ColorOS 6 is the latest version of Oppo’s long-running ColorOS Android skin, like Flyme and MIUI. It’s never really been seen on the same level as MIUI, but they’ve been improving.

The new version of ColorOS features a brand new design philosophy, that being borderless design. We’re not exactly sure what that entails, but Oppo claims there will be a big focus on lighter and eye-catching colours. Over 3500 new have been redone to fit this new design philosophy, and every app has been redesigned to work with it.

Editor’s Pick: Oppo trademarks Find Y smartphone, could be the first with under-display camera

We’ve also got a few new features to go with everything we’ve already seen. There’s TouchBoost, which is essentially a performance mode like on gaming phones. We’ve got FrameBoost, a feature that intelligently improves “frame rate stability” on devices. On top of that, there’s a new Breeno voice assistant and a monitoring mode that helps parents keep track of their children.

If you have an Oppo Find X, all you need to do is go to your phone’s update page to register. Opening the menu on the top right should give you the option to participate in the update. If you’ve signed up, tell us how things are going down in the comments below! Until then, stay tuned on Gizmochina.com for more updates on ColorOS 6.

The conference was aimed at helping developers with commercialization, advertising alliance, among others.

Oppo claims that the company has more than 300 million active monthly users for its ColorOS, which is the company’s custom interface for Android. It also revealed that there are over 200 million users of Oppo Browser, with a daily average usage of 35 minutes.

The company further says that its market has 310 million users in more than 40 countries and regions around the world, with 680 million software distributed daily. It also announced “Oppo Application Intermodal” and will go through the Oppo platform screening and recommendation.

It will enable Oppo users to find high-quality content, for developers to locate the core users, in what the company calls a win-win situation. The smart algorithm used for user portraits is called “Sky Spectrum”, which uses 38 labels and other differentiation methods to pinpoint core users.

Also, Liang Xiaoyun, head of operations for Oppo Advertising Alliance, said that the company’s ability to analyze the users with big data can help provide users with high-quality advertising experience. For developers, they’ve added a feature of native ads to provide developers with a wealth of commercial solutions.

Editor’s Pick: Oppo officially announces ColorOS 6 with a fresh design and several optimizations

Earlier this year, in March, Oppo officially announced a new version of its operating system — ColorOS 6.0. The company said that it opted for a border-less symmetry based on invisible lines and grids. The stock applications also offer proper full-screen experience with cleaner borders and other UI elements.

The company has also shifted towards a lighter color-tone which resembles the Google Material Design language with plenty of white. It also brings several operational changes as well. The navigation panel now includes shortcuts and the app drawer has also been added, which can be accessed through the swipe-up gesture from the home screen.

The newly announced Android skin is now available on the Oppo F11 Pro. It comes with several improvements compared to its predecessor.

In terms of design, the company says that it has opted for a border-less symmetry which is based on invisible lines and grids. With this, the stock applications now offer proper full-screen experience with cleaner borders and other UI elements.

The company has also shifted towards a lighter color-tone which resembles the Google Material Design language with plenty of white. However, the company is offering users the ability to replace the white color with their own color choice through theme engine.

Apart from the design related changes, the new custom skin also brings in several operational changes as well. The navigation panel now includes shortcuts and the app drawer has also been added, which can be accessed through the swipe-up gesture from the home screen.

In order to reduce power consumption, the company has introduced a feature called “AI Cold Storage” which uses artificial intelligence to freeze background apps. It also comes with a “Remote Guard” feature that lets parents monitor their children’s phone usage.

With a feature called “Touch Boost”, the company promises up to 22 percent faster touch response while the “Frame Boost” feature offers up to 40 percent improvement in frame rate stability. Both of these features are the part of Game Boost 2.0 mode on the ColorOS 6.

It also comes with System Boost and App Boost mode, which as the name itself suggests, improves the general performance of the system and app launches. The new ColorOS 6 also comes with improvements for app notifications, night mode for photography, among others.

As for the availability, the ColorOS 6 is available for the Oppo F11 Pro users out-of-the-box. It will also be present in the upcoming Opp Reno smartphone, that is scheduled to launch on 10th April. Next month, the update for this new interface will be rolled out to Oppo R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition.

A lot of OPPO users are wondering why there isn’t a wider rollout yet. Yesterday, the vice president of OPPO, Brian Shen addressed their concerns in a Weibo post.

According to the company executive, the announcement last year was just a presentation showing what is to come. He added that the upgrade plan will be announced later this month.

The official ColorOS Weibo account joined the conversation and said optimizations and changes are being made at the moment. These will take some time but users will have to be patient.

The update is now available for the regular OPPO R15.

ColorOS 6 brings a brand new interface along with Android 9 Pie to the OPPO R15. The new UI uses a lot of white and also tries to reduce the use of text to create a non-clustered interface. OPPO says the new OS has been designed for full-screen (18:9 and up displays) phones.

The update also brings a new Chinese font called OPPO Sans, and an AI-based application freeze feature that learns which apps are frequently used and which to suspend to free up system resources. Once an app has not been used for more than 20 minutes, the system will already know based on studied usage pattern if it is an app that is frequently used to know if it should freeze it or not.

The announcement was made by the official ColorOS Weibo account. According to the post, ColorOS brings a new UI designed for bezel-less phones (read full-screen displays).

Owners of the OPPO R15 Dream Mirror Edition can now install the public beta by going to Settings > Software update. The update is being pushed out in batches so you may have to check multiple times.

The OPPO R15 Dream Mirror Edition is still yet to get the update to ColorOS 5.2, the latest stable version, so it is a big surprise that a more recent update albeit beta is already available.

There is no changelog yet, so we can’t list the features that are bundled with the update. We also cannot confirm if it is based on Android 9 Pie. If you own the OPPO R15 Dream Mirror Edition and have received the update, you can send the changelog to us.

The OPPO R15 Dream Mirror Edition was launched back in April of this year. It has a 6.28-inch FHD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. It has a Snapdragon 660 processor, 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage.

Dual 16MP + 20MP cameras sit on the rear of the phone and a 20MP sensor is housed inside the notch of the display. It also has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3430mAh battery with support for VOOC Flash Charge.

The post was actually reshared from the account of Chris Chen Xi, who used to work for Meizu‘s Flyme OS but now works for OPPO. In the original post, Mr. Chen revealed he will share details about ColorOS 6.0 at 12 noon on November 22, the same date as the 5th anniversary of ColorOS.

So far, the only thing we have heard about the new OS is its revamped design and that it will bring improvements in the performance of both flagship and low-end phones. It is also expected to bring Android 9 Pie to eligible devices.
