<p>A recent <a href="https://weibo.com/5821279480/NcHgssjER" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">leak</a> from tipster FixedFocus has unveiled the render of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi&#8217;s</a> possible upcoming phone featuring a pop-up front camera. This intriguing design aspect isn&#8217;t entirely new but represents a renewed trend in the smartphone industry. Introduced to the world in 2018 with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-nex/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vivo NEX</a>, the pop-up camera was initially developed as a solution to the problem of incorporating a front camera without compromising on-screen real estate. It has always been a subject of debate, with its pros and cons from an aesthetic and functionality standpoint.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render-1024x576.png?x10805" alt="Xiaomi pop up front camera render" class="wp-image-555253" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render-1068x601.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render-747x420.png 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<h2>Reviving the Pop-Up Camera: Xiaomi&#8217;s Bold Move in Smartphone Design</h2>

<p>Xiaomi&#8217;s implementation, however, is based on their &#8220;Hidden Electronic Device and Hidden Camera&#8221; patent, which promises reduced space occupation, leading to a thinner and lighter device compared to previous pop-up front camera models. This advanced design aims to eliminate some of the shortcomings associated with the earlier models, such as the increase in the device&#8217;s weight and size.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="690" height="812" data-id="555255" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render-patent.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi pop up front camera render patent" class="wp-image-555255" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render-patent.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render-patent-255x300.jpg 255w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render-patent-357x420.jpg 357w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="690" height="647" data-id="555254" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render-patent-1.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi pop up front camera render patent" class="wp-image-555254" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render-patent-1.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render-patent-1-300x281.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Xiaomi-pop-up-front-camera-render-patent-1-448x420.jpg 448w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></figure>
</figure>

<p>The patent granted by the National Intellectual Property Administration confirms the inclusion of a housing, camera module, and retractable reflective component. The reflective component plays a vital role in protecting the camera module, reducing space usage, and improving pixel quality by reflecting images onto the camera module for imaging.</p>

<p>Over the past few years, the popularity of pop-up cameras has seen highs and lows, with many brands opting for hole-punch cameras or under-screen cameras for a sleeker design. While <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Apple</a> with their <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-14-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">iPhone 14 Pro</a> series adopts a dynamic island design, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/20/huawei-mate-60-series-spirit-island/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei&#8217;s Mate60 series is rumored to follow</a> a similar path. However, Xiaomi&#8217;s return to this design showcases the resilience and potential for innovation in the pop-up camera technology.</p>

<p>The phone&#8217;s design with this revived and re-engineered pop-up camera presents a true full-screen effect with invisible front bezels if it adopts a four-curved design. This promises an even more immersive experience for users, showcasing the full potential of the screen without any obstructions.</p>

<p>The return of the pop-up front camera could bring a fresh direction to the mobile phone industry, offering users an innovative and visually appealing option.</p>

One example that comes to mind is the pop-up selfie camera design. However, that should change soon as a leak has revealed Samsung is working on its very first phone with a pop-up selfie camera.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-319348 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Pop-up-Selfie-Camera-Phone-b.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung Galaxy Pop-up Selfie Camera Phone" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Pop-up-Selfie-Camera-Phone-b.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Pop-up-Selfie-Camera-Phone-b-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Pop-up-Selfie-Camera-Phone-b-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Pop-up-Selfie-Camera-Phone-b-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Pop-up-Selfie-Camera-Phone-b-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Pop-up-Selfie-Camera-Phone-b-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Pop-up-Selfie-Camera-Phone-b-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Samsung-Galaxy-Pop-up-Selfie-Camera-Phone-b-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></p>
<p>The source of the leak is serial leaker @OnLeaks and he has partnered with <em>Pigtou</em> for this one.</p>
<p>The upcoming Samsung phone whose name is unknown will likely be an affordable mid-range device based on its design.</p>
<p>It has a flat display and the screen is said to be about 6.5-inches in size with a moderately sized lower bezel. The back is curved and is home to three cameras housed together with the LED flash and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The dimensions of the device are 183.5 x 77 x 9.2 (9.7 with the camera module) millimeters.</p>
<p>The bottom of the phone is home to a USB Type-C port flanked on one side by the speaker griller and on the other by a microphone. Surprisingly, Samsung didn&#8217;t put an audio jack on the device but there seems to be an IR blaster at the top of the phone.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/CQAN05QF7fI?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>The pop-up camera doesn&#8217;t have any fancy additions or even an LED flash as we have seen from some other manufacturers.</p>
<p>It is unknown if the phone will be a 5G device or will be a 4G phone. Nevertheless, there is nothing stopping Samsung from releasing both a 4G and a 5G version of the phone.</p>

