<p>On July 25, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi</a> issued its weekly update via the official Xiaomi Community in China, outlining recent progress on software issues within its HyperOS system. The update addresses both resolved and ongoing problems affecting user experience, particularly with the Gallery app and system interface.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-update-1024x683.webp?x10805" alt="Should you upgrade to HyperOS" class="wp-image-621376" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-update-1024x683.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-update-300x200.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-update-768x512.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-update-696x464.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-update-1068x712.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-update-630x420.webp 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-update.webp 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<h3>Resolved Issues</h3>

<p>Two key bugs have now been addressed:</p>

<ul><li>Smart beautification features in the Gallery app were previously behaving abnormally in certain scenarios.</li><li>In some cases, users were unable to edit photos at all. This editing failure has also been resolved in the latest build.</li></ul>

<h3>Issues Still Under Investigation</h3>

<p>Xiaomi is still working to fix ten identified bugs:</p>

<ol><li>Delayed appearance of the status bar and gesture indicators after exiting apps to the desktop.</li><li>Unresponsive image cropping functionality in the Gallery app.</li><li>Recent tasks thumbnails not matching actual app states.</li><li>Floating ball disappearing during use.</li><li>Incompatibility between third-party themes and the control center.</li><li>Display issues when switching screen resolutions.</li><li>Missing focus notifications in the beta version of the Travel Assistant.</li><li>Gesture-based navigation (swipe up to return) failing in some cases.</li></ol>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="564" height="908" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-28-024506.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-698747" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-28-024506.png 564w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-28-024506-186x300.png 186w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-28-024506-261x420.png 261w" sizes="(max-width: 564px) 100vw, 564px" /></figure></div>

<p>Xiaomi has encouraged users to keep their devices updated and to monitor further developments through the Xiaomi Community at <a href="https://www.xiaomi.cn/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">xiaomi.cn</a>.</p>

<p>In other news, Xiaomi has officially added <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/27/xiaomi-drops-support-for-these-phones-ahead-of-hyperos-3-rollout/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">several devices to its end-of-life list</a> ahead of the HyperOS 3 rollout, ending support for models like the Xiaomi 11T series, Redmi 11 Prime 4G, Redmi A1 series, POCO M5, and POCO C50. <p>There’s no doubt that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/hyperos-2-0/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HyperOS 2.0</a> packs plenty of customization options to fine-tune the system to your liking. But one of its more practical additions is a new battery-saving feature that’s rolling out to compatible<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Xiaomi</a> phones—and it might be worth a look.</p>

<p>The feature in question is called the “battery firmware update,” and it could help extend the life of your Xiaomi, Redmi, or Poco smartphone.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>What is the Xiaomi Battery Firmware Update?</strong></h2>

<p>As reported by <em>XiaomiTime</em>, the battery firmware update is a tool within HyperOS 2.0 that enhances power management. It works in the background to improve battery longevity, optimize charging algorithms, and regulate power consumption.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/HyperOS-2-Battery-firmware-update-1.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-673439" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/HyperOS-2-Battery-firmware-update-1.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/HyperOS-2-Battery-firmware-update-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/HyperOS-2-Battery-firmware-update-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/HyperOS-2-Battery-firmware-update-1-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/HyperOS-2-Battery-firmware-update-1-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>Similar to a standard system update, this firmware upgrade ensures the battery stays healthy by addressing efficiency issues and improving battery-level reporting. This means users get more accurate insights into which apps drain the most power, allowing them to manage usage more effectively.</p>

<h3><strong>How to Access</strong></h3>

<p>If you’re using a Xiaomi device running HyperOS 2.0, here’s how you can check for battery firmware updates:</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-battery-firmware-update.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-673437" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-battery-firmware-update.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-battery-firmware-update-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-battery-firmware-update-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-battery-firmware-update-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-battery-firmware-update-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<ol><li>Open the <strong>Settings</strong> app.</li><li>Navigate to the <strong>Battery</strong> section.</li><li>Tap on <strong>Additional Features</strong> &gt; <strong>Firmware Updates</strong>.</li><li>Check for the latest battery firmware update and install it if available.</li></ol>

<p>Before installing the update, make sure your Security app is up-to-date, and your phone has enough charge to prevent interruptions during the process.</p>

<h3><strong>Why This Feature Matters</strong></h3>

<p>Battery health has always been a concern for smartphone users, and Xiaomi’s approach with HyperOS 2.0 adds another layer of optimization. By keeping the battery firmware updated, users can maintain better battery efficiency and prolong their device’s lifespan.</p>

<p>While this feature is not widely known yet, it’s a useful addition that could make a noticeable difference in long-term battery performance. If you haven’t checked for a battery firmware update yet, it might be worth taking a look.</p>

