In a recent MySmartPrice report, tipster Mukul Sharma has revealed that the Chinese manufacturer has a new smart TV in the pipeline for the Indian market. While the tipster doesn’t mention any specific date, he has hinted that we can expect the new TV to launch in a couple of months i.e March-April.

The upcoming Realme smart TV will also come with a Realme Smart TV Bluetooth voice remote, which will be in black color option. Other than this, no information on the smart TV is available as of yet. But with the inclusion of Bluetooth voice remort, we can expect the smart TV to support voice assistants like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

It will also be interesting to see the price point at which this upcoming TV is introduced by the company as Realme currently offers smart TVs ranging from 32-inch HD TV to 55-inch SLED 4K smart TV.

The company released the TV Neo 32” back in September 2021, which is an aggressively priced TV at Rs. 14,999 ($200). However, it lacks a lot of features that are present in other smart TVs in that segment like Android TV OS and Bluetooth connectivity. So if the upcoming smart TV is to be priced in the sub-20K segment, hopefully, the brand will include these essential features this time around.

Vice President, realme, and realme India CEO, Madhav Sheth has told to IANS(via Zee Business) that the company is looking to bring more than 100 AIoT and lifestyle products in 2021. These include the already explored TWS, Smart TVs, Smart Sockets in addition to newer ones like Smart Bulb, Trimmers.

Madhav adds that the TWS will extend to new generations of realme Buds Air, realme Buds Q, and newer editions of Smart TVs. If we recall, the company recently launched a Master Edition of the Buds Air Pro and a second-gen Buds(Buds Q2) is already on the radar of leaks. Looking at the market perspective, a recent counterpoint report shows realme has beaten popular JBL to occupy the Top-3 position(as of Q3 2020) in India.

EDITOR’S PICK: Realme seeks to become one of the top 5 brands in Taiwan

Coming back, Madhav says the company is finishing 2020 on a successful note with over 190,000 units of smart TVs and 2 million AIoT products sales during the Festive season. Besides, the company is no slouch in the smartwatch category either. From a nowhere to be seen brand towards the beginning to emerging as the No.1 Watch Brand in India, the company has seen it all.

That said, we are going to witness a multifaceted realme next year as per Madhav’s statement. In the runup to top the charts in every category, he says the company is planning to expand hybrid offline channels(eg. to Pharmacies) for products like Toothbrush, Suitcase.

Upon heavier demand, it is also considering to include Smart Speakers, Air Purifiers, Electric Juice Jar, ACs to the portfolio. Anyway, let’s wish the company good luck for a successful 2021 outing.

MediaTek not only makes processors for phones but also make processors for products like Blu-Ray players, smart TVs, routers, and smart speakers including those from the Amazon Echo line. Today, the semiconductor company unveiled a new processor – the MT5670 – for smart TVs.

The announcement comes just a day before it appears in its first product – the OnePlus TV. Yes, the OnePlus TV which will be unveiled in India tomorrow will be powered by the new MT5670 chipset. Leaked specs of the TV as well as a Google Play Developer console page revealed that the TV will be powered by the processor.

The new chipset, which was unveiled in New York, has four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz and an ARM Mali-G51 GPU. MediaTek says the new processor will “deliver true studio-quality video”, and automatically adjust sharpness and quality using facial and scene recognition with its AI picture quality (AI PQ) technology. It also supports MiraVision technology and MDDi de-interlace solution for smooth picture quality. Below is a full list of features of the new processor:

Android TV 9 support

Worldwide multi-standard analog TV demodulator

ATSC/DVB-T/DVB-C/ISDB-T demodulators

UHD@60Hz direct drive

3D graphic support OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0/3.1/3.2

A transport de-multiplexer

A multi-standard video decoder (including VP9)

Rich format audio codec

H.264 encoder

HDMI 2.0 receiver with 3D support

MediaTek adds that the MT5670 will be available globally in smart TVs launching this month. So there is a possibility we may see it in another product other than the OnePlus TV later this month.

The MediaTek MT5670 is less powerful than Amlogic’s new T972 processor which powers Xiaomi’s new Mi Full Screen TV Pro. The 12nm Amlogic processor has the more powerful and efficient Cortex-A55 cores (quad) clocked at 1.9GHz as against, the MT5670’s Cortex-A53 cores. However, the Amlogic chipset has the entry-level Mali-G31 GPU while the MediaTek chipset has the mid-range Mali-G51 GPU.

It appears they are not the only smartphone manufacturer expanding their portfolio. A new report has revealed that Huawei and its Honor sub-brand will launch smart TVs this year.

Huawei and Honor plan to release smart TVs this year

According to the source, Honor will launch its first smart TV in April while Huawei will launch its first TV in the second half of the year. Huawei’s smart TVs won’t be affordable ones like Xiaomi’s but mid-range and high-end ones. They are also expected to start from 65-inches and up. Honor-branded TVs are expected to be cheaper and available online only.

The report says Huawei already has a team of about 200 – 300 people for its TV division which is under its Internet of Things Department. However, its plan isn’t just to release TVs but to create a demand for 5G communication. Huawei believes the popularity of 4K and 8K TVs will increase demand for 4K and 8K content which is best provided via a reliable and fast internet connection which 5G will provide. And since Huawei is also known for its network business, this is a win-win situation for it.

It is also said that Huawei is trying to create an ecosystem of products that are connected to each other. With TVs being more or less the largest electronics in households, they are expected to be the main hub uniting all other smart home devices.
