Xiaomi recently announced their Q1 plans for the global rollout of Android 12 based MIUI 13. Yesterday, the update was announced for the Redmi 10 making it the first budget device to get the MIUI 13, and now, the Redmi Note 8 (2021) and the Note 10 Pro have also been issued the Android 12 upgrade.

Redmi Note 8 (2021) MIUI 13

The update carries firmware version V13.0.2.0.SCUMIXM for the Redmi Note 8 (2021) and is rolling out the “Global” region. The full ROM is sized 2.7GB and comes with the January security patch. Being marked as a “stable beta” means that it is yet to roll out widely, but once declared bug-free, more users should be getting it.

The official changelog reveals that other than bringing the latest MIUI version to the device, the update also brings better optimization for some apps and overall improvement in system stability.

Redmi Note 10 Pro MIUI 13

The Redmi Note 10 Pro also gets the MIUI 13 update, however, it is only limited to Europen regions for now. The update comes with version number V13.0.3.0.SKFEUXM and is rolling out to devices in the EEA (European Economic Area) region. The update carries a size of 3.3GB and similar to the Note 8 update, it is marked as “stable beta.” The update will be released to the general consumers once it is declared bug-free

The official changelog doesn’t have much to say about the contents of the update and touts optimized system performance and improved system security and stability which may indicate in the inclusion of the January security patch.

Users of the Redmi 10 Pro outside Europe are also expected to soon receive this update. As for Indian users, they can expect this update to hit their Redmi Note 10 Pro Max devices the company has rebranded the Redmi Note 10 Pro in the Indian market.

Redmi Note 8 2021

The Redmi Note 8 2021 was one of the devices announced last week. The refreshed phone which originally launched in 2019 now comes with a new processor and the latest version of Android. There is no price tag yet but it will be sold in Europe.

Fuchsia OS is official, rolls out to the Nest Hub

Fuchsia OS, the operating system in development by Google since 2016 is now official and the tech giant is pushing it out as an update to the first-gen Nest Hub which originally runs Cast OS. Google has bigger plans for the operating system but it is starting with its IoT devices, so expect to see the new OS power a lot more devices soon.

US drops Xiaomi from its trade blacklist

The United States has had no other choice than to Xiaomi has officially been removed from the US trade blacklist following a ruling from a US court. The company had taken the US Govt. to court following its addition to a list of companies designated as Communist Chinese Military Companies. The court has now ruled in favor of the Chinese tech giant.

Lenovo and Samsung’s new tablets battle it out

Both Lenovo and Samsung announced new tablets last week. The latter announced the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021, Xiaoxin Pad Plus, and the YOGA Pad Pro while Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S7 FE and the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite.

Arm’s new CPU cores are powerful and boast a new architecture

Arm’s CPUs and GPUs are the basis for a lot of mobile processors. Last week, it announced new ones that are not only powerful but also mark a big shift in architecture as they drop the 2011 Arm v8 for the new Arm v9.

The new CPUs include the Cortex-X2 performance core, the Cortex-A710 big core which succeeds the Cortex-A78, and the Cortex-A510 which succeeds the Cortex-A55 that was announced back in 2018. As you can see, Arm has switched from two digits to three for its big core and little cores.

For the new GPUs, we have the Mali-G710 and Mali-G610 for high-end chips and the Mali-G510 and Mali-G310, successors to the Mali-G57 and Mali-G31 for budget and mid-range chips. All of this GPUs are available with different cores, so that will play a role in their performance when they begin to appear in chipsets.

OPPO Reno6 series

The Reno6 series made its debut in China last week. The three devices come with high refresh rate displays, MediaTek and Qualcomm processors, and support for 65W fast charging across board.

Realme could switch back to ColorOS

When Realme first began shipping phones, the devices ran ColorOS. Along the line, it announced its own UI called realme UI, which is actually a fork of OPPO’s ColorOS. Now a recent survey carried out by the brand realme could switch back to ColorOS for its smartphones, though with some features exclusive to its own phones.

Redmagic 6R is a more affordable gaming flagship

Nubia’s RedMagic gaming smartphone brand announced a new model for its RedMagic 6 series last week. The RedMagic 6R is a proper flagship in its own right with its AMOLED display, 144Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 888 chip, and support for 55W fast charging, but it is more affordable than its siblings with a starting price of under ~$450.

A few days ago, Xiaomi had teased a new mid-range smartphone and now the company has officially launched the device — Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 2021. This is an upgraded version of the original Redmi Note 8 that was launched in 2019 and has sold more than 25 million units globally since its launch.

The smartphone features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ LCD screen offering 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. Underneath, the device is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset with a Mali-G52 2EEMC2 GPU.

It packs 4GB LPDDR4x RAM with two internal storage options — 64GB and 128GB and has a microSD card slot, allowing users to expand the storage capacity up to 256GB.

In the camera department, there’s a quad-camera setup on the back that packs a 48-megapixel Samsung GM1 sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front side, the phone features a 13-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

Connectivity options on the device include Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.2, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C port. The phone, which is P2i coated for splash resistance, has a fingerprint sensor and IR sensor.

The device is running the Android 11 operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own MIUI 12.5 custom user interface on top. It is powered by a 4,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging and comes with a 22.5W charger in the box.

The Redmi Note 8 2021 comes in three color options — Neptune Blue, Moonlight White, and Space Black. Xiaomi has not yet revealed the pricing details for the smartphone but the device has been listed on Mi.com global site and should soon be available for purchase in European and Russian markets.

