<p>While many brands are yet to release a stable Android 13 update for their phones, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> has even rolled out an iterative update after the Android 13-based One UI 5.0. The brand has already released the One UI 5.1 update to many of its eligible devices. The latest ones to get the update are Galaxy Tab S7 FE and Galaxy Tab A8 10.5. Here are the details.</p>

<p>The 5G Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-tab-s7-fe">Galaxy Tab S7 FE</a>&#8216;s international model with model number SM-T736B has started to receive the One UI 5.1 update in Europe. The software is being seeded to the tablet with firmware version T736BXXU2CWC5. It brings several new features as well as the February 2023 Android security patch.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="575" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Galaxy-Tab-S7-FE-1-1024x575.webp?x44794" alt="Galaxy-Tab-S7-FE-1" class="wp-image-527140" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Galaxy-Tab-S7-FE-1-1024x575.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Galaxy-Tab-S7-FE-1-300x168.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Galaxy-Tab-S7-FE-1-768x431.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Galaxy-Tab-S7-FE-1-1536x862.webp 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Galaxy-Tab-S7-FE-1-696x391.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Galaxy-Tab-S7-FE-1-1068x600.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Galaxy-Tab-S7-FE-1-748x420.webp 748w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Galaxy-Tab-S7-FE-1.webp 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>On the other hand, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-tab-a8">Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 </a>10.5 is getting the One UI 5.1 update in South Korea. The update is rolling out to the SM-X200 model in the country but it should reach other regions pretty soon.  The update has firmware version X200XXU2CWC1 and carries the outdated January 2023 security patch.</p>

<p>To check for the One UI 5.1 update on your Galaxy Tab S7 FE or Galaxy Tab A8 10.5, you can manually navigate to the tablet&#8217;s Settings menu and select the Software update option. If you haven&#8217;t received the update yet, this is a great way to see if it&#8217;s available for download.</p>

<p>The latest One UI 5.1 update introduces many exciting features. These include an Expert RAW app, improved Photo Remaster, Multi Control, and independent wallpapers for Modes and Routines. Additionally, users can now customize their lock screen with new options. Moreover, the Gallery app has undergone significant enhancements, including advanced search capabilities, which allow users to locate individuals by simply tapping on their faces.</p>

<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> introduced the latest version of its custom Android skin— <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-5-1">One UI 5.1</a>— with the Galaxy S23 Series earlier this month. The brand has announced the software will also be made available for older Galaxy phones. Recently, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/02/19/unlocked-samsung-galaxy-s22-series-one-ui-5-1-update-us/">Galaxy S22 series</a> and a couple of mid-range smartphones have received the update. Now, the Korean company is releasing the One UI 5.1 update for the Galaxy Z Fold3 and the Galaxy A73. Here are the details.</p>

<p>As reported by folks at GSMArena, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold3-5g/">Galaxy Z Fold3</a> units in Europe have started to get the latest One UI 5.1 based on the Android 13 update with firmware version F926BXXU3EWB1 / F926BOXM3EWB1 / F926BXXU3EWB1. The 1406.51 MB update package brings several new features, including access to Expert RAW from the Camera app and improved multitasking. The software also brings the February 2023 security patch with itself. While the update is currently rolling out in the old continent, it should soon extend to other regions.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1000" height="563" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold3.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold3" class="wp-image-517505" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold3.jpg 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold3-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold3-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold3-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold3-746x420.jpg 746w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure></div>

<p>In addition, the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a73"> Galaxy A73</a> is also getting the latest One UI 5.1 update. Currently, it is being seeded in Malaysia with version number A736BXXU3CWB7. Alongside the usual features, the update also brings the February 2023 security patch for the device. You can check for the update’s availability by heading to Settings &gt; Software update and tapping Download and install.</p>

<p>The One UI 5.1 update does bring a lot of improvements but it is also reported to be causing certain issues. Some users have <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/02/15/samsung-one-ui-5-1-update-causing-issues-for-some-users-network-battery-drain-and-more/">reported</a> issues with their devices after installing the latest software update. Specifically, they have noticed that their devices are running more slowly than before, and their batteries are draining more quickly. Others claim that certain features are no longer functioning properly after installing the update.</p>