However, these are not the only Motorola phones we are expecting to launch before the end of the year. The Lenovo-owned company is expected to launch its first phone with a pop-up selfie camera too, and new info reveals it may arrive as the Motorola One Hyper.</p>
<p>The info comes from a tweet by Mishaal Rahman, Editor-in-Chief of <em>XDA-Developers</em>. The tweet which was posted a few days ago says the Motorola One Hyper is likely the same phone with a pop-up camera that first leaked back in August and was followed by a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/07/the-upcoming-motorola-one-leaks-in-its-full-glory/">couple of live photos</a> a few weeks ago. Prior to this, the phone was originally called the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-one/">Motorola One</a> which itself is weird since there is already a phone with that name.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">Motorola One Hyper (XT2027-1).<br />Qualcomm Snapdragon 675.<br />Android 10.</p>

<p>and here: <a href="https://t.co/zRTuDudhMZ">https://t.co/zRTuDudhMZ</a></p>

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>The Motorola One Hyper has the model number XT027-1. It is powered by a Snapdragon 675 processor and will run Android 10 out of the box. If it is indeed the Motorola phone with a pop-up camera then it should also have a 6.39-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display, a 32MP pop-up selfie camera, 64MP + 8MP dual rear cameras, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, NFC, and a 3600mAh battery.</p>

<p><em>GSMArena</em> says a source informed them the phone will be priced under INR 20,000 (~$290). That pricing is vague as there are almost two categories under that mark.</p>
<p>The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 has a 6.59-inch Ultra FullView Display with a 2340 x 1080 resolution. There is a Kirin 710F processor under the hood. We don&#8217;t know the variant that will be available in India but the one sold in Nigeria has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. However, the phone also has a 4GB RAM + 64GB version. There is a MicroSD card slot for adding extra storage</p>
<p>The selfie camera is a 16MP sensor with 3D portrait face retouching. There is a 16MP + 8MP + 2MP triple camera setup on the rear with AI scene detection. The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 packs a 4000mAh battery, has a USB Type-C port and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It runs EMUI 9.0 based on Android Pie and comes in Midnight Black, Emerald Green, and Sapphire Blue.</p>

