Buyers found that the device has a slow and sometimes unreliable sensor, but this might be the case due to an intended design.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-423550 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Google-Pixel-6.jpg?x10805" alt="Google Pixel 6" width="856" height="386" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Google-Pixel-6.jpg 856w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Google-Pixel-6-300x135.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Google-Pixel-6-768x346.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Google-Pixel-6-696x314.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 856px) 100vw, 856px" /></p>
<p>Although under display fingerprint readers have been around for a while now, they were initially slower and sometimes unreliable as well. But in recent times, this difference between a regular fingerprint reader on the rear and the one under the display has more or less been eliminated. But, the search engine giant&#8217;s latest flagships are still facing criticism for what is described by many users as a slow fingerprint scanner. While it was hoped that the issue would more or less be fixed with a patch/update, official confirmation from the company has made things a bit more complicated.</p>
<p>According to an <a href="https://twitter.com/madebygoogle/status/1457043416139898881" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">official tweet from Google</a>,  the Pixel 6 features &#8220;enhanced security algorithms&#8221; that verify fingerprints. In other words, this may even cause the sensor to be delayed or even miss at times. The tweet further added that &#8220;<span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">these added protections can take longer to verify or require more direct contact with the sensor.</span>&#8221; The company also advises users to keep their fingers clean and properly press it on of the sensor for optimum results. However, this does not address the various issues many have been facing with this sensor.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-420173 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Pixel-6-Pro-featured.png?x10805" alt="Google" width="734" height="480" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Pixel-6-Pro-featured.png 734w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Pixel-6-Pro-featured-300x196.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Pixel-6-Pro-featured-696x455.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Pixel-6-Pro-featured-642x420.png 642w" sizes="(max-width: 734px) 100vw, 734px" /></p>
<p>Some believe that Google using an in display optical sensor might be the issue, but there are a number of smartphones that feature this technology without these issues. But there is still one silver lining, since the company has basically confirmed with the tweet that the issue is based on software. Meaning, it might be something solvable in the near future. Although, if we can discern one thing from the official tweet, it is that Google does not consider the slow sensor as an issue that needs to be fixed.</p>

<p>According to a <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-01-15/apple-considers-foldable-iphone-minor-changes-planned-for-2021-models" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Bloomberg</em> </a>report, the Cupertino based giant is testing an in display fingerprint scanner for the iPhone 13, as one of the key upgrades for its 2021 iPhone lineup. Starting with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-x/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone X</a>, the company has mostly discontinued Touch ID from its mainline iPhone series for the facial recognition system, Face ID, for biometric security. But the report states that the system has become less practical due to the pandemic, which has caused users to wear masks when outside.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/17/top-stories-from-last-week-iqoo-7-and-galaxy-s21-series-launched-ces-2021-and-more/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Top stories from last week: iQOO 7 and Galaxy S21 series launched, CES 2021, and more</a></strong></h6>
<p>So, Apple might be working on a more practical solution for its iPhone 13 series, which is already present available on Android smartphones for a couple of years now. The report also claims that the company will still keep Face ID, but might be considering the removal of a charging port on certain iPhone models in favor of wireless charging. Similarly, the report also talks about the company working on a foldable iPhone as well.</p>