Xiaomi (read Redmi) has announced that it will launch a 2021 version of the Redmi Note 8. It has already confirmed a few details such as the processor as well as the design which has remained unchanged.

The Redmi Note 8 was a success according to Xiaomi’s stats. Last week, it reported it has sold over 25 million units globally which is an impressive figure for a mid-range device and a significant part of the 200 million units of the entire Redmi Note series sold.

Last week, Xiaomi confirmed the existence of a new smartphone called the Redmi Note 8 2021. The Chinese firm has released new tweets to confirm some of the key features of the smartphone.

In the below-shown poster, the Redmi Note 8 2021 can be seen sporting a waterdrop notch display on the front, and its rear features a vertical camera system. Like the original Redmi Note 8 phone from 2019, its newer version has a 6.3-inch LCD display and a 48-megapixel quad-camera system. Rumors have it that the main snapper will be joined by an ultrawide lens, a macro camera, and a depth assist lens.

It appears that the Redmi Note 8 2021 will be available in at least two colors such as Neptune Blue and Moonlight While like the original model. A fingerprint scanner can be seen on the backside of the smartphone. The Chinese firm has confirmed that the Helio G85 chipset will be present under the hood of the Note 8 2021. To recollect, the older version was equipped with the Snapdragon 665 chipset.

The Redmi Note 8 2021 was recently spotted at the FCC certification platform. It revealed that the phone will ship with MIUI 12.5 and a 4,000mAh battery. It is speculated that the phone will carry support for 22.5W fast charging. It may come with support for a 120Hz refresh rate, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB / 128 GB of storage.

The original Redmi Note 8 came with specs like a 6.3-inch FHD+ IPS LCD screen, SD665 chi, up to 6 GB of RAM, up to 128 GB of storage, a 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad-camera system, a 13-megapixel selfie camera, and a 4,000mAh battery with 18W charging support.

It is unclear whether Xiaomi will be announcing the Redmi Note 8 2021 in May or June. However, what appears to be certain is that the company will continue to release more teasers to reveal its other features.

Recent reports have revealed that the Redmi Note 8 2021 that has a model number of M1908C3JGG has already passed Bluetooth SIG and FCC certifications. These certifications revealed that it will come with features like Bluetooth 5.2, MIUI 12.5, and a 4,000mAh battery.

Rumors surrounding it have claimed that it has an LCD panel that carries support for FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Helio G85 SoC by MediaTek is expected to fuel the smartphone with 4 GB of RAM. The handset could be available in storage options like 64 GB and 128 GB.

The Note 8 2021 is likely to sport 48-megapixel quad rear cameras. The big battery of the phone could be coupled with 22.5W rapid charging. Only a few markets are expected to receive the Note 8 2021, and India does not seem to be one of them.

The Redmi Note 8 is one of the most popular models in the Redmi Note series. It is so popular that Xiaomi is bringing it back this year with upgraded internals. Yes, you read that right – the Redmi Note 8 2021 is coming.

A tweet by the official Xiaomi account has confirmed earlier reports that there is a new version of the Redmi Note 8 coming, and it will launch as the Redmi Note 8 2021. This is unusual considering that the Redmi Note 8 has already received two successors – the Redmi Note 9 and the Redmi Note 10 – and both are fantastic devices. There is not yet an official launch date for the Redmi Note 8 2021 but we will let you know once we do.

In the tweet, Xiaomi revealed that it has sold over 25 million units of the original Redmi Note 8 phone globally. While that is a lot considering that Xiaomi revealed earlier today that it has sold over 200 million Redmi Note phones since the series was established up until February 24, 2021, we are not sure if the 25 million units include sales of the Redmi Note 8T which is practically the NFC version of the Redmi Note 8.

It has been reported that the Redmi Note 8 2021 will have an LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a waterdrop notch. It will swap the Snapdragon 665 chipset for MediaTek’s Helio G85, have 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and pack a 4000mAh battery with support for22.5W fast charging. It will also run MIUI 12.5 out of the box. The camera specs are currently unknown but there are speculations it may not differ from the original.

Xiaomi is reportedly working on a phone named the Redmi Note 8 (2021) for select markets. A variant of the phone with model number M1908C3JGG was recently spotted at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification site. The same device has now received approval from the Bluetooth SIG authority. The listing yet again reveals that it is a new device.

The Bluetooth SIG listing of the M1908C3JGG mentions it as the Redmi Note 8. The older Redmi Note 8, which debuted in 2019 carried support for Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. However, its newer version that has appeared at Bluetooth SIG is equipped with Bluetooth 5.2. Hence, it appears to be the 2021 edition of the Redmi Note 8. At present, there is no official information available on its existence.

Rumors surrounding it have claimed that the Redmi Note 8 (2021) could be sporting an IPS LCD waterdrop notch screen that offers a 120Hz refresh rate. The device could be equipped with the Helio G85 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. It may arrive in the market in storage editions such as 64 GB and 128 GB.

The Redmi Note 8 (2021) could be powered by a 4,000mAh battery that may support 22.5W rapid charging. For photography, it may feature a quad-camera system headlined by a 48-megapixel camera. The FCC listing of the Redmi Note 8 (2021) will come loaded with the latest MIUI 12.5.

According to new info that surfaced last week, it appears Redmi plans to launch a new version of the phone with new specs. This new version has been seen at the FCC and is expected to launch as the Redmi Note 8 (2021). It is also expected to have a high refresh rate display, a MediaTek chipset, and a 4000mAh battery.
