Samsung is bringing its AI experience to more Galaxy branded devices. The company’s Galaxy AI was first unveiled back in January 2024, alongside the latest Galaxy S24 series of flagship smartphones. Now, this feature is arriving to the Galaxy S22 series and other Galaxy devices. So let’s check it out.

The Galaxy AI feature is arriving on older devices with the One UI 6.1 update. It is set to roll out for Samsung smartphones and tablets that were previously launched. So here’s a list of all the eligible devices:

The brand previously shared this list but it was assumed to be the South Korean release timeframe at the time. But now, we have an official confirmation for its global roll out. The devices mentioned above will get the update in early May 2024, which is in line with our previous report.

For those unaware, the Galaxy AI will be integrated with the One UI 6.1 update and brings a bunch of features like Circle to Search with Google. Samsung also confirmed the arrival of Chat Assist, Interpreter, Live Translate, Note Assist, Browsing Assist, Transcript Assist, Generative Edit, Edit Suggestion, and AI powered wallpapers. Samsung has just began rolling out the beta for its Android 13 OS based One UI 5 custom skin for its current flagship series of Galaxy S22 smartphones. The new beta brings a number of improvements, updates, as well as the latest version of Android operating system as well.

The latest beta from the South Korean tech giants brings a number of minor changes, which includes refresh to the overall UI along with improvements to the security, notifications, camera system, and much more. Samsung has seen a positive reception with its latest flagship series of smartphones. Recently, the company launched its Galaxy S22 series in India as well, and has apparently recorded sales worth 1,500 crore INR (roughly 196 million US Dollars) in the country.

For those unaware, the South Korean tech giant launched the Galaxy S22 series of flagship handsets about half a month ago. In recent times, the brand has been facing stiff competition in the premium smartphone segment, against brands like Apple. But it seems like its latest high end offering has seen robust performance this time around. At the moment, the company’s focusing on Galaxy S and Fold series of smartphones, which also contribute around 20 percent of its overall India phone sales.

The Galaxy S22 series starts from 71,000 INR (roughly 930 US Dollars) and tops out at 110,000 INR (roughly 1,440 US Dollars). It was first announced in the region back in February 2022, with devices being delivered on March 11. Notably, the Galaxy S22 Ultra Unboxing event with customers also set a Guinness World Record as well.

Raju Pullan, senior VP and head of sales and retail for Samsung stated that the demand for the flagship devices is strong and the company is confident in meeting delivery targets despite the ongoing chip shortage. He further added that “Overall sales for Samsung had grown by double digit in 2021, and we expect a stronger momentum through this year. We expect to be ahead of the broader market due to a strong traction for premium devices such as the Fold and the Galaxy S Series.”

Recently, it was found that Samsung Galaxy S22 series of smartphones were limited the performance of certain applications. So now, GeekBench has officially delisted the entire flagship lineup from its database.

For those unaware, the South Korean tech giant’s Galaxy S22 series was limiting the performance of more than 1,000 apps. These applications were also the ones that were added to the Game Optimization Service (GOS) list. The GOS is supposed to optimize the performance of these apps and prevent the smartphone from throttling due to thermal issues. However, the GOS was found to be limited the performance of the apps listed on GOS. In other words, they were not utilizing the proper potential of the smartphone’s chipset.

Notably, the list of apps found in the GOS included the likes of Snapchat, LinkedIn, Microsoft Office, and a number of games as well. On the other hand, benchmarking apps like GeekBench and 3DMark were not a part of the list. Although, GeekBench still decided to delist the Galaxy S22 series and some older smartphones from its database on the GeekBench browser due to this GOS issue.

Following this GOS controversy, an GeekBench also conducted an extensive internal testing, which found that older Galaxy models also use GOS. This includes the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy S20 series, and even the Galaxy S10 series as well. Thus, all of these smartphone models have been delisted on the known benchmarking platform since they technically manipulate the benchmark’s results. Samsung stated in its defense that the GOS is only meant to prevent heating issues during long gameplay.

Last week, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S22 series at the Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event globally, After teasing for days, the company has finally revealed the pricing of its latest flagship smartphones in India. Let’s check out how much they cost in the country.

First and foremost, the Galaxy S22 family of premium smartphones is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC instead of the Exynos 2200 chipset in India. No matter which model you purchase, whether it is Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, or Galaxy S22 Ultra, you will get a phone with the latest chip from Qualcomm.

Secondly, apart from the ultra, the vanilla and plus are not getting all the official colors in the region at launch. Even for the former, one of the three official colors is not available for the top memory variant. Sadly, there are no official online-exclusive colors as well.

Talking about storage, the Galaxy S22 Ultra maxes out at 512GB rather than 1TB. On the other hand, the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22+ are limited to 256GB just like in other markets.

