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/iPhone-14-Pro-Renders-1068x655.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/iPhone-14-Pro-Renders-685x420.jpeg 685w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/iPhone-14-Pro-Renders-1920x1178.jpeg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 3642px) 100vw, 3642px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-437140" class="wp-caption-text">Apple iPhone 14 and 14 Pro Concept Renders</figcaption></figure>
<p>Kuo claims that the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a16">Apple A16 Bionic processor</a> will be powering only the Pro models of the iPhone 14 series, i.e. iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max while the regular models, i.e. iPhone 14 and 14 Max will have the Apple A15 Bionic processor.</p>
<p>Further, the upcoming lineup will have 6GB of RAM, which is an improvement when compared to the current-generation iPhones that have 4GB of RAM. However, the Pro models in the iPhone 14 series will have <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lpddr5">LPDDR5 RAM</a> while the standard models will keep using the LPDDR4X RAM.</p>
<p>Earlier it was reported that the Pro models will <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/01/13/apple-iphone-14-pro-dual-hole-cutout-display/">come with a dual pill-shaped punch-hole cutout</a> on top of the screen for housing the front-facing camera while the regular models will continue to have a notch.</p>
<p>Usually, the Pro and non-Pro models of the iPhones don&#8217;t have these many differences in terms of the core specifications but this year, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> appears to be experimenting with significantly different core internals for the iPhone models. To know for sure how much of this is true, we will have to wait for the official launch event later this year.</p>

The iPhone 14 series is expected to come with overhaul design improvements. Prosser has claimed that the iPhone 14 will not include the ‘mini’ model.</p>
<p>As per a <a href="https://twitter.com/jon_prosser/status/1439939087314608134">recent tweet by Prosser</a>, the iPhone 13 mini will be the last ‘mini’ named iPhone. To be specific, there will be no iPhone 14 mini, claims the tipster. It is still unclear whether the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-14">iPhone 14</a> lineup will include three or four devices. Unconfirmed reports have claimed that the four iPhone 14 models arriving next year could be iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.</p>

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>The news arrives from known tipster FrontTron, who shared the benchmark on Twitter. According to him, the benchmark tests were performed on a sample of the A15 chip. These results were discussed in a Korean forum called <a href="https://www.clien.net/service/board/park/16474970" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Clien</em></a>. Looking at the benchmarking results, the new A15 chip managed to achieve a peak score of 198 fps on the Manhattan 3.1 test. However, throttling caused the score to noticeably drop to around 140 to 150 fps in the second round of tests.</p>
<p>On the other hand, the iPhone 12 averages around 170.7 fps peak performance in this same benchmark test. As per FrontTron, the throttling did not seem like an issue since the overall peak is &#8220;way exceeding&#8221; the peak of the previous gen <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a14/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">A14 chip.</a> Although, the sharp drop in the second round test can&#8217;t be simply ruled out. But, this was a sample A15 that was from the July 2021 batch.</p>

Furthermore, despite the drop in performance due to throttling, it is still capable of outperforming its Android counterparts by a considerable margin. As of right now, there is no way of confirming this news so take it with a pinch of salt and stay tuned, as the Cupertino based giant is expected to launch this chip with the iPhone 13 later this month.</p>