<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tags/samsung">Samsung</a> recently launched its <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tags/oneui">One UI</a> 5.1 user interface, based on Android 13, alongside the Galaxy S23 series. The brand recently released the first OTA update for the Galaxy S23 series. The Korean tech giant is now rolling out the One UI 5.1 update to the Samsung <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a33-5g">Galaxy A33</a> and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a53-5g">Galaxy A53 5G</a> devices. However, there&#8217;s a catch. The update is currently limited to the South Korean market and other global variants will grab the update soon.</p>

<p>The firmware version of the One UI 5.1 update for the Galaxy A33 5G is A336NKSU3CWB3, while the firmware version for the Galaxy A53 5G is A536NKSU4CWB3. The February 2023 security patch is also included in these updates for the devices. Samsung may, as previously said, issue the One UI 5.1 upgrade for the Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A33 5G in other nations in the upcoming weeks. There&#8217;s no official confirmation on the rollout schedule yet.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="617" height="411" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-galaxy-a33-5g-gizmochina.png?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy A33 5G" class="wp-image-516709" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-galaxy-a33-5g-gizmochina.png 617w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-galaxy-a33-5g-gizmochina-300x200.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 617px) 100vw, 617px" /></figure></div>

<p>You may now check for the most recent update if you possess one of these devices and reside in South Korea by going to Settings » Software update and selecting Download and install. We suggest waiting a few more days if you haven&#8217;t yet gotten the update before manually downloading it on your smartphone. The update is being carried out gradually, so it can take some time before it reaches all devices.</p>

<p>With the new update, the user interface and performance are also expected to be improved. The phone will operate more quickly and respond to user input more quickly as a result, making it easier to use. It is also expected that the update would include security enhancements that will shield the user data and the device from malicious attacks and other security threats. So there was the end of the topic. I appreciate you taking the time to read this entire post.</p>

<p>Samsung recently announced One UI 5.1 with the S23 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event. After the installation of One UI 5.1, some Samsung users reporting several issues related to update, battery draining, and more. Here are the details…</p>

<h2><strong>Is One UI 5.1 Unreliable? Questions Raised by Recent Issues</strong></h2>

<p>Most of us are aware that using up-to-date software can be beneficial. With new updates, features, security measures and other improvements, these updates can help enhance the user experience. However, with old devices and new software, there may be a lack of harmony between the two and this can lead to some issues. This is exactly what some Galaxy users are experiencing with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneui-5-1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">One UI 5.1</a>.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-one-ui-5-1-update-causing-issues-for-some-users-1024x576.jpeg?x44794" alt="One UI 5.1 " class="wp-image-515619" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-one-ui-5-1-update-causing-issues-for-some-users-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-one-ui-5-1-update-causing-issues-for-some-users-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-one-ui-5-1-update-causing-issues-for-some-users-768x432.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-one-ui-5-1-update-causing-issues-for-some-users-696x392.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-one-ui-5-1-update-causing-issues-for-some-users-1068x601.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-one-ui-5-1-update-causing-issues-for-some-users-746x420.jpeg 746w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-one-ui-5-1-update-causing-issues-for-some-users.jpeg 1400w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>A Samsung Galaxy S22 user has reported a bad experience after installing <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneui-5-1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">One UI 5.1</a>. <p>Many users have been experiencing issues with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneui-5-1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">One UI 5.1</a> installation, with some reporting that certain features are no longer available. Most notably, the ability to choose from different colors when setting a new wallpaper has been removed. This is a problem for those who use this feature regularly, as manual selection of colors is now required. In addition, the rapid depletion of the battery and the problems experienced in many different bugs.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/02/07/samsung-galaxy-s23-gos-toggle/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung Galaxy S23 series </a>was introduced at the Unpacked event held on February 1st. Along with the company&#8217;s new phones, the highly anticipated interface, One UI 5.1, also made its debut. However, the latest information about this interface has surprised everyone. It is claimed that One UI 5.1 uses 60 GB of storage on the system partitions due to bloatware. Are these claims true? Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>One UI 5.1 bloatware is not consuming 60 GB storage on new Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus or Galaxy S23 Ultra</strong></h2>

