<p>A new report has revealed that the 4K TV market will continue to see growth in the coming years. The 4K TV market will apparently see a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 19 percent in the five year period starting from 2022 and 2027.</p>

<h4>4K TV market to almost double by 2027</h4>

<p>The data arrives from a new report from <em><a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/4k-tv-market-size-to-grow-by-usd-183-45-billion-from-2022-to-2027--the-rising-popularity-of-large-display-televisions-to-drive-market-growth---technavio-301810522.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Technavio</a></em>, who shared that the high end TV market will see a 19.19 percent growth over the course of this five year period. It adds that the 4K market will reach a sizeable 183.45 billion US Dollars. In other words, the market will almost double in the next couple of years. The rising popularity of these high resolution TVs arrives thanks to growing sales of TVs with larger displays.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/what_is_4k_-_sony_bravia-1-1024x576.webp?x44794" alt="4K" class="wp-image-534082" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/what_is_4k_-_sony_bravia-1-1024x576.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/what_is_4k_-_sony_bravia-1-300x169.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/what_is_4k_-_sony_bravia-1-768x432.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/what_is_4k_-_sony_bravia-1-1536x864.webp 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/what_is_4k_-_sony_bravia-1-696x392.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/what_is_4k_-_sony_bravia-1-1068x601.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/what_is_4k_-_sony_bravia-1-1920x1080.webp 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/what_is_4k_-_sony_bravia-1-747x420.webp 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/what_is_4k_-_sony_bravia-1.webp 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The Technavio report states that the standard size of TVs was just around 40 inches. However, due to the shift in trends in the market, the TVs being made have even surpassed the 80 inches in size. Furthermore, as smart TVs have become increasingly more popular in the market, customers have also began gravitating towards models that support 4K resolution.</p>

<p>Although, the market still faces many challenges with one of the biggest hurdles being the lack of 4K content. While these 4K enabled models can still support run content on the lower 1080p or 720p resolution, customers would prefer spending less money to just buy TVs with these lower resolution. </p>

<p>The evo C3 series comes with several upgrades, including the new α9 Gen6 AI audio/visual chipset, which has a response time of 0.1ms, a 4K 120Hz high refresh rate screen, and four HDMI 2.1 ports. The TV also supports picture synchronization technology from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/nvidia/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nvidia</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/amd/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">AMD</a>, along with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The audio system supports 9.1.2 virtual surround sound and comes with a built-in game optimizer, along with a new audio settings menu.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="890" height="944" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/LG-OLED-evo-C3-3.webp?x44794" alt="LG OLED evo C3" class="wp-image-525184" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/LG-OLED-evo-C3-3.webp 890w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/LG-OLED-evo-C3-3-283x300.webp 283w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/LG-OLED-evo-C3-3-768x815.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/LG-OLED-evo-C3-3-696x738.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/LG-OLED-evo-C3-3-396x420.webp 396w" sizes="(max-width: 890px) 100vw, 890px" /></figure></div>

<p>According to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lg/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">LG</a>, the new α9 Gen6 audio/visual <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/chipset/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">chipset</a> processor uses algorithmic deep learning to recognize and classify image quality and main objects in detail. This results in noise reduction for low-quality images and enhanced resolution for facial features, bodies, and text, making them vivid and natural.</p>

<p>The dynamic tone mapping technology has also been upgraded, which enhances the global contrast and image grayscale through frame-by-frame image analysis. Additionally, the analysis block has been upgraded from 5,000 to 20,000, achieving more accurate and precise algorithmic control compared to the C2 series.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="750" height="380" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/LG-OLED-evo-C3-2.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-525183" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/LG-OLED-evo-C3-2.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/LG-OLED-evo-C3-2-300x152.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/LG-OLED-evo-C3-2-696x353.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></figure></div>

<p>The LG OLED evo C3 series also features an upgraded version of webOS, which boots without ads and includes a new app market with built-in access to various audio and video resources such as Mango TV, Cool Miao Video, Galaxy Kiwi, and other audio-visual resources. The LG OLED evo C3 series is now up for pre-order in China, with an initial discount of 2,000 yuan ($291).</p>