While the Xiaomi 15 was just announced in China with HyperOS 2.0, the brand&#8217;s latest flagship smartphone is only expected to launch in <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/23/flagship-smartphones-india-launch-oneplus-13-more/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">India around March 2025</a>. So, the POCO X7 Pro might be dropping in the country ahead of the Xiaomi 15. To recall, the POCO X6 Pro was announced in India back in January 2024, so the POCO X7 Pro would likely launch in a similar timeline.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="643" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Redmi-Note-14-Pro-Plus-telephoto-camera--1024x643.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-651916" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Redmi-Note-14-Pro-Plus-telephoto-camera--1024x643.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Redmi-Note-14-Pro-Plus-telephoto-camera--300x188.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Redmi-Note-14-Pro-Plus-telephoto-camera--768x483.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Redmi-Note-14-Pro-Plus-telephoto-camera--696x437.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Redmi-Note-14-Pro-Plus-telephoto-camera--1068x671.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Redmi-Note-14-Pro-Plus-telephoto-camera--668x420.jpg 668w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Redmi-Note-14-Pro-Plus-telephoto-camera-.jpg 1469w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Redmi Note 14 Pro+</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Based on what we know so far, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/09/16/exclusive-redmi-note-14-pro-5g-poco-x7-officially-confirmed-coming-soon/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">POCO X7 is possibly a renamed Redmi Note 14 Pro</a>. In other words, the POCO X7 Pro might be a rebranded Redmi Note 14 Pro+ model. Xiaomi recently confirmed the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/11/05/xiaomi-india-redmi-a4-note-14-series-launch/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">December launch timeline for the Redmi Note 14 series</a>. So it won&#8217;t be surprising if the POCO X7 and POCO X7 Pro arrive a month later in the Indian market. Xiaomi has launched multiple variants of the same phone with slight differences from its various sub-brands in the past.</p>

<p>If the POCO X7 Pro is a rebranded Note 14 Pro+, then we can expect a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate on the front. Meanwhile, the rear may offer a 50MP (Main) + 50MP (Telephoto) + 8MP (Ultrawide). Similar to the Note 14 Pro+, the POCO X7 Pro may be equipped with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC as well. A massive 6,200mAh battery pack could power this model, which supports 90W wired fast charging. </p>

<p>Ahead of the launch, internal builds of HyperOS 2.0 have been spotted for the company&#8217;s upcoming flagship <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/01/xiaomi-15-series-could-equip-tcls-latest-and-best-display-panel/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro</a> smartphones. <h2><strong>These are the first devices that will get HyperOS 2.0 update</strong></h2>

<p>Beyond the flagship duo, internal testing of HyperOS 2.0 based on Android 15 has started for over a dozen other Xiaomi and Redmi devices. These are expected to be the first in line for the update within China. The list includes:</p>

<ul><li>Xiaomi 14: OS2.0.0.24.VNCCNXM</li><li>Xiaomi 14 Pro: OS2.0.0.22.VNBCNXM</li><li>Xiaomi 14 Ultra: OS2.0.0.16.VNACNXM</li><li>Xiaomi 13 Ultra: OS2.0.0.1.VMACNXM</li><li>Xiaomi MIX Fold 4:OS2.0.0.1.VNVCNXM</li><li>Xiaomi MIX Flip: OS2.0.0.2.VNICNXM</li><li>Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro: OS2.0.0.24.VNXCNXM</li><li>Xiaomi Civi 2: OS2.0.0.1.VLLCNXM</li><li>Redmi K70: OS2.0.0.1.VNKCNXM</li><li>Redmi K70 Pro: OS2.0.0.1.VNMCNXM</li><li>Redmi K70 Ultra: OS2.0.0.14.VNNCNXM</li><li>Redmi K60 Ultra: OS2.0.0.22.VMLCNXM</li><li>Redmi K70E: OS2.0.0.1.VNLCNXM</li><li>Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G: OS2.0.0.1.VNRCNXM</li><li>Redmi Note 13R: OS2.0.0.1.VNUCNXM</li></ul>

<p>However, global users might have to wait a bit longer. According to the report, HyperOS might launch globally in December, with a wider rollout potentially happening in January 2025.</p>

<p>Xiaomi has been pushing its HyperOS platform as a cornerstone of its connected ecosystem, encompassing smartphones, tablets, and smart home devices. HyperOS 2.0 is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/08/11/xiaomi-hyperos-2-0-what-to-expect/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">expected</a> to bring a range of improvements, including a revamped interface, enhanced performance optimizations, and deeper integration with Xiaomi&#8217;s AI features.&nbsp;</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi </a>has released the new HyperOS Enhanced Beta and there are signs that the current beta is an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/08/22/xiaomi-hyperos-2-0-under-development-seen-mi-code/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">early look at HyperOS 2.0</a>. This software update is called HyperOS Enhanced Beta and contains files that hint at the next major release. One of the files in the update is called “MiLinkOS2CN.apk” and the “OS2” part of the name indicates that it is related to HyperOS 2.0. This suggests that we are extremely close to HyperOS 2.0.</p>

