Buying a new Smart TV today can get a lot more confusing. While there are more Smart TVs to choose from than ever, finding the right one isn’t easy. Because a 55-inch TV can cost considerably more than another 55-inch model despite having the same 4K resolution, simply because of differences in panel technology, processing, brightness, and features.

That said, to help you make your TV purchase easier, we have curated some of the best TV options you can buy across budgets and screen sizes. But before jumping into the models, there are a couple of things you need to considering before choosing a Smart TV in 2026.

How to choose a Smart TV

The first thing to consider when buying a new TV is screen size. A 32-inch TV is a good fit for bedrooms and smaller spaces, while 43-inch and 55-inch models work well in most living rooms. If you have a large room and sit farther away from the TV, a 65-inch or 75-inch model can give you a much more immersive viewing experience.

Next, look at the display technology. Basic LED TVs are affordable and work well for everyday viewing, while QLED TVs use quantum dots to deliver richer colours and higher brightness. Mini LED TVs take things a step further with much finer backlight control, resulting in better contrast and HDR performance.

Then comes the resolution. Full HD is still fine on smaller 32-inch and 43-inch TVs, but 4K is the better choice for larger screens. It gives you sharper images and is now common across the mid-range and premium segments.

Finally, check the smart TV platform and connectivity. Google TV offers a familiar interface with access to a wide range of apps, while Samsung’s Tizen and LG’s webOS offer their own ecosystems. If you plan to connect a gaming console, look for HDMI 2.1, VRR and a high refresh rate. For movies and shows, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and Dolby Atmos can make a bigger difference to the experience.

The TV market has changed quite a bit in the last few years. You no longer need to spend over Rs 1 lakh to get a good 4K TV, and Mini-LED models have also started making their way into the sub-Rs 70,000 segment.

If you are planning to buy a new TV, we have picked some of the best options available in India right now. The list includes Mini-LED TVs for better picture quality, along with larger 4K models if you simply want more screen for your money.

How to choose a 4K TV in 2026?

The first thing to consider when buying a new 4K TV is the size. A 43 or 55-inch TV is a good fit for most living rooms, while 65-inch and 75-inch models make more sense if you sit farther away or want a more cinematic experience. A bigger screen, however, does not automatically mean a better picture.

This is where Mini-LED TVs have an advantage. They use a larger number of smaller LEDs for backlighting, allowing the TV to control brightness more precisely. This results in better contrast and brighter highlights compared to a regular LED TV. For under Rs 70,000, Mini-LED is arguably the sweet spot if picture quality is your priority.

You should also look at the refresh rate if you plan to game on the TV. A 120Hz or 144Hz panel can make games and fast-moving content look smoother, while features such as VRR can make a noticeable difference when using a console. For regular Netflix, YouTube, and DTH viewing, though, a 60Hz TV is still perfectly fine.

6 best Mini-LED and 4K TVs under Rs 70,000

Hisense E8S 55-inch Mini-LED TV

The Hisense E8S is one of the best options here if picture quality is your priority. It gets a 55-inch 4K Mini-LED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, along with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support. The Mini-LED backlighting also gives it better contrast than a conventional LED TV, which makes it a good fit for movies and streaming.

It is also a strong option for gaming, thanks to VRR and ALLM support. The TV gets four HDMI ports and a 2.1-channel audio setup, so you have enough connectivity for consoles and other devices.

Xiaomi Quantum MagiQ S

The Xiaomi Quantum MagiQ S is a value-for-money Mini-LED TV that offers a lot for its price. It comes with a 55-inch 4K Mini-LED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate support and up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness. This makes it a good option if you want better contrast and brighter HDR content within your budget.

It also gets a good selection of I/O ports, including three HDMI ports, two USB ports, and eARC. You also get Google TV, 34W speakers with Dolby Audio and DTS:X, and Dolby Vision support.