<p>It is speculated that the Apple iPhone 14 lineup could come powered by the 3nm chipset manufactured by TSMC. However, the <a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/572/279.htm">latest report indicates</a> that may not be the case as the Taiwan-based manufacturer is facing delays.</p>
<figure id="attachment_357048" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-357048" style="width: 4000px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-357048 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Apple-iPhone-12-Featured.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple iPhone 12 Featured" width="4000" height="3000" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Apple-iPhone-12-Featured.jpg 4000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Apple-iPhone-12-Featured-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Apple-iPhone-12-Featured-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Apple-iPhone-12-Featured-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Apple-iPhone-12-Featured-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Apple-iPhone-12-Featured-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Apple-iPhone-12-Featured-696x522.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Apple-iPhone-12-Featured-1068x801.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Apple-iPhone-12-Featured-560x420.jpg 560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Apple-iPhone-12-Featured-1920x1440.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4000px) 100vw, 4000px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-357048" class="wp-caption-text">Apple iPhone 12</figcaption></figure>
<p>The report claims that TSMC has confirmed that its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/3nm">3nm process</a>, known as N3, has been delayed for mass-production by about 3-4 months. This means that the iPhone 14 lineup will miss the chipset (possibly named Apple A16 Bionic) manufactured using the 3nm process and instead will pack a processor made using the N4 process.</p>
<p>Previously, it was reported that Apple has already placed orders for the 4nm chip with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tsmc">Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company</a> and is set to go into production in the fourth quarter of this year.</p>
<p>Not only that, the Cupertino-based tech giant has already <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/08/16/apple-secure-majority-tsmc-3nm-over-intel/">booked the majority of TSMC&#8217;s capacity</a> for the production of 3nm chips over chip giant Intel. The 3nm chips are likely to go into production in the second half of next year and were expected to be powering the next-generation iPhone 14 series phones.</p>
<p>Similarly, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> is also reportedly facing production issues related to the 3nm chip and thus, its flagship smartphones getting launched next year could also come packed with the 4nm chipset and same will be the fate of Qualcomm&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-898">Snapdragon 898</a> given that the company is reliant on TSMC and Samsung for manufacturing.</p>
<p>Apple is all set to launch the iPhone 13 series smartphones in the market, possibly in the third week of September but the company has not yet revealed the launch date. All four models in the lineup &#8212; iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max are expected to come powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a15">Apple A15 Bionic chipset</a> manufactured using 5nm+ process by TSMC.</p>

In the latest development, Mark Gurman from <em>Bloomberg</em> reveals details about iPhone with Touch ID.</p>
<p>In the <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/account/newsletters/power-on"><em>Power On</em> newsletter</a>, he says that Apple won&#8217;t be launching iPhone 13 with an in-screen fingerprint sensor or Touch ID this year. He adds that the Cupertino-based tech giant has a &#8220;long-term goal&#8221; for adding Face ID under the display.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-405346 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple iPhone 13 to bring Potrait Mode and ProRes for videos" width="1024" height="507" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-300x149.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-768x380.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-324x160.jpg 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-696x345.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-848x420.jpg 848w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>It seems to be clear that Apple is sticking with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/face-id">Face ID</a> as it has a long-term commitment for the technology but there&#8217;s a possibility of iPhones getting Touch ID, at least for the low-end models from the brand. But it isn&#8217;t happening this year.</p>
<p>Mark Gurman says that there are two possible scenarios &#8212; high-end iPhone models with in-display Face ID and low-end models with Face ID sensors housed inside a notch on top of the display, similar to what Apple is currently offering.</p>
<p>On the other hand, the company could offer an in-display Face ID for the high-end models while the low-end models could feature <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/touch-id">Touch ID</a> houses inside the display.</p>
<p>The Apple iPhone 13 lineup is expected to come with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/03/02/apple-iphone-13-pro-120hz-display-smaller-notch/">slightly smaller notch</a> and will have a 120Hz refresh rate in the Pro variants. It is also being reiterated that the company will also be offering a 1TB internal storage model this time.</p>
<p>It is also claimed to have support for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">mmWave 5G</a> for countries outside of the United States. The phones are said to come with the space-saving internal circuitry, which should allow the company to offer a larger battery inside the device.</p>
<p>A recent report claims that the new iPhones will come with support for 25W fast charging technology, a slight upgrade from the current 22W charging. It is also expected to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/07/23/apple-iphone-13-lineup-will-feature-lidar-scanner-and-up-to-1tb-of-storage/">come with a LiDAR scanner</a>.</p>
<p>The upcoming flagship smartphone series from Apple will come with notable hardware upgrades. It points out to a faster and more power-efficient <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a15">A15 Bionic chipset</a> manufactured using TSMC&#8217;s 5nm+ process.</p>
<p>So far, Apple has not announced the launch date for this upcoming iPhone series but reports indicate that the devices <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/08/18/apple-iphone-13-september-launch/">could go official in the third week of September</a>. To know for sure, we&#8217;ll have to wait for a few more days.</p>

