XElectron has launched the Techno (C7) Smart Home Theatre Movie HD Projector in India, a budget projector that combines flexible placement options with built-in streaming support for affordable home entertainment.

Samsung has launched the Freestyle Plus in the US market. It is a portable projector priced at $1,199.99. The accessory was announced on May 21 and is made specifically for the Nebula X1 and X1 Pro projectors. In simple terms, SpaceFlow scans the room, understands the shape of walls and objects around it, and then adjusts projected visuals so they fit naturally into the space.

The hardware itself uses a dual-camera system along with a ToF depth sensor and structured light emitter, which sounds somewhat similar to the type of sensing systems older devices like Microsoft’s Kinect used. Once connected, the accessory automatically scans the room and creates a rough 3D model of the environment. It can reportedly recognize things like doors, windows, furniture, and other obstacles before adjusting the projection accordingly.

What makes the setup more interesting is the AI integration. Through the Nebula Connect app, users can simply describe a scene they want, and the system generates visuals designed to match the room layout. Anker says users can create things like jungle-style environments, themed decorations, or animated wall effects without manually editing projection maps.

There is also a library of over 100 ready-to-use templates for holidays and events, alongside modes like AI Fusion and Free Mode for custom scenes.

Projection mapping used to require expensive software, careful calibration, and a lot of manual work, so SpaceFlow seems aimed at making the process much more approachable for casual users. Whether it actually works smoothly in everyday environments is something reviewers will probably test pretty quickly.

The pricing is also a bit more aggressive than expected. Anker says the Nebula SpaceFlow accessory will normally cost $799, but it is launching at a discounted $399 price for early buyers. It is being sold alongside the Nebula X1 series projectors, which are positioned as high-end 4K triple-laser home theater models with brightness reaching up to 3500 ANSI lumens.

Hisense has launched two new portable projectors in China under its Vidda LightGo series. Much like the Xgimi MoGo 4 Laser, these outdoor units feature a compact design and use a triple laser setup instead of standard LEDs to improve image quality on the go.

The standard model costs 3,899 yuan (about $570), while a slightly brighter Plus version is priced at 3,999 yuan (about $590). Both projectors output at a 1080p resolution, with Hisense relying on the triple laser engine to provide better color accuracy and contrast to make up for the lack of 4K.

Hisense has opened pre-orders for its XR10 4K Triple Laser Smart Projector, which was first shown at CES 2026. The model is positioned as the company’s most advanced home projector so far.

The XR10 supports 4K UHD resolution at 60Hz and can project images from 65 inches up to 300 inches. It uses a triple-laser light source that delivers up to 6,000 ANSI lumens. This level of brightness is designed to keep the image clear even with lights on. The light source is rated for up to 25,000 hours.

The projector has a 0.84 to 2.0:1 throw ratio, along with 2.39x optical zoom and lens shift. These features allow flexible placement without needing to move the unit much. Hisense has also added a seven-level iris adjustment and a 17-element glass lens system. The XR10 delivers a 6,000:1 native contrast ratio and up to 60,000:1 dynamic contrast.

For picture formats, it supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and IMAX Enhanced. It covers up to 118 percent of the BT.2020 color space, which is aimed at accurate color output.

The XR10 runs on Hisense’s VIDAA smart platform. It includes apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and Apple TV. Screen mirroring is supported through AirPlay 2 and Miracast. For connectivity, it offers Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, HDMI 2.1, HDMI 2.0, USB 3.0, and Gigabit Ethernet. It also supports eARC and CEC for easier audio setup.

Audio is handled by a built-in 2.1-channel system developed with Devialet. It includes two 8W speakers and a 15W subwoofer. The system supports Dolby Digital and DTS Virtual:X. The sound profile has also been tuned with input from the Opéra de Paris. Cooling is managed by a dual-channel liquid cooling system designed to keep temperatures stable and reduce noise.

Pricing & availability

In the US, the XR10 is priced at $6,999.99. It is currently available for pre-order at $5,299.99 with a $1,700 discount. Buyers also get a free HT Saturn 4.1.2 wireless sound system. In Europe, it is listed at £5,999 in the UK and €4,999 in Germany.

But you are getting something that can project a large image onto a wall, run streaming apps, and occasionally feel like a cinema, as long as you understand the trade-offs.

That’s really what defines this category now. Most projectors under $500 lean on 1080p resolution, portability, and smart features, while settling on just enough brightness. 

In this article, we will list out five of the best projectors you can find in 2026 with their pros and cons. 

The reality of budget home theater in 2026

Before getting into the list, it’s worth setting expectations, and is a $500 budget tier for projectors?

Yes, $500 is a budget segment for projectors. Proper home theater models can easily cost over $1000, so this sits at the lower end of the market. And that means these projectors come with trade-offs. 

At this price, brightness is the first limitation. Many portable models hover around a few hundred lumens, which means they work best in dark rooms. XGIMI Halo+

The trade-off is still brightness. At 700 ISO lumens, it’s bright enough for a dim room, though you’ll still want to pull the curtains during the day.