<p>At <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/hisense/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hisense</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">’s official launch event for its first in-house 8K AI GPU chip on January 11, Hisense Vice President, Yu Zhitao boldly claimed that the television industry globally will undergo a massive wave of change in trends in the coming years. Yu claims that the picture quality of the TV shows and live streams shown on-screen will determine the purchase decision of an interested buyer to purchase the TV or not.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Popular TV manufacturer, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/hisense/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hisense</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> also foresees the coming future where TV manufacturers stop focusing to compete on screen size and sales numbers but instead focus on their smart graphics processing units(GPUs) and the sound system of their TVs due to changing consumer demands throughout the industry as a whole.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Yu mentions the two important reasons why </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/hisense/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hisense</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> has this prediction for the future of the TV industry. The reasons are that the TV industry is already reaching the limit of bigger screens and because of TV manufacturers playing the game of price wars amongst each other.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-434959" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/cwelch_211209_4929_0011.jpg?x44794" alt="LG" width="2040" height="1360" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/cwelch_211209_4929_0011.jpg 2040w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/cwelch_211209_4929_0011-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/cwelch_211209_4929_0011-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/cwelch_211209_4929_0011-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/cwelch_211209_4929_0011-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/cwelch_211209_4929_0011-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/cwelch_211209_4929_0011-630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/cwelch_211209_4929_0011-1920x1280.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2040px) 100vw, 2040px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The trend of large-screen TVs in the industry is already popular due to many years of advertising from TV manufacturers saying that a larger TV allows for a more complete multimedia viewing experience. However, large-screen TVs have their limitations. When the screen is larger, and the shows are not upscaled to higher definitions, the consumers will start to notice the imperfections of their large-screen experience like more noticeable lower resolution, and colors being washed out due to lower pixel density. With that in mind, the GPU in a TV is more important than ever to enhance the TV watching experience.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Yu mentions that the category of 75 inches and above large-screen TVs has grown exponentially in the past few years and that as we are approaching 100 inches for our TVs, users now need better GPU rendering than ever to upscale and support a higher resolution like 8K. Hisense is already prepared as it has just developed its first in-house 8K AI GPU chip recently.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-436486" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Sony-BRAVIA-XR-MASTER-Series-A95K-QD-OLED-TV.png?x44794" alt="" width="1230" height="820" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Sony-BRAVIA-XR-MASTER-Series-A95K-QD-OLED-TV.png 1230w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Sony-BRAVIA-XR-MASTER-Series-A95K-QD-OLED-TV-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Sony-BRAVIA-XR-MASTER-Series-A95K-QD-OLED-TV-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Sony-BRAVIA-XR-MASTER-Series-A95K-QD-OLED-TV-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Sony-BRAVIA-XR-MASTER-Series-A95K-QD-OLED-TV-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Sony-BRAVIA-XR-MASTER-Series-A95K-QD-OLED-TV-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Sony-BRAVIA-XR-MASTER-Series-A95K-QD-OLED-TV-630x420.png 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1230px) 100vw, 1230px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The last reason is the fierce but unhealthy competition between TV manufacturers, which Hisense refers to as the TV price wars. To illustrate, TV manufacturers advertise their product as a large-screen TV at an affordable and cheap price tag, and this price-to-screen size ratio seems to be what they are only focusing on. The “bigger screens, lower price” trend has made the market value of the TV industry trend lower, the revenue stream of manufacturers to trend lower, and stifled innovation in the TV industry as well.</span></p>
<p><figure id="attachment_435533" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-435533" style="width: 972px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-435533" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Hisense-lineup-2022.jpeg?x44794" alt="Hisense TVs 2022" width="972" height="547" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Hisense-lineup-2022.jpeg 972w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Hisense-lineup-2022-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Hisense-lineup-2022-768x432.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Hisense-lineup-2022-696x392.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Hisense-lineup-2022-746x420.jpeg 746w" sizes="(max-width: 972px) 100vw, 972px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-435533" class="wp-caption-text">HiSense Lineup of TVs in 2022</figcaption></figure></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the end, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/hisense/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hisense</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> emphasizes that if the TV industry transition to high-quality TVs that focus on other aspects like color accuracy, screen quality, and more complete sound systems, plus a transition from unhealthy pricing wars to healthy value wars (where the TV is bought on the basis of the value it provides to the viewing experience), then the industry will still have a future amongst other technology products like laptops, tablets, and smartphones as well.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The price of LCD panels has been increasing for more than a year. As a result, televisions got expensive starting in early 2021. Thankfully, we can finally expect the price to go down as per a </span><a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/572/337.htm"><span style="font-weight: 400">report</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> by Omdia.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">According to the research firm, the price of LCD TV panels has started declining from Q3 2021. This trend is forecasted to continue in the second half of 2021.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The dip in panel price will be driven by the competition among the television manufacturers, the widening gap in profitability between Chinese and South Korean television manufacturers, and strong bargaining power. Since the supply chain has now become hard to predict, OEMs need competitive strategies to make use of the situation.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">If all goes well, companies will stop hiking the price of their TVs. As of now, all we can do is hope for the best. The results will probably start appearing in the last quarter of 2021.</span></p>
