Lenovo has officially unveiled new Legion branded gaming products at the CES 2026 event. The new Legion Go 2 is its latest handheld gaming console that is powered by the SteamOS, while the Legion Pro Rollable is a bold concept gaming laptop with a horizontally expandable OLED display that redefines how screen size adapts for gaming and productivity. Lenovo Legion Go 2 Powered by SteamOS

The new Legion Go 2 brings Lenovo’s flagship handheld into the SteamOS ecosystem, offering gamers a console-like experience on the go with deep access to their Steam library and platform features. Powered by AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, this 8.8-inch portable delivers desktop-class capability in a handheld form. This chip is coupled with up to 32GB LPDDR5X RAM and 2TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage, which can be expanded further via microSD.

Its 8.8-inch PureSight OLED display features a WUXGA (1920×1200) resolution with 144 Hz refresh and rich HDR support, designed to make games and media look vibrant while maintaining smooth responsiveness. The SteamOS build lets players launch titles directly, manage cloud saves, use Steam Chat, and enjoy onboard game recording from a portable gaming rig.

Legion Go 2’s hardware also includes dual USB-C ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort support, a 3.5 mm combo jack, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and an ergonomic set of built-in controllers complete with true gaming buttons and sticks. These controllers are also removable, allowing you to get a more versatile gaming experience. Under the hood, a sizeable 74Wh battery pack powers the SteamOS variant of Legion Go 2, promising endurance for lengthy play sessions away from a desk. The new gaming handheld console is set to begin sales around June 2026, with pricing likely starting near $1,199 USD.

Lenovo Legion Pro Rollable Concept

The Legion Pro Rollable is a concept gaming laptop that imagines what immersive play could look like in a portable form factor. Starting with a conventional 16-inch Lenovo PureSight OLED panel, the screen can expand horizontally for a wider 21.5 inches in Tactical mode and the full 24 inches in Arena mode. This helps offer a more immersive gaming experience and also gives more screen real estate for productivity as well.

The horizontal rollable mechanism is driven by a dual-motor, tension-based design intended to minimize screen vibration and creasing. Lenovo based this concept rollable gaming laptop on its flagship Legion Pro 7i. So you get the latest Intel Core Ultra processors and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 mobile GPU. In other words, there’s enough horsepower for AAA gaming on a laptop with a wide display, which doesn’t compromise in portability either.

The Rollable also introduces advanced AI-driven gaming enhancements, such as adaptive lighting, resource optimization, and AI-based display features, which are integrated through Lenovo’s AI Engine+. This system is powered by the Lenovo LA Core that include tools like AI Frame Gaming Display features like AI Scam Detection, Cursor Tracking, AI Gaming Assistance, and Adaptive AI Lighting.

Though the Legion Pro Rollable remains a concept without confirmed release timing or pricing, it signals Lenovo’s intent to explore non-traditional form factors that let players and creators expand their digital workspace without needing multiple displays. We could be seeing the Chinese tech giant potentially kick start a new breed of portable gaming PCs.

Lenovo‘s Legion Go 2 has surfaced in yet another leak after its initial sighting. This time around, we get to see this handheld in action, taking on intensive titles and even outperforming some of its rivals. The benchmarks have revealed interesting performance metrics, so let’s check it out.

Lenovo’s Legion Go 2 Outpaces MSI Claw A8 in Benchmarks

In a video shared on YouTube (Via NotebookCheck), another Legion Go 2 prototype was seen running the Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The video showcases multiple handheld consoles running this game, which even includes the recently unveiled MSI Claw A8. Despite both handhelds running on the same Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU, the Legion Go 2 managed a higher average framerate of 49fps, over the Claw A8’s 44fps.

The built-in benchmark on the Shadow of the Tomb Raider was run at 1080p resolution. What’s more interesting is the fact that the Legion Go 2 outpacing the Claw A8 in the video was a prototype model. As of right now, the MSI Claw A8 is one of the more powerful gaming handhelds, so this paints a positive picture of what we can expect from Lenovo’s next gaming handheld generation.

