<p>Whether tablets can truly replace laptops has long been a contentious discussion. But there’s no denying that tablets are becoming more and more like laptops. Today’s flagship tablets come with their own dedicated keyboards, support mouse connectivity, and even include a stylus. After spending some hands-on time with the HUAWEI MatePad Pro 12.2-inch and its accessories, I finally understand why this debate persists. Let’s explore the advantages of tablets over laptops while introducing the brand-new MatePad Pro.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/5-scaled.jpg?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="2560" height="1437" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/5-scaled.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-697731" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/5-scaled.jpg 2560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/5-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/5-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/5-768x431.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/5-1536x862.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/5-2048x1150.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/5-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/5-1068x600.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/5-1920x1078.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/5-748x420.jpg 748w" sizes="(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px" /></figure></a></div>

<h3><strong>Weight &amp; Thickness</strong></h3>

<p>Those who want to replace their laptops with tablets are likely frustrated with the weight and bulk of laptops. Even the lightest and thinnest laptops typically weigh over 1 kg and exceed 10 mm in thickness. Tablets, however, easily cut these numbers in half. Take the MatePad Pro 12.2-inch, for example—it weighs just 508g and is only 5.5mm thick. This is an incredibly appealing selling point for people who frequently work on the go.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/10-scaled.jpg?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="2560" height="1437" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/10-scaled.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-697730" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/10-scaled.jpg 2560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/10-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/10-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/10-768x431.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/10-1536x862.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/10-2048x1150.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/10-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/10-1068x600.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/10-1920x1078.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/10-748x420.jpg 748w" sizes="(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px" /></figure></a></div>

<h3><strong>Glide Keyboard</strong></h3>

<p>If you want your tablet to serve more like a laptop, a keyboard case is a must. The HUAWEI Glide Keyboard is one of the most sophisticated keyboard cases I’ve ever seen. It allows the tablet to hover at adjustable angles and can even be used on your lap, just like a laptop. If you want to draw, you can flip it 180° backward. The hinge area even features a slot for the stylus, so you’ll never lose it when carrying the tablet in a bag.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="2560" height="1437" data-id="697738" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/7-scaled.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-697738" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/7-scaled.jpg 2560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/7-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/7-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/7-768x431.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/7-1536x862.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/7-2048x1150.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/7-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/7-1068x600.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/7-1920x1078.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/7-748x420.jpg 748w" sizes="(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px" /></figure>
</figure>

<p>Best of all, it’s lightweight—just 417g, about 28% lighter than the Apple 11-inch Magic Keyboard. After attaching the Glide Keyboard, the MatePad Pro still only weighs 925g, and its thickness increases to 13.6mm, still thinner than most laptops.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/8-scaled.jpg?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="2560" height="1437" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/8-scaled.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-697732" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/8-scaled.jpg 2560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/8-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/8-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/8-768x431.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/8-1536x862.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/8-2048x1150.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/8-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/8-1068x600.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/8-1920x1078.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/8-748x420.jpg 748w" sizes="(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px" /></figure></a></div>

<h3><strong>Display</strong></h3>

<p>A significant portion of this thousand-dollar tablet’s cost goes into its Tandem OLED display. With 2000 nits peak brightness and ultra-thin bezels, this screen is a standout. The PaperMatte glass cover (similar to the iPad Pro’s Nano-texture glass) delivers an unprecedented writing experience with the stylus. If you’re looking for a touchscreen laptop with specs matching the MatePad Pro, you simply won’t find one. So, if you need a premium media consumption device, the MatePad Pro outperforms any laptop.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/9-scaled.jpg?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="2560" height="1437" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/9-scaled.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-697733" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/9-scaled.jpg 2560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/9-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/9-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/9-768x431.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/9-1536x862.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/9-2048x1150.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/9-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/9-1068x600.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/9-1920x1078.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/9-748x420.jpg 748w" sizes="(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px" /></figure></a></div>

<h3><strong>M-Pencil &amp; Mouse</strong></h3>

<p>If you splurge on the HUAWEI M-Pencil, congratulations—you’ve unlocked the tablet’s killer feature: an exceptional writing experience. I’m not exaggerating—it’s on par with the Apple Pencil (2nd Gen). The latency is nearly imperceptible, and with 10,000+ pressure sensitivity levels, you have full control over stroke thickness.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/3-scaled.jpg?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="2560" height="1437" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/3-scaled.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-697734" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/3-scaled.jpg 2560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/3-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/3-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/3-768x431.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/3-1536x862.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/3-2048x1150.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/3-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/3-1068x600.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/3-1920x1078.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/3-748x420.jpg 748w" sizes="(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>Unlike the Apple Pencil Pro, the M-Pencil doesn’t yet support rotating the barrel to adjust pen and brush tool orientation.</p>

