Xiaomi has started pushing MIUI 10 v8.12.26 beta update based on Android 9.0 Pie for Xiaomi Mi Max 3 in China. It’s good news for the Mi Max 3 owners, as they can now expect the stable update of the same in the next coming days or weeks. Usually, it takes a few weeks to test the beta build and refine it into the stable OS experience. This newly launched Xiaomi device is among a few products which are receiving Android 9.0 Pie update in China.

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 beta users opted for the update in late October. Now, the update has started to roll out on the devices of the registered users. The latest update brings various new features along with usual bug fixes and performance tweaks. It will also improve the functionality of the device by incorporating new enhancements. Mainly, Xiaomi Mi Max 3 users will get features such as full-screen gestures, Digital wellbeing, new notification options, new sounds and much more.

In order to successfully update the to the beta build, make sure to install the latest stable update via OTA before flashing the beta upgrade. Even, you need to uninstall Google Play app before flashing the new ROM. After successful installation, users can again reinstall the Google Play app. If you don’t follow these precautions, then your device can get stuck into the boot loop due to bad bugs.

It will take some weeks to reach the final stable version of the ROM. Right now, the beta build appears to be unstable with several bugs, and we hope in the future alterations Xiaomi will rectify them soon.

Additionally, Xiaomi Mi Max 3 carries a 6.3-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC coupled with either 4GB or 6GB RAM. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 carries 128GB and 64 GB of internal storage variants. In camera, there’s a 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual rear camera shooter with AI. On the front side, you will get an 8-megapixel sensor with an LED light for selfies. It carries AI portrait modem, AI beautify and Face unlock features.

Xiaomi has finally pulled off the chords and has teased the Mi Max 3 for the launch in India. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is the manufacturer’s largest phone with the 6.9-inch of immersive display and gigantic 5500 mAh battery on the back. It is quite big than the Mi Max 2 and the Mi Max debut variant which was launched with 6.44 inches display and 4850 mAh battery couple of years ago.

A recent tweet from the Xiaomi hints that the Mi Max 3 is on its way to India. Well, Xiaomi has not clearly stated that the launch is happening in India but has given a hint. It is expected to arrive in India with the price range of Rs 20000 (~Yuan 1893 /$275).

Additionally, Xiaomi Mi Max 3 features a 6.9 inch of immersive full screen display with 2160×1080 full HD resolution having an aspect ratio of 18:9. Further, in the performance department, Xiaomi has added a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC with all cores clocked at 1.8GHz. There’s a Adreno 509 Graphics processor to handle day-to-day graphics intensive tasks. It is available in 4GB RAM variant with Dual channel LPDDR4x, eMMC 5.1 64 GB internal storage.

In camera department, Xiaomi has integrated the AI support with the 12 megapixel + 5 megapixel dual camera with f/1.9 aperture on the rear side. On the front side there’s a 8MP camera having a 1.12μm pixels with f/2.0 aperture. It also carries AI based features such as AI Portrait mode, AI beautify and face unlock. It can produce videos of 1080p resolution at 30fps, slow mo video support is also present at 120-fps with 720p resolution.

It’s quite possible that there is just one processor version of the Mi Max 3 with Snapdragon 636 inside. This particular model has been detailed in the most recent teaser revealed by the company president Lin Bin, thereby confirming its key specs.

So, the confirmed Mi Max 3 specs are as follows:

Further, according to these case renders, the phablet will feature an IR port as well. Recently, Xiaomi seems to have skipped this particular feature from some of its recent smartphones, so it’s worth mentioning that the Mi Max 3 is likely going have it.

While Xiaomi is yet to officially announce a price tag for the Mi Max 3, it has confirmed that it will be under 2000 Yuan (~$300). This is likely for the highest end model, i.e. 6GB+128GB edition, which would be a pretty good deal!

To recall, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 was launched in two models like 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage with respective pricing of 1,699 Yuan (~$253) and 1,999 Yuan (~$298). So, the company seems to be aiming for a similar pricing strategy this year as well.

But this year, for this price, there will be big upgrades as compared to its predecessor like in the processor department (SD636 vs 625), display (6.9 vs 6.4), battery (5500 vs 5300mAh), and even the cameras (12+5 dual cams vs 12MP single cam).

Xiaomi is soon expected to launch Mi Max 3, a successor of its Mi Max 2 phablet. Previously, we reported that the phone could come with a massive 7-inch full-screen display. Now it seems that the massive tablet-like display has been confirmed.

The Mi Max 3’s specification sheet has emerged online through Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, which also reveals that the phone will feature a massive 6.99-inch full-screen design with 18:9 aspect ratio. Xiaomi jumped the full-screen bandwagon last month with the launch of its Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus.

Other specifications of the Mi Max 3 include a 12-megapixel rear camera sensor and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for taking selfies and making video calls. However, the leaked design of the phone reveals that there will be a dual-camera setup at the back.

There will be two variants based on the memory configuration — 3GB RAM with 64GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 128GB internal storage. The phone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 635 processor. However, there’s another report that suggests that the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor.

The Snapdragon 635 processor from Qualcomm is believed to be the successor of Snapdragon 625 processor, and is manufactured with 14 nm process technology and will feature an octa-core Kryo processor. The GPU on the chipset is also expected to be 20 percent more powerful as compared to its predecessor.

The Mi Max 3 is said to be fuelled by a 5,500mAh battery, which will also support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology as well as reverse charging. While there are no details available about the software used, we are expecting the phablet to run Android Nougat based MIUI 9.

The latest leak suggests that the phone will be launched in June this year. As of the pricing, the phone will start retailing at 1,699 Yuan, which roughly converts to $264.