The video further goes on to add that the Legion Go 2 might be offering better performance thanks to the additional 8GB of RAM and a better thermal dissipation system. While RAM might not have a big impact on performance after a certain capacity, heat management is can play quite a role in such a form factor. These devices are expected to run AAA titles in a portable body.

Earlier this year, Microsoft confirmed that it will be working with multiple partners on hardware to bring forth new Xbox powered gaming systems. This included a close collaboration with AMD sfor its next gen hardware for upcoming consoles, gaming handhelds, and more. While we already have the ROG Xbox Ally series from ASUS, a Lenovo collaboration could make sense as well.

Why Lenovo Makes Sense as Xbox’s Next Hardware Partner

Lenovo is one of the few players in the gaming handheld space, with its Legion Go series. The original Legion Go was a Windows based laptop, with more variants dropping soon after. It brought an 8.8-inch display, detachable controllers (similar to the Nintendo Switch 2), and a gamer-first design. Later on, the Chinese tech giant even partnered up with Valve for the SteamOS powered Legion Go S.

So, considering how they’ve already experimented with Steam, a new variant with special Xbox optimization sounds quite promising. The Legion Go already runs on the Windows platform, so a direct collab could make this system even better in running Xbox exclusives or Xbox Game Pass titles.

What an Xbox x Lenovo Handheld Might Look Like

If Lenovo were to partner with Xbox, the result could be a streamlined version of the Legion Go. Xbox’s design influence could help push for an interface that feels more like an extension of the console experience. A great example of this is the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. Lenovo’s handheld would benefit from deeper Game Pass integration, Xbox dashboard, and built-in Xbox Cloud Gaming out of the box.

Since Lenovo has already worked with Valve for the special SteamOS Legion Go S, I would like to believe that an Xbox version could also be in the works. Xbox has clearly shifted its focus from selling its consoles, which are declining in popularity, and has invested heavily in its Game Pass subscription service. Expanding on the software side and partnering with handheld console brands gives it the advantage over Sony, which has yet to expand into this segment.

First Look: Lenovo Legion Go 2 Prototype

Earlier this year, the Chinese tech giant unveiled the Legion Go S, a unique handheld that ran on Valve’s SteamOS (similar to the Steam Deck). However, this wasn’t a generational upgrade over the Legion Go. Lenovo was expected to be working on a next gen model with improved specs to rival the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X. However, details of this new gaming handheld were still scarce until now.

We got a full look at the Legion Go 2 via a prototype leak, which was shared on YouTube. Looking at this video, Lenovo is bringing updates to the design while retaining the detachable controllers. The 8.8-inch OLED screen also makes a return that offers 500 nits of peak brightness, 1200p resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, the prototype Legion Go 2 is equipped with AMD’s new Ryzen Z2. The video adds that this prototype was on sale in China’s second hand market. So this isn’t the final build of the Legion Go 2. But rumors hint that the commercial version could pack up to an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU. Unlike the Legion Go S, the Legion Go 2 still runs on the Windows platform, that likely brings special optimizations as well.

Lenovo has just unveiled the Legion Go S series of handheld gaming consoles. But as the portable gaming console market gets new entries every year, it’s harder for Lenovo to stand out. So let’s see what makes the Lenovo Legion Go series special.

Lenovo Legion Go S Series: Windows or SteamOS

The company expanded its gaming handheld lineup with three new models at CES 2025. This includes a Windows based model along with a special SteamOS powered version. But that’s not all, there was a prototype of a future high-performance model as well.

This makes the Legion Go S the first handheld outside of the Steam Deck to support SteamOS. While Windows is a popular platform for PCs, SteamOS is designed with gaming in mind. It was built to offer a console like experience and various quality of life features to streamline the experience.

These optimizations have enabled the Steam Deck running on SteamOS 3.0 to even offer higher gaming performance. So despite the compact form factor, it offers decent performance even in AAA games.

Specifications

On the front, the Legion Go S sports an 8-inch LCD display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits of peak brightness, touch support, 100% sRGB color gamut, and 1920 x 1200 resolution. Under the hood, this gaming handheld is equipped with up to an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme and Integrated AMD Radeon 700M series.