Prior to the announcement of the release date, alleged specs of the phone already leaked. Now a new set of leaks have surfaced. One shows what the phone will look like and another is a new set of specifications while a third mentions a new feature.</p>
<p>According to the newly leaked specs by <em>Sudhanshu Ambhore</em>, the Honor 9X will have a 6.15-inch AMOLED display with a 2240 x 1080 resolution. The display is smaller than that of the Honor 8X but fans of the series will be excited to see that Honor is switching to AMOLED. However, that may also mean the phone will be priced higher.</p>
<p>It is a bit unusual that Honor will use an AMOLED display on its mid-range phones when its latest flagships, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-20/">Honor 20</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-20-pro/">Honor 20 Pro</a> have LCD displays. But it is understandable as the Honor 20 phones had to settle for <strong>punch hole LCD displays</strong> since Samsung is the only manufacturer with phones that have <strong>punch hole AMOLED displays</strong>.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">These specs are of <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Honor9X?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Honor9X</a>.<a href="https://t.co/LDxSVXClzG">https://t.co/LDxSVXClzG</a></p>
<p>&mdash; Sudhanshu Ambhore (@Sudhanshu1414) <a href="https://twitter.com/Sudhanshu1414/status/1145998404985581568?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">July 2, 2019</a></p></blockquote>
<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>The leak says the phone will have an octa-core processor but doesn&#8217;t specify which one it is. Previous leaks have revealed it will be powered by the new 7nm Kirin 810 chipset that launched with the Nova 5. The SoC will be paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.</p>
<p>The Honor 9X will have a 20MP selfie camera and dual rear cameras (20MP + 16MP). It will also have support for 10W charging via a USB-C port. That seems slow for a phone that packs an AMOLED display and a 7nm chipset.</p>
<p>The source of the second leak is Evan Blass (@evleaks) who tweeted a diagram of the phone with the caption “Honor 9X”. The image is said to be from the phone&#8217;s user manual.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-262293" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Honor-9X.jpg?x10805" alt="Honor 9X" width="1090" height="1130" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Honor-9X.jpg 1090w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Honor-9X-289x300.jpg 289w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Honor-9X-768x796.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Honor-9X-988x1024.jpg 988w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Honor-9X-696x722.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Honor-9X-1068x1107.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Honor-9X-405x420.jpg 405w" sizes="(max-width: 1090px) 100vw, 1090px" /></p>
<p>The image shows the Honor 9X will have a display that nearly covers the entire front of the phone. The bezels have been trimmed down but the chin is slightly thicker than the rest.</p>
<p>The phone doesn&#8217;t have a punch hole or notch too. Instead, it rocks a pop-up selfie camera just like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-p-smart-z/">Huawei P Smart Z</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-y9-prime-2019/">Huawei Y9 Prime 2019</a>. Going by the leaked specs above, the selfie camera is a 20MP sensor.</p>
<p>The image also shows the rear of the phone which is home to dual rear cameras. The cameras and the LED flash share the same housing and are positioned on the left side of the phone. The first leaked specs actually said the phone will have triple rear cameras but this image shows otherwise. The new leaked specs also states the phone will have dual rear cameras.</p>
<p>There is no fingerprint scanner on the rear of the Honor 9X but seeing as the phone will be coming with an AMOLED display, that means there should be one under the panel.</p>
<p>The phone&#8217;s retail box also surfaced in a video shared by @RODENT950. The box is white at the top with blue sides and there is “9X” and “Honor” inscribed on it.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="und" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Honor9X?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Honor9X</a> <a href="https://t.co/nek8GQGm9J">pic.twitter.com/nek8GQGm9J</a></p>

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>In another tweet, he says the Honor 9X will support a new gamepad shown below. The gamepad a directional keys and a joystick on one side and action buttons and another joystick on the opposite side. There are some extra buttons too on each side.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">Honor 9X have USB C connection features and support this new gamepad, so Honor not release Honor Play successor this year or ever because X series takes its place<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.1.0/72x72/1f914.png" alt="🤔" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Honor9X?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Honor9X</a> <a href="https://t.co/zi56d78Zf4">pic.twitter.com/zi56d78Zf4</a></p>

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>He adds that the Honor Play will not be getting a successor this year or ever, so the X-series will be taking its place which explains why it is getting a gaming accessory.</p>
<p>The Honor 9X should run EMUI 9 based on Android Pie out of the box. It is also expected to come along with a Pro model.</p>

The latest teaser confirms an important feature of the phone.</p>
<p>The Redmi K20 has been reported to have a motorized selfie camera that slides out from the top frame. Leaked images have shown this and even an official video teaser (albeit a different design). The new teaser further confirms this as it shows the demon king sliding out from the top of the phone&#8217;s frame.</p>

<p>Redmi&#8217;s GM, Lu Weibing, shared the post on his timeline and revealed more details. In one post, he said the Redmi K20 is lighter than some other phones with pop-up selfie cameras as a result of optimizations carried out by the engineers. He also said durability tests carried out on the pop-up selfie camera exceeded 300,000 uses and will last more than 8 years if you were to take a 100 selfies per day.</p>

