<p>According to a <a href="https://www.caixinglobal.com/2020-09-16/xiaomi-vice-chairman-promises-not-sell-more-stock-after-selling-over-1-billion-in-company-shares-101606065.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>CaixinGlobal</em></a> report, the company recently sold shares to cash in on the surging stock price of its share&#8217;s value. It reported sales of HK$7.89 billion (roughly 1.02 billion US Dollars) through 350 million Class B shares of the company. The senior official sold shares at HK$22.55 each or about 3 US Dollars, which was a 4.23 percent discount on the company&#8217;s Monday closing price.</p>

<p>At the moment, Lin Bin holds about 2.4 billion shares or 9.64 percent of Xiaomi&#8217;s capital stock, which also makes him the second largest individual shareholder. In recent times, the company&#8217;s share prices have soared by almost 30 percent after it reported on an impressive growth in net profits year on year in its latest financial report.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-314746 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Mi-Logo.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi" width="746" height="472" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Mi-Logo.jpg 746w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Mi-Logo-300x190.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Mi-Logo-696x440.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Mi-Logo-664x420.jpg 664w" sizes="(max-width: 746px) 100vw, 746px" /></p>
<p>Back in August 2019, the senior executive had sold over 41 million Xiaomi shares for three days straight. This brought in HK$373 million, which had shaken the market confidence and saw the downfall of the company&#8217;s share value. So to avoid the same trend from recurring, Lin Bin promised not to sell any Xiaomi shares for a year.</p>