<h2>HyperOS Enhanced Beta is actually a preview of HyperOS 2</h2>

<p>HyperOS 2.0 is expected to be announced in October, but this beta seems to be a preview of the upcoming HyperOS 2. It looks like Xiaomi is using this update to test some new features that will be included in the final release. Many users believe that this beta is not just a minor update, but a preview of the next major release of Xiaomi&#8217;s software. This means that those who use the Enhanced Beta get an early look at the new changes before anyone else.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="574" height="192" data-id="651641" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-Enhanced-beta-3.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-651641" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-Enhanced-beta-3.png 574w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-Enhanced-beta-3-300x100.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 574px) 100vw, 574px" /></figure>
</figure>

<p>You must be seeing the photos above. These photos show the applications in the system part of HyperOS Enhanced Beta. The “OS2” in the package names of the applications points to HyperOS 2.0, indicating that a new HyperOS version is coming in the near future.</p>

<p>HyperOS is being seen as a big step forward from Xiaomi&#8217;s older software, MIUI. MIUI has been the user interface on Xiaomi devices for many years, but now it looks like Xiaomi is ready to introduce something more advanced. HyperOS is expected to be more polished, with better performance and new features that work more smoothly across different Xiaomi devices. Xiaomi wants to create an ecosystem where all its products, like smartphones, tablets, and other smart devices, work well together. HyperOS 2.0 could be the key to making this happen.</p>

<p>While this beta release is already exciting for some users, it is a preview and not the full release of HyperOS 2.0. More features and improvements are expected when HyperOS 2 is officially released in October. But the current beta is already raising expectations. People are excited about the new optimizations and improvements that could come with the final release. This could mean better speed, smoother user experience, and new tools to make Xiaomi devices more enjoyable to use.</p>

<p>Currently, the HyperOS Enhanced Beta is only available for Xiaomi 14. However, Xiaomi has announced that the new beta will soon be available for more devices. This includes the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4” tablet and the Redmi K60 Ultra. Once the beta is available for these devices, more users will be able to test the new version and experience the new features for themselves.</p>

Only select models from Xiaomi and its sub-brands, Redmi and Poco, will receive the highly anticipated HyperOS 2.0 upgrade.</p>

<p>The Chinese brand hasn’t officially announced anything about HyperOS 2.0. <h2>What To Expect from HyperOS 2.0?</h2>

<p>Xiaomi has not revealed the changes we’ll see in HyperOS 2.0, but thanks to leaks, we already have some details. The new HyperOS version might allow users to detect hidden cameras using WLAN signals. If this is true, Xiaomi devices might have an edge in user privacy and personal safety over their competitors.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-1024x683.png?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-1024x683.png?x10805" alt="HyperOS 2.0 camera detection" class="wp-image-644529" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>Some leaked screenshots have revealed that HyperOS 2.0 might get a redesigned Settings homepage. It could offer a card-like experience instead of the thin line-separated segments. Since Xiaomi has kept the same design for the Settings app for nearly a decade, this change would be much appreciated by Xiaomi fans.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-1024x683.png?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-1024x683.png?x10805" alt="HyperOS 2.0 Settings" class="wp-image-644531" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>The new Settings homepage in leaked images looks modern. It will not just provide better aesthetics but also ensure smoother navigation and fluency.</p>

<p>HyperOS 2.0 might allow up to 16GB of virtual memory, with the default being 6GB. Of course, not all Xiaomi devices can have 16GB of virtual RAM because of limited hardware. So, it’s likely coming to high-end phones with ample storage.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-1024x683.png?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-1024x683.png?x10805" alt="HyperOS 2.0 Memory Expansion" class="wp-image-644532" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>Xiaomi is also said to be working on allowing users to turn off the lock screen editor in HyperOS 2.0. For those uninitiated, the screen editor is activated when you long-press a blank space on the lock screen. Those who don’t like it will probably be able to switch it off via the Settings app in HyperOS 2.0.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-1024x683.png?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-1024x683.png?x10805" alt="HyperOS 2.0 Lock Screen Editing" class="wp-image-644530" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>Besides these changes, the upcoming HyperOS 2.0 is also expected to have smoother animations, better performance, and privacy. You can also expect to see new AI features as every other smartphone brand is working to bring the best of AI features, and Xiaomi wouldn’t want to miss out on that.</p>

<p>HyperOS 2.0 release is still a few weeks away. According to a recent leak, Xiaomi might start rolling it out to eligible devices in the second week of October. As you may already know, recent flagship devices will be the first to join the party, followed by midrange and budget devices.</p>

<p>The wait is finally coming to an end as the Android 15 is confirmed to be released in October. So, we’re only a few weeks away from now. But that is not when smartphone brands such as Xiaomi start rolling out the latest updates.</p>

<p>In this post, I will share Xiaomi’s plan to roll out Android 15, along with details on eligible devices and expected features.</p>

<h2>Xiaomi Android 15 Release Timeline</h2>

<p>Since Android 15 isn’t out yet, brands are quiet on the release of their version of custom skins, such as One UI 7 for Samsung and OxygenOS 15 for OnePlus. For Xiaomi, it’s expected to be HyperOS 2.0, which will be based on Android 15.</p>