<p>We also got our hands on the HUAWEI NearLink Mouse, which boasts top-tier build quality. Powered by a single AA battery (lasting months), it supports multi-device pairing (up to four devices via USB-C dongle)—a flawless productivity mouse.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/2-scaled.jpg?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="2560" height="1437" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/2-scaled.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-697735" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/2-scaled.jpg 2560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/2-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/2-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/2-768x431.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/2-1536x862.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/2-2048x1150.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/2-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/2-1068x600.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/2-1920x1078.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/2-748x420.jpg 748w" sizes="(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px" /></figure></a></div>

<h3><strong>Experience</strong></h3>

<p>Since HUAWEI hasn’t officially disclosed the MatePad Pro’s processor model, we don’t know which Kirin SoC it uses. Given HUAWEI’s current challenges, we won’t judge its performance too harshly, as long as it handles office tasks smoothly. To boost productivity, the MatePad Pro introduces a new multi-task view, keeping apps alive instead of killing them in the background. You can freely resize app windows and run up to three apps simultaneously.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/1-scaled.jpg?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="2560" height="1437" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/1-scaled.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-697736" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/1-scaled.jpg 2560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/1-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/1-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/1-768x431.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/1-1536x862.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/1-2048x1150.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/1-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/1-1068x600.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/1-1920x1078.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/1-748x420.jpg 748w" sizes="(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px" /></figure></a></div>

<h3><strong>Final Verdict</strong></h3>

<p>For entertainment and light productivity, tablets can absolutely replace laptops. <p>Huawei is gearing up to release its latest MatePad tablet, having secured radio and network certification for the device. The tablet, with the model number TGR-L10, is expected to join the MatePad series as its latest addition.</p>

<p>According to reliable sources, including tipster @DigitalChatStation, the TGR-L10 MatePad tablet is set to be a powerhouse, potentially featuring the Kirin 9000 chipset. This chipset is renowned for its performance prowess, promising seamless multitasking and smooth user experience.</p>

<p>Certification details indicate that the MatePad TGR-L10 will support various network standards, including TD-LTE, LTE FDD, WCDMA, and GSM, ensuring widespread connectivity capabilities. Despite specific design and internal parameter details being kept under wraps, there&#8217;s substantial speculation regarding its potential features.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="902" height="684" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/image-37.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-616515" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/image-37.png 902w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/image-37-300x227.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/image-37-768x582.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/image-37-696x528.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/image-37-554x420.png 554w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/image-37-80x60.png 80w" sizes="(max-width: 902px) 100vw, 902px" /></figure>

This model is expected to support Nearlink technology, enabling seamless connectivity with compatible accessories such as keyboards and mice. <p>Now we have reviewed many tablets over the years, and we haven’t got a tablet quite like this one, the HUAWEI Matepad Pro 13.2 inches, this is not a typical tablet like you may have before, rather much like a laptop for productivity, and gaming, and when paired up with this Nearlink pen, writing and drawing experience are the best among all.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe loading="lazy" title="HUAWEI MatePad Pro 13.2 Review: Seriously, It&#039;s So Versatile!" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/CcXAIb9bknw?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<h2><strong>Body and Screen</strong></h2>

<p>The first impression I got from this tablet is that, it is truly a phenomenal product, it is 5.5mm thick and weighs only 580g, a lot thinner and lighter than a Macbook Air, also thinner than most foldable phones out there. We got the green color, it is very refreshing, just like the Mate 60 Pro.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103401.962.jpg?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103401.962.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-593367" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103401.962.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103401.962-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103401.962-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103401.962-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103401.962-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103401.962-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103401.962-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103401.962-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>Over the top, It’s a 3:2, 94% screen-to-body ratio. Visually, this 2.8K 1000 nits peak brightness OLED panel has excellent visuals and viewing angles, the brightness and 144Hz refresh rate are also really outstanding features. We normally hold the tablet like this, facing yourself, as a screen to see some pictures or watch videos.</p>