This processor is paired with up to 32GB of 6400MHz LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of PCIe SSD Gen4 storage. A sizeable 55.3Whr battery pack powers both the SteamOS and Windows models, which support 65W wired fast charging via USB Type C. For audio, gamers get a twin 2W integrated speaker along with an audio jack combo as well.

Other notable features include WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, one microSD card reader, two USB4 ports, and 740 grams in weight. Lenovo launched the Legion Go S in two color options, namely Glacier White (Windows) and Nebula Violet (SteamOS).

Pricing and Verdict

The Windows variant Lenovo Legion Go S was announced with a starting price tag of $729, with additional configurations expected to launch for around $599. On the other hand, the Lenovo Legion Go S powered by SteamOS is expected to launch for around $499, making it more affordable than the Windows options.

So it is in line with most handheld gaming consoles in the market right now in terms of both specs and pricing. But the SteamOS definitely makes it a handheld to look out for.

Lenovo released a number of accessories for the Legion Go handheld yesterday, which includes a USB-C charging dock, a carry case, joystick and joystick caps, a multi-device Bluetooth mini keyboard, and two curved monitors.

Legion Go USB-C Dock

The Legion Go USB-C dock offers a USB-C Power port (up to 100Wmax), 1G RJ45 port, full-function Type-C port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and an HDMI 2.0 port that supports up to 4K at 60Hz. The integrated Type-C cable is 230mm long.

This product is currently priced at US$58.79 on the official website.

Legion Go Charging Connector

This charging connector is designed to turn the Lenovo Legion Go’s detachable TrueStrike controllers into a single, chargeable controller. It has a built-in 10.55Wh (2850mAh) battery and can also replenish the battery life of the TrueStrike controller when connected to a USB Type-C cable. it is measured at 128.5×94.7×14.3 (mm) and it weighs 152.5g.

This accessory is expected to be available starting October 2024 starting at 59.99 €.

Legion Go Carry Case

It measures 320.9×148.2×108.9 (mm), which is large enough to hold the handheld, USB data cable, USB flash drive, power adapter, headphones, and other accessories. This case also features a clapboard to protect the screen.

It’s expected to be available starting January 2025 starting at 29.99 €.

Legion Go Joystick and Joystick Caps

The Legion Go Joystick and Joystick Caps are designed to offer more precise control in games. The extra grippy textured material enhances comfort and control during long gaming sessions.

The set includes replacement joysticks and joystick caps in three shapes: spherical, concave, and cylindrical. Each of them includes a pair of products in four colors: Eclipse Black, Glacier White, Luna Grey, and Lenovo Red.

The Legion Go Joystick and Joystick Caps are expected to be available starting October 2024 starting at 9.99 €.

Multi-Device Bluetooth Mini Keyboard

This keyboard is the perfect complement to the Lenovo Legion Go as a 75% layout, super light 180g keyboard, which is only 5.6mm thick. It can easily switch between up to three devices with multi-device connection and supports Microsoft Windows, Android, and iPadOS.

This multi-device keyboard is expected to be available starting November 2024 starting at 39.99 €.

Legion R27qc-30 and Lenovo Legion R32qc-30 Monitors

Legion Go owners now have two new display options – the 27-inch Lenovo Legion R27qc-30 and the 31.5-inch Lenovo Legion R32qc-30. The 27-inch monitor supports 120% sRGB and 90% DCI-P3 and the 31.5-inch supports 112% sRGB.

Both monitors feature an up to 180Hz refresh rate and 0.5ms (MPRT) response times in their 1500R curved displays. Speaking of connectivity, both monitors come with two HDMI 2.1 ports, a single DP1.4 port, and an audio out, as well as a pair of 3W speakers.

Both the 27-inch and 31.5-inch monitors are expected to be available starting October 2024 with price tags of 259 € and 349 € respectively.

Lenovo has hinted that it will release a new Legon Go gaming handle in the near future. The information comes from the company’s official website. It is expected to be a relatively compact device with a 7″ screen.