<p>Although Xiaomi hasn’t yet revealed a release date for HyperOS 2.0, a recent leak points to an October release. Last year, the HyperOS 1.0, based on Android 14, was also released in the same month.</p>

<p>Google has just released the source code of Android 15 to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). This means the new OS is fully baked in but not available for the public. However, it should not be too long before it rolls out to eligible Google Pixels, and then other brands will join the party.</p>

<h2>Xiaomi Android 15 Eligible Devices</h2>

<p>Xiaomi has already revealed the initial list of devices that will receive the Android 15 update. This includes:</p>

<ul><li>Xiaomi 14 Ultra</li><li>Xiaomi 14</li><li>Xiaomi 13 Pro</li><li>Xiaomi 13</li><li>Xiaomi 13 Lite</li><li>Xiaomi 13T Pro</li><li>Xiaomi 13T</li><li>Xiaomi 12 Pro</li><li>Xiaomi 12</li><li>Xiaomi 12T Pro</li><li>Xiaomi 12T</li><li>Xiaomi Pad 6</li><li>Redmi Note 13</li><li>Redmi Note 13 5G</li><li>Redmi Note 13 Pro</li><li>Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G</li><li>Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G</li><li>Redmi Note 12</li><li>Redmi 12 5G</li><li>Redmi 12</li><li>POCO M6 Pro 5G</li></ul>

<p>These Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco devices are guaranteed to receive the Android 15 update when it’s ready. However, this is not the final list, so many devices are missing.</p>

<p>Here are other Xiaomi devices that might also get upgraded to Android 15:</p>

<p><strong>(Xiaomi devices)</strong></p>

<ul><li>Xiaomi Mix Flip</li><li>Xiaomi Mix Fold 4</li><li>Xiaomi 14 Pro</li><li>Xiaomi 14 Civi</li><li>Xiaomi 13 Ultra</li><li>Xiaomi 12 Lite</li><li>Xiaomi 12S</li><li>Xiaomi 12S Pro</li><li>Xiaomi 12S Ultra</li><li>Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro</li><li>Xiaomi Civi 3</li><li>Xiaomi Civi 2</li><li>Xiaomi Civi 1S</li><li>Xiaomi Mix Fold 3</li><li>Xiaomi Mix Fold 2</li><li>Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro</li><li>Xiaomi Pad 6 Max 14</li><li>Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4</li><li>Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4</li></ul>

<p>We have created this unofficial list by analyzing the software update policy and previous rollouts.</p>

<p>Since all Xiaomi devices get at least one major upgrade, all upcoming devices launched with Android 14 are naturally eligible for Android 15.</p>

<h2>What’s New in Android 15?</h2>

<p>The next big software upgrade for Xiaomi devices will include many design changes and enhancements, as well as some new features directly from the development team at Xiaomi. Plus, there will be more improvements and new features as part of Android 15.</p>

<p>While most details about HyperOS 2.0 are still under the cover, some have been leaked recently.</p>

<p><strong>1. Redesigned Settings Menu</strong></p>

<p>A leaked HyperOS 2.0 screenshot shows a redesigned Settings menu that looks much better than before. Xiaomi has kept the same design for nearly a decade, so this change is a must for a fresh experience.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-2.0-settings-app-leaked-683x1024.jpg?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="683" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-2.0-settings-app-leaked-683x1024.jpg?x10805" alt="HyperOS 2.0 settings app (leaked)" class="wp-image-648746" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-2.0-settings-app-leaked-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-2.0-settings-app-leaked-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-2.0-settings-app-leaked-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-2.0-settings-app-leaked-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-2.0-settings-app-leaked-696x1044.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-2.0-settings-app-leaked-1068x1602.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-2.0-settings-app-leaked-280x420.jpg 280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-2.0-settings-app-leaked.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /><figcaption>HyperOS 2.0 Settings menu (leaked image)</figcaption></figure></a></div>

<p><strong>2. New Interface for Game Turbo</strong></p>

<p>A leaked image suggests that HyperOS 2.0 may have a completely redesigned Game Turbo. The design looks much better than the existing one, and it might also get new gaming features.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-2.0-game-turbo-leaked.webp?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-2.0-game-turbo-leaked.webp?x10805" alt="HyperOS 2.0 game turbo (leaked)" class="wp-image-648747" width="640" height="288" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-2.0-game-turbo-leaked.webp 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/HyperOS-2.0-game-turbo-leaked-300x135.webp 300w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /><figcaption>HyperOS 2.0 game turbo (leaked image)</figcaption></figure></a></div>

<p><strong>3. Smoother Animations</strong></p>

<p>Xiaomi is reportedly working to make animations more stable and smoother than before.</p>

<p><strong>4. More AI Features</strong></p>

<p>Smartphone brands are racing to bring the best AI features, and so is Xiaomi. The existing HyperOS already has many useful AI features, and there will be many more in HyperOS 2.0.</p>