<p>The source claims that internal testing for prototype foldable displays are already being undertaken and the screen will feature a hinge design similar to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Samsung</a>&#8216;s foldable smartphones, with one of them featuring a 6.7 inch display. The Chinese tech giant has managed to include an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/in-display-fingerprint-scanner/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">in display fingerprint scanner</a> right under an LCD screen. Currently, this technology is only available in OLED displays so this news arrives as a notable advancement in this field.</p>
<p>Ever since the displays on the front of the smartphone grew while the bezels diminished, manufacturers had to work on innovative ways to still provide the crucial fingerprint scanner biometric security feature. Some included it in the sides while a majority took to the rear. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/brand/apple/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple</a>, on the other hand, went full speed ahead with facial recognition, but the Android industry had already moved on to under screen display at this point.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-309227 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-164.png?x10805" alt="Redmi" width="921" height="860" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-164.png 921w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-164-300x280.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-164-768x717.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-164-696x650.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-164-450x420.png 450w" sizes="(max-width: 921px) 100vw, 921px" /></p>
<p>Smartphones now arrived with fingerprint scanners right under the OLED panels. So, a large shift was seen in the display market with LED manufacturing pioneers like LG and Samsung seeing sizeable growth in customers while <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/02/03/samsung-and-lg-planning-on-selling-major-share-of-their-lcd-operations-worth-33-billion-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">selling their LCD businesses entirely</a>. This even led to a fall in the LCD industry. But now, the inclusion of the fingerprint scanner under an LCD screen implies that budget smartphones might now even be able to feature this technology as well.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/03/09/infinix-s5-pro-debuts-with-6-53-inch-notch-less-screen-pop-up-selfie-camera-for-rs-9999-135/">Infinix S5 Pro debuts with 6.53-inch notch-less screen, pop-up selfie camera for Rs. 9,999 (~$135)</a></strong></h6>
<p>Back in 2018, one of the biggest trends at the time was the in display fingerprint scanner, which is still a common feature in the most upper mid range and flagship smartphones. Unfortunately, due to the thin nature of the OLED panels which allowed for better light transmission, the LCD screen was overlooked in most regards. But today, the Redmi senior executive has announced the inclusion of the under screen fingerprint scanners on LCDs.</p>

<video class="wp-video-shortcode" id="video-309225-1" width="640" height="368" preload="metadata" controls="controls"><source type="video/mp4" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/7mEptTIPlx07ByWsK5yg010412000YLk0E010.mp4?_=1" /><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/7mEptTIPlx07ByWsK5yg010412000YLk0E010.mp4">https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/7mEptTIPlx07ByWsK5yg010412000YLk0E010.mp4</a></video></div>
<p>According to the Weibo post, the company achieved this by using infrared through high transmittance film materials. This greatly improved the permeation of light and allowed it to pass through the screen, allowing the fingerprint sensor to read one&#8217;s fingers. Previously, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/06/27/boe-to-begin-mass-production-of-lcd-panels-with-optical-fingerprint-recognition-this-year/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">BOE had announced that it had achieved the same feat</a>, but it is unknown if the brand also had a hand in Redmi&#8217;s success as well.</p>

<p>The implications of this are huge as the LCD screen market might see a notable rise in the upcoming months or by next year. The lower mid range bracket to even budget smartphone might finally see the technology in its price ranges as well. Redmi even shared a video showcasing the technology in real life use, so you can check that out above.</p>

This price is available once again until September 15th on Aliexpress for those who didn&#8217;t catch the deal on time. In the meantime, the company shared the teardown video of the device so that users can check out the build quality.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/S4BD5vDmjww?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>After the removal of the SIM tray and the back panel, the disassembly is pretty straightforward and all you need is a screwdriver to go all the way. This also means that it is easy to repair. Of course, the video shared focuses on the in-screen fingerprint sensor and triple rear camera which are the highlights of the device.</p>

<p>According to the manufacturer, the device is equipped with the latest generation optical in-screen fingerprint sensor, which looks like a camera and it can capture a photo of your thumbprint to unlock the screen. It comes from Goodix, the provider of in-screen fingerprint modules for tech giants like Huawei and Xiaomi. In addition, the company points out the NFC chip found inside, a feature missing from most budget devices. Lastly, the 48MP AI triple rear camera setup (48MP/8MP ultra wide/5MP depth camera), 4150mAh big battery with 18W fast charging, and large storage (128GB) are some other specs worth pointing out.</p>