It was seen on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/08/huawei-p-smart-z-with-pop-up-selfie-camera-gets-silent-launch-in-spain-and-italy/">official Huawei Spain and Huawei Italy websites</a> last week but is yet to go on sale. However, it isn&#8217;t the only pop-up selfie camera phone from the Chinese phone maker. There is the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 and it is almost the same phone as the P Smart Z but with an extra rear camera.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-252755 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019.png?x10805" alt="Huawei Y9 Prime 2019" width="629" height="783" data-wp-editing="1" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019.png 629w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-241x300.png 241w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-337x420.png 337w" sizes="(max-width: 629px) 100vw, 629px" /></p>
<p>The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 has been listed on Huawei&#8217;s official website, baring all its specs.</p>
<p>We said it shares nearly the same specs and even design as the Huawei P Smart Z. So you get a 6.59-inch Ultra FullView Display with a 2340 x 1080 resolution in front and a two-toned finish on the back. There is a Kirin 710F processor under the hood and it is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Unlike the P Smart Z, it also has a 128GB version and both variants have a MicroSD card slot for up to 512GB of additional storage</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-252756" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-3D-portrait.png?x10805" alt="Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 3D portrait" width="861" height="642" data-wp-editing="1" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-3D-portrait.png 861w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-3D-portrait-300x224.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-3D-portrait-768x573.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-3D-portrait-80x60.png 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-3D-portrait-265x198.png 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-3D-portrait-696x519.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-3D-portrait-563x420.png 563w" sizes="(max-width: 861px) 100vw, 861px" /></p>
<p>The pop-up selfie camera is a 16MP sensor, while the rear cameras, which are 16MP + 2MP dual camera sensors on the P Smart Z, add an 8MP ultra wide-angle lens to make a triple camera setup. There are lots of camera features including 3D Portrait retouching (for front and rear cameras) and AI scene recognition.</p>
<p>The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 has a 4000mAh battery which charges via a USB Type-C port. There is a fingerprint scanner on the back but there is no NFC which the P Smart Z has. The phone runs EMUI 9.0 based on Android Pie and comes in Midnight Black, Emerald Green, and Sapphire Blue.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-252754" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-2019-Black-and-Blue.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Y9 2019 Black and Blue" width="1023" height="621" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-2019-Black-and-Blue.jpg 1023w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-2019-Black-and-Blue-300x182.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-2019-Black-and-Blue-768x466.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-2019-Black-and-Blue-696x422.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-2019-Black-and-Blue-692x420.jpg 692w" sizes="(max-width: 1023px) 100vw, 1023px" /></p>

<p>Huawei is yet to announce availability and pricing for the Huawei Y9 Prime (2019). Nevertheless, we are eager to know if you are willing to add a little more to the €279 price tag of the P Smart Z for an extra camera?</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Huawei P Smart Z comes with what <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> has dubbed an Ultra FullView Display. There is no notch or punch hole on the screen like some of Huawei&#8217;s other phones. It is practically all-screen with a slightly thick lower bezel. The LCD screen is 6.59-inches with an FHD+ (2340 x 1080) resolution. There is a small grille in the frame for the earpiece.</p>
<p>Since there is no notch, punch hole, or top bezel, the 16MP selfie camera has a new home. It is hidden inside the phone when not in use and pops up in just 1 second when needed for a selfie and retracts when you are done. Huawei boasts the selfie camera can withstand a pressure of 12kg and has been tested over 100,000 times. It can also work in environments with temperatures between -20°C and 60°C.</p>

<p>The selfie camera is loaded with tons of features. It has a 6P lens, 8 different selfie-timer scenes, and can take 3D portraits (available on the rear camera too).</p>
<p>The P Smart Z is powered by the Kirin 710F processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. There is a 16MP + 2MP dual camera combo on the rear which can identify up to 500 different scenes under 22 categories. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back. The phone packs a 4000mAh battery that charges via a USB Type-C port. It has NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, and dual-SIM slot. It also runs EMUI 9.0 based on Android Pie.</p>

<p>The Huawei P Smart Z comes in Midnight Black, Emerald Green, and Starlight Blue. It weighs 198.6 grams and measures 163.5 x 77.3 x 8.8 millimeters. It will sell for €279 according to an Amazon Italy listing from last week but there is still no info on when it will be available for purchase.</p>
<p>Huawei has another phone with a pop-up selfie camera called the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/03/huawei-y9-prime-2019-also-has-a-pop-up-selfie-camera-and-triple-rear-cameras/">Y9 Prime 2019</a> coming soon too. Unlike the Huawei P Smart Z, it has triple rear cameras.</p>