<p><strong>5. Theft Detection Lock</strong></p>

<p>This is a core feature of Android 15 designed to stop thieves from stealing your data.</p>

<p>The Theft Detection Lock feature uses Google’s AI to determine when your device has been snatched from your hands. If it detects this, the device will lock itself automatically, preventing thieves from stealing your data. The best part is that thieves won’t be able to activate the device until they have your Google account details.</p>

<p>Snatching/stealing Android phones and selling them off for some money is a common practice among thieves, but Android 15 reduces the incentive by making the device unusable without the correct Google account details.</p>

<p><strong>6. Satellite Connectivity Support</strong></p>

<p>Android 15 “extends platform support for satellite connectivity.” It provides support for SMS, MMS, and native RCS apps to use satellite connectivity for sending and receiving messages.</p>

<p>The new OS adds some UI elements to ensure a consistent user experience. All Android 15 phones may not support satellite connectivity, as they will likely require special chip and carrier support.</p>

<p><strong>7. App Archiving</strong></p>

<p>If you have a lot of apps on your device, the app archiving feature might save you from running out of storage. This feature lets you uninstall/archive the app while keeping the user data around. So, the next time you install the app, you can continue where you left off.</p>

<p>Android smartphones already have the app archiving feature, but it’s restricted to apps installed from the Play Store apps. However, Android 15 has this feature baked in to also support apps installed outside of the Play Store.</p>

<p><strong>8. Split Screen App Pairs</strong></p>

<p>Android 15 lets you create shortcuts for your favourite split-screen app pairs. For example, you can create a shortcut for YouTube and Notes, which will open in the split screen mode when you tap the icon.</p>

<p>This might seem a minor addition, but it’s actually a big thing if you use multiple apps in the split-screen mode. This small addition might save you a lot of time.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/xiaomi/">Xiaomi</a> is known to be working on the second generation of HyperOS for quite a while. Xiaomitime previously spotted a line of code in the system that suggests that the company is working on HyperOS 2.0. Now the latest leak out of China claims that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/07/07/xiaomi-officially-starts-testing-xiaomi-hyperos-2-0/">HyperOS 2.0</a> will be released on October 10.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-1024x576.png?x10805" alt="Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0 update" class="wp-image-644534" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-1068x601.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-747x420.png 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>According to the image, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/redmi-k70-ultra/">Redmi K70 Ultra</a> (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/07/24/redmi-k70-ultra-review-yes-it-disrupted-the-market-again/">review</a>) may get the HyperOS 2.0 version OS2.0.1.0.VNNCNXM on October 10, 2024. So the second generation of HyperOS could launch on October 10.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Redmi-K70-Ultra-HyperOS-2.0.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-647467" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Redmi-K70-Ultra-HyperOS-2.0.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Redmi-K70-Ultra-HyperOS-2.0-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Redmi-K70-Ultra-HyperOS-2.0-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Redmi-K70-Ultra-HyperOS-2.0-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Redmi-K70-Ultra-HyperOS-2.0-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>For those questioning the possibility of Xiaomi releasing the new generation of HyperOS on a Redmi device first, it’s also possible that the company will launch the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi-15/">Xiaomi 15</a> and Xiaomi 15 Pro on the same date. It was previously rumored that the Xiaomi 15 series would be the first to run HyperOS 2.0.</p>

<h2>Possible improvements in HyperOS 2.0</h2>

<p>Interesting details have already been spotted about HyperOS 2.0. It will reputedly be based on both Android 14 and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-15/">Android 15</a> and will reach many Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices.</p>

<p>Based on what we know so far, HyperOS 2.0 will improve connectivity with other Xiaomi devices and will pack a feature that can detect hidden cameras. Lu Weibing, the President and General Manager of the Redmi and Xiaomi brand also previously hinted that HyperOS 2.0 is deeply integrated with LLMs, which possibly makes it a better AI phone.</p>

<p>The improved AI capabilities of HyperOS 2.0 could offer improved voice recognition, enhanced photo and video editing, and personalized app recommendations. All of it is aimed at making Xiaomi devices more intuitive and user-friendly.</p>

<p>Aside from the AI features noted above, HyperOS 2.0 could also use AI to offer &#8216;smart battery management&#8217;, improved charging, and other optimizations by observing user behavior.</p>

<p>In addition to the AI features, HyperOS 2.0 is reported to have a refreshed UI design. Users may also expect smoother animation than the previous generation, which should improve the multitasking experience. As part of the UI redesign, HyperOS 2.0 introduces enhanced notification management and additional home screen customization options, which should further improve the user experience.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi </a>is making significant progress with its new user interface HyperOS. As the company continues to develop and refine HyperOS, fans and developers are keeping a close eye on changes in the code. Recently, during the review of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/08/20/xiaomi-starts-rolling-out-android-15-beta-3-update/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HyperOS Android 15 Beta 3</a>, a new and exciting discovery was made that points to the upcoming release of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/07/07/xiaomi-officially-starts-testing-xiaomi-hyperos-2-0/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HyperOS 2.0.</a></p>

