Casio has listed the Vintage A159WE-1 on its official online stores across several European markets, including the Netherlands, Spain, and Germany.

The A159WE-1 follows the same square digital design first seen on the A159W from 1989. It features a silver-tone chrome-plated resin case paired with a stainless steel bracelet. The bracelet includes an adjustable clasp and supports wrist sizes between 150 mm and 205 mm. The case measures 36.8 x 33.2 x 8.5 mm and weighs 44 g. It uses resin glass and is rated as water-resistant, suitable for light splashes.

The digital display supports both 12-hour and 24-hour time formats, with an accuracy of ±30 seconds per month. Standard timekeeping includes hour, minute, second, PM indicator, date, and day. The watch also includes a daily alarm and an hourly time signal.

Additional features include a 1/100-second stopwatch with a measuring capacity of 59 minutes and 59.99 seconds. It supports elapsed time, split time, and first and second place time tracking. An automatic calendar is built in, preset to 28 days for February. Visibility in low light is handled by an LED backlight. Nissan has teamed up once again with Casio for a new collaboration under the G-Shock lineup. This time, the partnership introduces a special edition watch based on the G-Shock GA-2100, inspired by the iconic Nissan GT-R range. The model is expected to launch in May 2026. The information comes from a recent post shared by @geesgshock on Instagram.

This is the first time the GT-R edition uses the GA-2100 platform. Earlier collaborations have mostly stayed with fully digital models, so this marks a clear shift in design. The watch comes in black, with red and white accents that match the GT-R’s usual color theme. A large GT-R logo sits on the dial, making the branding hard to miss.

The GA-2100 itself is known for its slim profile and octagonal case, along with an analog-digital display. That gives this version a different look compared to the square digital styles seen in earlier GT-R releases.

As with previous editions, availability will be limited. The watch will be sold only in Japan through Nissan dealerships, the Global Headquarters Gallery, the Nissan Boutique at Nissan Crossing, and the official Nissan Online Shop. Orders placed online will ship within Japan only.

The last GT-R collaboration came out in 2024 and was based on the DW-5600. That model kept things simple with an all-matte black finish, including the buttons and buckle. Compared to that, the 2026 version stands out mainly for its design change. It keeps the GT-R identity, but the GA-2100 base gives it a more modern and slightly less utilitarian look.

PPP Cameras recently drew attention with its Leica-inspired Casio M-Edition watch, a modified version of the Casio AE-1200WHD that focused entirely on design changes rather than new features. The company is now following a similar approach with a new custom release called the N168. This model is based on the Casio A168WE, another widely used digital watch platform. Like the M-Edition, this is not an official Casio release but a third-party redesign focused on aesthetics.

The N168 keeps the original A168 digital module unchanged. It still includes standard features such as a stopwatch, alarm, and backlight. There are no functional upgrades, which makes it clear that the product is centered on visual identity rather than performance improvements.

This time, the design takes inspiration from Nikon cameras. The display features a yellow tint, referencing Nikon’s signature color. The strap uses a black canvas material with yellow stitching, similar to camera straps used on DSLR and mirrorless systems. The case design remains close to the original A168, and existing elements like the “Illuminator” branding are still visible, reinforcing that the base hardware has not been altered.

According to PPP Cameras, this choice is meant to resemble the red LED light meter found in classic Leica M cameras.

The model commemorates Honda’s historic win at the 1965 Mexican Grand Prix, where the Honda RA272 secured the company’s first Formula 1 victory on October 24, 1965. It marked the first F1 win for a Japanese car manufacturer. Honda designed both the engine and chassis internally. Since that milestone, the company has won six constructors’ championships and produced four world champions in Formula 1. Honda engineers worked closely with Casio to design the details of this commemorative watch.

The bezel uses genuine Championship White paint taken from the RA272 race car. The color is applied to the base and finished with a top coat to replicate the car’s glossy ivory body. A gold “60” sits at the 60-minute position to highlight the anniversary. Around the dial, a red ring references the Hinomaru circle used on the RA272 and mirrors the design of the Japanese flag.

Inside the dial, a gold metal bearing ring carries the engraving “Veni, Vidi, Vici” along with the car number “11.” The phrase refers to the message Honda’s Formula 1 team sent after its historic victory. Casio’s G-SHOCK has announced a new collaboration with Ghost in the Shell, built around the classic DW-5600. The watch combines one of Japan’s most iconic anime franchises with a G-SHOCK model that helped define what a tough digital watch should be.

Ghost in the Shell is one of the most influential anime and manga franchises ever created. First released as a manga by Masamune Shirow and later adapted into the landmark 1995 animated film, the series shaped how cyberpunk is portrayed in Japanese pop culture. Its exploration of identity, artificial intelligence, and the line between human and machine helped define modern sci-fi storytelling. The 1995 film, in particular, became a global reference point, inspiring filmmakers, designers, and technologists for decades.

