The LG X2 (2019) has just been announced in South Korea, and will debut as the LG K30 (2019) globally. The smartphone is the successor to the LG X2 (2018) that launched in June last year. The highlights of the 2019 X2 are tall aspect ratio, dedicated Google Assistant button. The device is designed following the MIL-STD 810G, the military standards followed by the US Department of Defense. This certifies the durability of the device through a series of six challenges, including high and low temperature, humidity, heat shock, vibration and shock. LG Electronics CEO and Mobile Marketing Manager Oh Seung-Jin said, “The device will be a good option for customers that prefer functionality over extravagance”.

The LG X2 / K30  (2019) features a 5.45-inch HD+ FullVision display with a 720 x 1440 pixel resolution. The smartphone is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of native storage. The internal memory is expandable up to 2TB with a microSD card.

The LG X2 (2019) gets a 13-megapixel primary camera with PDAF for quicker focus, and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. The device draws power from a 3,000 mAh battery. Connectivity options present on the device include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It features a polycarbonate body that measures 147 x 71.5 x 8.2mm and weighs 147 grams.

The LG X2 (2019) is priced at KRW 198,000 (~$163), and is available in a New Aurora Black color. The three leading cellular operators of South Korea will begin the sales of the X2 (2019) from Aug. 9. LG has confirmed that the X2 will bear the K30 moniker in Europe, including Poland, Germany and Italy, and North America. The device will replace the existing LG K30 (2018) in the global markets, which launched back in May-June 2018 at a similar price tag.

In March, Xiaomi had launched the Redmi Go as its first Android Go phone. The smartphone that came with 8 GB of RAM was introduced with a price tag of Rs. 4,499. Today, the Chinese firm has introduced a 16 GB storage version of the Redmi Go in the country with a price tag of Rs. 4,799 Yuan (~$69).

Apart from modified internal storage, the 16 GB Redmi Go features the same specs as its 8 GB variant. The new model is now available for purchase through Mi.com, Flipkart and Mi Home stores.

Xiaomi Redmi Go Specifications and Features

The polycarbonate bodied Xiaomi Redmi Go is fitted with a 5-inch display that carries support for HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. It offers an aspect ratio of 16:9. The Snapdragon 435 SoC that includes a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor is present under the hood of the device along with 1 GB of RAM.

The Redmi Go now comes in 8 GB and 16 GB storage choices and its loaded with Android Oreo (Go edition). There is a microSD card slot on the device for more storage. For photography, its rear shell is equipped with an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone lacks a fingerprint sensor. There is a 3,000mAh battery inside the phone. It includes other features like dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 3.5mm audio jack.

Today, Xiaomi announced the latest super low-end smartphone in its Redmi Note series — the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A. We have already covered the launch in detail and you can read more about the phone from here. But here, let’s talk about the Redmi Note 5A variants. There are two major variants announced, a 2GB + 16GB model and a 3GB + 32GB model. The third variant just adds an extra RAM and storage — 4GB + 64GB to the 3GB RAM version.

So, what are the differences between Redmi Note 5A’s Low vs High version? As a matter of fact, quite a lot! In fact, given the differences, you can even consider them to be totally different models rather than just variants. It’s like the Redmi 4A vs Redmi 4, but instead of treating the two as different models, here Xiaomi has differentiated them as variants.

Huawei has officially announced the Enjoy 7 mid-range smartphone today in China. The Huawei Enjoy 7 is the latest model in the Huawei Enjoy series, a direct successor of the Enjoy 6 launched around December last year. The model is also a sibling of the Enjoy 7 Plus which made its grand entry barely three months back.

Design & Specifications- Huawei Enjoy 7

The Huawei Enjoy 7 comes with a design which looks rather similar to that of it predecessor when viewed from the front but at the back, there is a slightly different design. The device comes with an all-metal body and is smooth and well-rounded edges. The body is also ultra-thin and has a smooth texture fabricated using sandblasting process. The Enjoy 7 comes with a rear fingerprint sensor which is touted to unlock the device in just 0.5 seconds. The device also comes with a unique rear camera design which could get you confused that it packs a dual rear camera. But no, there is only one camera up there but the camera and flash are aligned in a horizontal plane located at the left corner bordered just like is seen on dual camera phones.