<h3>Xiaomi is already developing HyperOS 2.0</h3>

<p><a href="https://xiaomitime.com/first-signs-of-hyperos-2-0-found-in-mi-code-12480/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The XiaomiTime team</a> has found interesting details about HyperOS 2.0. The new interface will be based on Android versions 14 and 15 and is expected to be released on many Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO smartphones. While exploring the system&#8217;s code, a new line was found that wasn’t present in either HyperOS 1.5 or Android 15 Beta 2. The specific line of code reads:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="844" height="311" data-id="646560" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-is-under-development-seen-in-Mi-Code.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-646560" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-is-under-development-seen-in-Mi-Code.jpg 844w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-is-under-development-seen-in-Mi-Code-300x111.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-is-under-development-seen-in-Mi-Code-768x283.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-is-under-development-seen-in-Mi-Code-696x256.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 844px) 100vw, 844px" /><figcaption>.field public static HYPER_OS2:I = 0x0</figcaption></figure>
</figure>

<p>This little line may seem simple, but it is a strong sign that Xiaomi is preparing for the release of HyperOS 2.0. This suggests that the company is working hard on the next major version of HyperOS and optimizing to fix issues in the current version.</p>

<h3>Switching from MIUI 15 to HyperOS 2.0</h3>

<p>Initially, Xiaomi had planned to launch a new version of MIUI, known as MIUI 15. However, they later decided to introduce MIUI 15 as “HyperOS 1.0” instead. Due to this change, some signs of MIUI 15 code remained in the system. These remnants could indicate that Xiaomi is in a transition phase, moving away from MIUI and fully adopting HyperOS, or you can look at HyperOS 2.0 as MIUI 16.</p>

<p>The discoveries about HyperOS 2 further confirm that Xiaomi is now focusing on something beyond MIUI. The system codes no longer point to MIUI 15, instead showing the development of HyperOS 2.0.</p>

<p>This change also marks the end of MIUI, with Xiaomi fully embracing the HyperOS name and vision. By focusing on HyperOS, Xiaomi can simplify the development of new software and provide a better experience across all its devices.</p>

<p>Like any first-generation product, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/hyperos/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HyperOS</a> had its share of issues when it launched last year. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi</a> introduced it with the goal of unifying their product lineups under a single OS, which has largely been successful. However, some smartphones have experienced serious bugs and performance issues.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="558" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-1024x558.webp?x10805" alt="Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0" class="wp-image-644735" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-1024x558.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-300x163.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-768x418.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-696x379.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-771x420.webp 771w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0.webp 1054w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<h2>Improved performance and expanded support for older devices</h2>

<p>In response, Xiaomi is working to address these problems in the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/hyperos-2-0/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HyperOS 2.0</a> update. Industry insiders reveal that the company is investing significantly in optimizing the operating system to provide a smoother and more responsive user experience.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="946" height="292" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/image-36.png?x10805" alt="Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0 Leak" class="wp-image-644731" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/image-36.png 946w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/image-36-300x93.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/image-36-768x237.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/image-36-696x215.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 946px) 100vw, 946px" /></figure></div>

<p>According to reliable tipster Fixed Focus Digital, Xiaomi&#8217;s HyperOS 2.0 is expected to introduce cold start optimization, address lock screen mistouches, and refine car connectivity. Additionally, Xiaomi is reportedly expanding the OS&#8217;s compatibility to include a wider range of older devices, allowing more users to benefit from the new features.</p>

<p>In a related development, the recent departure of Jin Fan, Xiaomi&#8217;s Product Director and MIUI Experience Head, for a period of seclusion has sparked speculation about his role in the development of HyperOS 2.0. While <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi</a> has stated that Fan&#8217;s absence is unrelated to the project, many industry insiders believe his expertise is critical to the OS&#8217;s success.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/08/06/hyperos-2-0-could-scan-for-hidden-cameras-leaked-ui-hints/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Leaked information suggests</a> the OS may include a &#8220;Camera Scan&#8221; feature that uses WLAN signals to detect hidden cameras, aiming to enhance user privacy. Additionally, HyperOS 2.0 is expected to incorporate advanced AI capabilities, creating a more intelligent and user-focused ecosystem.</p>

<p>Although the official release date for HyperOS 2.0 is unconfirmed, it is speculated to launch alongside the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi-15/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi 15</a> series in late October. HyperOS was first introduced with the Xiaomi 14 series in China last October, replacing MIUI, and was later expanded to devices like the Redmi Note 13 Pro series, Poco X6 Pro, and M6 in India by early 2024.</p>

<p>Android 15 release is around the corner, and brands are already preparing for it. Xiaomi is one of them and is reportedly working on a new version of its custom skin — HyperOS 2.0. It is expected to be based on Android 15 and is said to bring plenty of upgrades, UI changes, and new features.</p>