<p>But once you put it down on the table for writing and drawing, the difference it makes is so obvious, that you will immediately know how good the viewing angle is. This Matepad Pro has 262PPi and also supports P3 wide color gamut, so it has surpassed the iPad Pro when we talk about screen quality.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103414.850.jpg?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103414.850.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-593368" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103414.850.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103414.850-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103414.850-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103414.850-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103414.850-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103414.850-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103414.850-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103414.850-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>The Anti-glare performance on this tablet is also the best, as we put the tablet and some other products together side by side, when the light shines on them, you can clearly see the screen has very little reflection. Therefore, if you need to use the tablet outdoors, this will be very helpful. A side note to this is that there should be a lot of work done to a good screen, which will naturally make you want to work on it a lot.</p>

<p>Now the bezels on each side are equal and very very narrow, if you have watched a lot of tablet reviews, you would appreciate such an astonishing thin bezel. Compared to the iPad mini we have here, there is just a clear gap between them. This tablet has also done an excellent job in terms of eliminating the unintended touch at the edges, when you hold the tablet in one hand while operating on it with another hand, no problem at all.</p>

<h2><strong>Productivity</strong></h2>

<p>When we talk about utilizing a tablet for work, many people would doubt it, because it might just end up like another iPad resting in the corner of the room. But, not for this tablet! There is a really good keyboard that goes perfectly with it, this keyboard connects to the tablet by Bluetooth and has its own battery inside, which means you can just pull it out, put it anywhere, and then use it as a real wireless keyboard. And there is no contact pin on it, so even if it’s connected to the tablet, it is still a wireless keyboard, how innovative that is! The keyboard comes with four rubber feet, so wherever it is placed, it will not slip away, this is a very thoughtful design.</p>

<p>The other feature that is worth talking about is the massive touchpad here, it is not only big, the feedback is also excellent. Compared to some lousy touchpads out there, or even some on the Windows laptop, the tactile feedback is very satisfying, and you can click anywhere, including the two upper corners. Well for the tracking, I would say they are better than most, but still have a very slight lag or traveling, but if you can get used to it, then there shouldn’t be any problem at all.</p>

<p>Some of the keys are also customized, such as the Enter key can be the shutter button in the camera app. The Home button is taken place by the HarmonyOS button, which can take you back to the home screen. Also, you can press this key to go to the file transfer app, and then press this key to do audio-to-text input. If you have a Huawei phone, put it on the touchpad, and then they will be automatically connected to fulfill a lot of tasks, like picking and dragging files between each other, this is the power of the eco-system.</p>

<p>The other half of the keyboard is for protective use and serves as a stand. It is also very thin and light, and can be attached to the tablet pretty snug and fit. If you want to have a comfortable viewing angle, then tilt it back to 45 degrees like this is nice and easy. But if you are tall or sitting on a high chair, or you need to be in the creator mode, then a bigger force is needed to push it further. And once it’s in position, the resistance within the hinge is strong enough to hold it very stable. I think it is another very thoughtful design.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>App Support</strong></h2>

<p>The other things that stop people from using a tablet as a workstation is the app support because normally they are poorly optimized for smaller screens. But since this tablet has a 13.2-inch screen, just like a portable laptop, it can fulfill all those tasks as well. HUAWEI has put a lot of effort into the HarmonyOS to seamlessly bring the software experience onto it.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103443.570.jpg?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103443.570.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-593383" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103443.570.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103443.570-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103443.570-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103443.570-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103443.570-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103443.570-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103443.570-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/matepad-final.mp4_20231225_103443.570-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>At this point, you can pair it up with a mouse via Bluetooth, to have a better laptop-like UI and UX. Take this WPS as an example, the buttons lineup is no different from the ones on the laptop, whereas it is smaller and more spread out on a normal tablet, this makes working on docs and files a lot more intuitive. And there are also some other apps that have PC-like versions, such as the CAJviewer. But please note that there are apps that only work in certain areas, so maybe you will have different ones.</p>

<p>So this tablet is meant to be carried around with you, when you have some files on the phone or on this tablet, you can use the smart-connect on this screen to work seamlessly with each other. This can help you a lot with file transfer.</p>

<p>Unlike some note apps that can only do simple input, HUAWEI has created this feature Note app for many purposes. If you do a lot of note-taking or drawing, you know that you need a good pen, this M-Pencil with Nearlink tech built-in goes really well with the tablet. It supports 10000 levels of pressure sensitivity, much better than the last gen. Then if you want to write, you can utilize the white tip, it has a certain dampening to it, making writing more like it is on a real paper.</p>