The collaboration is based on the DW-5600, a square-shaped G-SHOCK that traces its design back to the original DW-5000. This model established G-SHOCK’s core concept of shock resistance and long-term durability. The new edition stays faithful to that design while adding Ghost in the Shell elements.

The watch features a black resin case and band, with turquoise G-SHOCK branding on the frame. Ghost in the Shell branding appears in teal, matching the series’ cyber-themed color style. When the electro-luminescent backlight is activated, an image of Motoko Kusanagi, also known as The Major, appears on the display panel. This is the main visual tie-in with the 1995 film.

The bezel uses genuine Championship White paint from the RA272. It’s applied to the base and finished with a top coat to match the car’s glossy ivory body. A gold “60” sits at the 60-minute position. The dial has a red ring around the edge, inspired by the Hinomaru design on the RA272 and the Japanese flag.

A gold metal bearing ring inside carries the engraving “Veni, Vidi, Vici” and car number “11.” This references the message Honda’s F1 team sent after their win. The strap shows a diagram of the RA272’s 1.5-liter V12 engine, highlighting Honda’s unusual choice of a 12-cylinder layout at the time. The band uses nappa leather on the front and ultra suede on the back.

The price is $780. Pre-orders opened in December 2025, and deliveries are expected by mid-2026. The watch sold out almost immediately.

Built Like a PlayStation From the 90s

The design focuses heavily on nostalgia. The stainless-steel case uses the same gray tone as the first PlayStation console. The dial features the controller symbols Triangle, Circle, X, and Square as hour markers. The hour and minute hands are shaped like the Start and Select buttons. The rubber strap includes PlayStation color symbols and matching markings. The watch does not hide its inspiration. Every surface ties back to the PS1 era.

Inside the case is a Miyota 9039 automatic movement made in Japan. An automatic mechanical watch does not use a battery. Entry-level wearables like the Xiaomi Band and Redmi Band series are dominating global shelves, especially as users seek smarter features without the premium smartwatch price tag.

Omdia predicts an 8% growth rate for the market in 2025 and 9% in 2026. But the real shift is happening beneath the hardware. While basic bands are driving volume, value is consolidating around smartwatches. These accounted for just 32% of Q2 shipments but generated 69% of the market’s total value. In short, fewer people are buying watches, but they are spending more on them.

This is pushing brands to rethink the game. Instead of chasing specs alone, companies are doubling down on ecosystems. Xiaomi is leaning into HyperOS to connect its wearables tightly with its broader device portfolio. Huawei is building an all-in-one health ecosystem via the Huawei Health app, which includes hardware, data analytics, and subscription services.

The EFK-100 series marks Casio’s entry into the automatic segment in India. Forged carbon, a composite material used in aerospace and automotive applications, combines strength and lightness with distinctive marbled patterns.

All five models use a mechanical movement with automatic and manual winding options. The watches offer a power reserve of about 40 hours, a mean daily rate of -35 to +45 seconds, and operate at 21,600 vibrations per hour with 24 jewels. Each features a see-through case back that reveals the movement in motion. The hacking seconds hand, date display, and phosphorescent-tipped hour and minute hands are standard across the series.

Design details include hollowed sections on the hands for better visibility, mirror-finished beveled indexes, and a ground-finish dial ring. The EFK-100XPB-1A pairs a forged carbon case with a urethane band, while the remaining models use stainless steel bands with polished and brushed finishes. The popular smart wearables maker announced the Helio Strap via its official social media account with a dedicated blog post revealing more details regarding the Helio Strap HYROX Edition. The latter is a limited edition wearable that was created specifically for the Elite 15, which is the world’s top HYROX athletes. Amazfit’s latest gadget looks like a simple smart band with no screen, but the Helio Strap’s display is actually hidden inside the band.

As per official notes, the new Helio Strap offers various health related trackers that can monitor the user’s heart rate, stress levels, sleep cycle, and energy levels. This bio-monitoring works through the whole day, allowing it to process this data and offer suggestions for training schedules and recovery. But one of the more notable features is the new BioCharge energy monitoring system that keeps a score of the user’s energy. Amazfit stated that this feature can allow for better workout plans.

The HYROX Edition is also differentiated by the HYROX Race and PFT modes, along with automatic detection during strength training. Amazfit users can get access to their biometric data via the Zepp app. Other notable features include integration with Strava, TrainingPeaks, and Adidas Running, as well as up to 10 days of battery life. Unfortunately, the official pricing has yet to be announced, so stick around for more. This release also arrives weeks after the Amazfit Balance 2 smartwatch launch.