The company’s Legion Go handheld was proved to be a decent alternative to mainstream options such as ASUS’s ROG Ally X. The company revealed that they have plans to expand the Legion Go handheld lineup, possibly with a more compact model.

The recently updated description of the Legion Go handhelds (from the company) now states that the handhelds come “with a 7-inch or 8-inch display”, that offers a compact yet immersive visual experience for both gaming and multimedia content. It suggests that the company is working on a “trimmed-down” version of the original model. For those unfamiliar, the currently available model comes with an 8.8-inch display.

Apart from this, the description also claims that the device has an HDMI port onboard, along with a dual fan cooling system, which is not available in the current model.

Unfortunately, there is no information about the specifications of the new Legion Go handheld yet. However, as Lenovo plans to offer the upcoming handheld as a configuration of the product already available, they may not upgrade the processor and other internals.

The original Legion Go handheld equips an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme with RDNA Graphics, which is paired with 16GB LPDDR5X (onboard) that reaches a frequency of 7500Mhz. For storage, the device packs up to 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD. There is a 2-cell 49.2WHr battery on the device and an additional 900 mAh battery inside the controller.

For wired connectivity, the currently available Legion Go comes with a USB-C 4.0 port, that supports DisplayPort 1.4, and Power Delivery 3.0. For wireless connectivity, it supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1.

Handheld gaming consoles have become quite popular in recent years. There are many great options like the Nintendo Switch and the Steam Deck. But in India, gaming handhelds are mostly restricted to the gray market. So far, the ASUS ROG Ally is one of the few portable consoles that is sold in the market. Although, Lenovo is gearing up to release its own alternative. But how does the Lenovo Legion Go stack up against the ASUS ROG Ally? Let’s find out.

Lenovo Legion Go vs ASUS ROG Ally: Legion packs a taller screen

ASUS released the ROG Ally with a 7-inch IPS LCD panel with a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and a 16:10 aspect ratio. This panel offers a 120Hz refresh rate, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for protection, along with a variable refresh rate and low frame compensation support as well.

But while these are decent specs, Lenovo sought to bring a better visual experience on its own handheld console. The Legion Go sports a taller 8.8-inch IPS touchscreen display that has a WQXGA resolution (2560×1600 pixels). So you get sharper resolution along with a smoother 144Hz refresh rate panel and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection.

Performance, Battery, & More

In terms of performance, both gaming handhelds are quite evenly matched, at least on paper. The Legion Go and ROG Ally are equipped with AMD’s Ryzen Z1 series processors. The former has the Ryzen Z1 Extreme while the latter is available in Ryzen Z1 and Z1 Extreme options. Lenovo pairs this chipset with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage. You also get an option to expand the storage via a microSD card slot.

On the other hand, the ROG Ally packs 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM but only 512GB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD storage. These two models run on the Windows 11 OS out of the box. But another area where the Legion Go edges ahead of the ROG Ally is the battery. ASUS’ console is powered by a 40Wh battery that supports 65W charging. Meanwhile, a 49.2Wh cell runs the Legion Go with Super Rapid Charge support. But this difference shouldn’t impact battery life much considering the larger screen and higher resolution.

Since handheld consoles were built to be portable the weight also factors into the overall experience. Having said that, the ROG Ally weighs 608 grams, which is noticeably lighter than the massive Legion Go. Lenovo’s handheld weighs a hefty 856 grams, so let’s just say you’re getting a light workout.

Pricing

The pricing is another major aspect that could determine if the Legion Go is a good alternative to the ROG Ally. ASUS released its portable console for 69,990 INR or about 853 US Dollars for the Z1 Extreme variant (base Z1 costs 64,990 INR). The Legion Go will be announced in India for the first time on 1st July 2024, with its pricing set at 89,990 INR (roughly 1,079 US Dollars). With such similar specs, it seems hard to justify paying an additional 200 US Dollar premium for a slightly larger screen. The higher resolution is welcomed too, but not many graphically intensive games can take advantage of it. We can expect special launch offers and other sweet deals, so stick around for more updates.