<p>Whereas the transparent tip is smoother and you can see every move better, so it’s suitable for drawing. Other features like auto-adjusting handwriting and drawing are such life-saving functions, that you will love it! Now when you finish the note, you can save it in different formats, so the experience is much better than the iPad already.</p>

<p>The other use scenario is to handwrite info in the search column if you don’t have the keyboard at the side, but the writing area is limited to around the column area first, then once the handwriting mode is activated, the whole screen becomes a writing area, and I found that my writing is 100% recognizable, which is awesome!&nbsp;</p>

<p>This pencil has no port for charging, the only way to juice it up is to charge it when it’s attached to this tablet. But in order to save the tablet’s battery, when the pencil has a battery level above 80%, it just won’t charge, but you can also change it in the settings. </p>

<h2><strong>Other Features</strong></h2>

<p>We haven’t talked much about the hardware and specs here, simply because you have a very clear image of how capable it is through those features we mentioned, and that is the amazing part of a top-tier product, you never need to worry about anything, like ever!</p>

<p>But I might as well list them here beforehand. Also, you can leave your comment down below to let us know what you are concerned about, we will do our best to answer them.</p>

<p><strong>Conclusion</strong></p>

<p>It has been so long since we saw such a powerful tablet/laptop, this is a 13.2-inch workstation that has optimized functions and apps for all kinds of use. There are certain restrictions on the app diversity for sure, but HUAWEI has put tons of effort into the basics, making the keyboard, the pencil, the note app, etc, a lot better than most. If you have a HUAWEI phone, you will find this Matepad Pro a great companion for your work and daily life. </p>

<p>It&#8217;s not able to say with complete certainty that the chip inside is the Kirin 9000s… But based on our review and testing results, it probably is. Now the tablet is available worldwide. You can check this versatile HUAWEI tablet on their <a href="https://consumer.huawei.com/en/tablets/matepad-pro-13-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">official store</a>. You may find more innovative details and features on this newest large tablet.</p>

<p>While some of the details related to the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tablet">tablet</a> have already been revealed through the official teasers and leaks, the device has now passed through a certification process in China, revealing its key specifications.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-471511 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-11-1.jpeg?x10805" alt="Huawei MatePad Pro 11" width="690" height="1227" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-11-1.jpeg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-11-1-169x300.jpeg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-11-1-576x1024.jpeg 576w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-11-1-236x420.jpeg 236w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>The Huawei MatePad Pro 11-inch has been spotted as it passed through the TAF certification, which reveals that the tablet carrying model number GOT-AL09 will be equipped with an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oled">OLED display</a> that has a punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera. This is an upgrade considering that the previous model featured an LCD panel.</p>
<p>It has also been revealed that the device will feature a triple-camera setup on the back, and the tablet will be running the latest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos">HarmonyOS 3.0</a> operating system, which is developed in-house by Huawei for its own devices.</p>
<p>As for the connectivity, there&#8217;s support for Wi-Fi and 4G LTE, and similar to other Huawei devices, there&#8217;s no <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G support</a> because of the sanctions imposed by the United States. It is powered by an 8,200mAh battery, but the charging speed is not yet known.</p>
<p>The teaser image fo the upcoming Huawei MatePad Pro 11-inch shared by the company a few days ago, indicates that the tablet will have a new design featuring a circular camera cutout on the back, similar to the design of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-mate-40">Mate 40 series</a> smartphones.</p>

<p>We were expecting more information and leaks regarding the tablet, and our expectations have been fulfilled. Yesterday, a leaker <a href="https://twitter.com/RODENT950/status/1549442035442229249" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweeted</a> a reported render of the Huawei MatePad 11 Pro.</p>

<p>As seen clearly in the leaked image above, the upcoming tablet incorporates the Mate series&#8217; distinctive star ring lens design. Huawei has continued to create a lineup that offers recognizability.</p>
<p>Additionally, the new tablet is expected to include accessories such as a smart stylus and a smart keyboard aimed at increasing user productivity. The tablet is likely to be integrated with the HarmonyOS 3 as both of them will be launched together. It can also benefit from the ecosystem that will be created via Harmony OS 3.</p>
<p>In related news, the Huawei MatePad Pro (2022) 12.6-inch model was recently discovered on the 3C certification website. The tablet will enable 40W fast charging, as well as 18W and 10W reverse wired charging, it was revealed.</p>
<p>More information on the 11-inch and 12.6-inch Huawei tablets are anticipated soon, so stay tuned to Gizmochina.</p>