As the company claims, the Z5 Pro will be among the first few models in the world to launch with the new 64MP Samsung sensor. This new sensor is almost certainly the Samsung ISOCELL GW1 which was announced by Samsung recently. This teaser means that Xiaomi and Realme won’t alone in offering this feature soon.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Z5-Pro-1.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-270147" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Z5-Pro-1.jpg?x10805" alt="UMIDIGI Z5 Pro" width="600" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Z5-Pro-1.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Z5-Pro-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Z5-Pro-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Z5-Pro-1-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Z5-Pro-1-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Z5-Pro-1-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Z5-Pro-1-1068x1068.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Z5-Pro-1-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The company&#8217;s sample image shows a cat and a zoomed-in section of the cat’s fur. As indicated the 64MP sensor is from Samsung and should be the same Samsung ISOCELL GW1 as Xiaomi&#8217;s and Realme’s devices. There&#8217;s little more to say about the photo other than it certainly seems to pack plenty of detail. The GW1 sensor measures 1/1.7&#8243; in size with 1.6um pixel size and is 38% larger than the current 48MP sensor. It uses ISOCELL Plus technology that increases light intake and catches colors more accurately resulting in bright, sharp, and vibrant images across different lighting environments.</p>

<p>The Z5 Pro will feature the 64MP sensor and while the company hasn&#8217;t yet announced this year&#8217;s Z Series, the Z5 Pro is definitely one of the devices coming soon. We hope that there will be a non-pro version that will at least feature a 48MP sensor on the back so that users will have to choose between 2 great devices according to their budget.</p>

UMIDIGI X is <a href="http://bit.ly/UmidigiX"><strong>the first phone from the company</strong></a> that comes with such a sensor and the most affordable to date, as it costs around $200. It uses the best <strong>optical sensor</strong> from Goodix, the same that brands like Huawei, Xiaomi, and OnePlus use. There is another implementation though, that uses ultrasonic waves to scan the fingertip and this is what Samsung uses in its latest flagship, Galaxy Note 10. According to tests, the optical sensor is better than the ultrasonic one. Let&#8217;s check out the video below.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Kp1hrTUAldM?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>Except for Samsung’s flagships Galaxy S10 and Note 10, all new phones of the companies mentioned use the optical fingerprint sensor built by the same company Goodix. In theory, an ultrasonic scanner is more secure, because it uses soundwaves to map a 3D print of the user&#8217;s unique epidermis, whereas optical scanners rely on light information to capture a 2D photo of the fingerprint. There has been no evidence supporting that an ultrasonic solution is more secure than an optical solution and on top of that, real-world tests from many reviewers confirm that an optical in-screen fingerprint sensor is faster than the ultrasonic one.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-1.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-269653" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-1.jpg?x10805" alt="UMIDIGI X" width="600" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-1.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-1-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-1-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-1-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-1-1068x1068.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-1-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Compared to the previous-gen, the latest optical in-screen fingerprint sensor offered by Goodix has a 100% larger optical sensing area, an upgraded recognition algorithm, 35% faster screen unlock, and 30% better performance in extreme situations according to UMIDIGI. We will be able to check the performance in real-life soon and decide if the $200 budget phone offers better in-screen fingerprint unlock experience than Samsung’s $1000 flagship.</p>

Even the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 that will be launching today, is said to lose the analog port. The solution is a wireless headset of course and the Chinese manufacturer UMIDIGI has you covered as the <a href="http://ali.pub/3mbfg4"><strong>Upods</strong></a> that were announced on Monday along with the <a href="http://ali.pub/3mbfey"><strong>UMIDIGI X</strong></a> not only offer great performance but a great price too, as the first 10000 units will be available <a href="http://ali.pub/3mbfg4"><strong>at just $9.9</strong></a> starting on August 26 exclusively at the UMIDIGI Official Store on Aliexpress.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods-1.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-268900" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods-1.jpg?x10805" alt="UMIDIGI Upods" width="450" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods-1.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods-1-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods-1-696x928.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods-1-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px" /></a></p>
<p>The killer feature for these truly wireless headphones is the 24 hours battery life that is offered through the charging box and that is double of what the Xiaomi Airdots offer. If you accidentally forget to take the charging box with you, the headset still performs well as it can go on for 4 hours on a single charge. Upods sport Bluetooth 5.0 and 7.2mm dynamic driver that deliver a stable connection and decent sound. Each piece weighs just 4g and the pair supports all major AI assistants like Google Assistant, Siri, and Samsung&#8217;s Bixby.</p>