<p>Thanks to past leaks, we already have information about what HyperOS 2.0 will offer and the changes it’ll bring. In addition to that, you’ll also learn about the potential release date and eligible devices in this post.</p>

<h2>What’s New in HyperOS 2.0?</h2>

<p>HyperOS was released last year, and it was quite clear that the company’s focus is on giving a minimalistic experience and a deeply connected ecosystem to manage all your Xiaomi devices. Naturally, you can expect improvements in these areas. But there’ll be a lot to look forward to in HyperOS 2.0.</p>

<p>According to a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/08/06/hyperos-2-0-could-scan-for-hidden-cameras-leaked-ui-hints/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">recent leak</a>, Xiaomi might be adding a new feature to HyperOS 2.0 that will allow users to scan for hidden cameras. It is said to use WLAN signals to detect cameras nearby. No such feature is currently offered by any smartphone brand. If this feature actually comes to HyperOS, it’ll be a big boost to user privacy.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-1024x683.png?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-1024x683.png?x10805" alt="HyperOS 2.0 camera detection" class="wp-image-644529" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-camera-detection-1.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>Another leak revealed that Xiaomi will offer increased virtual RAM (Memory Extension) up to 16GB, while it will be 6GB by default. More virtual RAM means more space for active apps, hence better multitasking.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-1024x683.png?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-1024x683.png?x10805" alt="HyperOS 2.0 Memory Expansion" class="wp-image-644532" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Memory-Expansion.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>It’s unlikely that all Xiaomi devices will get up to 16GB Memory Extension because of storage and hardware limitations. Hence, I assume that’ll only come to high-end and select mid-range phones.</p>

<p>Xiaomi is also reportedly working on a redesigned Settings homepage. Leaked screenshots (see below) reveal that HyperOS 2.0 could offer a card-like experience instead of the thin line-separated segments Xiaomi has been using for years.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-1024x683.png?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-1024x683.png?x10805" alt="HyperOS 2.0 Settings" class="wp-image-644531" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Settings.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>The new Settings homepage in leaked images looks modern. It will not just provide better aesthetics but also ensure smoother navigation and fluency.</p>

<p>Xiaomi is also said to be working on bringing a ripple effect to the upcoming version of HyperOS. It shows up when a user presses any volume keys, adding to a better user experience. This visual effect was introduced in the iOS 18 beta and could make its way to Xiaomi phones with the HyperOS 2.0 update.</p>

<p>A small but helpful feature that might come to HyperOS 2.0 is the ability to turn off the lock screen editor. You might already know that the lock screen editor comes up when you tap and hold the empty location on the lock screen. If this happens to you accidentally multiple times every day, it can be annoying. Hence, it’s a good move to let users decide if they want to keep it or not. </p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-1024x683.png?x10805" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-1024x683.png?x10805" alt="HyperOS 2.0 Lock Screen Editing" class="wp-image-644530" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/HyperOS-2.0-Lock-Screen-Editing.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>These are leaked features that might come to HyperOS 2.0. I’m sure Xiaomi has more in store, which will be unveiled at the HyperOS 2.0 release. Besides those HyperOS-exclusive features, there will be new features and enhancements from Android 15, such as satellite messaging, theft detection lock, app archiving, app pairs, and more. You can read about the best Android 15 features in <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/05/10/10-exciting-features-coming-to-android-15/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">this article</a>.</p>

<h2>HyperOS 2.0: When Is It Coming?</h2>

<p>Xiaomi hasn’t yet revealed a release date or timeline for HyperOS 2.0. However, a recent leak suggests it will be released around October, the same month HyperOS 1.0 was released in the previous year.</p>

<p>Thankfully, not everyone has to wait until the official release to get a taste of Android 15, as the beta program is already out for several devices, including Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi 13T Pro, and Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4. If you have any of these Xiaomi devices, you can participate in the Android 15 beta program and test new features ahead of the public release.</p>

<p>Android 15 is currently going through the platform stability phase. It’s the final phase of development, in which Google removes bugs and adds final touches to the new OS before the stable release.</p>

<p>The stable version of Android 15 is expected to be released in October; the same month, we might see Xiaomi releasing HyperOS 2.0.</p>

<p>All exciting upgrades are just a few weeks away, but is your Xiaomi device eligible for that? Check out the next section for more details.</p>

<p>Although the technical specifics are not yet known, the technology is thought to use WLAN searches similar to the open-source Ingram program on GitHub.</p>

<p>HyperOS 2.0 is expected to launch sometime in October 2024, coinciding with the first anniversary of HyperOS 1.0&#8217;s introduction. In addition to the camera detection feature, the update is expected to improve device performance, enhance connectivity between Xiaomi devices, and offer more user customization options.</p>

<p>Xiaomi introduced HyperOS with its flagship Xiaomi 14 series in China last October, replacing the long-standing MIUI operating system. The OS reached the Indian market with the Poco X6 Pro in January 2024 and later rolled out to other devices like the Poco M4 Pro, C65, and M6 by Q2 this year.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Xiaomi-officially-starts-testing-Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0.png?x10805" alt="" /></figure></div>