<p>Now, ahead of the launch, a render of the upcoming tablet has leaked online, revealing that the device will come with ultra-narrow bezels. But do keep in mind that the authenticity of the leak has not been confirmed.</p>

<p>Another report coming from China claims that the Huawei MatePad Pro 2 comes in two variants based on the processor &#8212; <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/kirin-9000">HiSilicon Kirin 9000</a> and HiSilicon Kirin 9000E. The former will be Wi-Fi only version while the latter will support 5G connectivity.</p>
<p>Previous reports indicate that the device will be available in two sizes – 12.2-inch or 12.6-inch. For those unaware, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-matepad-pro/">Huawei MatePad Pro</a> sports a smaller 10.8-inch screen. Unfortunately, there&#8217;s not much data available about the type of display but its predecessor has an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/LCD/">LCD</a> panel and therefore, the new model could also feature the same but with a higher refresh rate, which the older tablet lacks. Also, there&#8217;s a possibility of an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/OLED/">OLED</a> display either.</p>
<p>Along with the MatePad Pro 2, the Chinese tech giant is also set to launch a few more devices, including the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/05/27/huawei-watch-3-harmonyos/">Huawei Watch 3</a> which will also come running the latest HarmonyOS.</p>

<p>The upcoming launch conference will have the Chinese tech giant unveil new electronic gadgets like TVs, earphones, and smart watches as well. While the company has yet to officially announce the products that will be released on the launch event, we have recently covered a few devices that we expect to be announced on this date. This includes the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/05/12/new-huawei-childrens-watch-4x-leak-first-look/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">new variant of the Huawei Children&#8217;s Watch 4X</a>, which was leaked recently, along with the Huawei Body Fat Scale 3 Pro.</p>
<p>Furthermore, the brand is also set to launch new TVs, which will be a part of the company&#8217;s SE series of smart TVs. Other expected products that might be launching later this month include a semi in ear headphones, dubbed the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-freebuds-4/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">FreeBuds 4</a>, along with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-watch-3/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei Watch3</a> series of smartwatches as well. We had previously reported on the company also gearing up to launch a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/05/01/huawei-matepad-pro-2-watch-3-pro-matebook-16-launch-date-leak/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">new high end 16 inch MateBook notebook</a>, while the company just shared a teaser on its official Weibo account for new Mate series product that could also be the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/05/01/huawei-matepad-pro-2-watch-3-pro-matebook-16-launch-date-leak/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">new MatePad tab</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-389435 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/0020sXlVly1gqgk1nrrmrj61hb0u04qu02.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei" width="690" height="388" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/0020sXlVly1gqgk1nrrmrj61hb0u04qu02.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/0020sXlVly1gqgk1nrrmrj61hb0u04qu02-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>Unfortunately, there is not a lot of news to go on as of right now and we will have to wait for any teaser from Huawei that might arrive in the coming few days. So stay tuned for more, as we will be covering the event and providing any notable updates once additional information is available regarding the upcoming conference.</p>

Despite facing major issues, the Chinese giant continues to advance its journey at its own pace, regularly launching new products.</p>
<p>Continuing the trend, Huawei is expected to launch its flagship <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-p50">P50 series smartphones</a> early next year, as per the schedule. Now, a new report claims that along with the P50 series smartphones, the company will also launch a new tablet.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-359649 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Huawei-HarmonyOS-Tablet.png?x10805" alt="Huawei HarmonyOS-powered Tablet Leak" width="592" height="381" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Huawei-HarmonyOS-Tablet.png 592w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Huawei-HarmonyOS-Tablet-300x193.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 592px) 100vw, 592px" /></p>
<p>The highlight of the tablet is that it will be running the PadOS HongMeng operating system, which as the name indicates, has been designed especially for tablet devices. For those who are unaware, HongMeng is the Chinese name for Huawei&#8217;s own <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos">HarmonyOS</a>.</p>
<p>The tablet in question is expected to come with a 12.9-inch <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oled">OLED display</a>, offering a 120Hz refresh rate and ultra-narrow bezels surrounding the screen. The body of the device, made up of metal, will be thin and light.</p>

<p>As for the processor, the device could come powered by the company&#8217;s own <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/kirin-9000">Kirin 9000 chipset</a> &#8212; the same chipset that powers the Huawei Mate 40 lineup. The report mentions that the product will belong to the company&#8217;s MatePad lineup.</p>
<p>Ever since the United States cut-off Huawei&#8217;s access to Google&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android">Android</a> operating system, the company boosted the development of its own operating system, which the company unveiled as HarmonyOS last year. Recently, it released HarmonyOS 2.0, which is expected to power upcoming smartphones, tablets, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/wearable">wearable devices</a> from the Chinese giant.</p>

