Given that OnePlus 3 is one of the hot phones in the market right now, the team has confirmed that they will be bringing Ubuntu Touch to the OnePlus flagship as well. This is great news for all OnePlus fans who want to see how the OS will run on the powerful OnePlus 3.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-85834" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/oneplus-3-new-08.jpg?x44794" alt="oneplus 3 new 08" width="1024" height="1365" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/oneplus-3-new-08.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/oneplus-3-new-08-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/oneplus-3-new-08-768x1024.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>Mr. Gripsgard, part of the UBports team has ordered the phone and will start on the development and porting of the OS as soon as the phone arrives. Considering the top-end specifications of the device, especially the 6GB RAM on board, it would be interesting to see how the Convergence feature of Ubuntu works on the device. To remind you, &#8220;Convergence&#8221; is a pretty cool feature on the Ubuntu Touch OS, wherein you can connect your smartphone to any monitor and Ubuntu Desktop interface will load up on the screen. So, basically, your phone will transform into a desktop environment when connected to an external display.  All apps running on the phone will pop on the monitor seamlessly and even when you disconnect, the apps like music or video which was playing on the monitor will appear on the phone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-86248" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/ubuntu1-converge.jpg?x44794" alt="ubuntu1 converge" width="1671" height="974" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/ubuntu1-converge.jpg 1671w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/ubuntu1-converge-300x175.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/ubuntu1-converge-768x448.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/ubuntu1-converge-1024x597.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1671px) 100vw, 1671px" /></p>
<p>To recap, the OnePlus 3 comes with the Snapdragon 820 chipset on board with 6GB of RAM as standard and 64GB of internal storage without a MicroSD card slot. There will be a 5.5-inch 1080p display on board and a 3000mAh battery with the company&#8217;s own Dash charging tech. At the back, the phone comes with a 16MP camera with OIS, while up front, you have an 8MP front facing shooter. If you want to read the full specs of the OnePlus 3, check <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/06/14/oneplus-3-official-specs/">out this article</a>.</p>
<p>So, would you like to see Ubuntu Touch OS running on your OnePlus 3? Check out <a href="https://devices.ubports.com/#/op3">their page from here</a>.</p>

<p>The company has released a new teaser which shows some kind of partnership between Meizu and Ubuntu. Considering the tradition of the company<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/02/25/meizu-visits-mwc-ubuntu-version-mx4/"> of releasing Ubuntu-powered smartphones at MWC</a>, this teaser is most likely for the launch of the <strong>Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition</strong>. Last year, we saw Meizu MX4 running Ubuntu at MWC 2015.</p>
<figure id="attachment_71806" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-71806" style="width: 450px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/962857d0-c8aa-11e5-aa4c-05883facf6ea.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-71806 size-full" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/962857d0-c8aa-11e5-aa4c-05883facf6ea.jpg?x44794" alt="mx5 pro" width="450" height="800" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-71806" class="wp-caption-text">Leaked Pro 5 Ubuntu edition model</figcaption></figure>
<p>This isn&#8217;t the first time we are hearing about a Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu edition model. At the start of this month, a couple of pictures of the Pro 5 running on the Ubuntu OS were leaked, which kind of hinted at such a collaboration. Now, it looks like the company is going to make the Pro 5 Ubuntu version official at MWC 2015. Usually, the specs of the device remain the same as before. So, in this Ubuntu edition, we can expect only the software to be different.</p>
<p>Meizu Pro 5 was one of the most powerful flagships of 2015 and it would be interesting to see Ubuntu OS on top of this device. The teaser shows that the company will announce something on February 22, the first day of MWC.</p>
<p>So, could Pro 5 be the Ubuntu-powered smartphone that we were waiting for? Let me know your thoughts.</p>