The eight founders include Lei Jun, Lin Bin, Li Wanqiang, Zhou Guangping, Huang Jiangji, Liu De, Hong Feng and Wang Chuan. Among them, Li Wanqiang, Zhou Guangping and Huang Jiangji have all resigned from Xiaomi. There are speculations that Lin Bin who current serves as vice-chairman and president of the Mobile Phone department may be planning to resign from the Chinese giant soon. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/xiaomi-logo.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-327287" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/xiaomi-logo.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="600" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/xiaomi-logo.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/xiaomi-logo-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/xiaomi-logo-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/xiaomi-logo-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/xiaomi-logo-560x420.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>According to reports, Lin Bin has successively resigned from the positions he held at some of Xiaomi&#8217;s subsidiaries. This is seen as a sign that he would resign from the conglomerate soon.</p>
<p>Since the beginning of this year, Lin Bin has reportedly stepped down as the legal representative of several Xiaomi companies, including Xiaomi Youpin Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Xiaomi Electronic Products Co., Ltd., Beijing Xiaomi Software Technology Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Xiaomi Information Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Xiaomi Software Technology Co., Ltd.</p>
<p>Xiaomi has however responded that speculations about Lin Bin’s resignation are unfounded. The response suggests changes in industry and commerce are normal which suggests the co-founder have just shed some portfolios to allow the company reposition for efficiency.</p>
<p>However, we cannot rule out the possibility of some internal wrangling at the Beijing-based company. It is worth mentioning that Li Wanqiang, who officially left Xiaomi on November 29 last year and is known as the &#8220;father of marketing&#8221; at Xiaomi, has also recently resigned from other positions at Xiaomi&#8217;s subsidiaries, including the director of Xiaomi Pictures Co., Ltd. and Beijing Xiaomi Software Technology Co., Ltd. He also resigned as a supervisor and legal representative of Xiaomi Technology Co., Ltd, supervisor of Beijing Xiaomi Electronic Products Co., Ltd., supervisor of Beijing Xiaomi Electronic Software Technology Co., Ltd., among others.</p>
<p>In the past two years, Xiaomi has successively introduced a number of executives from the outside, including former Gionee President Lu Weibing, former Lenovo Group Vice President Chang Cheng, and Red Pepper mobile phone founder Wang Xiaoyan. Other new execs includes former Nubian co-founder Miao Lei, former Storm TV CEO Liu Yaoping and former senior vice president of Meizu Technology Yang Zhe.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/xiaomi/">Xiaomi</a> haven&#8217;t exactly been around for a long time, but they&#8217;re still one of the only Chinese companies to see such monumental growth in such a short time. Xiaomi&#8217;s Lin Bin was interviewed earlier today after the launch of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/05/xiaomi-mi-cc9-pro-debuts-with-108mp-penta-lens-sd730g-curved-display-and-5260mah-battery-for-2799-yuan/">Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro</a>, and he reveals details about the structural changes within Xiaomi in the recent years.</p>
<p>First of all Lin Bin is apparently not too happy with being out and about for the company. This is also the first time that Lin Bin has been interviewed by the media <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/11/07/xiaomis-lei-jun-i-didnt-vote-in-favor-for-the-companys-ipo-plans-to-release-5g-phones-in-march-april-2019/">since Xiaomi’s IPO</a>. He said that after the listing of Xiaomi, he experienced <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/19/xiaomi-smartphone-business-gets-further-restructuring-to-enhance-its-operations/">a series of organizational restructuring</a>, which has led him to focus more on internal tech development.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-287802" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/lin-bin.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="720" height="480" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/lin-bin.jpg 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/lin-bin-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/lin-bin-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/lin-bin-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></p>
<p>He claims he much prefers being inside the company helping develop new products and technology, but was asked to represent Xiaomi for the product launch. He then goes on to talk about the inner changes that have happened to the company, including the formation of the camera department and expansion of the R&amp;D team.</p>
<p>While the company only had about 400 workers in R&amp;D before 2016, now they&#8217;ve added more than 3700 workers to the R&amp;D team. On top of this, the company has also opened up R&amp;D centers in places like Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai and Bangalore. The biggest change has been the conception of Xiaomi&#8217;s own camera department, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/05/xiaomi-mi-cc9-pro-scores-121-on-dxomark-ties-for-highest-score-with-mate-30-pro/">which now has bore fruit.</a></p>
<p>In May 2018, Lei Jun sent an internal letter to Xiaomi employees. In this letter, he said that Xiaomi will set up a separate camera department in the mobile phone department, and it will concentrate on using the company&#8217;s resources to produce better phone cameras. He then appointed Zhu Dan as the general manager of the camera department.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-287653" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Mi-CC9-Pro_.png?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro_" width="1106" height="659" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Mi-CC9-Pro_.png 1106w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Mi-CC9-Pro_-300x179.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Mi-CC9-Pro_-768x458.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Mi-CC9-Pro_-1024x610.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Mi-CC9-Pro_-696x415.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Mi-CC9-Pro_-1068x636.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Mi-CC9-Pro_-705x420.png 705w" sizes="(max-width: 1106px) 100vw, 1106px" /></p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>EDITOR’S PICK: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/05/xiaomi-mi-watch-launched-wearos-miui-large-battery/">Xiaomi Mi Watch launched with WearOS &amp; a very large Battery</a></strong></h6>
<p>Lin Bin also revealed that Xiaomi MIX Alpha was a very radical attempt to change things up  even from inside Xiaomi. He had almost given up on it, when the R&amp;D teams managed to produce a working unit. &#8220;I have confidence in Xiaomi&#8217;s research and development, and at the same time, it is more responsible for young people, such as Lu Weibing of Redmi, Wei Siqi of CC series, etc.&#8221; Lin Bin said.</p>
<p>In the latest organizational restructuring, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/25/xiaomi-corp-officially-appoints-lin-bin-as-vice-chairman-among-other-changes/">Lin Bin was appointed as the vice chairman</a> and will continue to serve as executive director and president of the company, responsible for managing the company&#8217;s mobile phone R&amp;D department. This is also a continuation of the organizational restructuring after the listing of Xiaomi.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-287803" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Logo-1.png?x44794" alt="" width="1054" height="918" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Logo-1.png 1054w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Logo-1-300x261.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Logo-1-768x669.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Logo-1-1024x892.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Logo-1-696x606.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Logo-1-482x420.png 482w" sizes="(max-width: 1054px) 100vw, 1054px" /></p>
<p>“After the listing of Xiaomi, the organization structure has been continuously adjusted, and it has also moved to the new park. Up to now, these adjustments have basically ended.” Lin Bin claimed. According to him, Xiaomi’s work style has changed from before, and Xiaomi pays more attention to technology trends and changes.</p>
<p>He then goes on to talk about the recently launched Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro. “It’s harder to make a camera than to make a mobile phone.” According to him, although the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/05/xiaomi-mi-cc9-pro-scores-121-on-dxomark-ties-for-highest-score-with-mate-30-pro/">Mi CC9 Pro managed to tie with the Huawei Mate 30 Pro over on DxOmark</a>, Lin Bin says they could&#8217;ve boosted the score higher if they had two to three more weeks to work on it.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-287629" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/mi-cc9-pro-dxomark.png?x44794" alt="" width="868" height="497" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/mi-cc9-pro-dxomark.png 868w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/mi-cc9-pro-dxomark-300x172.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/mi-cc9-pro-dxomark-768x440.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/mi-cc9-pro-dxomark-696x399.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/mi-cc9-pro-dxomark-734x420.png 734w" sizes="(max-width: 868px) 100vw, 868px" /></p>
<p>Lin Bin revealed that Xiaomi set up a core device department in 2016, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/11/xiaomi-camera-department-set-for-leaps-and-bounds-with-new-technologies-in-2019-lei-jun/">including the camera team.</a> In May 2018, the camera team then expanded and became more independent, experimenting with integrated software, algorithms and other teams. At present, the camera department has 9 R&amp;D centers around the world.</p>
<p>Ending the interview off, Lin Bin hints that Xiaomi have a lot more &#8220;secret projects&#8221; in the works that will be launched next year, and that they&#8217;re going to be very exciting. He also states his hopes that the camera and imaging systems next year will be even better than what we&#8217;ve seen with Mi CC9 Pro, which is absolutely insane.</p>