Together with the new mid-range flagship, the Chinese manufacturer also announced the <a href="http://ali.pub/3mbfg4"><strong>UMIDIGI Upods</strong></a>, the company&#8217;s truly wireless earbuds. Both will go on global sale exclusively at the UMIDIGI Official Store on Aliexpress on August 26th (7 am GMT). Despite the official announcement, the price of the phone will be revealed later with the company claiming that it will be the most affordable phone with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. So, we expect the price would be much lower than recently released Xiaomi Mi A3. Let&#8217;s check out some key specs of the new model.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SsWqWNTdtFo?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h4><strong>Latest gen in-screen fingerprint sensor and AMOLED for everyone</strong></h4>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-2.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-268280" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-2.jpg?x10805" alt="UMIDIGI X" width="800" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-2.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-2-300x187.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-2-768x480.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-2-1024x639.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-2-696x435.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-2-1068x667.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-2-673x420.jpg 673w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>In-screen fingerprint sensor for the masses! This feature is not a privilege of expensive flagships anymore.  UMIDIGI brings this high-end feature to the budget segment as the X features the latest <strong>optical in-display fingerprint sensor</strong> by Goodix, the same company that supplies tech giants like Huawei and Xiaomi. Also, it’s impressive that UMIDIGI equips the phone with a <strong>6.35&#8243; AMOLED display</strong> panel that is usually reserved for flagships.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h4><strong>48MP AI triple camera with ultra-wide-angle lens</strong></h4>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-268281" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3.jpg?x10805" alt="UMIDIGI X" width="800" height="568" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-300x213.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-768x546.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-1024x727.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-100x70.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-696x494.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-1068x759.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-X-3-591x420.jpg 591w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>The 48MP sensors are the new&#8230; black in the smartphone industry and UMIDIGI couldn&#8217;t offer anything less than a <strong>48MP AI triple rear camera</strong> setup (48MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, 5MP depth). The 48MP main camera has a half-inch sensor with f/1.79 large aperture and 1.6μm (4in1) super-pixel that should perform well both in low-light and daylight conditions. The 8MP camera with the <strong>ultra-wide-angle</strong> lens on the other hand, is capable of capturing a wide view. Lastly, the 5MP <strong>depth sensor</strong> is required for accurate bokeh shots. All this hardware combined with <strong>AI algorithms</strong> allow for features like super night mode and AI scenes detection on the phone. The selfie shooter is 16MP and also uses AI to improve selfies.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h4><strong>Other goodies on UMIDIGI X</strong></h4>
<p>Besides the killer features of the fingerprint unlock and 48MP triple camera, the X comes with Helio P60 SoC backed by 4GB of RAM and <strong>128GB of storage</strong>. The battery is big, at <strong>4150mAh</strong> and supports 18W fast charging. Despite the big battery and multi-function NFC, the phone manages to remain at only 8.1mm thickness. UMIDIGI X runs on pure stock <strong>Android 9 Pie</strong> and a planned update to <strong>Android Q</strong> is coming according to the company. Of course, just like other UMIDIGI phones, the phone supports dual-4G VoLTE as well as global LTE bands.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h4><strong>Truly wireless earbuds UMIDIGI Upods</strong></h4>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-268283" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods.png?x10805" alt="UMIDIGI Upods" width="600" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods.png 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods-150x150.png 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods-300x300.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods-768x768.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods-1024x1024.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods-696x696.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods-1068x1068.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/UMIDIGI-Upods-420x420.png 420w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Alongside UMIDIGI X, the Chinese manufacturer also unveiled its new truly wireless earbuds Upods. The Upods headset is equipped with Bluetooth 5.0 and 7.2mm dynamic driver, delivering a stable connection and superior sound. Also, in the likes of Apple&#8217;s Airpods, it comes with a 600mAh charging box that helps the Upods to function 24 hours continuously. Each earbud weighs just 4g and their ergonomic design makes them comfortable to wear. They also support Google Assistant and Siri activation.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>The UMIDIGI X global sale will kick off on August 26th. The price is yet to be known but a low price tag is expected since the company claims it’s the most affordable phone with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. In addition, the UMIDIGI Official Store is holding a guess-price contest where you can guess the price and win prizes. The first 1000 units will receive the Upods for free so you better <a href="http://ali.pub/3mbfey"><strong>add the phone to your cart</strong></a> right now to not miss the deal. If the evolution continues, it is safe to say that with the help of software too, smartphone cameras will be competitive to DSLR cameras in the next decade. The same 48MP sensor (we don&#8217;t know if the sensor comes from Sony or Samsung yet) appears in the latest teaser video of the upcoming UMIDIGI X. It will feature a triple camera on the back with one ultra-wide lens and AI support. The <a href="https://bit.ly/umidigiGiveaway"><strong>official release</strong></a> will take place on August 5th where we&#8217;ll learn all the details.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/NurgUWAzWXY?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>In the video, UMIDIGI claims that you don&#8217;t have to carry any heavy equipment like a DSLR camera or a bulky lens as the UMIDIGI X with its triple camera setup and AI support has got you covered. The 48MP main camera will help you catch more details, the AI function will optimize your photos without the need of editing on a computer, while the ultra-wide-angle lens will help you see more in a single shot. The video also confirms the clean back cover design for UMIDIGI X.</p>