Now, a new prediction from TrendMicro talks about the battery capacity and pricing of the upcoming iPhone 13 lineup.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://insider.trendforce.com/2021/08/12/iphone-shipment-resumes-its-upward-trajectory-in-3q21-with-30-yoy-increase/">report coming</a> from Taiwan-based TrendMicro says that the upcoming flagship smartphone series from Apple will come with notable hardware upgrades. It points out to a faster and more power-efficient chipset manufactured using a 5nm+ process, which is presumably the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a15">Apple A15 Bionic</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-405346 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple iPhone 13 to bring Potrait Mode and ProRes for videos" width="1024" height="507" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-300x149.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-768x380.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-324x160.jpg 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-696x345.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-848x420.jpg 848w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>It also claims support for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">mmWave 5G</a> for countries outside of the United States. The phones are said to come with the space-saving internal circuitry, which should allow the company to offer a larger battery inside the device. Everything that TrendMicro pointed out in its report has already been revealed earlier.</p>
<p>A report claims that the new iPhones will come with support for 25W fast charging technology, a slight upgrade from the current 22W charging. It is also expected to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/07/23/apple-iphone-13-lineup-will-feature-lidar-scanner-and-up-to-1tb-of-storage/">come with a LiDAR scanner.</a></p>
<p>In terms of design, the series is expected to come with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/03/02/apple-iphone-13-pro-120hz-display-smaller-notch/">slightly smaller notch</a> and will have a 120Hz refresh rate. Notably, the higher refresh rate is expected only in the Pro variants. There&#8217;s a possibility that the company may offer a 1TB storage model this time.</p>
<p>According to a leak, the upcoming iPhones are expected to feature improved fast charging support. Instead of 20W fast charging, the upcoming iPhone series is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/07/26/apple-iphone-13-25w-charging/">rumored to support 25W fast charging</a> technology.</p>
<p>As for the pricing, it is said that the iPhone 13 series will be priced similarly to the current-generation <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-iphone-12">iPhone 12 series</a>. Apple is expected to keep up with the usual launch timeline to announce the upcoming iPhone 13 lineup in September this year. The iPhone 12 series was announced in October last year, a month later than its usual timeframe, because of the issues related to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/covid-19">COVID-19 pandemic</a>.</p>

<p>According to new rumors (Via <a href="https://wccftech.com/apple-ordered-100-million-a15-bionic-chips-from-tsmc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>WccFTech</em></a>), the Cupertino based giant is expecting to see high demands for its 2021 iPhone series and has, thus, asked suppliers to raise production by 20 percent compared to the previous generation iPhone 12. The suppliers include the world&#8217;s largest contract chipmaker, TSMC, who will be supplying the iPhone maker with a whopping 100 million units of its custom chipset, as per the recent rumors.</p>
<p>Although, the shipments of A15 Bionic chipsets will not be solely for the upcoming iPhone 13. The company will also reportedly be keeping an extra stock of the latest chipset for any upcoming products. This might include the likes of the iPad Mini 6, which is expected to launch later this year with a redesign. Previous reports had also claimed that the A15 Bionic will power the next iPhone SE as well.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Despite other products also featuring the A15 Bionic chip, the majority of the new processors will be reserved for the iPhone 13 that is expected to see high demand. For those unaware, the A15 will sport a core configuration similar to the A14, with four power efficiency cores and 2 high powered cores. Although, the new chip will feature a new and advanced 5nm process from TSMC.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-400069 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/A15-Bionic-1030x579.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple" width="1030" height="579" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/A15-Bionic-1030x579.jpg 1030w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/A15-Bionic-1030x579-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/A15-Bionic-1030x579-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/A15-Bionic-1030x579-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/A15-Bionic-1030x579-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/A15-Bionic-1030x579-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1030px) 100vw, 1030px" /></p>
<p>According to a <a href="https://wccftech.com/a15-bionic-same-six-core-configuration-as-a14-bionic/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>WccFTech</em> </a>report, the upcoming processor from the Cupertino based giant will arrive with a similar CPU configuration that we have seen before. Although, this new iteration will likely arrive with improvements to its performance and power efficiency. While the A15 Bionic will arrive with various improvements, it will still sport the same number of cores in the CPU, which is 6. However, the notable difference in the new chipset is that it will be<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/19/apple-a15-tsmc-n5p-future-chips-4nm-process/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> made on the N5P node from TSMC</a>.</p>
<p>For those unaware, the A14 Bionic was built on a 5nm process from TSMC, but the upcoming node is expected to offer certain improvements over the 5nm architecture. This also implies that the Cupertino based giant has yet to shift towards the 4nm process this year. Looking at the A14, it featured two high performance cores paired with four power efficient cores, so we can expect the A15 to follow a similar layout.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, another report (Via <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-07-14/apple-seeks-up-to-20-increase-in-new-iphone-production-for-2021" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Bloomberg</em></a>) has also revealed that Apple is raising production for its iPhone 13 series by 20 percent over its predecessors. Usually, the brand targets around 75 million units for the initial run of its iPhone&#8217;s launch till the end of the year. But robust sales of the iPhone 12 series have apparently led to Apple asking its suppliers to build as many as 90 million units of the 2021 iPhone, as it expects 5G to become a standard that would push its users for an upgrade.</p>