There are indications that the tech giant will also announce another product during the launch event next week. This was indicated by Xiaomi president Lin Bin in a recent Weibo post. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/mi-lin-bin.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-148291" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/mi-lin-bin.png?x44794" alt="xiaomi" width="597" height="294" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/mi-lin-bin.png 597w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/mi-lin-bin-300x148.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 597px) 100vw, 597px" /></a></p>
<p>This really shouldn&#8217;t come as much of a surprise considering that Xiaomi launched the Mi Mix last year along with the Mi Note 2 which was actually the expected product. But the Mi Mix came out as a concept phone and indeed it stole the show. The rest is now history as the industry now seems to have been revolutionized by bezel-less full-screen phones. The Xiaomi henchman did not disclose the product that would be launched but we ordinarily would expect the Mi Note 3 to be the product the tech giant will announce. The Mi Note 3 has also been a regular in leaks before now. However, there are also rumors that Xiaomi will launch a Mi Notebook Air laptop with a larger 15.6-inch display size. We really can&#8217;t say for sure because the company has not disclosed anything in that regard.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/xiaomi-mi-mix-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-147738" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/xiaomi-mi-mix-2.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi Mix 2" width="690" height="388" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/xiaomi-mi-mix-2.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/xiaomi-mi-mix-2-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>

<p>There are also rumors that Xiaomi will launch a Mi Notebook Air laptop with a larger 15.6-inch display size. The laptop was purportedly spotted to have received 3C certification earlier on. We really can&#8217;t say for sure because the company has not disclosed anything in that regard. We wouldn&#8217;t have to wait for long to find out what the product actually is, though. Meanwhile, Xiaomi also shared another teaser for the Mi Mix 2 and it is yet again just another teaser. We couldn&#8217;t make anything out of the video as per the design features because the clip was shot in a rapid manner so that you can&#8217;t grab the real photo of the device. You can check it out yourself from down below.</p>

The reason is because of the difficulty posed by the production of its ceramic body.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-104789 size-full" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Lin-Bin.jpg?x44794" alt="Lin Bin" width="610" height="407" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Lin-Bin.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Lin-Bin-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The President of Xiaomi, Lin Bin, said in a press statement that they are facing difficulties in the firing process involved in the production process. In his words, if they set out to make 100 units, only about 5% of the ceramic bodies made passes quality tests. Mr. Lin Bin says there are still no solutions yet and he doesn&#8217;t think the numbers produced will increase in the next couple of months.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-104372 size-full" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/xiaomi-mix-hands-on-10.jpg?x44794" alt="Mi Mix" width="600" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/xiaomi-mix-hands-on-10.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/xiaomi-mix-hands-on-10-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/xiaomi-mix-hands-on-10-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Part of his press statement addressed the allegation of the Mi Mix being a rip off of the Sharp Aquos Crystal. The Mi Mix, according to the president, is a lot different from the Aquos Crystal. Both phones are made from different materials, ceramic for the Mix and plastic for the Crystal. They also sport different hardware configurations and the Mix wins in the screen to body ratio: 91.3% as against the Crystal&#8217;s 82.1%. Let&#8217;s also not forget that Sharp supplied the display, so if it is not an issue for them&#8230;&#8230;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">The Mi Mix will go on sale on the 4th of November. It features a 6.4&#8221; display, 6GB of RAM, 128GB/256GB of storage, 16MP primary camera, 5MP front facing shooter, and a 4400mAh battery.</p>

We still don&#8217;t have any new details about the device but last night Xiaomi&#8217;s co-founder, Lin Bin, sort of confirmed the device does exist.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">A post on his Weibo account at an event yesterday revealed that the device used to  make the post is no other than the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus. This is the first genuine proof of the phone&#8217;s existence.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-99530 size-full" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/mi-5-plus-weibo.png?x44794" alt="Mi 5s Plus Weibo" width="593" height="469" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/mi-5-plus-weibo.png 593w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/mi-5-plus-weibo-300x237.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 593px) 100vw, 593px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Following last week&#8217;s first mention of the Mi 5s Plus, an image of what is presumed to be that of the phone was posted by a Xiaomi engineer, Zhu Dan. The phone has its camera and sensor positioned in the middle instead of the top left corner like we have it on the Mi 5. Mr. Dan has however deleted the post.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">The Mi 5s Plus is expected to feature a 5.7&#8221; dual-curve display, a snapdragon 821 SoC, 6GB of RAM, and may cost 2999 Yuan.</p>