<p>Recently, there have been reports claiming that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-5-1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">One UI 5.1</a> software on the new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/02/02/samsung-galaxy-s23-better-cooling-larger-heat-dissipation-area/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung Galaxy S23</a>, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra uses 60 GB of storage on the system partitions due to bloatware. However, these claims are false. So, what are system partitions? </p>

<p>Android OEMs typically reserve some storage space for system apps, which cannot be removed by the user. This varies from device to device. In the case of the Galaxy S23 series, the storage reserved for system partitions is not as high as 60 GB. For example, a 128 GB Galaxy S22 Ultra reserves only 26.09 GB for the system, and a 512 GB Galaxy S23 Ultra uses 55.23 GB.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="364" height="781" data-id="514810"  src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/one-ui-5-1-bloatware-storage-consumption-1.jpeg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-514810" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/one-ui-5-1-bloatware-storage-consumption-1.jpeg 364w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/one-ui-5-1-bloatware-storage-consumption-1-140x300.jpeg 140w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/one-ui-5-1-bloatware-storage-consumption-1-196x420.jpeg 196w" sizes="(max-width: 364px) 100vw, 364px" /><figcaption>System usage on the Galaxy S22 Ultra with 128 GB of storage. <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="364" height="781" data-id="514811"  src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/one-ui-5-1-bloatware-storage-consumption.jpeg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-514811" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/one-ui-5-1-bloatware-storage-consumption.jpeg 364w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/one-ui-5-1-bloatware-storage-consumption-140x300.jpeg 140w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/one-ui-5-1-bloatware-storage-consumption-196x420.jpeg 196w" sizes="(max-width: 364px) 100vw, 364px" /><figcaption>System usage on the Galaxy S23 Ultra with 512 GB of storage. (Image source: NotebookCheck)</figcaption></figure>
</figure>

<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that the storage capacity reported by Android devices is often converted from GiB to GB, and this conversion can result in some losses. For example, a device advertised with 512 GB of storage might actually have closer to 476 GB of usable space. One UI 5.1 reports these conversion losses under &#8220;system&#8221;, which has led to some confusion about the amount of storage space consumed by the software.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Plus-Ultra-1024x683.webp?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy S23 Series" class="wp-image-513753" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Plus-Ultra-1024x683.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Plus-Ultra-300x200.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Plus-Ultra-768x512.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Plus-Ultra-696x464.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Plus-Ultra-630x420.webp 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Plus-Ultra.webp 1068w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>So, the reports of 60 GB of bloatware on the Galaxy S23 series are not accurate. The amount of storage reserved for system partitions is reasonable, and the apparent high storage usage is due to conversion losses and labeling under &#8220;system&#8221;. Samsung has not misled consumers about the storage available on the devices.</p>

<p>Samsung is set to unveil its new flagship lineup, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s23/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy S23 series</a>, on February 1st, and it looks like the company is already preparing its software for the new devices. A leaked version of the Game Launcher app, which is expected to be part of the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">One UI 5.1</a> update, is now available for download.</p>

<h3><strong>First possible One UI 5.1 app is now available for download!</strong></h3>

<p>The new version of the Game Launcher app, version 7.0.00.5, is said to not bring any new features, but it does put gaming recommendations at the forefront, which is a slight improvement over the current version. However, it&#8217;s unclear if this version of the app will be part of One UI 5.1 or if it will be released as a separate app update for existing Galaxy devices.</p>

</figure>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s23/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy S23 series </a>will run on Android 13 out of the box, with One UI 5.1 on top. In addition to new software, the devices are also expected to feature hardware upgrades such as a 200MP camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, new Snapdragon chip on all phones and bigger batteries on the base Galaxy S23 and Plus model.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that this is an unofficial version of the app, and as such, it may not work properly on all devices. If you decide to download and install the leaked version of the Game Launcher app, it&#8217;s best to do so at your own risk.</p>