This new rumor has also revealed that the iPhone 13 models will feature larger battery capacities.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-392763 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Screenshot-282.png?x10805" alt="Apple" width="734" height="591" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Screenshot-282.png 734w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Screenshot-282-300x242.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Screenshot-282-696x560.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Screenshot-282-522x420.png 522w" sizes="(max-width: 734px) 100vw, 734px" /></p>
<p>The news arrives from a known tipster on <a href="https://www.weibo.com/u/6048569942?is_all=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Weibo</em></a>, a Chinese microblogging website. As per this rumor, the upcoming iPhone 13 lineup will be powered by battery capacities that are larger than the previous generation. The social media post claims that the high end iPhone 13 Pro Max will feature a 4352mAh battery, which is a notable jump from the current iPhone 12 Pro Max&#8217;s 3687mAh battery.</p>
<p>Similarly, the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 Pro will house an identical 3095mAh battery, which is higher than the 2815mAh battery from the previous generation. The smallest lineup of the model, the iPhone 13 mini, will also feature a larger 2406mAh battery capacity compared to the iPhone 12 mini&#8217;s 2227mAh battery pack. Keep in mind, that even if this rumor was true, battery sizes do not paint a clear story regarding smartphone&#8217;s battery life.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-389123 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple" width="1600" height="901" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs.jpg 1600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs-1024x577.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs-746x420.jpg 746w" sizes="(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" /></p>
<p>The Cupertino based giant&#8217;s new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a15/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">A15</a> chipset is likely to also bring improvements in performance along with power efficiency as well. So, the larger batteries paired with a more efficient chipset could noticeably improve battery life throughout the entire iPhone 13 series. Unfortunately, this is still an unconfirmed report so take it with a pinch of salt and stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding the upcoming smartphones.</p>

<p>According to a <a href="https://www.counterpointresearch.com/foundry-industry-revenue-growth-continue-2021/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Counterpoint Research</em></a> report (Via <a href="https://9to5mac.com/2021/01/11/5nm-chips-2/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>9to5Mac</em></a>), Apple will be the leader in terms of 5nm chip in the current year. Furthermore, it is also one of the major reasons why <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Qualcomm</a> will arrive second in the market for the same. Although, the chipmaker would only account for a quarter of the total 5nm chip shipments. The report also adds that 2020 was a good year for chipmakers, with 2021 likely being the same as well. Meanwhile, the South Korean tech giant is said to be 6 to 9 months behind <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tsmc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TSMC</a>, Apple&#8217;s primary chip supplier.</p>

<p>As per the report, 7nm and 5nm chips saw a surge in demand, especially with the growth of the 5G enabled smartphone market, new gaming console launch, and AI/GPU in cloud servers. The year also marked a growth of 23 percent year on year for the foundry industry, which reached about 82 billion US Dollars. Similarly, even 2021 is expected to witness growth as well, although, it would not be as large in comparison to 2020, growing by 12 percent year on year to reach 92 billion US Dollars in total.</p>

<p>The report also estimates that Apple will be the largest customer for the 5nm processes. These processes would be used for the Cupertino based giant&#8217;s upcoming 5nm+ process based chips for 2021, as its current gen A14 chips are already built on the existing 5nm process. One of the reasons why Qualcomm is expected to arrive second, beating Samsung, is due to the fact that it would be supplying Apple with modem chips. However, this might not benefit the chipmaker for too long as the company is expected to soon launch its own modems as well.</p>

