Nintendo Switch 2 is undoubtedly one of the products we’ve heard the most about lately. As the release date for the Japanese gaming giant’s eagerly anticipated second-generation handheld approaches, the number of leaks about it is also increasing. For example, we recently told you that Switch 2 could be more powerful than the Xbox Series S and would have DLSS technology. Now, the latest Nintendo Switch 2 rumors suggest a possible March 2024 event, sparking speculation about whether it’s a teaser, announcement, reveal, or release date. Here are the details…

Nintendo Switch 2 Release Date Could Be March 2024, But Is It a Teaser or a Reveal?

First of all, it is important to note that there is no official information about the release date of the Nintendo Switch 2. However, there have been some rumors and leaks. For example, it has been said that the console will be released in the first six months of 2024. However, there has been no concrete date. Fortunately, the latest leaks have changed that. According to the Nate the Hate podcast, which also features ModernVintageGamer, the handheld could be released as early as March 2024.

However, a report from Notebookcheck suggests that this may not be good news. The original Nintendo Switch was first teased under the codename “NX” in the spring of 2016. The official announcement followed in October of the same year, with additional details like price and specs landing in January 2017. Finally, the console saw its global release in March 2017. This suggests that what we might see in March 2024 could be a teaser for a console that won’t be released until months later. In fact, it could even launch in March 2025.

So, if we want to see the Switch 2 in March 2024, Nintendo will need to show something soon. Fortunately, there is a chance of this happening. One of the biggest gaming events in the world, Tokyo Game Show, will be held in September. Nintendo’s participation in the event is very important for one of the announcements mentioned above.

If the company shows the Switch 2 here, March 2024 could really be the release date. Of course, what I am saying now is just a guess based on the past. However, let us not forget that Nintendo is a Japanese company that is very attached to its traditions. This gives our guesses a very good chance. Still, we have no choice but to wait for now to learn all the truths.

Rumors about the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 are still circulating. For example we recently reported that the upcoming handheld was shown to a select group of press at Gamescom 2023. However, at the time, this was just an allegation. Now, these leaks have been confirmed. Moreover, not only was the Nintendo Switch 2 shown, but also a special version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, released in 2017. Here are the details…

Nintendo is closer to launching a Switch 2 than you think

Eurogamer reported that developer presentations for Nintendo Switch 2 took place at Gamescom 2023. Partners were shown tech demos of how well the system is designed to run. One of the demos was The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a launch title for the Nintendo Switch. The 2017 version of the game was already very successful and ran at 60 FPS on the console. It is unclear why Nintendo decided to remake the game.

Switch 2 demo is a souped-up version of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which runs at a higher quality than the original Switch. This shows that the Switch 2 will be much more powerful than its predecessor. Many people thought that the tech demo was a remastered version of Breath of the Wild coming with the Switch 2. However, it is important to remember that this is just a tech demo, and there is no indication that the game will be re-released. The real issue is that the Switch 2 is ready to play games, which suggests that the console’s announcement is imminent.

Nintendo has yet to publicly discuss plans for its inevitable Switch successor, though its new hardware is widely expected to launch at some point in 2024. Publicly, the company has announced a strong line-up of games to see the current Switch through the rest of 2023 and into the start of next year, with the impressive-looking Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a Super Mario RPG remake and a new WarioWare all coming this side of Christmas.

The competition in the handheld gaming console market is getting stronger every day. Almost every day, another manufacturer is moving into this space, trying to get a share of the market that is currently dominated by Nintendo Switch. For instance, we recently shared that Lenovo was working on a new handheld device called Legion Go. It seems the increasing competition has not just caught our attention but Nintendo’s as well.

According to emerging information, Nintendo is speeding up its work on the Switch 2 to stay strong in the competition, and plans to introduce the new generation handheld console in the second half of 2024. The new model, known to be backward compatible with older games, will be missing a key feature that the company had introduced a while ago. Here are the details…

Nintendo Switch 2: What We Know So Far

According to information obtained by Video Games Chronicle, Nintendo will introduce the Switch 2 in the second quarter of 2024. It’s said that the reason the company is waiting so long is because it doesn’t want to be affected by the chip crisis that occurred during the pandemic. As you know, both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X were released during this time, and it became a real struggle for customers to buy these consoles. In fact, the market was dominated by “opportunists” for a long time, and scalping was very popular until recently.