Now, a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei</a> design patent has been spotted online for an 8 inch MatePad with dual speakers, which is possible to capitalize in the unexpectedly well performing market.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-320533 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/huawei-tablet-1024x761.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei" width="1024" height="761" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/huawei-tablet-1024x761.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/huawei-tablet-1024x761-300x223.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/huawei-tablet-1024x761-768x571.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/huawei-tablet-1024x761-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/huawei-tablet-1024x761-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/huawei-tablet-1024x761-485x360.jpg 485w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/huawei-tablet-1024x761-696x517.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/huawei-tablet-1024x761-565x420.jpg 565w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>Huawei had filed a new design patent with the CNIPA back in 2019. This was finally published earlier this month and reveal 15 colored renders of the yet to be announced tablet. Looking at the images, the device may be the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/matepad-t/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei MatePad T</a>, which is an affordable tablet under the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-matepad-pro-5g/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">5G tablet the Chinese tech giant had launched previously</a>. Although this is still unconfirmed.</p>

<p>However, the MatePad T was spotted <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/11/huawei-matepad-t-press-render-leaks-gets-wi-fi-certification-too/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">receiving a WiFi certification</a> in early April 2020. This certification revealed that 6 models are in the making, with the differences likely being in the memory and networking versions. In other words, WiFi only models, 4G LTE support and even 5G enabled MatePad T models being launched. Furthermore, the tablet is expected to run <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-10/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Android 10</a> out of the box with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/emui-10/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">EMUI 10</a> custom skin, and again without the official Google services support.</p>