It is one of the first in the smartphone industry to be manufactured using the 5nm process.</p>
<p>Now, reports about the company&#8217;s upcoming Apple A15 Bionic chip are making rounds. It is believed that the technology giant is again partnering with manufacturer <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tsmc">TSMC</a> to push for ever smaller nodes for the upcoming processor.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-301818 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1300" height="648" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo.jpg 1300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-768x383.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-1024x510.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-696x347.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-1068x532.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-843x420.jpg 843w" sizes="(max-width: 1300px) 100vw, 1300px" /></p>
<p>According to the <a href="https://www.trendforce.com/presscenter/news/20201118-10556.html">new report</a> from TrendForce, the next-generation <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/chipset">smartphone processor</a> from Apple, which is expected to be named A15 Bionic, will be manufactured using the 5nm+ processor, which is being referred by the company as N5P.</p>
<p>TSMC says that the N5P node is the performance-enhanced version of the current 5nm process and is claimed by the Taiwanese company to deliver additional power efficiency and performance improvements.</p>
<p>This is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/27/apple-a15-chipset-tsmc-np5-node/">in line with the previous report</a> which also added that the company is planning to mass-produce the upcoming chipset in Q3 2021.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK: </span><a title="Samsung Galaxy S21 powered by SD875 appears on Geekbench scoring lower than Exynos 2100" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/19/samsung-galaxy-s21-sd875-geekbench/" rel="bookmark">Samsung Galaxy S21 powered by SD875 appears on Geekbench scoring lower than Exynos 2100</a></strong></p>
<p>Reports about Apple&#8217;s chip doesn&#8217;t stop there. The next chipset that will come after the A15, the Apple A16, most likely in the year 2022, is said to be based on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/09/tsmc-announces-a-new-4nm-process-an-enhanced-version-of-the-5nm-process/">TSMC&#8217;s 4nm process</a>, which the company is currently working on. This should offer more improvements for performance and power efficiency.</p>
<p>It seems that Apple wants to be the leading company when it comes to innovations and pushing the boundaries for performance and power efficiency. This shouldn&#8217;t be limited to just smartphone chips. Given that TSMC also manufactures Apple&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/11/apple-unveils-the-m1-chipset-a-powerful-8-core-processor-for-the-mac/">newly launched M1 chipset</a>, the advancement in the process will extend to future Apple Silicon chips as well.</p>
<p>Apart from the 5nm process, manufacturers like TSMC and Samsung Electronics have already started working on the 3nm and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/26/tsmc-new-roadmap-plans-2nm-chip-factory/">2nm process</a>, which are expected to be ready for mass-production by 2025.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-301818 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1300" height="648" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo.jpg 1300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-768x383.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-1024x510.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-696x347.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-1068x532.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-843x420.jpg 843w" sizes="(max-width: 1300px) 100vw, 1300px" /></p>
<p>A <a href="https://www.chinatimes.com/newspapers/20201026000140-260202">report coming from China Times</a> claims that the A15 Bionic will be manufactured using the N5P node by TSMC, which is among the three variants of 5nm node being developed by the Taiwanese manufacturer.</p>
<p>It also adds that the mass-production for the same could start in the third quarter of the upcoming year, i.e. Q3 2021. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> has reportedly started working on the same to avoid any delays as the company had to delay the launch of this year&#8217;s iPhone models because of the COVID-19 pandemic.</p>

<p>Recently, it was reported that TSMC’s facility for the production of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5nm">5nm</a> chips has been fully booked by Apple and the reason for the preferential treatment is likely the fact that almost one-fifth of the company’s total revenue comes from the Cupertino-based tech giant.</p>
<p>This probably is the reason which led to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/08/samsung-makes-5g-qualcomm-chips/">Samsung getting orders from Qualcomm</a> for the mass-production of the upcoming flagship chipset &#8212; Snapdragon 875, which is also being manufactured using a 5nm node.</p>
<p>While the Apple A15 Bionic chipset is expected to use the 5nm process, manufacturers like TSMC and Samsung have already started working on more advanced technologies, which includes a 3nm process and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/25/tsmc-breakthrough-2nm-development-chips-2024/">even a 2nm process</a>, which will be ready for use in mass-production of chipsets in the coming years.</p>