However, not all developments may please users. As you know, Nintendo introduced the OLED version of the Switch in 2021. This version, which isn’t very different from the original product in terms of technical features, was preferred by many users due to its superior screen. But the latest information shows that the Nintendo Switch 2 may come with an LCD screen instead of OLED. Of course, the console will still be able to connect to other screens. Therefore, if you own a high-quality OLED monitor, you can always play games with a dock.

The good news is the backwards compatibility. The Nintendo Switch 2 will run your digital and physical games without any problems. This way, your library that you spent a fortune on will be accessible for you, and you can replay the games you played in low quality due to the inadequate hardware of the console that came out in 2018, but now in a smooth way.

It’s worth noting that there is no confirmed release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2024 at the moment. The report by VGC is based on leaks from sources in the industry and estimates by experts like Dr. Serkan Toto. However, the fact that so many sources are saying similar things does make the claims stronger. Unfortunately, we don’t have detailed information about the price or other technical specifications yet. But more information on this topic is expected to emerge in the future.

According to a tipster, the company is apparently planning on equipping its upcoming Switch console. There have already been various rumors regarding a new generation handheld console and the latest one talks about the chipset that will power this new Switch. Nintendo will reportedly feature a new and improved Nvidia Tegra chipset. While no details regarding its specifications or its performance, the leak claims that it will be built using Samsung’s 5nm 5LPP process (5nm Low Power Plus).

For those unaware, the company is working on either a higher end Switch Pro or a direct successor with the Switch 2. Furthermore, recent rumors that had also hinted at the next gen Nvidia Tegra chip will be based on the Ampere architecture. Although, this Nvidia platform is based on the 7nm TSMC or Samsung’s 8nm process. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report so take this news with a pinch of salt for now.

Nintendo is also rumored to be planning on skipping the Switch Pro model entirely and simply build a true next gen console. Meaning, the upcoming handheld console could offer a better battery life and performance thanks to a more advanced fabrication process. So stick around for more as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.

The company has officially stated that it is not working on a Switch Pro model. However, a tweet from Pixelpar has claimed otherwise. For those unaware, the Switch has been a popular handheld gaming console in the market, but many users have also wanted a more powerful version for a while now. So, the Pro model would likely be a great addition to the Switch series.

As per the leak, the Switch Pro will be launching sometime near the end of this year. The tipster added that the new model will support current cartridges and even feature a similar form factor as the original Switch. Although, the Pro model is rumored to offer better performance overall. The Switch Pro is also expected to launch with a larger display and support for 4K output when docked.

The upcoming handheld console will also reportedly feature more RAM and a new Nvidia Tegra chipset. A recent leak has claimed that the Switch Pro could be revealed in September 2022. Notably, the source of this leak had also accurately predicted the Splatoon 3 Switch OLED. Unfortunately, this is still an unconfirmed report so take this news with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more updates.

The news arrives from an Nvidia source code leak that hints at a new Switch successor (Switch 2), or the Switch Pro.

Since the leak, the Nintendo Switch Pro and Switch 2 have begun trending on Twitter. There had previously been rumors regarding an Pro model for the Switch handheld gaming console, which would have offered native 4K support, although, these have never been confirmed by the Japanese company. With its rival console makers launching the Xbox Series X/S and the PS5, its only a matter of time till Nintendo unveils its own next gen console that features performance upgrades and other new features.

But despite various rumors, the only new release from the company was an OLED Switch variant. However, the Nvidia source code leak, following a cyberattack, revealed files that hint at a new Switch model. The folders in the leak are listed as “nvn2.” For those unaware, the original Switch had an API labelled as nvn. Keep in mind that this listing is not a direct confirmation that the company is working on a new Switch model, so take this report with a pinch of salt.