<p>Besides the 48MP ultra-wide AI triple camera, in previous leaks, the UMIDIGI X has already been confirmed to house the latest optical in-display fingerprint sensor and come with a 6.35″ AMOLED display with a small waterdrop notch, as well as a slim body despite the big, 4150mAh battery and NFC it comes with.</p>

<p>The X will be revealed together with the company&#8217;s new truly wireless earphones -Upods- next Monday, before Samsung launches its expensive flagship, Galaxy Note 10. More details are going to surface before the launch but if you want to be among the first to get the UMIDIGI X, you can try your luck in the <a href="https://bit.ly/umidigiGiveaway"><strong>Giveaway Event</strong></a> currently running.</p>

<p>Adopting the tech that Apple introduced with the Airpods and like many other true wireless earbuds, the Upods are a pair of tiny in-ear plugs that connect to your phone via Bluetooth and come with a charging case that makes sure they stay charged all the time. The headset has a professional, clean and all-around sleek design, looking decidedly earpiece-like. Also, the case remains small in size with round edges and corners, making it pocket-friendly.</p>

<p>UMIDIGI claims that Upods is the world&#8217;s smallest 24h-lasting wireless earbuds and its price will be around $30. The rest of the specs remain unknown for the time being but they are to be confirmed soon, on August 5th that the release event will take place together with the UMIDIGI X presentation. If you want to be among the first to get the UMIDIGI X, the company is giving you a chance to win its future smartphone <a href="https://bit.ly/umidigiGiveaway"><strong>here</strong></a>.</p>

