<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-382451 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-03.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus 9 Pro camera featured 03" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-03.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-03-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-03-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-03-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-03-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-03-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-03-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-03-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></p>
<p>According to an <a href="https://www.androidpolice.com/2021/04/03/oneplus-delays-sales-of-the-9-pros-969-base-model/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>AndroidPolice</em> </a>report, the Chinese smartphone maker will apparently not launch the base 9 Pro model in the US. While the brand had initially stated that the base version of the Pro model was still on the way and there were certain delays due to supply issues, it seems that this might now be the case anymore. In other words, supply issues might make it difficult for the firm to launch this model in the US and Canadian markets.</p>
<p>In a statement, the company said that &#8220;The OnePlus 9 Pro 8&#215;128 GB variant was originally set to be sold in North America for $969. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen supply constraints specific to North American devices, we recently concluded it is no longer possible to bring this configuration to the United States and Canada. In North America, we are prioritizing the 12&#215;256 GB version to ensure our users have access to the highest spec device.&#8221;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-382449 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-01.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-01.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-01-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-01-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-01-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-01-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-01-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-01-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/OnePlus-9-Pro-Review-01-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></p>
<p>So as of right now, the only 9 Pro model available in the US and Canada is the more expensive 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage variant that is priced at 1,069 US Dollars. Although, for those on a budget, the OnePlus 9 is still a decent alternative to the Pro variant, since it does arrive with a price tag that is more than 300 US Dollars cheaper. So stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.</p>

<p>According to a <a href="https://www.counterpointresearch.com/oneplus-bucks-us-smartphone-market-trend-in-2020/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Counterpoint Research</em></a> report, the Chinese smartphone maker saw a great boost in the US market, despite most other vendors seeing a decline. Only be the second half of last year did the market recover, but it OnePlus apparently flew past its competition in terms of growth in channel presence and overall market size. In 2020, the company saw a market growth of 163 percent year on year over 2019, which is notable considering every other major OEM like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Samsung</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple</a> saw a decline during the same period.</p>
<p>As per the report, OnePlus managed to achieve this by being an appealing alternative to customers that had become &#8220;disenfranchised with current premium smartphone offerings.&#8221; This was primarily due to two particular OEMs and their new offerings, namely Apple and Samsung. The former&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-12/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone 12</a> series and the latter&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-s20/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy S20</a> lineup saw an increase in pricing, due to the addition of 5G support. With the average price of smartphones rising with each passing year, consumers were reluctant to this trend, especially during the pandemic.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-366306 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/OnePlus-Nord-N10-5G-Featured-01.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus Nord N10 5G Featured 01" width="4000" height="2250" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/OnePlus-Nord-N10-5G-Featured-01.jpg 4000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/OnePlus-Nord-N10-5G-Featured-01-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/OnePlus-Nord-N10-5G-Featured-01-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/OnePlus-Nord-N10-5G-Featured-01-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/OnePlus-Nord-N10-5G-Featured-01-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/OnePlus-Nord-N10-5G-Featured-01-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/OnePlus-Nord-N10-5G-Featured-01-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/OnePlus-Nord-N10-5G-Featured-01-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4000px) 100vw, 4000px" /></p>
<p>Furthermore, OnePlus is a relatively small OEM in comparison to these aforementioned brands. But despite its size, the company saw strong growth last year and is expecting positive results this year as well. The launch of the company&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-nord-n10-5g/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">OnePlus Nord N10 5G</a> also helped the company in the US market as it is a sub 300 US Dollar handset that offered a 90Hz refresh rate display, with 5G support.</p>

Smartphone sale in the US market is heavily dependent on telecom carriers. So, the move was a pretty impressive one and the results have started streaming in<img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-236037" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/OxygenOS-OTA-OnePlus-6-and-OnePlus-6T-featured.jpg?x10805" alt="OxygenOS OTA OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T featured" width="720" height="420" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/OxygenOS-OTA-OnePlus-6-and-OnePlus-6T-featured.jpg 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/OxygenOS-OTA-OnePlus-6-and-OnePlus-6T-featured-300x175.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></p>
<p>According to a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC) as contained in an official press release by OnePlus, it ranks among the top five high-end smartphone vendors during the fourth quarter. Much of this is as a result of the OnePlus 6T that was released within the fourth quarter. The OP6T is reported to have sold so well in the US between October and December. Fora company that is barely 5 years old in the industry, that is no small feat. Also, this is coming in the face of a slump in global smartphone shipments.</p>

<p>Unfortunately, OnePlus didn&#8217;t disclose its market share in the high-end US market but we believe it is huge to have lifted the company to the top 5 brands in Q4 2018. The figures could even be higher but the OnePlus 6T wasn&#8217;t available all quarter just like the OP6 that equally got lots of positive reviews. In case you are wondering who the remaining four brands are, that wasn&#8217;t disclosed but there is no doubt Apple and Samsung occupy the first two lots. Google and LG are tipped to also be among the top 5.</p>

Although the specs are entirely the same as the 8GB RAM version of the device and availability is limited to certain countries. However, the regular version is now out of stock in a number of countries including US and Canada.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-140260 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/OnePlus-5-design-18.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus 5" width="1024" height="576" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/OnePlus-5-design-18.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/OnePlus-5-design-18-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/OnePlus-5-design-18-768x432.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>A lot of other countries also have the slate gray variant out of stock. India is the only country that has all models and color variants in stock. That is not surprising since the OP5 sold there is manufactured by the OPPO factory in Utah Pradesh.</p>
<p>So what&#8217;s happening with the unavailable stock in these key markets? While there is no evidence of a new OnePlus phone, some say it may launch a new phone soon. This contradicts recent reports of the OnePlus 5T being cancelled in favor of an early release of the OnePlus 6. It could also just be supply/production issues and they will be back in stock soon.</p>
<p>If OnePlus is indeed going to release a new phone, the key change will be the design, influenced greatly by the display which is expected to have an 18:9 aspect ratio as some other flagships. The rest of the specs may not change, at least we are sure of the processor being a Snapdragon 835 and RAM will either be 6GB or 8GB.</p>
<p>Last year, OnePlus released the OnePlus 3 in June and followed it up with the OnePlus 3T in November. Although the key change was the Snapdragon 820 processor which was replaced with the newer Snapdragon 821.</p>

<p>OnePlus&#8217; sister companies, Vivo and OPPO have released or have a full-screen smartphone in the works. There is the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-v7-plus/">Vivo V7 Plus</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-x20/">Vivo X20</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-x20-plus/">X20 Plus</a> which have been announced and OPPO&#8217;s F5 is expected to launch soon. So, OnePlus can decide to follow in their footsteps and launch a successor with an 18:9 display this year.</p>