TCL 55-inch QD-Mini LED TV

The TCL QD-Mini LED TV is another good pick if you want a Mini-LED TV without spending a lot. It boasts a 55-inch screen with 4K resolution, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+, making it a great display for movies, shows, and sports.

It also supports VRR of up to 144Hz and ALLM as well, which means you can play your favourite titles without compromising on the gaming experience. It runs Google TV and packs a 2.1-channel audio setup, making it a complete package for around Rs 60,000.

Samsung 65-inch Crystal Vision 4K TV

If screen size matters more to you than Mini-LED, Samsung’s 65-inch Crystal Vision TV is worth considering. It gives you a large 4K display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which makes it a good option for watching sports and playing games on a bigger screen.

The TV does miss out on the better contrast offered by Mini-LED, but Samsung’s Tizen platform, 30W speakers and large 65-inch screen make it an all-rounder. It is a good pick for buyers who want a big-screen TV from a familiar brand without extending their budget further.

LG NANO 4K UHD AI TV 55-inch

The LG Nano TV gets a 4K display with HDR10 and HLG support, along with LG’s webOS 26 smart TV platform. It also supports 4K upscaling, which can help make lower-resolution content look better on the 4K panel.

If you are looking for a TV specifically for gaming, this one may not be the right option. But for casual gaming, it’s pretty decent, as it gets 60Hz refresh rate, and comes with ALLM and VRR. It also ships with AI features, including AI Sound Pro, which enhances the overall audio experience.

Sony BRAVIA 2 II 43-inch 4K TV

The Sony BRAVIA 2 II is a good option for smaller rooms where a 65-inch or larger TV might be overkill. It has a 43-inch 4K display with Sony’s 4K Processor X1, which is meant to improve picture quality and upscale lower-resolution content. You also get Google TV, making it easy to access popular streaming services.

It runs at 60Hz, so this is not the TV to pick if gaming performance is your top priority. But for a bedroom or smaller living room, the combination of Sony’s picture processing, Google TV, and Dolby Atmos support makes it a well-rounded option for most.

What’s the difference between LED, Mini-LED, and OLED?

LED is the most affordable but offers average contrast, Mini-LED improves brightness and contrast with more precise backlighting, while OLED offers the best picture quality with true blacks but usually costs more.

Which is the best budget 4K TV under Rs 70,000?

The LG NANO 4K UHD AI TV is a good budget TV, as it offers a 55-inch 4K display, HDR support, and webOS 26 for under Rs 50,000.

Which is the best Mini-LED TV under Rs 70,000?

The Hisense E8S is the best Mini-LED TV on this list, thanks to its 144Hz Mini-LED display, Dolby Vision support and a great selection of I/O ports. It is one of the most complete TVs you can get in this price range.

Which is the best 65-inch TV under Rs 70,000?

The Samsung Crystal Vision 65-inch is a good option if you want a large screen with a high refresh rate. Its 120Hz panel makes it particularly suitable for sports and gaming as well.

Which is the best TV for gaming under Rs 70,000?

The Hisense E8S and TCL QD-Mini LED are two of the best options for gaming. Both have 144Hz panels along with VRR and ALLM, a crisp 4K resolution, and in-built speaker setups, making them better suited to all sorts of gaming.

So, which of these TVs is your pick? Let us know in the comments below.

A new report has revealed that the 4K TV market will continue to see growth in the coming years. The 4K TV market will apparently see a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 19 percent in the five year period starting from 2022 and 2027.

4K TV market to almost double by 2027

The data arrives from a new report from Technavio, who shared that the high end TV market will see a 19.19 percent growth over the course of this five year period. It adds that the 4K market will reach a sizeable 183.45 billion US Dollars. In other words, the market will almost double in the next couple of years. The rising popularity of these high resolution TVs arrives thanks to growing sales of TVs with larger displays.

The Technavio report states that the standard size of TVs was just around 40 inches. However, due to the shift in trends in the market, the TVs being made have even surpassed the 80 inches in size. Furthermore, as smart TVs have become increasingly more popular in the market, customers have also began gravitating towards models that support 4K resolution.