<p>If the rumored camera detection feature is implemented, it could set a new standard for privacy-focused functionalities in smartphone operating systems. This comes at a time when concerns about personal privacy and security are at an all-time high. However, it remains to be seen how effective this WLAN-based approach will be in real-world situations.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It&#8217;s important to note that the information above is based on leaks and rumors. We&#8217;ll have to wait for an official announcement from Xiaomi to confirm the exact features and functionalities of HyperOS 2.0.</p>

<h2>Internal testing of HyperOS 2 is set to begin in August</h2>

<p>HyperOS 2 is expected to be another successful custom skin from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi</a> on top of Android. HyperOS has already attracted the attention of many Android users since it was released.</p>

<p>According to industry sources, HyperOS 2.0 will make significant improvements on top of HyperOS. It will solve some glaring issues of the previous version and offer a series of exciting new features.</p>

<p>Xiaomi&#8217;s latest flagship, the Xiaomi 14 series, will likely get the HyperOS 2 update first. According to a report, internal testing of HyperOS 2 will begin in August.</p>

<p>The upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi-15/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi 15</a> series, which is expected to launch around late October, will come with HyperOS 2 out of the box. Speaking of the global version of HyperOS 2, it is expected to debut in late December or early next year. Alongside Xiaomi 14 series devices, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/07/08/redmi-k80-series-design-details-emerge-launch-expected-after-redmi-note-14-series/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Redmi K80 series</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-poco-f6/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Poco F6</a> series will be one of the first to get the update.</p>

<p>Unfortunately, the company has not revealed any specific improvements that they are working on. However, it is safe to say that the update will aim to improve the system functions to make it more fluent and improve the overall user experience. It is expected that the update will bring further enhancements to the system animations and include some AI features.</p>

<p>For people unfamiliar with Xiaomi&#8217;s HyperOS, it comes with a significantly lighter footprint and occupies significantly less storage space on user devices. For reference, HyperOS occupies only 9.14 GB as compared to 12.53 GB of a recent MIUI version. HyperOS also offers a relatively simpler user interface. Xiaomi has greatly focused on keeping a minimalist experience with its now custom skin.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi</a> has officially started testing <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/06/25/how-to-easily-download-xiaomi-hyperos-updates/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HyperOS 2.0.</a> New information spotted by the XiaomiTime team shows that HyperOS 2.0 is officially being tested. There have been some leaks about HyperOS 2.0 for a few weeks. But we weren&#8217;t sure if they were true. Now, the XiaomiTime team has found important information confirming that HyperOS 2.0 is officially being tested. We will now announce this important information. HyperOS 2.0 will be officially introduced in October.</p>

<h2>Xiaomi officially starts work on HyperOS 2.0</h2>

<p>Xiaomi has officially accelerated work on HyperOS 2.0. A new extension called [OSBigversion] has been discovered on the Xiaomi OTA server. This new extension specifies <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/06/28/xiaomi-released-a-new-update-that-we-can-call-hyperos-1-5/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HyperOS versions.</a> For example, if you are using HyperOS 1.0, this extension will be shown as [OSBigversion] =&gt; 1.0. Or, say you&#8217;re using HyperOS 2.0, this extension will be shown as [OSBigversion] =&gt; 2.0.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="673" height="151" data-id="636806" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Xiaomi-officially-starts-testing-Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-1.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-636806" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Xiaomi-officially-starts-testing-Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-1.png 673w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Xiaomi-officially-starts-testing-Xiaomi-HyperOS-2.0-1-300x67.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 673px) 100vw, 673px" /></figure>
</figure>

<p>Previously there was no OSBigversion extension, instead, there was a [Bigversion] extension for major MIUI versions. This Bigversion extension specified the major MIUI versions. For example, if you were using MIUI 14, it would show up as &#8220;[bigversion] =&gt; 14&#8221;. Xiaomi has been using this type of extension for years. Now we see that a special &#8220;OSBigversion&#8221; extension is used for HyperOS.</p>

<p>This extension is added to the OTA server to differentiate between new HyperOS versions. With the new extension, new HyperOS versions will arrive safely on your device without any problems. This indicates that the HyperOS 2.0 development has officially started.</p>

<p>Also, HyperOS versions have build numbers starting with V816. MIUI was first released on 16.8.2010. Therefore, Xiaomi has set the build number to V816. Actually, there are different situations related to this build number. </p>

<p>Before HyperOS 1.0 was released, this new version had build number V15. This indicates that HyperOS 1.0 is a rebranded MIUI 15. Some people were speculating that Xiaomi was making a new operating system. But this is not true. At the moment you don&#8217;t even know that you are using MIUI 15.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped">

<p>HyperOS 2.0 is expected to be announced with the Xiaomi 15 series in October. Xiaomi usually announces a new user interface with a big launch and gradually starts to release the new update. All we have to do now is to wait patiently for HyperOS 2.0.</p>