Now let us take a look at the specifications of the Enjoy 7. The Huawei mid-range sports a 5.0-inch 720p display with 2.5D curved glass covering the display. The display comes with a special professional eye protection mode and can effectively filter Blu-ray. The Huawei Enjoy 7 is powered by a Snapdragon 425 processor backed by 3GB RAM with 32GB of storage. There is also a lower version with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage and both storages can be expanded up to 128GB. The mobile device also provides F2FS intelligent file management system, which would allow users sort the system trash and thus help save memory.

On the camera aspect, the Huawei Enjoy 7 sports a 13MP rear camera with PDAF support, slow motion, HDR, voice shutter, self-timer, and other functions. The Enjoy 7 also features a 5MP front-facing selfie camera. In addition, the Enjoy 7 gets its juice from a 3,020mAh battery and the device uses a smart electricity 5.0 technology which keeps the battery long lasting.

The Huawei Enjoy 7 comes in black, red, blue, streamer gold, champagne gold, and pink. As for the prices, the Huawei Enjoy 7 base version – 2GB + 16GB storage is priced at 899 yuan (~$132) while the higher version with 3GB +32GB storage is priced at 1099 yuan (~$161). Following the announcement of the Xiaomi Mi 5C came the unveiling of the Xiaomi Redmi 4X. The launch of the Redmi 4X should not come as a surprise to those familiar with Xiaomi. It was already obvious the Redmi 4 will get the X-treatment after the Redmi Note 4X was announced.

With the addition of this new phone, we now have a total of four Redmi 4 devices: the Redmi 4A, Redmi 4, Redmi 4X, and Redmi 4 Prime. You can call them the Fantastic Four if you wish.

All four phones are well made and are priced at less than $200. However, even though they share the same name, they differ in lots of ways. So if you are having a hard time deciding which is right for you, you should read this to the end.

Display: Same but Different

All the phones in the Redmi 4 line come with a 5-inch display making them perfect for one hand use.  The difference lies is in their resolution. While the Redmi 4A, Redmi 4, and Redmi 4X have 720p displays, the Redmi 4 Prime has a 1080p screen. That translates into different PPIs too, 294 as against 441.

If you want your display sharp and crisp, you should look to the Redmi 4 Prime but if you don’t care much for that, the Redmi 4, 4A or 4X is fine.

Processors: Different Dragons

Xiaomi has settled for Qualcomm chips only. The Redmi 4A sports the Snapdragon 425; the Redmi 4 gets the Snapdragon 430, the Redmi 4X has the newer Snapdragon 435, and the Redmi 4 Prime uses the popular Snapdragon 625. The Redmi 4 Prime is basically the Redmi Note 4X with a smaller screen. Nothing more, nothing less. So I won’t compare its chip to the rest.

The Snapdragon 425 has a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.4GHz and an Adreno 308 GPU. The Snapdragon 430 and 435 on the other hand are octa-core chips clocked at 1.4GHz and have a more powerful Adreno 505 GPU. The advantage the Snapdragon 435 has over the Snapdragon 430 is in LTE speeds. The SD435 has Cat.7 LTE as against the SD430’s Cat. 4 LTE. That means you will get faster download speeds on the Redmi 4X.

RAM and ROM

The Xiaomi Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 ships with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The Redmi 4X is available in two variants: a 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM and a 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM. The Redmi 4 Prime is only available with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage. All four devices support microSD cards of up to 128GB. If you want a larger RAM, the Redmi 4X or Redmi 4 Prime is your best option.

Cameras

The Redmi 4 line are all equipped with 13MP rear cameras and 5MP front cameras for selfies. The only difference is in the Redmi 4X which has a f/2.0 aperture for its rear camera whereas the others are f/2.2.

Battery

The Redmi 4, 4X, and 4 Prime ship with a 4100mAh battery but the Redmi 4A takes a dip down to 3120mAh. Since they are all 5-inch devices, battery life should be pretty stellar plus they all feature power efficient chips. However there might will be variations  in on-screen time. The ones with the higher screen resolution may likely record less screen time than the 720p displays.