Although, the market still faces many challenges with one of the biggest hurdles being the lack of 4K content. While these 4K enabled models can still support run content on the lower 1080p or 720p resolution, customers would prefer spending less money to just buy TVs with these lower resolution.

LG has recently launched its new OLED evo C3 series gaming TVs, which are now available on Chinese e-commerce platforms in two versions – 42 inches and 48 inches. The initial prices for these TVs are set at 8,999 yuan ($1,310) and 9,999 yuan ($1,455), respectively.

The evo C3 series comes with several upgrades, including the new α9 Gen6 AI audio/visual chipset, which has a response time of 0.1ms, a 4K 120Hz high refresh rate screen, and four HDMI 2.1 ports. The TV also supports picture synchronization technology from Nvidia and AMD, along with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The audio system supports 9.1.2 virtual surround sound and comes with a built-in game optimizer, along with a new audio settings menu.

According to LG, the new α9 Gen6 audio/visual chipset processor uses algorithmic deep learning to recognize and classify image quality and main objects in detail. This results in noise reduction for low-quality images and enhanced resolution for facial features, bodies, and text, making them vivid and natural.

The dynamic tone mapping technology has also been upgraded, which enhances the global contrast and image grayscale through frame-by-frame image analysis. Additionally, the analysis block has been upgraded from 5,000 to 20,000, achieving more accurate and precise algorithmic control compared to the C2 series.

The LG OLED evo C3 series also features an upgraded version of webOS, which boots without ads and includes a new app market with built-in access to various audio and video resources such as Mango TV, Cool Miao Video, Galaxy Kiwi, and other audio-visual resources. The LG OLED evo C3 series is now up for pre-order in China, with an initial discount of 2,000 yuan ($291).

Leica, the globally renowned photography brand, recently announced the Leica Cine 1 – an ultra-short throw (UST) laser projector, which the brand calls a laser TV, and the brand claims to have revolutionized the future of television.

In collaboration with Hisense, Leica launched the Leica Cine 1 at the annual 2022 IFA consumer electronics trade show in Berlin. And before we get into the specifics of the Leica Cine 1, here’s the pricing of the Leica Cine 1.

The Leica Cine 1 will be available in 80-inch and 100-inch setups. The Leica Cine 1 projector will set you back around 6900 USD for the 80-inch projector unit, and 7900 USD for the 100-inch projector unit. As for the screen, Leica is selling its exclusive ambient light rejection (ALR) screens that are compatible with the Leica Cine 1 at 1600 USD and 1800 USD for the 80-inch and 100-inch screens respectively.

However, users can still opt for third-party projector screens as well, but Leica recommends users that its Leica Cine 1 UST laser projector be paired with its ambient light rejection (ALR) screens for the best viewing experience. So if you were to have the full 100-inch Leica Cine 1 setup, it will cost you a total of 9700 USD to own this “laser TV”.

So what makes the Leica Cine 1 cost almost 10 thousand dollars? And should you get one yourself?

The Leica Cine 1 is a UST projector with a triple RGB laser as a light source and an integrated TV tuner. The technology which Leica calls Laser TV, will fundamentally change the television display market according to the brand. Leica claims that according to market experts, the new technology will quickly establish itself in the range of display sizes from 80 inches.

The Leica Cine 1 enters the market as a large-scale TV and home cinema alternative. With brilliant picture quality in 4K resolution, but significantly lower consumption values at the same time compared to traditional LED televisions, consumers will be able to have a real home cinema experience in the comfort of their own living room in the future with display sizes up to 140 inches.

At its core is the projection system with triple RGB laser technology has a sophisticated optical system manufactured in accordance with Leica’s optics expertise and high standards. The system will be available in 2100 to 2500 ANSI lumens of brightness and can refresh up to 60Hz.