Now a bunch of alleged promotional images have surfaced online and they too show a different design. Which leads us to ask “What does the Honor 20 Pro really look like?”.</p>
<p>The short answer is we won&#8217;t know until the launch on May 21. Or if we are lucky, a hands-on video might surface before the launch. Nevertheless, while we debate which design is genuine, let&#8217;s take a look at these promotional images.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-251984" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Honor-20-Pro-promo-images.png?x10805" alt="Honor 20 Pro promo images" width="807" height="507" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Honor-20-Pro-promo-images.png 807w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Honor-20-Pro-promo-images-300x188.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Honor-20-Pro-promo-images-768x482.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Honor-20-Pro-promo-images-696x437.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Honor-20-Pro-promo-images-669x420.png 669w" sizes="(max-width: 807px) 100vw, 807px" /></p>
<p>Starting with the front of the phone which two of the renders show, the Honor 20 Pro doesn&#8217;t have a notch or punch hole for the front-facing camera. It is practically all screen save for the slightly thicker lower bezel. What this means is that the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/honor">Honor</a> 20 Pro has a pop-up selfie camera, one that isn&#8217;t shown in any of these promotional images.</p>
<p>Coming to the rear which is the part that differs from the other images we have seen, the Honor 20 Pro is shown with a quad camera setup. There is no square-shaped periscope zoom lens as seen in the leaked renders. However, only three of the sensors are housed together. The fourth doesn&#8217;t flank the camera housing on the right but sits right underneath just like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/lenovo-z6-pro/">Lenovo Z6 Pro</a>. What actually flanks the sensors is the LED flash and laser focus module.</p>
<p>[envira-gallery id=&#8221;251985&#8243;]</p>
<p>The promo images show the device in red, pale purple, ice blue, gradient neon pink, and acid green. Some of these colors are pretty unusual which makes us doubt the authenticity of these images. Not only that, the LED flash on the renders take on the color of the phone which is not only unusual but doesn&#8217;t make any sense.</p>

<p>Looking at all the designs we have seen so far, the similarities between them are the number of cameras and the absence of a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The design of the cameras itself and the design of the display is what differs.</p>

While we wait, the company&#8217;s CMO, Xu Qi Chase has shared a live photo of the device. The image highlights the phone&#8217;s full-screen display.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-251946" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Realme-X-live-photo.jpg?x10805" alt="Realme X live photo" width="5472" height="3648" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Realme-X-live-photo.jpg 5472w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Realme-X-live-photo-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Realme-X-live-photo-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Realme-X-live-photo-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Realme-X-live-photo-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Realme-X-live-photo-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Realme-X-live-photo-630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Realme-X-live-photo-1920x1280.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 5472px) 100vw, 5472px" /></p>
<p>The Realme X won&#8217;t have a notch or thick bezels like any of its predecessors. The bezels have been slimmed down for a bezel-less appearance, save for the chin which is just a little bit thicker than the rest. Since the top bezel is too thin to house a camera, the Realme X has adopted the pop-up selfie camera design. Sadly, the image doesn&#8217;t show the camera.</p>
<p>One thing the photo does show is a confirmation of the launch date. The date on the phone is May 15, the same as the release date. It also confirms the time which is 1500hrs.</p>
<p>The Realme X uses an OLED display with curved corners. It is not the sharpest out there but it isn&#8217;t bad either. Based on TENAA images, we know it doesn&#8217;t have a fingerprint scanner on the back which means there is a sensor buried under the display. <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/realme">Realme</a> says the phone has a screen-to-body ratio of 91.2%.</p>
<p>The phone has its power button on the right while the volume buttons are on the left. The picture doesn&#8217;t show the bottom so we can&#8217;t see the ports and speakers.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">READ MORE:</span> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/02/realme-2-pro-gets-massive-price-cut-across-offline-and-online-stores-in-india/">Realme 2 Pro gets massive price cut across offline and online stores in India</a></strong><span id="more-251941"></span></p>
<p>The Realme X was originally reported to be a Snapdragon 855 phone but a new leak revealed the phone is powered by the 8nm Snapdragon 730 processor. There is no evidence backing up any of the two reports. The Youth Edition, on the other hand, is said to be a rebrand of the Realme 3 Pro for the Chinese market.</p>