<p>In conclusion, Samsung is gearing up for the release of its new flagship devices and with the leak of the Game Launcher app, it appears that the company is also preparing its software for the new devices. While the leaked version of the app doesn&#8217;t seem to bring any new features, it does put gaming recommendations at the forefront, which is a slight improvement. It&#8217;s unclear if this version of the app will be part of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">One UI 5.1</a> or if it will be released as a separate app update for existing Galaxy devices.</p>

<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> announced in February 2022 that a whole bunch of Galaxy devices will be eligible for four years of Android updates, including flagships, foldable phones, and even budget models. However, 2020’s Galaxy S20 series wasn’t so lucky and it is expected to receive only 3 major updates. The lineup already received its last major update in the form of Android 13. But it looks like Samsung is planning to release another big update to the S20 series.</p>

<p>As reported by Sammobile, the Korean company has started the internal testing of the One UI 5.1 update for the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s20">Galaxy S20</a>, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s20-plus">Galaxy S20+</a>, and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s20-ultra">Galaxy S20 Ultra</a>. The software is apparently being tested with firmware version G980FXXUFHWA1. The H in the tenth position of the firmware version suggests the software is a major one.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="771" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-series-1024x771.png?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy S20 series" class="wp-image-507569" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-series-1024x771.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-series-300x226.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-series-768x578.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-series-696x524.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-series-1068x804.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-series-558x420.png 558w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-series-80x60.png 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-series.png 1500w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>For reference, the Galaxy S20 series devices running One UI 5.0 has a firmware version G980FXXUFGWA5, with the letter G in the same position.</p>

<p>Based on this information, we can assume that Samsung will soon release a new One UI 5.1 update to the aging Galaxy S20. This new version of One UI is reported to bring some new features and improvements. It could bring some additional lockscreen and other UI customization features.</p>

<p>The company is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/12/28/samsung-testing-one-ui-5-1-update/">expected to introduce </a>the One UI 5.1 alongside the Galaxy S23 Series on February 1. However, there’s no official confirmation from the brand yet.</p>

<p>It is worth reminding you that the Galaxy S20 series, which includes the Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra, will continue receiving monthly security patches for up to two more years.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> is gearing up to launch its next-generation Galaxy S-series flagship smartphones under the Galaxy S23 lineup. While the launch date has not been officially revealed, it is speculated to go official on 1st February.</p>

<p>Now, ahead of the launch, new information about the phone&#8217;s software has surfaced. The upcoming Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s23">Galaxy S23 models</a> will run a newer version of the One UI.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="720" height="377" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Samsung-One-UI.jpeg?x44794" alt="Samsung One UI" class="wp-image-505491" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Samsung-One-UI.jpeg 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Samsung-One-UI-300x157.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Samsung-One-UI-696x364.jpeg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></figure></div>

<p>As per the latest report, Samsung is currently testing the new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-one-ui">One UI</a> 5.1 update for the Galaxy S22 series and carries firmware version S90xEXXU2CVL7. It was spotted on Samsung&#8217;s servers and is expected to release for the S22 lineup soon after it debuts with the Galaxy S23 series smartphones.</p>

<p>Currently, there&#8217;s no information available about what new features are coming to the One UI 5.1; however, it&#8217;s safe to assume that the update will be based on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-13">Android 13</a> operating system, similar to the One UI 5.0. The South Korean giant had previously teased lock screen customizations, which we expect to see in the upcoming update.</p>

<p>The Samsung Galaxy S23 series, debuting as the company&#8217;s next-generation flagship lineup, will come with a slightly updated design, better display, upgraded camera sensors, and bigger batteries. The phones will also come powered by the latest Qualcomm <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-2">Snapdragon 8 Gen 2</a> processor and pack a newer version of One UI based on the Android 13 operating system.</p>