<p>Unfortunately, finer details like internal specifications are currently unknown regarding the MatePad tab. Although, recently launched <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/kirin-810/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Kirin 810</a> or <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/kirin-820/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">820</a> SoC might be planned for the device. The tablet is meant to be a budget option so it might go for the former, with a single camera on the rear, and front, according to the design patent. A notable inclusion is the dual speaker system, with one speaker grill at the bottom, and one on the top. More information or official teasers from the company should arrive soon, so stay tuned.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-319534 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite-featured.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei MatePad vs Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite featured" width="1387" height="841" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite-featured.jpg 1387w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite-featured-300x182.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite-featured-768x466.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite-featured-1024x621.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite-featured-696x422.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite-featured-1068x648.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite-featured-693x420.jpg 693w" sizes="(max-width: 1387px) 100vw, 1387px" /></p>
<p>Huawei isn&#8217;t the only manufacturer that has announced a lite version of its flagship tablet. About a fortnight ago, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> announced the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite which is a cheaper version of its flagship tablet &#8211; the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-tab-s6/">Galaxy Tab S6</a>.</p>
<p>This post will compare the two new tablets which actually have more similarities than differences.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Design</strong></p>
<p>Samsung and Huawei have gone with slightly different designs but the same materials. So you get a glass-covered display, an aluminum frame, and an aluminum back on both devices.</p>
<p>The two tablets have moderately-sized bezels, though not the slimmest we have seen. On the back, Huawei has adopted a pill-shaped camera housing for the MatePad while Samsung settled for a square-camera housing.</p>
<p>With respect to dimensions, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and Huawei MatePad are not too far apart. Samsung&#8217;s tablet measures 244.5 x 154.3 x 7 mm while the MatePad measures 245.2 x 155 x 7.4 mm. The Galaxy Tab S6 is slightly smaller and thinner but surprisingly weighs more at 467 grams compared to the MatePad that weighs 450 grams.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Display</strong></p>
<p>The two tablets both have 10.4-inch displays with the same 1200 x 2000 resolution. Both are also LCD panels, so there isn&#8217;t a difference in quality.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Performance</strong></p>
<p>The Huawei MatePad is powered by a Kirin 810 processor while the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is powered by the Exynos 9611 processor. When it comes to performance, the Kirin 810 is the superior chipset. It has <strong>2x Cortex-A76</strong> cores and <strong>6x Cortex-A55</strong> cores compared to the Exynos 9611 that has <strong>4x Cortex-A73</strong> cores and <strong>4x Cortex-A53</strong> cores.</p>
<p>Based on the above, apps and games should launch and load faster on the MatePad. You should also have a better multi-tasking experience on Huawei&#8217;s tablet.</p>
<p>The MatePad is available in 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variants with 64GB and 128GB of storage respectively. Samsung&#8217;s own tablet is available in a single 4GB RAM variant but you can choose between 64GB or 128GB of storage. The two tablets support storage expansion. Huawei&#8217;s tablet will allow you to add up to an extra 512GB while the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite doubles it to 1TB (US Site says 512GB).</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Cameras</strong></p>
<p>Another area where the two tablets are identical is the camera, the rear camera to be specific. Both have an 8MP camera but Huawei adds an LED flash to its setup which Samsung skips.</p>
<p>For selfies and video calls, Huawei goes with an 8MP sensor again but Samsung settles for a 5MP camera.</p>
<p>There is no camera comparison available yet, so we can&#8217;t say which tablet takes better pictures.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-319532 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei MatePad vs Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite" width="1288" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite.jpg 1288w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite-300x140.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite-768x358.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite-1024x477.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite-696x324.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite-1068x498.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S6-Lite-902x420.jpg 902w" sizes="(max-width: 1288px) 100vw, 1288px" /></p>
<p><strong>Battery and Fast Charging</strong></p>
<p>Huawei ships the MatePad with a 7250mAh battery capacity with support for 18W fast charging (fully charged in 2.8 hours) and boasts it will provide up to 12 hours of video playback.</p>
<p>The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has a smaller 7040mAh battery with support for 15W fast charging and claims it will last up to 13 hours on a single charge for video playback.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Other features</strong></p>
<p>Both tablets have an active stylus &#8211; M-Pencil for the MatePad and S-Pen for the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. However, Huawei doesn&#8217;t include the stylus in the box, so you have to buy that separately.</p>
<p>Another area where Samsung&#8217;s tablet wins is the addition of an audio jack. We are quite surprised why Huawei decided to skip it on a mid-range tablet. Huawei compensates for the lack of an audio jack by adding four speakers (Tuned by Harman Kardon) as against the two speakers (Tuned by AKG) on the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. The MatePad also ships with a Type-C to 3.5mm audio cable in the box.</p>
<p>Both tablets come in LTE and Wi-Fi-only variants. However, Samsung opts for e-SIM connectivity for its own LTE version according to the official UK page.</p>
<p>The two tablets also ship with Android 10 out of the box with EMUI 10.1 on the MatePad and One UI 2 on the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Price</strong></p>
<p>Huawei&#8217;s MatePad sells for ¥1899 (~$269) for the 4+64GB Wi-Fi-only version compared to the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite&#8217;s $350/£349 price for the same configuration. However, if you throw in the price of the M-Pencil stylus which is ¥499 (~$70), the price tag almost levels up.</p>
<p>The 6+128GB Wi-Fi-only MatePad is ¥2199 (~$311) while the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite with the same configuration is $420.</p>
<p>If you want the LTE version of the MatePad with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage, the price is ¥2499 (~$353). Samsung is selling the 64GB LTE version for £399 in the UK along with a free Book Cover (worth £59.99) for those who pre-order (Wi-Fi versions are eligible too). There is no info on the price of the 128GB version of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Conclusion</strong></p>
<p>Both tablets are aimed at students as an affordable version of their more-powerful siblings which are targeted at professionals. However, they each have their strengths and weaknesses.</p>
<p>While the MatePad is definitely the better tablet in terms of performance and even price, its lack of Google Apps will not make it the first choice for several buyers outside China.</p>
<p>The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has the advantage with support for Google Apps and Services, though it comes with an average chipset. It also has the S Pen included, and if you were to pre-order, you&#8217;d get a free case too.</p>
<p>If you do not mind the weak processor of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, it is the better buy. However, if you do not need the S Pen, the Galaxy Tab S5e which now sells for less ($330 on Best Buy) is a better alternative.</p>
<p>The Galaxy Tab S5e has a more powerful chipset, an OLED screen, better cameras, quad speakers, a fingerprint scanner, and faster charging (18W). It is also pretty thin at just 5.5mm but lacks an audio jack.</p>