The device was supposed to be &#8220;coming soon&#8221; and indeed, the new budget king UMIDIGI X will be unveiled on August 5th. According to previous leaks as well as the new leaked render, the UMIDIGI X will indeed sport an in-screen fingerprint reader as well as a triple rear camera with 48MP main sensor. Also, the event poster suggests that on August 5th, the company will also launch its new true wireless earphones, <strong>Upods</strong>.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Screenshot_2019-07-22-15-56-37-740_com.adobe_.reader.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-265592" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Screenshot_2019-07-22-15-56-37-740_com.adobe_.reader.jpg?x10805" alt="UMIDIGI X" width="686" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Screenshot_2019-07-22-15-56-37-740_com.adobe_.reader.jpg 1080w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Screenshot_2019-07-22-15-56-37-740_com.adobe_.reader-300x262.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Screenshot_2019-07-22-15-56-37-740_com.adobe_.reader-768x671.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Screenshot_2019-07-22-15-56-37-740_com.adobe_.reader-1024x895.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Screenshot_2019-07-22-15-56-37-740_com.adobe_.reader-696x608.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Screenshot_2019-07-22-15-56-37-740_com.adobe_.reader-1068x934.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Screenshot_2019-07-22-15-56-37-740_com.adobe_.reader-481x420.jpg 481w" sizes="(max-width: 686px) 100vw, 686px" /></a></p>
<p>As you can see in the photo, the UMIDIGI X features a clean back cover with cool flame hue and that&#8217;s a result of the fingerprint reader being moved under the display. As for the main camera, it is an AI triple camera setup that includes a 48MP ultra clarity sensor and an ultrawide-angle lens. On the front, the phone sports a small waterdrop notch that contributes to the high screen/body ratio. Also, information talk about a slim body despite the 4150mAh battery inside it that supports 18W fast charging and the NFC chip.</p>

<p>As for the new headset that will be presented together with the X, all we know right now is that it will be called Upods. The design is similar to Sony’s latest true wireless noise cancelling earbuds Sony WF-1000XM3. Judging from the fact that UMIDIGI X is expected to be the most affordable smartphone with in-screen fingerprint reader and 48MP AI triple camera, the true wireless earphones Upods should also come with a great price tag.</p>

According to leaked specs, the <a href="http://bit.ly/umidigiGiveaway"><strong>upcoming device</strong></a> is going to sport an in-display fingerprint sensor as well as a triple rear camera with 48MP main sensor! A leaked photo of the protective sticker implies that the device is already in production and reveals all the key specs.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-1.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-264823" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-1.jpg?x10805" alt="UMIDIGI X" width="400" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-1.jpg 2070w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-1-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-1-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-1-682x1024.jpg 682w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-1-696x1044.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-1-1068x1603.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-1-280x420.jpg 280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-1-1920x2881.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px" /></a></p>
<p>The specs revealed talk about a 6.35&#8243; <strong>AMOLED</strong> display with an embedded fingerprint sensor. If this turns out to be accurate, the UMIDIGI X will be the first device of the company to come with these two high-end flagship features (48MP camera and AMOLED display). The sticker doesn&#8217;t reveal the shape of the display so we can&#8217;t tell if it will come with a notch or if the Chinese manufacturer will use a pop-up camera.</p>
<p>Talking about the camera, the X will come with a configuration similar to the A5 Pro. There will be a <strong>48MP AI triple camera</strong> setup that will include an ultra-wide-angle lens. It is the first time that UMIDIGI stresses the AI capabilities of a phone&#8217;s camera and we can assume that it will come with the same camera features that S3 Pro gained after the latest software update (Super Night mode and AI scenes detection). This attention to software is very promising for the company&#8217;s users.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-2.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-264822" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-2.jpg?x10805" alt="UMIDIGI X" width="600" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-2.jpg 1500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-2-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-2-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-2-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-2-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-2-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-2-1068x1068.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/UMIDIGI-X-2-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>In addition, the sticker also mentions the <strong>4150mAh battery</strong> capacity that supports 18W fast charging as well as the multi-function NFC that supports Google Pay. Despite the large battery capacity, the UMIDIGI X will allegedly have a thin, 7.9mm profile. The device will most certainly come with a budget price but we won&#8217;t know for sure until it&#8217;s officially released. If you want to be among the first to get the upcoming device, UMIDIGI is giving you a chance to win its future smartphone <a href="http://bit.ly/umidigiGiveaway"><strong>here</strong></a>.</p>