Lumio Arc 7

The Lumio Arc 7 is harder to categorize, partly because of its limited availability. It’s mostly sold in India, but it’s a good projector for the price nonetheless. 

The design is a vertical tower, which makes it easy to stick on a crowded nightstand. It’s a 1080p unit with 400 ANSI lumens. It’s lower than the XGIMI on paper, but Lumio uses a proprietary “Arclight Engine,” which is a fully sealed, dust-proof, and precision-aligned optical system.

It is designed to be a high-performance projection core rather than a standard, open LED light source, for long-term durability by preventing dust from creating hazy spots or color degradation on the display over time. 

The real standout here is the audio. It packs dual 8W speakers (16W total) that are genuinely impressive. If you’re a renter who doesn’t want to buy a soundbar, this is probably the best all-in-one solution on the list. It also runs a very clean version of Google TV with official Netflix support.

ViewSonic LX60HD

The ViewSonic LX60HD is the simplest option in this group. It currently retails at $249.99 in the US. The projector has 1080p Full HD resolution, 630 ANSI lumens, Google TV, native Netflix support, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and auto focus plus auto H/V keystone correction. It also projects up to a 140-inch screen and uses a sealed optical engine designed to keep dust and moisture out.

This makes the LX60HD a good fit for people who do not want to assemble a home theater from separate pieces. It has the streaming system built in, the setup tools are straightforward, and the price is low enough that it does not feel risky. 

The downside is that it is still a 630-lumen projector, so it belongs in a dim room rather than one full of daylight. But if you want a compact projector for nighttime movies, this projector is for you.

Epson EpiqVision Flex CO-W01

Unlike other projectors in this list, the Epson EpiqVision Flex is a bit different. It doesn’t try to be portable, nor does it has built-in battery. But if you plan on using your projector in a room with some ambient light, and your budget is under $500, this is the one.

It pumps out 3,000 lumens using 3LCD technology. This means the colors stay vibrant even when the room isn’t pitch black. Most cheap projectors use a single-chip DLP system that can cause a “rainbow effect.” You don’t get that here.

But there are two big trade-offs. First, the resolution is WXGA (1280×800), which is essentially 720p. In 2026, that feels a bit dated.

It can run for a couple of hours, which is enough for a movie but not much more. It’s less of a home theater projector and more of a personal screen you can move around.

The XR10 is Hisense’s new flagship Laser TV model. It appears to be a rebranded version of the Vidda C5 Boundless Master that debuted in China earlier this year. The model features the company’s advanced LPU 3.0 Digital Laser Engine and a pure RGB triple-laser light source. The projector reaches 6,000 ANSI lumens of brightness, making it suitable for both dark rooms and bright, ambient-lit environments.

Hisense has equipped the XR10 with a new IRIS system that automatically adjusts lens aperture and exposure based on lighting conditions. The projector also supports a wide optical zoom range of 0.84x to 2.0x, allowing screen sizes from 65 inches to 300 inches.

The XR10 uses 16 all-glass lenses to improve light transmittance and thermal stability. It delivers a 6000:1 native contrast ratio and covers a wide BT.2020 color gamut. Hisense claims a speckle suppression rate of just 6 percent to reduce visual noise.

The projector includes a four-camera and dual TOF intelligent sensing system. With AI-assisted auto adjustments, it supports ±15° side-projection correction and offers vertical and horizontal lens shift. It also features an industry-first fully sealed microchannel liquid cooling system that maintains thermal efficiency without loud fan noise.

PX4-Pro

The PX4-Pro is a new ultra-short-throw (UST) laser projector aimed at consumers looking for theater-grade performance in everyday living spaces. It projects up to 200 inches diagonally from a close distance and delivers 3,500 ANSI lumens of brightness with a 4K resolution.

This model continues the design language of the PX3-Pro and features Hisense’s TriChroma laser technology along with IMAX Enhanced certification. The IRIS system helps achieve a maximum contrast ratio of 6000:1, while support for low latency caters to gaming use.

Hisense has not confirmed pricing or release dates for either model, but both will be on display at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Central Hall, Booth 17704.

Jmgo has launched the O3 in the Chinese market, a new tricolor laser ultra-short-throw projector designed for compact living spaces. The projector is priced at 3,749 yuan ($530) and is now available on JD.com.

The projector supports a native 1080p resolution and delivers 1400 ISO lumens of brightness using Jmgo’s pure tricolor laser light source and a DLPC8424 driver chip. It uses an ultra-short-throw optical system with a 0.18:1 throw ratio, allowing it to project a 100-inch image from just 22 centimeters away from the wall.

The O3 covers 110% of the BT.2020 color gamut. It achieves a Delta E value of less than 1 for color accuracy. The image quality is enhanced by a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, MEMC motion compensation, and AI dynamic black levels. Jmgo has included features such as automatic focus, keystone correction, screen alignment, and wall color calibration for easier setup.

The projector supports screen sizes from 60 to 120 inches. It targets casual and gaming use with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support and dedicated game modes. Jmgo has equipped the O3 with HDMI 2.1 ports, including one with eARC, along with USB 2.0, DC input, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth for stable connectivity.