He Gang, President of Huawei&#8217;s Consumer Business Product Line also revealed that the company has become the leading tablet brand in China.</p>
<p>According to the reports, Huawei remained the leading tablet company in terms of shipments in its home market China for the third and fourth quarter of 2019. The company has also reportedly achieved higher breakthrough in 2020 and now accounts for nearly half of the Chinese <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tablet">tablet</a> market.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-256564 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-logo-korea.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Logo" width="1280" height="853" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-logo-korea.jpg 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-logo-korea-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-logo-korea-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-logo-korea-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-logo-korea-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-logo-korea-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-logo-korea-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></p>
<p>The sale numbers seem to align with what the company&#8217;s founder and CEO Ren Zhegfei said in a recent interview. He said that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has made shipments and production difficult, but the company has also been seeing an increase in demand for tablets, computers and more.</p>
<p>In a recently released financial report for Q1 2020, Huawei has <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/22/huawei-smartphones-sold-over-450000-units-in-china-in-march-the-p40-series-arrives-with-hms-ceo/">managed to sell more than 450,000 units</a> of smartphones in the Chinese market alone in March 2020. However, Ren Zhegfei has acknowledged that while the domestic market is showing growth, the international market is facing a decline.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>EDITOR&#8217;S PICK: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/22/huawei-sees-low-revenue-growth-in-first-quarter-coronavirus-and-us-pressures-hit-hard/">Huawei sees low Revenue Growth in first quarter, Coronavirus and US Sanctions hit hard</a></strong></h6>
<p>This is likely because of the effective ban on Huawei by the United States which bars the company from using Google&#8217;s apps and services on its devices. Thus, the new devices from Huawei comes packed with Huawei Mobile Services (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/hms">HMS</a>).</p>

<p>The base model with 4GB RAM costs 1,899 yuan (~$268) while the 6GB RAM model is priced at 2,199 yuan (~$311) and LTE variant of the same going for 2,499 yuan (~$352). It is now up for pre-orders and will be available for purchase from 26th April.</p>

Just as Samsung is planning to release <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-tab-s6-lite">a lite version of its Galaxy Tab S6</a>, Huawei is also planning to launch a less powerful version of its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-matepad-pro/">MatePad Pro</a> tablet. A poster of the Huawei tablet which is simply called the “Huawei MatePad” has surfaced on the web and it confirms some of the already leaked specs.</p>
<p>The image of the poster appears to have been taken in front of a store and it shows the Huawei MatePad will come in two color variants &#8211; white and gray. The tablet has bezels that are significantly slimmer than those of several other tablets. However, it skips the punch-hole display of the MatePad Pro. The Huawei MatePad is also shown to have stylus-support.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-316167" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei MatePad" width="690" height="920" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Huawei-MatePad-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>According to the image, the MatePad has a 2K display, a Kirin 810 processor, and exclusive educational features, hinting at Huawei&#8217;s target demographic for the new tablet being students.</p>
<p>Previous reports said the tablet will have a 10.4-inch display and will come in WiFi and 4G models with up to 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It will also come with a 7250mAh battery with a USB Type-C port for charging. Other features are 8MP rear and front cameras, Bluetooth 5.1, and an alleged “Lite version” of EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10.</p>

The Chinese giant has filed trademark applications for “Huawei MatePad” at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).</p>
<p>Does this mean it plans to retire the MediaPad line? Probably not. We believe the MatePad will be its line of flagship tablets that will come with the same chipset as the one found in its flagship phone for the year.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-236031" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Huawei-MatePad-trademark.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei-MatePad trademark" width="768" height="665" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Huawei-MatePad-trademark.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Huawei-MatePad-trademark-300x260.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></p>
<p>Last year&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mediapad-m5-pro-10-8/">MediaPad M5 Pro (10-inches)</a> which is the top of the M5-series is powered by the Kirin 960 chipset, the same processor inside the 2016 <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-9-2/">Huawei Mate 9</a> and 2017&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-p10/">Huawei P10</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-p10-plus/">P10 Plus</a>. <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> too did something similar with its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/galaxy-tab-s4-tab-pro-sm-t835/">Galaxy Tab S4 10.5</a> which it released last year. Instead of the flagship Snapdragon 845 or Exynos 9810 processor, it is powered by the Snapdragon 835 from 2017. Compare that to <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a>&#8216;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-ipad-pro-11-2018-wi-fi/">2018 iPad Pro</a> models which even have a more powerful processor than the one in its phones.</p>
<p>So we believe the Huawei MatePad will come with the latest specs that will see it as a worthy competitor to other flagship tablets while the MediaPad series will target the mid-range and entry-level categories.</p>

<p>There is no info on when we will see the first MatePad-branded tablet but seeing as the MediaPad M5 Pro was announced back in April, a successor should already be in development.</p>