A new leak has revealed the Chinese giant&#8217;s upcoming Huawei Y9 Prime will also have a pop-up selfie camera&#8230;..and three rear cameras. The leak includes a poster taken at a store, as well as hands-on images of the phone. It also reveals its specs.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-251361" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-poster.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 poster" width="1606" height="1913" /></p>
<p>The front of the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 shares a similar design to that of the P Smart Z. Save for the extra camera on the back of the former, both devices can pass for the same even though they have different names which actually isn&#8217;t unusual for certain Huawei devices.</p>
<p>According to the source of the hands-on photos, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 has nearly the same specs as the P Smart Z. The photos also show it has a similar two-tone finish on the back.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-251363" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-hands-on-image.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 hands-on image" width="595" height="397" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-hands-on-image.jpg 595w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-hands-on-image-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 595px) 100vw, 595px" /></p>
<p>So you get a 6.59-inch display with an FHD+ resolution and a 91.006% screen-to-body ratio. There is a Kirin 710F under the hood paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The selfie camera is a 16MP f/2.2 sensor while the triple rear cameras include a 16MP f/1.8 sensor, an 8MP f/2.4 sensor with an ultra-wide angle lens, and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. The cameras are arranged vertically on the left with two sensors sharing the same housing while the third is housed separately.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_251362" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-251362" style="width: 695px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-251362 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-hands-on-image-b.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 vs OPPO F11 Pro vs Vivo V15 Pro" width="695" height="463" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-hands-on-image-b.jpg 695w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-hands-on-image-b-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Huawei-Y9-Prime-2019-hands-on-image-b-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-251362" class="wp-caption-text">Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 vs OPPO F11 Pro vs Vivo V15 Pro</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>There is also a 4,000mAh battery that charges via USB Type-C and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The rumored price is said to be under $300 which is cheaper than the retail price of the P Smart Z (€279/~$313). We don&#8217;t know how that will work out for Huawei unless it doesn&#8217;t plan to sell the Y9 Prime 2019 in the same markets it will sell the P Smart Z.</p>

<p>There is no info on a release date and availability but it should launch very soon seeing as there are already posters in stores and someone has gotten his hands on a unit. The upcoming phone will be an upper mid-range device with some pretty interesting features such as a pop-up selfie camera.</p>
<p>The phone already showed up on TENAA about a week ago baring all its specs, and now Master Lu&#8217;s benchmark result has confirmed the processor that powers it.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-239976" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Vivo-X27-Master-Lu-benchmark-result.jpg?x10805" alt="Vivo X27 Master Lu benchmark result" width="563" height="2048" /></p>
<p>The benchmark result shows the Vivo X27 (V1829A) will be powered by Qualcomm&#8217;s Snapdragon 710 processor which is clocked at 2208MHz (2.2GHz). The chipset will be paired with 8GB of RAM, and according to the TENAA listing, this is the only RAM variant. Its built-in storage will be 128GB or 256GB. The benchmark result also confirms the 6.39-inch display has a 2340 x 1080 resolution.</p>
<p>The Vivo X27 scored 87,086 points in the CPU test, 55,235 points in the GPU test and 38,920 and 25,390 points in the memory test and storage test respectively. Its total score is 206,631 points which put it in the “high-end” category according to Master Lu&#8217;s grading.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-239977" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Vivo-X27-official-render.jpg?x10805" alt="Vivo X27 official render" width="690" height="1227" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Vivo-X27-official-render.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Vivo-X27-official-render-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Vivo-X27-official-render-576x1024.jpg 576w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>Apart from the benchmark result, an official render of the Vivo X27 has also surfaced online that shows the front of the phone, its pop-up selfie camera, and the triple rear cameras on its back.</p>
<p>The 16MP selfie camera slides out from the right side of the phone&#8217;s frame. The bezels around the sides are pretty slim and of equal sizes and there is a small slit in the frame for the speaker.</p>
<p>It is also nice to see that the triple rear cameras are flush with the rest of the body. In between the first camera and the second is the LED flash. There is no fingerprint scanner on the back as it is buried beneath the display.</p>