The leaked poster says that it is will be named UMIDIGI X but that might be a temporary name. According to the same poster, the phone is going to come with an in-display fingerprint sensor, a feature that is mostly found in expensive flagship devices. But according to UMIDIGI’s strategy until now, this one should be part of the budget market segment.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/UMIDIGI-X-leaked.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-261215" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/UMIDIGI-X-leaked.jpg?x10805" alt="UMIDIGI X" width="600" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/UMIDIGI-X-leaked.jpg 1500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/UMIDIGI-X-leaked-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/UMIDIGI-X-leaked-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/UMIDIGI-X-leaked-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/UMIDIGI-X-leaked-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/UMIDIGI-X-leaked-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/UMIDIGI-X-leaked-1068x1068.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/UMIDIGI-X-leaked-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Currently, in-display fingerprint readers can only be applied to OLED displays so the UMIDIGI X will certainly come with one. That&#8217;s great since OLED panels have more accurate colors with true black, better contrast, and sometimes better brightness than common LCD panels. Also, they are more power efficient most of the times since LCD panels have always-on LEDs to function while OLED panels only light the portion of the display that&#8217;s needed. Apart from the fingerprint reader, the poster shows that there is no notch on the top. Does this mean that it could come with a fullview display and a pop-up selfie camera like Xiaomi Mi 9T or OnePlus 7 Pro? We&#8217;ll investigate and post any new information that comes up.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/UMIDIGI-Ubeats-cover-1.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-259457" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/UMIDIGI-Ubeats-cover-1.png?x10805" alt="UMIDIGI Ubeats" width="720" height="420" /></a></p>
<p>Of course, there is no launch date available right now nor is the price. It is speculated that UMIDIGI would reveal the new device in early August. In the meantime, UMIDIGI is globally recruiting 30 trial users to test its smart devices <a href="http://ali.pub/3fqtzx"><strong>UMIDIGI Ubeats</strong></a>, UMIDIGI Uwatch 2, and UMIDIGI Selfie Stick (10 units each) to help improve the user experience. Well, the new <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-9">Xiaomi Mi 9</a> and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-9-se">Mi 9 SE</a> are going to get this useful feature through a new update starting this week. The MIUI update that the Chinese giant is going to roll out to both its latest high-end devices will allow everyone to simply touch on the fingerprint reader area in order to open customized shortcuts.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-240226" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/9-1.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="598" height="691" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/9-1.jpg 598w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/9-1-260x300.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 598px) 100vw, 598px" /></p>
<p>In order to use the feature, the user will need to long press on the fingerprint reader: after that, a menu with several shortcuts will appear and the user will need to swipe on the desired app or feature in order to open it. Besides opening apps, the new fingerprint shortcut feature can also be used to summon the Xiao AI voice assistant, to open the mobile payments screen and much more.</p>
<p>Besides Xiaomi Mi 9 and Mi 9 SE, the feature will be available even on other Xiaomi devices, but only the ones equipped with an in-display fingerprint reader: the Mi 8 Pro was already confirmed a few days ago, and probably the feature will soon land even on the Mi 8 Explorer Edition that is the world&#8217;s first Xiaomi phone with a pressure sensitive in-display fingerprint reader.</p>

</ul>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The update for the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE and Mi 9 SE will also bring some camera improvements to the two handsets: there will be a new 48 MP camera mode, a super wide-angle mode with the support to flash and more. Last but not least, the update brings new security patches. In order to check if it is rolling out on your unit, you can head to the Settings menu and check the Info section about your device, then tap on Software updates.</p>