The Lenovo Legion Go will be available for purchase starting July 1st in India. Close to completing a year since its launch last September, the Lenovo Legion Go (review) is all set to arrive in the Indian market. The brand officially announced the launch date of the handheld console in the country in a press note. Lenovo has also put up a microsite of the device on its official website revealing its key specifications which are the same as the global variant. The Lenovo Legion Go will compete against the likes of the ASUS ROG Ally and MSI Claw A1M in India. 

Lenovo Legion Go set to arrive in India next week

Lenovo has confirmed that the Legion Go will be introduced in India on June 27, Thursday. It will come with three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The company does not divulge into any additional details regarding the handheld console’s availability. We should learn more about it next week. In Europe, the Lenovo Legion Go starts at EUR 799 (~Rs 71,604). We can expect it to be priced similarly in India. To jog your memory, the ASUS ROG Ally was launched at Rs 69,990 whereas the MSI Claw A1M starts at Rs 88,890.

The Legion Go Lite is reportedly featuring the same AMD Ryzen Z1 series processor. It will come with several improvements over its predecessor, drawing a parallel with ROG Ally X.

There are no clear-cut improvement parameters stated for the new Lenovo Legion Go Lite. It is expected to be lighter than its predecessor and smaller also. Lenovo launched the Legion Go Windows handheld gaming device towards the end of last year for around $700. It offered an 8.8″ 144Hz QHD display powered by the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor. Now the company is reported to be working on an iteration of the device. Lenovo’s Asia Pacific gaming category manager Clifford Chong mentioned in a recent interview that the next generation of Lenovo’s handheld gaming console is in the works.

Lenovo is spending significant resources to improve its gaming console

After Lenovo Innovate 24, the official informed that Lenovo is spending significant resources to improve the current Legion Go. Of course, it wasn’t quite as good as the Steam Deck which was launched a year earlier. “From day one to now, we’ve unlocked more experiences and are still working hard to bring the next wave of features to the product,” noted Clifford Chong.

Lenovo sees the potential of the handheld gaming console product category and is looking forward to launching the next generation of products with even richer functionality.

The other two major competitors of the company in the handheld gaming console market are ASUS and MSI. Both companies are known to be working on their iteration. ASUS will launch the ROG Ally 2 this year. There’s enough incentive for Lenovo to invest in R&D of its next-generation Windows handheld gaming console.

Speaking of the current generation Legion Go handheld console, it weighs 1.88lbs (852 grams). For reference, the ROG Ally weighs 1.34 lbs (608 grams). Lenovo’s first generation gaming console equips a 49Whr battery and runs on Windows 11. The 2560x x1600 screen goes up to 500 nits peak brightness and equips 97% DCI-P3 color gamut rating. As The Verge noted, it could also be considered as a tool for browsing, reading, and streaming videos.

Reliable video game journalist and industry insider Rishi Alwani shared a screenshot of a conversation on Instagram between Lenovo Legion India’s customer support and an X user. The later enquired the brand about the availability of the Legion Go handheld gaming console in India. The company responded that ‘The Legion Go laptop is expected to launch in March 2024’.  It’s worth noting that customer support referred to Legion Go as a laptop. Hence, it remains unclear if it’s a mistake on their part or a different product. It’s unlikely that Lenovo may launch two different products with the same Legion Go moniker. 

If the Lenovo Legion Go’s availability timeline in India indeed turns out to be true, then it’s just a matter of three months. Notably, it is also listed on the company’s official website in the country under its Legion laptops. However, Lenovo’s plans may also change. Hence, it is advisable to take this report with a healthy grain of salt.

Lenovo claims that the device can charge to 70 percent in just 30 minutes thanks to its 65W fast charging support. Notably, the individual controllers also house a 900mAh battery pack.

The Legion Go has a max TGP of 25W. You can enable this by heading using Custom Mode in the Legion Space software. On the other hand, Quiet Mode lowers the TGP significantly and even limits the fan noise of the device to just 25 decibels. Other notable features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot for memory expansion, and two USB-Type C ports.