Fingerprint Scanner

Fingerprint scanners have now become a regular feature in mid-range phones. We have even seen them in some sub $100 devices but sadly, the Redmi 4A misses out on this feature. All the other 3 have fingerprint scanners at the back.

Redmi 4A – ¥599 (~$87)

Redmi 4 – ¥699 (~$102)

Conclusion

Redmi 4A – cheapest of the lot but at the expense of a smaller battery and lack of a fingerprint scanner.

Redmi 4 – the fingerprint scanner and larger battery gives it an edge over the Redmi 4A. Battery life will be great too but probably won’t last as long the Redmi 4X.

Redmi 4X – has a more powerful processor in terms of LTE speeds than the Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 and also has a fingerprint scanner. The screen resolution might be the deal breaker for some. It is also the only other one with a 3GB variant.

Redmi 4 Prime – Best of everything. Compact body, higher resolution display, power efficient CPU, more powerful GPU, and larger RAM and storage. Basically the smaller version of the Redmi Note 4X in size alone.

If you do  not care about the resolution, you are better off buying the 2GB RAM variant of the Redmi 4X or the Redmi 4. The Redmi 4 Prime is the one you should buy if you want to tick all the boxes. The Redmi 4A on the other hand is what you should get if you are looking for a second phone to complement that flagship in your pocket or if you want to get a gift for an older relative.

We reported earlier on that there are rumors that Nokia has plans to release three new budget smartphones at MWC 2017 in addition to the Nokia 8 flagship that has kept the rumor mills active for a while now. The smartphones were said to be Nokia 5, Nokia 3 and the classic Nokia 3310 feature phone.

The leak, however, failed to give details of the Nokia 3 features except that it would be an entry level smartphone running Android 7.0 Nougat and having a price tag around 149 Euro. Other details were sketchy but some have been revealed right now. According to the latest leak, the Nokia 3 will come with  a 5.2 / 5.3-inch display with an HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixel). The entry-level phone is said to be powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset and that will be backed by 2GB of RAM. There is also 16GB of storage space on the device which will also run Android Nougat, as stated earlier on. The graphics is taken care of by an Adreno 308 GPU while on the camera end, the Nokia 3 packs a 13MP rear camera as well as a 5MP front-facing camera.

Awesome? Wait for more. The Redmi 4A is on offer for just $89 while the Redmi 4 is listed with a slightly higher, yet affordable price tag of $119 for the 2GB + 32GB version while the 3GB + 64GB version is $40 higher at $159.

Obviously, the Redmi 4 packs a higher specs than the Redmi 4A, sporting a 5-inch display with 1080 pixel resolution. As you know, there are two versions of the device with the high-end version packing an Octa-core Snapdragon 625 chip, 3GB RAM as well as 32GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the second version of the Redmi 4 is powered by a Snapdragon 430 processor and features 2GB of RAM as well as 16GB of internal storage on-board. Both versions have microSD slots for expansion of the internal storage. Both versions pack a large 4,100mAh battery which is enough to ensure some extended hours of usage.

As expected, along with the new Redmi 4 smartphone, Xiaomi also announced the new Xiaomi Redmi 4A device. The company released the two devices online, via live stream, instead of the traditional fanfare associated with its phone launches. But it’s understandable, considering how busy the company has been in the past few months.

The Redmi 4A comes with a similar appearance as the Redmi 4, in a matte finish and two color options, gold and rose gold. So, despite its cheap pricing, the phone will look quite premium as compared to rivals in the market. The phone is super light as well, weighing just 131.5 grams. Another interesting highlight of the phone’s design is the super thin antenna lines, which gives it a seamless look.

The Redmi 4A is powered by the Snapdragon 425 chipset which is a quad-core chip clocked at 1.2GHz. There is a 5-inch 720p display on board. For memory, there is 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. At the back, the phone features a 13MP sensor with PDAF, and up front, there is a 5MP shooter. Other features include a 3120mAh battery, MIUI 8 and dual SIM dual standby.

All this for an amazing price tag of 499 Yuan, which comes to just $74. That’s a lot if specs for such a cheap device. The phone will go on sale on November 11.