Casio has listed a new limited edition Oceanus Manta, the OCW-S6000PB-7AJF, set to release in June 2025. The watch is priced at ¥385,000 (around $2,700) and will be limited to 600 units.

This model sticks to the usual Manta design but adds a few upgrades. The main highlight is the sapphire glass bezel. It’s cut with 12 outer facets and 60 detailed concave cuts, making the light reflect in different ways depending on the angle. Casio uses blue vapor deposition on the top and bottom, platinum gradation vapor deposition on the sides, and blue sputtering on the vertical surfaces. This gives the bezel a bright, shifting look that’s meant to reflect the line where the sea and sky meet.

The dial uses in-dial solar tech, which means the watch charges through the three sub-dials, allowing the main dial to stay bright white. Blue transparent coating is used on the sub-dials. The 12 o’clock index is blue sputtered, and the second hand is anodized blue. This contrast of blue and white gives the watch a clean and sharp look. City codes are laser-engraved on the inner dial, and most indexes are finished in silver plate.

The case is 10.3mm thick and still includes Bluetooth, radio, solar tech, and world time functions. The body is made of titanium with a titanium carbide treatment to help resist wear and improve color. The titanium bracelet has arrow-shaped H links and polished center links. Parts of the band are Zaratsu-polished for a smoother finish.

Casio has removed the outer titanium bezel frame to highlight the edge-to-edge sapphire glass. The case back is laser-engraved with a unique serial number, and each watch comes in a special box.

This report outlines the emerging trends and challenges in the MicroLED display sector, highlighting its potential impact on various industries.

Emerging Dominance of MicroLED in Wearables

MicroLED technology is set to revolutionize the display market with its superior attributes compared to conventional LED displays. Known for its energy efficiency, microLED displays significantly reduce the risk of burn-in and promise a longer lifespan. These displays are distinguished by their individual pixel light sources, which enable superior contrast, faster response times, and more vibrant colors. This makes microLED technology particularly suitable for devices where high-quality display performance is essential.

One of the key predictions in DSCC’s report is the expansion of the MicroLED market to $1.46 billion by 2028. There’s another good news for Apple as DSCC reports that the iPhone 15 series has seen a significant increase in panel shipments, with a 16% growth compared to the iPhone 14 series and 21% compared to the iPhone 13 series. The iPhone 15 Pro models, especially in October, have become increasingly popular, securing a 71% share of total panel shipments. The higher starting price of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and consumer preference for higher-storage variants have driven a 5% increase in the Average Selling Price (ASP) for the iPhone 15 series. Samsung Display remains a major supplier, but LG Display and BOE have also entered the supply chain, contributing to the series’ growing demand.

Google is reportedly working on its next-generation wearable device, which is likely to be called Google Pixel Watch 2. Ahead of the official launch, the watch faces for the device have leaked.

There are four different categories of watch faces – Accessible, Arc, Bold Digital, and Analog Bold. The four watch faces that fall into the Accessible category are named Just Time, Circular, Linear, and Stacked Time.

On the other hand, the Arc category watch faces are a bit complex and highly customizable. There are six variants overall, but each has two sub-variant with a choice of either two or four complication slots.

The Bold Digital category is in line with screen clocks for Pixel phones running Android 14. This category uses bold, overlapping font and colorful palettes. Lastly, Analog Bold looks like a combo between the Arc and Bold Digital watch faces.

Apart from the customizable watch faces, the upcoming Google Pixel Watch 2 is expected to have some additional features in the Wear OS 4, like dynamic theming to adopt a custom color scheme for the watch’s user interface.

Although wearable technologies are generally limited to smartwatches and wristbands today, tech companies continue to work on new innovations. Most recently, Humane, a company founded by a former Apple designer, demonstrated a combadge-like wearable with a projected screen. Here are the details…

Humane introduces innovative wearable device with translation and projection features

Apple frequently recruits the best and brightest names to develop top-notch products. As a result, companies founded by experienced individuals who have left Apple often attract attention. Imran Chaudhri is one of those names. Having worked as a designer at Apple for many years, Chaudhri has been focusing on wearable technologies at his own company called Humane for some time. The first product resulting from these efforts was unveiled at the TED 2023 conference.

Chaudhri, who chose the TED 2023 conference to showcase the wearable AI projector developed by Humane, put on an impressive show. In short, the device appears as a part of your clothing and is largely concealed. Only the projection, camera, and speaker components are exposed. This exposed part doesn’t look much different from a designer emblem or science fiction movie logo.