Lenovo Legion Go: Pricing & Availability

The Chinese tech giant’s gaming handheld has a starting price tag of 699 US Dollars. However, the brand hasn’t revealed the pricing for any of the other storage configurations. The publication has obtained the confidential document from a trusted source. 

As per the report, the Lenovo Legion Go is set to launch later this week, more precisely on September 1. It will be announced at the upcoming IFA 2023 in Berlin which begins this Friday. The handheld gaming device will reportedly be priced at EUR 799 and will be available for purchase in October. 

Coming to the core specifications, the Lenovo Legion Go is set to feature a large 8.8-inch IPS touch-enabled display bearing a QHD+ resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 500 nits peak brightness, and a 97 percent DCI-P3 color gamut. As per leaked renders, it will come with detachable controllers just like the Switch. It has two analog sticks, a D-Pad, four buttons (A, B, X, and Y), and a touchpad. The back side also seems to feature a scroll wheel and four additional buttons. The device will be equipped with dual 2W speakers and dual near-field microphones.

Lenovo has been rumored to be working on Lenovo Go, its new gaming handheld console for some time. But now the initial images of the device have finally surfaced online. While Lenovo has dabbled with handheld prototypes before, this might just be their debut of a top-notch handheld gaming device that’s ready for the market.

Lenovo Go Rumored Specifications

Leaked images of the Lenovo Go handheld device show a striking resemblance to the Nintendo Switch OLED. Specifically, the robust kickstand on the back is reminiscent of Nintendo’s console, and the detachable controllers are undeniably similar to the Switch’s Joy-Cons. 

The button layout on the alleged handheld seems fairly conventional, with two analog sticks, a D-Pad, four buttons (A, B, X, and Y), and a touchpad. But there is also a wheel on the back of the right controller. The Lenovo Go is expected to come with Windows 11, so this wheel could be helpful for scrolling while browsing.

Since the controllers are detachable, it’s likely that the screen is a touchscreen. However, there is no information about the display type or its refresh rate. Windows Report suggests that it will be an 8-inch screen. If this is true, the Lenovo Go would have a slight size advantage over its competitors, such as the Steam Deck, Asus ROG Alley, and the Switch OLED, which all have 7-inch displays.

Likewise, the device is likely to be powered by the AMD Ryzen Z1 APU. This processor is also used in the ASUS ROG Ally, but it is unclear if the Legion Go will get the Z1 Extreme or just the Z1 APU. The Z1 Extreme is a more powerful processor, but the Z1 APU is more energy-efficient, which is important for a handheld device. Besides, the Legion Go also has a large vent on the rear of the device, which is likely for maintaining thermals.

Last but not least, connectivity options on the device might include two USB-C ports (one on the top and one on the bottom), as well as a microSD card slot, and a headphone jack.

This month, reports surfaced about Lenovo‘s development of a novel Windows-powered portable gaming device dubbed the Lenovo Legion Go. This device is anticipated to rival the recently launched Asus ROG Ally and the Valve Steam Deck, both of which have contributed to the surge in popularity of handheld consoles capable of running PC games.

Now, a new report from Windowsreport reveals the design of the Legion Go’s console. The overall design of the console is quite generic, however, the console borrows the best aspects from its competitors. It has an Xbox-style controller setup that’s also present on the ROG Ally. And like the Steam Deck, it also has a trackpad onboard.

It also comes with detachable controllers like the ones on the Nintendo Switch. On the Switch, the detachable function is helpful as it allows users to play games with a friend or family member without having to buy an extra controller. You can detach the Joy-Cons from the console and use them as two separate controllers. We expect the Legion Go to offer similar functionality.

With that said, the report indicates that the gaming console boasts an 8-inch screen, anticipated to be a Full HD display. The rear side of the console is equipped with several triggers, a right controller wheel, and a substantial air vent designed for cooling purposes. In terms of connectivity, the images unveil dual USB-C ports, a power button, a headphone jack, volume adjustment buttons marked with plus and minus symbols, as well as a micro-SD slot.

For now, no details regarding the specifications of the device have been revealed, but we expect to hear more about it in the coming days.