The audio setup includes two 10W symmetrical speakers with support for Dolby Audio and DTS decoding. The system is tuned for stronger low-frequency output and can reach down to 40Hz. The projector also enables a dynamic lyric wall feature when paired with Kugou Music.

The O3 runs Bonfire OS 7 with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It integrates with the Xiaomi smart home ecosystem and supports voice commands via the Xiao Ai assistant.

Jmgo has designed the projector to operate at a low 26dB noise level. It consumes 65 watts during use. The device weighs 2.4 kilograms and measures 250 x 219 x 107 mm, making it suitable for standard TV cabinets.

BenQ has launched two new 4K smart home projectors in India: the TK705i and TK705STi. The projectors support Google TV and feature low-latency gaming, high brightness output, and advanced auto-setup tools.

The TK705i is priced at ₹1,99,990 ($2,224), while the short-throw TK705STi is priced at ₹2,25,000 ($2,502). Both models are available through BenQ’s authorised retail and online channels starting this month.

Both models support flexible installation, including ceiling mounts and inverted projection.

BenQ has integrated a full Google TV interface into both projectors. It lets you stream content directly from Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video without relying on external devices. The projectors support Google Assistant and work with the BenQ SmartRemote app, allowing control via smartphone without relying on Wi-Fi.

Both models include 8-way Smart Image Adaptation features such as auto focus, auto keystone correction, digital zoom, screen fit, obstacle avoidance, and eye protection. These functions help users set up the projector quickly without manual adjustments.

Both projectors support HDMI 2.1 with eARC and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM). BenQ claims an input lag of just 5ms at 4K 60Hz, making the projectors suitable for gaming on consoles like PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch. The projectors also include USB-C ports with 30W Power Delivery, allowing devices to charge while in use.

BenQ has quietly added a new ultra-short-throw laser projector to its pro lineup, and it’s a bit of a standout. The LU895UST packs 5,000 ANSI lumens into a body that’s noticeably smaller than most projectors in the same brightness class.

The basics: it’s a WUXGA laser model with a 0.253:1 throw ratio, so you can blow up an image to around 200 inches while keeping the unit just a few centimeters from the wall. BenQ is pitching it at simulation setups, immersive exhibits, and higher-end education spaces, where big, bright visuals matter but there’s no room for a long-throw projector.

Color coverage hits 93% of Rec.709, and there are dedicated picture modes for Simulation, HDR10, and sRGB. BenQ also claims a 3,000,000:1 FOFO contrast ratio — standard marketing math, but typical for laser projectors in this range.

Because many of the use cases involve multi-projector blends, the LU895UST comes “blending ready,” with 2D Keystone correction and extra alignment tools to help stitch images together cleanly. Connectivity is what you’d expect: two HDMI 2.0b ports (HDCP 2.2), RJ45 for network control, USB-A, and a basic 10W speaker for when you don’t want to hook up an external setup.

The footprint is one of the more interesting bits. At 327 × 328.3 × 131.6 mm, it’s compact enough that installers won’t have to fight for ceiling space or wall clearance — no small thing in museums or small simulators. The LU895UST is already listed for €3,999 or $4,799.

For venues that need a huge picture in a bright room without sacrificing space, this model looks like one of BenQ’s more practical launches in a while — and possibly the new reference point for compact, high-lumen UST projectors.

BenQ has launched the BR9708, a purpose-built 4K projector designed for theme parks, immersive attractions, escape rooms, and other themed environments that need accurate color and strong contrast.

The BR9708 is built for low-light setups. It offers true 4K UHD with 8.3 million pixels, 100% DCI-P3 color coverage, and a 1200:1 native contrast ratio. This allows the projector to produce realistic skin tones, detailed textures, and deeper blacks without using filters or complicated calibration. It is meant to replace older lamp-based and low-contrast projectors that are still common in ride systems, simulators, and projection-mapped attractions.

BenQ has tuned the projector for accuracy through a seven-point factory color calibration with Delta E below 2. This helps multiple units match each other when used in blended projection setups. The BR9708 also includes a blending-ready feature that adjusts color, gamma, and alignment automatically for multi-projector installations.

The projector offers flexible placement options. It supports 50 percent vertical lens shift, 35 percent horizontal lens shift, centered optics, and full 360-degree installation. These options make it easier to fit the BR9708 into tight spaces or unusual mounting positions often found in themed environments.

Leica’s Cine Play 1 Plus is a laser projector with 3,500 CVIA lumens brightness and 110 percent BT.2020 color gamut.

The premium projector has a 25,000 hour operational life for its RGB laser light source and uses the Leica Summicron zoom lens. It is equipped with the MT9655 chipset and houses 10W stereo speakers as well. The projector has a built-in tilt stand, although users can also put it on top of an optional stand. Leica’s new Cine Play 1 Plus runs on the VIDAA OS that brings popular streaming platforms like Netflix.

Connectivity options include an HDMI 2.1 port, USB, and an Ethernet jack. The brand has just announced the Cine Play 1 Plus in China for 11,888 Yuan, which is roughly around 1,670 US Dollars. Buying it with the optional stand bumps the price to 13,887 Yuan (about 1,950 US Dollars).