So, what exactly does Humane’s device do, and will it replace smartphones? Although Imran Chaudhri uses slogans like “you won’t need a phone anymore,” this isn’t entirely accurate. The device has a projection feature, as mentioned earlier, and it uses various surfaces, including your palm, to display images by reflecting them. It’s unclear how well this gadget, which looked quite successful during the demonstration, will perform in real life. Additionally, it’s a matter of curiosity whether users will trade their AMOLED screen phones for a greenish projection.

Of course, Humane’s wearable technology isn’t limited to this feature alone. Adopting artificial intelligence technology, the device could be particularly great for tourism. In one usage scenario, it translates what Chaudhri says into his voice fluently. This innovative solution could be especially helpful for users who want to visit other cities without a tour guide but struggle with communication difficulties. Naturally, the features Humane will offer with this product aren’t limited to these. However, to see them, the device needs to be ready for market launch. Unfortunately, we don’t have any information about the release date or price for now.

The glasses are designed to be stylish and ergonomic, with a weight of only 38.1g.

The glasses feature an open sound field, double anti-leakage, noise reduction during calls, long battery life, dual-device connection, and ultra-long touch on both sides. The glasses use a 128mm 2 ultra-dynamic balance unit, an SBS2.0 double-suspension balance structure, and a sound surround algorithm for an immersive audio experience. They also have a dual-microphone beam AI call noise reduction algorithm that enhances the call effect intelligently, restoring timbre and providing a stable and clear voice conference.

Earlier this month, Honor announced its new wearable device named Honor Band 7 NFC, which as the name itself indicates, is another model of the Band 7 fitness tracker with support for NFC connectivity.

Today, the Honor Band 7 NFC version finally goes on sale in the Chinese market. While the product is priced at 289 yuan (~$42), it will be available at a discounted price of 239 yuan (approximately $35) for the first sale.

This new model of the fitness tracker is being offered in three color options in China — Rose Pink, Cedar Blue, and Magic Night Black.

The Honor Band 7 NFC features a 1.47-inch color touchscreen AMOLED display with 2.5D curved edges and 282 PPI pixel density. It comes with support for multiple watch faces, which can be customized using the companion application.

There are tons of health and fitness-related features, including support of Sp02 blood oxygen level measurement, auto sleep monitoring, female health tracking, up to 96 different sports mode tracking, and more.

Additional features on the device include support for Bluetooth remote photo capture, music control, notification reminder, and find my phone, among others. The company adds that users can view complete health data such as stress level, SpO2 level, and overall health score using the companion application.

It is powered by a 180mAh battery, which the company promises can offer up to two weeks of usage on a full charge. It supports fast charging but the device needs to be charged using the magnetic charger provided in the box.

A new report has revealed interesting details regarding the wearable market in India. In 2022, smartwatches and hearables have seen robust growth, while smart bands/wrist bands have seen a major decline. Here are all the details.

An IDC report found that India saw 30.72 million units of smartwatches being shipped in 2022, which marks a whopping 151.3 percent growth over the previous year which saw just 12.22 million units in sales. On a similar positive trend even the hearables category saw a 28 percent growth year on year, reaching 68.83 million units in shipments last year. However, the wrist band category saw a hefty 84.4 percent decline during this same period, shipping just around 592,000 units in the whole year, compared to 2.2 million units in 2021.

One of the reasons for the decline of smart bands is due to the falling price tags of smartwatches. The latter are generally more powerful and more capable in terms of functionality, so its not surprising that cheaper smartwatches have basically replaced these gadgets. Brands that took advantage of this includes boAt and Noise that took the two top spots in the wearable market in India, with a 29.3 percent and 12.2 percent market share respectively.

Notably, OnePlus also rounded up the top 3 list with an 8.7 percent market share. While most brands saw a rise in this time, boAt’s market share saw a decline but it still leads the market. A few months ago, along with the regular Galaxy Watch 5 wearable device, Samsung also launched the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and the Galaxy Watch Golf Edition.

Now, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Golf Edition, which is already available for purchase in South Korea and United States, is finally made available in the United Kingdom.

The Golf Edition version of the wearable comes with a black-colored body and new straps, as well as some tailored features for golfers through the Smart Caddie app.

It comes in three versions — 40mm, 44mm, and 45mm and the major difference between the regular version and the Golf Edition is the software. It comes with the Smart Caddie application pre-installed which has a database of over 40,000 courses around the world.

The wearable device offers additional features like golf tracking, coaching, visual and audio cues for a better playing experience. It still offers all the features that the regular Galaxy Watch 5 offers. Apart from the software, there’s no difference in the wearable device.

As for the pricing in the UK, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Golf Edition 40mm model is priced at £319 (~$395), while the 44mm version costs £339 (~$420). On the other hand, the Galaxy Watch5 Pro Golf Edition 45mm model costs £479 (~$594). All three models are available for pre-order at Samsung’s website and the sale is set to start on 26th January.