Finally, yesterday, the company released a teaser poster for the Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition confirming the previous reports. The company revealed that it would showcase the device at MWC 2015 to be held in Barcelona, Spain.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/meizu-mx4-ubuntu-MWC.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-42600" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/meizu-mx4-ubuntu-MWC.jpg?x44794" alt="meizu mx4 ubuntu MWC" width="440" height="691" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/meizu-mx4-ubuntu-MWC.jpg 440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/meizu-mx4-ubuntu-MWC-191x300.jpg 191w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/meizu-mx4-ubuntu-MWC-267x420.jpg 267w" sizes="(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px" /></a></p>
<p>Today, the company released further details about the phone. Meizu revealed that it would be present at MWC at Hall 8.1 &#8211; App Planet Stand 8.1G41. So, those who will be present at the event can check out the device at the above mentioned booth.</p>
<p>Yesterday, the company confirmed that there will be three different variants of the device namely Flyme OS, YunOS and Ubuntu OS. We have already seen the Flyme OS and Alibaba&#8217;s YunOS powered variants and now we can finally take a look at the new Ubuntu OS powered MX4.</p>
<p>Ubuntu is quite different than iOS or Android OS. It uses a concept called &#8216;Scopes&#8217; for navigating through various features. So, instead of relying on apps for different functions, you can just swipe through different scopes to get to the required feature. Its pretty interesting, however, apart from the BQ Aquarius E4.5 Ubuntu Edition, there isn&#8217;t any Ubuntu powered phones available in the market at the moment.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/meizu-mx4-ubuntu1.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-42601" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/meizu-mx4-ubuntu1.png?x44794" alt="meizu-mx4-ubuntu" width="1024" height="692" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/meizu-mx4-ubuntu1.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/meizu-mx4-ubuntu1-300x203.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/meizu-mx4-ubuntu1-622x420.png 622w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/meizu-mx4-ubuntu1-640x433.png 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/meizu-mx4-ubuntu1-681x460.png 681w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></p>
<p>Meizu had previously shown off the Ubuntu powered Meizu MX4, however the device didn&#8217;t receive much attention. So, it would be interesting to see whether fans like the new Ubuntu OS and are willing to go with this OS instead of the traditional Android powered Flyme Version.</p>
<p>Expect more details at MWC.</p>

<p>Nokia Lumia 1020 was an interesting device. It came with a very large sensor at the back, a 41MP camera which could click pictures better than most other smartphones in the market. Like all other Lumia devices, it ran Microsoft&#8217;s Windows Mobile OS.</p>
<p>However, looks like Lumia 1020 can run Ubuntu OS as well, atleast one of the Weibo users proved that it was possible. Team Ubuntu which is usually behind a number of leaks online, released some pictures earlier today claiming that they made their Lumia 1020 run Ubuntu.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/ed33ed02jw1ennc96utegj218g0p1wh9_副本.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-39001" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/ed33ed02jw1ennc96utegj218g0p1wh9_副本-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="ed33ed02jw1ennc96utegj218g0p1wh9_副本" width="800" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/ed33ed02jw1ennc96utegj218g0p1wh9_副本-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/ed33ed02jw1ennc96utegj218g0p1wh9_副本-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/ed33ed02jw1ennc96utegj218g0p1wh9_副本.jpg 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>As you can see in the pictures added in the post, the Lumia 1020 is running on Ubuntu OS which is very similar to the desktop version that we have seen in the past few years. The menu bar is on the left, which is the same as the taskbar on Windows desktop while the settings bar is on top which has the volume level indicator, Wi-Fi as well as the settings option. If you have ever used any of the recent Ubuntu desktop releases, you would see that the OS is very similar to the one shown in the pictures.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/ed33ed02jw1ennc98g5s7j218g0p140h_副本.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-39002" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/ed33ed02jw1ennc98g5s7j218g0p140h_副本.jpg?x44794" alt="ed33ed02jw1ennc98g5s7j218g0p140h_副本" width="800" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/ed33ed02jw1ennc98g5s7j218g0p140h_副本.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/ed33ed02jw1ennc98g5s7j218g0p140h_副本-300x168.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>We still don&#8217;t know whether everything works on this Lumia 1020. It would be interesting to see how the OS handles the large 41MP sensor at the back and whether the pictures captured are of similar quality as that of the Windows running device. We hope to see more details soon.</p>
<p>Ubuntu for mobile isn&#8217;t a new concept. Canonical, the company behind the OS has been trying to release Ubuntu powered smartphones for the past one year, however the launch has been delayed so far. According to the latest news, the first true Ubuntu powered smartphone will release in Europe in the second week of February. This budget phone will be sold directly to customers via the Spanish carrier Bq.</p>
<p>For those interested in this new OS for mobile platforms, currently, there is a way to try out Ubuntu. You can install the OS on a number of Google&#8217;s Nexus devices. Some of the supported phones include the old Nexus 4, Nexus 7 2013 tablet and the Nexus 10.</p>

The Ubuntu developers is doing a hard effort to realize their idea about the total convergence for several years. Microsoft and Apple is doing the same thing, you will see that Windows and iOS both seemed also refer to the same direction of the total convergence.</p>
<p>Mark Shuttleworth is the first person who talk about the convergence, and Ubuntu is certainly be able to provide nore better capabilities that other platform since Ubuntu is available for free.</p>
<p>Here is the video of Mark Shuttleworth talking about Ubuntu Touch OS:<br />
