<p>Xiaomi keeps expanding its product range. Many of us know the company for its smartphones, but thanks to its sub-brands, it has a wide range of products, from smart scales to water heaters. For instance, Xiaomi introduced us to its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/08/01/xiaomi-x-series-smart-tv-launches-in-india-with/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">X Series smart TV models</a> today. Now, Xiaomi&#8217;s sub-brand FIMI is introducing the &#8220;Manta&#8221; drone, which features vertical takeoff, an 85-minute flight time, and advanced GPS, all for a price of 999 CNY ($140). Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>The 999 yuan Xiaomi FIMI drone is here: support vertical take-off and landing</strong></h2>

<p>Xiaomi&#8217;s sub-brand, FIMI, has released a new fixed-wing drone called the Manta. The drone can take off and land vertically, and it has a wingspan of 700mm and a length of 445mm. It weighs 500g and can cruise at a speed of 43km/h. The drone can fly for up to 60 minutes with a 3000mAh battery, or up to 85 minutes with a 5000mAh battery.</p>

<p>The Manta has four serial ports, a GPS HD FPV, a CRSF protocol receiver, and two IIC interfaces. It can be equipped with an electronic compass and airspeed sensor, but these are not included in the factory package. convert price to usd: The Manta is priced at 999 CNY, which is much cheaper than FIMI&#8217;s previous drone, the FIMI X8 SE 2020, which was priced at 2,699 CNY.</p>

<p>The Manta is a great drone for people who want a versatile and affordable way to capture aerial footage. According to the companies statement, it is easy to fly and has a long flight time, making it perfect for beginners and experienced pilots alike.</p>

The company has been teasing the new device for the past few days, revealing some features as well. Now, the latest teaser for the Xiaomi drone reveals another important feature of the device &#8212; portability.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-83785" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/xiaomi-drone-teaser.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi drone teaser" width="690" height="1226" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/xiaomi-drone-teaser.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/xiaomi-drone-teaser-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/xiaomi-drone-teaser-576x1024.jpg 576w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>The teaser shows that the Xiaomi drone can be carried around inside a regular backpack, which means the product&#8217;s form factor would be compact. This is definitely good news since carrying around a large drone can be a hassle and it is always better if you can fit it inside your everyday backpack while travelling.</p>
<p>In case you remember, the earlier teasers had confirmed that the new <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/05/22/heres-first-look-xiaomi-drone-rotating-camera-video/">drone will come with a four-rotor design and a rotating camera</a>. The drone is said to support 4K video capture at 30 fps. As for the pricing, it is said that the new drone will be priced at around 3999 Yuan ($610) which will be great considering that this will be a high-end drone comparable with market leaders.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">RELATED:</span> <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/18/patented-xiaomi-drone-controlled-via-mi-band-wearable/">Xiaomi&#8217;s New Drone Could Be Controlled Via Mi Wearable</a></strong></p>
<p>Xiaomi has a tradition of disrupting the existing market leaders and looks like it is all set to do this in the UAV market as well. At present, the popular DJI is known for its Phantom and Inspire series drones, but these are costly products and out of the reach of many everyday drone lovers. Xiaomi&#8217;s new offering could be a potential solution to such buyers, who want to get the best out of their new drone without having to empty their pockets.</p>
<p>It is said that<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/05/19/xiaomis-drone-will-meet-us-next-week-teaser-gives-us-first-glimpse/"> Xiaomi won&#8217;t be manufacturing the new drone</a>, instead has given this to a third party manufacturer. We will get more details during the launch tomorrow, so stay tuned for more details.</p>

We have already got a glimpse of the device, revealing a powerful setup and now, the first teaser video of the drone has been released. The new teaser gives us a much better look of the device, including its rotors, and camera.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-83527" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/mi-drone-rotorss.png?x44794" alt="mi drone rotorss" width="443" height="251" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/mi-drone-rotorss.png 443w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/mi-drone-rotorss-300x170.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 443px) 100vw, 443px" /></p>
<p>First of all, the Xiaomi drone will be using a four-rotor design, as mentioned earlier. Also, like expected, the camera on board will be a rotating one, which means you can capture images and videos with the help of the drone in flight from various angles.</p>
<p>
<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/mi-drone-02.png?x44794'><img width="445" height="252" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/mi-drone-02.png?x44794" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/mi-drone-02.png 445w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/mi-drone-02-300x170.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 445px) 100vw, 445px" /></a>
<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/mi-drone-01.png?x44794'><img width="442" height="250" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/mi-drone-01.png?x44794" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/mi-drone-01.png 442w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/mi-drone-01-300x170.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 442px) 100vw, 442px" /></a>
</p>
<p>It definitely looks like an exciting device! Check out the <a href="http://www.miaopai.com/show/uxuyOpdHFDqCX3KQaIWKAA__.htm">whole video from here</a>.</p>
<p>Specs wise, we haven&#8217;t got much information, but it is said that the<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/05/19/xiaomi-drone-way/"> new drone will be able to capture 4K videos at 30 fps</a>. Also, the company is reportedly trying to compete with established drone makers like DJI, which means we can expect a lot of high-end features on the upcoming device. What&#8217;s more, pricing is expected to be around 3000 Yuan ($610), which will be great, if it has half of the features of the 8999 Yuan ($1375) DJI Phantom, which is considered one of the best in its class.</p>