<p>TENAA has also updated its listings with images that show the same blue variant in the press render above. The images confirm the Vivo X27 will come with a dedicated button on the side for its Jovi AI assistant.</p>

That is still pretty far away but you don&#8217;t have to wait that long to know what it will look like.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-239193" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/OnePlus-7-3D-render.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus 7 3D render" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/OnePlus-7-3D-render.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/OnePlus-7-3D-render-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/OnePlus-7-3D-render-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/OnePlus-7-3D-render-1024x576.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></p>
<p>Steve Hemmerstoffer, the popular leaker that goes by the Twitter handle <em>@OnLeaks</em> has released 3D renders and a 360° video of the next <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus</a> flagship phone. This time, he has partnered with Indian tech blog, <em>Pricebaba</em>.</p>
<p>A few months ago, a live photo of a device said to be the OnePlus 7 was posted on the web. It showed the phone with an edge-to-edge display without a notch or punch hole. It was reported to have a slider design which means the selfie camera and a couple of other sensors are behind the screen.</p>
<p>[envira-gallery id=&#8221;239180&#8243;]</p>
<p>These renders do confirm that the OnePlus 7 does have a bezel-less display but not a slider design. Instead, it has a <strong>pop-up selfie camera</strong> just like the Vivo NEX and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-v15-pro/">Vivo V15 Pro</a>. The selfie camera slides out of the left side of the frame. The OnePlus 7 isn&#8217;t totally bezel-less as it has a bit of bezel at the bottom of its <strong>6.5-inch display</strong>.</p>
<p>On the back, the OnePlus 7 sports a triple camera setup which is arranged vertically. In between the second and third sensor is the laser focus module. The camera housing is raised and an LED sensor sits outside the setup. There is no fingerprint scanner on the back which means the in-display fingerprint scanner on the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-6t/"> OnePlus 6T</a> is making a comeback. The back of the phone is covered in glass. Unfortunately, it will not have support for wireless charging.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/is3-pXlrTyw?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>The right side of the phone is home to the alert slider and power button while the volume rocker is on the left. There is a USB type-C port at the bottom which is flanked by a speaker grille on one side.</p>

<p>The OnePlus 7 will come with a Snapdragon 855 processor. It is also expected to come with Warp Charge 30 fast charging.</p>

Both series are now sold in the same markets these days. However, it appears OPPO may revert back to the old system based on this poster of the OPPO R19.</p>
<p>The OPPO R19 in the poster below looks like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/08/oppo-f11-pro-renders-leaked-with-32mp-pop-up-selfie-camera-launching-in-early-march/">OPPO F11 Pro which leaked yesterday</a>. The R19 is clearly launching in China and we know the F11 Pro is making its way to India in early March.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-235746 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/OPPO-R19-Render.jpg?x10805" alt="OPPO R19 poster" width="1105" height="1953" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/OPPO-R19-Render.jpg 1105w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/OPPO-R19-Render-170x300.jpg 170w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/OPPO-R19-Render-768x1357.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/OPPO-R19-Render-579x1024.jpg 579w" sizes="(max-width: 1105px) 100vw, 1105px" /></p>
<p>The front of OPPO R19 has shaved off bezels but there is a thin cutout in the top frame for the speaker. There is no notch or punch hole which means the phone has a pop-up selfie camera much like the Vivo V15 Pro. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/01/31/alleged-oppo-r19-f11-live-shots-reveal-pop-up-selfie-camera-and-notch-less-screen/">Leaked photos of the OPPO R19 from last week</a> already revealed the phone&#8217;s pop-out camera slides out from the middle.</p>
<p>On the back, the R19 has dual rear cameras with an LED flash above the sensors. All three share the same housing and are arranged vertically. They are also positioned in the middle of the device and connect to the frame. The poster says the main camera is a 48MP sensor.</p>
<p>There is no fingerprint scanner on the rear but there is also no fingerprint icon on the display but it most likely has an in-display fingerprint scanner. The OPPO R19 has a blue-purple gradient finish but should launch in other colors too.</p>

<p>There is no info on when it will be announced but we won&#8217;t be surprised if OPPO unveils it in China before the OPPO F11 Pro launches in India.</p>