Leica claims that the Leica Cine 1 laser TV can last more than 25,000 hours in a single continuous session. In terms of the sound system, this laser TV has 2 built-in 20W speakers and supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital Plus.

Ports-wise, the Leica Cine 1 has three HDMI slots (one HDMI 2.1 port with eARC), one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0, a built-in TV tuner, and a Common Interface slot.

Television technology has come a long way ever since its invention. From the old box-shaped CRT television that could only show “black and white” video, to the current market standard of slim and big-screen smart TVs that are able to show over 10 billion colours on screen at Full HD, 2K, 4K and if you are ambitious enough, 8K as well.

At Hisense’s official launch event for its first in-house 8K AI GPU chip on January 11, Hisense Vice President, Yu Zhitao boldly claimed that the television industry globally will undergo a massive wave of change in trends in the coming years. Yu claims that the picture quality of the TV shows and live streams shown on-screen will determine the purchase decision of an interested buyer to purchase the TV or not.

The Popular TV manufacturer, Hisense also foresees the coming future where TV manufacturers stop focusing to compete on screen size and sales numbers but instead focus on their smart graphics processing units(GPUs) and the sound system of their TVs due to changing consumer demands throughout the industry as a whole.

Yu mentions the two important reasons why Hisense has this prediction for the future of the TV industry. The reasons are that the TV industry is already reaching the limit of bigger screens and because of TV manufacturers playing the game of price wars amongst each other.

The trend of large-screen TVs in the industry is already popular due to many years of advertising from TV manufacturers saying that a larger TV allows for a more complete multimedia viewing experience. However, large-screen TVs have their limitations. When the screen is larger, and the shows are not upscaled to higher definitions, the consumers will start to notice the imperfections of their large-screen experience like more noticeable lower resolution, and colors being washed out due to lower pixel density. With that in mind, the GPU in a TV is more important than ever to enhance the TV watching experience.

Yu mentions that the category of 75 inches and above large-screen TVs has grown exponentially in the past few years and that as we are approaching 100 inches for our TVs, users now need better GPU rendering than ever to upscale and support a higher resolution like 8K. Hisense is already prepared as it has just developed its first in-house 8K AI GPU chip recently.

The last reason is the fierce but unhealthy competition between TV manufacturers, which Hisense refers to as the TV price wars. To illustrate, TV manufacturers advertise their product as a large-screen TV at an affordable and cheap price tag, and this price-to-screen size ratio seems to be what they are only focusing on. The “bigger screens, lower price” trend has made the market value of the TV industry trend lower, the revenue stream of manufacturers to trend lower, and stifled innovation in the TV industry as well.

In the end, Hisense emphasizes that if the TV industry transition to high-quality TVs that focus on other aspects like color accuracy, screen quality, and more complete sound systems, plus a transition from unhealthy pricing wars to healthy value wars (where the TV is bought on the basis of the value it provides to the viewing experience), then the industry will still have a future amongst other technology products like laptops, tablets, and smartphones as well.

The post Hisense Exec claims TV Price Wars is hampering innovation in the industry appeared first on Gizmochina.

TV prices are going up since the beginning of 2021. This is due to the prolonged global shortage of LCD panels. This trend is now said to change in H2 2021. It will be due to the rising competition among the TV OEMs.

The price of LCD panels has been increasing for more than a year. As a result, televisions got expensive starting in early 2021. Thankfully, we can finally expect the price to go down as per a report by Omdia.

According to the research firm, the price of LCD TV panels has started declining from Q3 2021. This trend is forecasted to continue in the second half of 2021.

The dip in panel price will be driven by the competition among the television manufacturers, the widening gap in profitability between Chinese and South Korean television manufacturers, and strong bargaining power. Since the supply chain has now become hard to predict, OEMs need competitive strategies to make use of the situation.

If all goes well, companies will stop hiking the price of their TVs. As of now, all we can do is hope for the best. The results will probably start appearing in the last quarter of 2021.