Coming to the price, the newest Galaxy S series phones start at ₹72,999 in India. They go all the way up to ₹1,18,999.

Samsung will be taking the wraps off the Galaxy S22 series on February 9. We are only two days away from the launch and leaks are not stopping since they began a few months back. The latest report on smartphones reveals their pricing and availability details for the company’s home market.

According to a report by ETNews (via SamMobile), the pre-registrations for the Galaxy S22 lineup in South Korea will start from February 14. Further, Samsung will accept pre-orders from February 21. Finally, the company will begin shipping to customers from February 25.

As far as price is concerned, the report says that Samsung has decided to retain the pricing of the Galaxy S21 series for the Galaxy S22 family in its home country despite an increase in manufacturing costs due to supply shortages. The firm has allocated around 700,000 to 800,000 units and aims to continue its market dominance without delaying the launch as well as increasing the price.

This means the base 128GB variant of the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22+ will start at ₩999,900 and ₩1199,000 respectively. These devices will be also offered in a 256GB version but the price for that is not mentioned in the report.

Lastly, the Galaxy S22 Ultra with built-in S Pen is said to retail at  ₩1452,000 and  ₩1599,400 for the 256GB and the 512GB memory configurations respectively. The handset will be also offered in a 1TB storage variant at an undisclosed price tag.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is expected to make its debut in early February. However, a new rumor from South Korea now says that the handsets will probably release later than the stipulated timeline. Let’s take a look at the reason behind the delay.

A post on Naver (via SamMobile) states that Samsung has postponed the launch of the Galaxy S22 series. The successor of the Galaxy S21 series will not go official on the date revealed by a carrier source at the end of November. The reason behind the delay is said to be supply chain constraints.

For the unaware, the pre-orders for the Galaxy S22 series were anticipated to go live on February 8 in South Korea. Whereas, the sales were scheduled to kick off around February 18. If the latest rumor happens to be true, then the sales will be likely delayed until late February or early March, suggests Twitter user @GaryeonHan.

The entire smartphone industry is facing issues related to the supply chain. So it’s not surprising to learn that Samsung is also affected by this. In fact, due to this very same reason, the South Korean tech giant has delayed the launch of the Galaxy S21 FE multiple times. This device is now expected to release in January ahead of the Galaxy S22 family.

Samsung is expected to launch the Samsung Galaxy S22 series in the first quarter of next year, with the lineup comprised of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, S22+, and S22. While it was already known that the S22 Ultra would be packing a 108MP primary camera, an industry insider has now tipped the camera specifications of the S22+ and S22 as well.

Ice Universe has shared that both the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ will share identical camera hardware for both the front and back shooters, just like this year’s S21 series.

Both phones will feature a 50MP primary camera with a 1/1.57″ sensor size and f/1.8 aperture. Number two is a 10MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and 1/3.94″ sensor size with support for 3x optical zoom. The last is a 12MP ultrawide angle camera with a 1/2.55″ sensor size and f/2.2 aperture.

Upfront, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ seem to retain the same 10MP selfie shooter found on their predecessors with a pixel size of 1.22µm, sensor size of 1/3.24″, and an aperture of f/2.2.

The tipster has also confirmed the screen sizes of both the models once again stating that the Samsung Galaxy S22 will have a screen size of 6.06-inches while the S22+ will feature a larger 6.55-inch screen. Both models are more compact than this year’s offerings. For comparison, the S21+ has a screen size of 6.7-inches while the S21’s screen is sized at 6.2-inches.

Apart from this, not much is known about the Galaxy S22 series as of now other than them being powered by the Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chips. The mass production of the devices is said to begin next month.

The Galaxy S22 series is now frequently in the news. We have been learning more details about Samsung’s next-gen flagship smartphones with their every new appearance on the web. The latest report regarding these phones reveals their pre-order timeline.

According to the sources of reliable tipster Jon Prosser (Front Page Tech), the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S22 series will be available for pre-orders in the sixth week of 2022. This means customers will be available to pre-order the smartphones from the second week of February.

The pre-order timeline revealed by the leaker could be mostly for the US although he does not specify the country. That’s because his leaks are chiefly targeted at the US audience, Anyway, since Samsung is known for taking pre-orders in multiple regions alongside the US, the timeframe should be applicable to other usual first-wave countries as well.

The Galaxy S22 series was initially reported to launch in January. But that does not appear to be the case anymore. Because Samsung will be releasing the Galaxy S21 FE in the first month of 2022 instead.

Multiple sources have suggested that the Galaxy S21 FE will go official in early January. Jon Prosser even says that the handset will launch on January 11. Generally, when Prosser mentions ‘launch date’, he means the ‘sale date’.

The Galaxy S21 FE was initially expected to release alongside Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 but that never happened. The phone later went through multiple delays and as a result, Samsung now appears to have delayed the Galaxy S22 series from January to February.