Despite being released after just a few months, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/oppo-r17">Oppo R17</a> is a decent upgrade over its predecessor. One of the most important improvements is with regards to its security: now, the latest handset from the R series packs an innovative in-display fingerprint reader. A solution which has been thought for devices with very narrow bezels which cannot include a fingerprint reader on the front side.</p>
<p>Thanks to a new hands on video, we can see the in-display fingerprint reader unlocking the Oppo R17 in a pretty fast and accurate way. The guy in the video touches the lower part of the display with its finger, it gets lightened up and the phone gets unlocked in less than a second. The innovative biometric sensor is clearly slower than traditional fingerprint readers, but it manages to stay pretty fast.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" title="Oppo R17 hands-on" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/v7kKda2tOTg?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>As you can see from the video, it has a minimal notch which only includes the front camera. Oppo R17 is the first smartphone to boast the octa-core Snapdragon 670 chipset by Qualcomm, an underclocked version of the Snapdragon 710 which runs at a max frequency of 2 GHz. Alongside the new chipset, there are whopping 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The company has focused a lot on the camera department with a 16 and 20 MP dual rear camera (f/1.7 aperture) and a 25 MP front camera with a f/2.0 aperture.</p>
<p>The new Oppo R17 comes with a wonderful and clean glass back, as well as an aluminum frame. It has also been launched in stunning gradient hues (stream blue and neon purple). Its display is an OLED panel (the only kind of panel supported by in-display fingerprint readers) with a size of 6.4 inches and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels.</p>

Thanks to a very innovative chip released by Synaptics, if you own this phone you can unlock it through fingerprint recognition by simply touching the display. So, the sensor is embedded right into the display as there is no space for a Home key due to the full bezel-less design. However, in-display fingerprint readers are slower and less efficient than the traditional fingerprint readers which often put them at an operational disadvantage.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-196561" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo.jpg?x10805" alt="vivo x21" width="600" height="1266" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-142x300.jpg 142w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-485x1024.jpg 485w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>A new update which has just been rolled out on the Vivo X21 is now improving the fingerprint reader experience by making it safer and more efficient. According to the official changelog released, the new update will improve the fingerprint reader processing logic, improving the security and efficiency of the authentication process. The improvements to the fingerprint reader are not the only ones implemented through this new update of Funtouch OS (the customized Android fork made by Vivo). With this update, the company has added sticky notes and made some optimizations to the driving mode making it more user friendly.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Further, the update brings Funmoji, a set of customized emojis working through AR. In a similar way to Apple&#8217;s Animoji, the user can create emojis based on its facial expressions. The update rolled out on Vivo X21 also contains optimizations to the system layout and to the icons&#8217; priority in the status bar. There are also some improvements with regards to the system resource scheduling mechanism and the system stability and efficiency. Given its size, we suggest you to download the update while you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.</p>

But what is inside its beautiful shell? Thanks to the first teardown photos surfaced online we can finally see under its wide and notched display. According to the source, if you own a unit of the Vivo X21, in order to open the phone you need to remove the SIM card tray, then remove two screws by using a normal screwdriver.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-194530" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/q1.png?x10805" alt="vivo x21" width="483" height="246" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/q1.png 483w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/q1-300x153.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 483px) 100vw, 483px" /></p>
<p>After that, you have to heat around the display a bit, then use a paddle to create a gap between the display and the backplate. You can now separate the screen comfortably starting from the right side. Given that this phone features an in-display fingerprint reader instead of the classic back-mounted one, you won&#8217;t need to disconnect the fingerprint reader in order to completely separate the backplate from the rest of the phone. Once you are at this point, it will be a bit harder to disassemble the phone as there are several protections for water-resistance and heat dissipation.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-194531" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/q2.png?x10805" alt="vivo x21" width="471" height="242" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/q2.png 471w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/q2-300x154.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 471px) 100vw, 471px" /></p>
<p>You will need to disconnect the motherboard cables, open some graphite shields, then disconnect the screen cable. With all the cables and screws removed, it is possible to completely separate the motherboard from the handset. Then you will be able to remove the battery, the bottom module and the speaker. In the images, you can see all the most important components powering the device. Vivo X21 is equipped with a Snapdragon 660 SoC, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. Photos also show the dual camera module, as well as the 12 MP selfie camera and the 3200 mAh battery.</p>