They said Nvidia DLSS source code leaked except I instantly see "nvn2" in the screenshot which sounds… Switch 2 specific code?https://t.co/sGdANFTYsg

— Yakumono (@LuigiBlood) March 1, 2022

Additionally, it is also entirely possible that “nvn2” is being used to designate something entirely different. But if it is true, then the Nintendo Switch 2/Pro will feature support for DLSS for its games. The company has seen great success with its existing Switch lineup, even including the OLED variant, so it won’t be a surprise if it planned on launching a new Pro model to compete with the recently released Steam Deck handheld gaming console that is more powerful than any Switch version in the market.

There have been multiple reports about the handheld gaming console which is expected to launch as the successor to the original Switch announced in 2016. New details of the console have now surfaced.

According to the leaker that goes by kopite7kimi on Reddit, the Switch Pro will be powered by a processor codenamed “Dane”. This may sound like a conflicting statement to an earlier report that revealed the chipset is codenamed “Black Knight”. It turns out both details are correct.

Apparently, both “Dane” and “Black Knight” are one and the same. NVIDIA is known to codename its chips after Marvel Comics characters, and those who are well versed in comic lore will know that the real name of the Marvel character that goes by “Black Knight” is Dane Whitman. FYI – the character is set to appear in the upcoming Marvel’s Eternals movie and will be played by Kit Harington who is best known for his portrayal of Jon Snow in Game of Thrones.

It has also been reported that “Dane” is an 8nm chip which is a big upgrade from the 20nm chipset that powers the original Nintendo Switch. Even the 2019 refresh of the console features a 16nm chipset. The advantage of a smaller node size means better power efficiency and performance. This should translate into longer battery life for the upcoming console when compared to the first-gen model.

The latest report about the launch date for the Nintendo Switch Pro states that the console will not launch this year but next year. It remains to be seen if this is true.

This could indicate that the latest Nintendo offering is close to an official unveiling. A further leak says that another big retailer would list the console on its stock list on June 4. Therefore, we may be closer to the eventual unveiling of the Switch Pro, possibly in a matter of days.

A previous report had hinted that the gaming console could be unveiled before the E3 gaming conference, but these new listings are some of the clearest signs yet that the unveiling is imminent. The machine was discovered to have been briefly listed by French retailer Boulanger for 399 Euros (about $486). However, the listing is not currently on the retailer’s official website as it has been pulled down.

Furthermore, there’s a claim by the guys at ControLeaks that they have a verified screenshot of the internal system of a big retailer that indicates new Switch hardware will be listed live on June 4. That’s just a baseless claim since there is no proof.

It is not clear yet whether Nintendo will offer different price templates for its customers in Europe and America. Whatever the case, the new OLED Switch Pro could drive strong demand with its impressive features.

Nintendo has not put any info out yet on the release date for the Switch Pro. The E3 Gaming Conference is slated for June 15. Although we do not expect any announcement relating to the Switch Pro at that event, Nintendo is billed to unveil new Switch games at the event.

Now, the company’s insider has revealed that the new model will support 4K.

It has also been revealed that the Nintendo Switch Pro will be officially launched later this year. However, do note that the company has not yet confirmed the launch date or even the existence of the Switch Pro.

The rumors about the Nintendo Switch Pro started surfacing online around the launch of Sony PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X. It has been four years since Nintendo launched Switch and so people are expecting the company to launch an upgraded version in the near future.

A couple of months ago, Doug Bower, who is leading Nintendo in America, debunked Switch Pro rumors and said that the Switch Lite is performing well in the market and thus the company is not working on a new devices. However, experts are not convinced.

Industry leader Nate Drake said in a new forum post on Reset Era that he is “confident it [Switch Pro] gets announced this year.” He also added that “hope remains for a 2021 launch,” but if there is any sort of delay until 2022, this should be announced within the next few months.

The Nintendo Switch Pro is expected to come with the company’s resolution upgrade tool called DLSS and support for 4K functionality. It is also believed to have an improved portal mode and should have a few other meaningful upgrades.