However, earlier in May, Lei Jun, Xiaomi&#8217;s CEO revealed that the new drone from the company was real and it <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/05/11/xiaomi-drone-coming-end-month/">would be announced by the end of this month</a>. Just as promised, the company has now officially confirmed the release of the Xiaomi drone next week.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-83455" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/xiaomi-drone-teaser-date.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi drone teaser date" width="690" height="1227" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/xiaomi-drone-teaser-date.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/xiaomi-drone-teaser-date-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/xiaomi-drone-teaser-date-576x1024.jpg 576w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>Xiaomi&#8217;s official Weibo account released a new poster on its page revealing that that the company&#8217;s first drone will debut on May 25 at 19:00. The teaser also gives us a first glimpse of what the new UAV will look like. It seems that the drone will come equipped with a ball shaped camera (could be rotating) at the bottom and four rotors on top. The image does make it look a bit large, but in reality the size could be smaller.</p>
<p>Unlike <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/02/16/xiaomi-drone-leaked-rumored-release-mwc-2016/">earlier rumors</a>, recent reports have said that Xiaomi&#8217;s <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/05/19/xiaomi-drone-way/">first drone is actually going to be an high-end on</a>e. The new drone is said to be able to capture 4K videos at 30 fps and come with other top-end features to rival products from companies like DJI. On the other hand, the cost is said to be kept competitive, around $600 which would less than half of what you would usually have to shell out for a powerful camera drone like<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/05/05/wltoys-q333-dji-inspire-1-clone-30-times-cheaper/"> DJI</a> Phantom.</p>
<p>Since there&#8217;s still a few days for the launch, expect Xiaomi to reveal more interesting details about its drone. So, stay tuned!</p>

We have all been waiting patiently for this event for the past few weeks and our wait has almost come to an end. In less than 24 hours, the event kicks off and we will meet the one of the most awaited smartphones of the year, the Xiaomi Mi 5. However, it looks like this may not be the only product that will meet us at the event tomorrow.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-spring-festival-announcements.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-73363" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-spring-festival-announcements.png?x44794" alt="xiaomi spring festival announcements" width="601" height="504" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-spring-festival-announcements.png 601w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-spring-festival-announcements-300x252.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-spring-festival-announcements-600x503.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-spring-festival-announcements-501x420.png 501w" sizes="(max-width: 601px) 100vw, 601px" /></a></p>
<p>According to the noted analyst, Pan Jiutang, Xiaomi may announce another product at the event tomorrow. This is possible since the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/01/20/images-xiaomis-meeting-shows-2-hour-long-mi-5-event-another-product/">event goes on for a whole two hours</a>, which is long enough for a couple of product announcements. The analyst revealed this info via his weibo page. He said that there would be more products in addition to the Xiaomi Mi 5 and that he was looking forward to &#8216;one more thing&#8217;.</p>
<p>At this point of time, there are a couple of guesses for the second product. It could be the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/02/16/xiaomi-drone-leaked-rumored-release-mwc-2016/">rumored Xiaomi drone</a>, that we all have seen in renders and pictures. But given that an executive claims that the drone would be announced later, we are not quite sure of this.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/mi-purifier-teaser.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-73362" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/mi-purifier-teaser.jpg?x44794" alt="mi purifier teaser" width="440" height="782" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/mi-purifier-teaser.jpg 440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/mi-purifier-teaser-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/mi-purifier-teaser-236x420.jpg 236w" sizes="(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px" /></a></p>
<p>However, what seems to be more likely is a new Mi Water Purifier. Now you may think that this possibility has come out of the blue. But there&#8217;s some backing to this reasoning. The company&#8217;s Mi Purifier account released a new teaser image a few hours back, which shows off a product that&#8217;s likely the next generation purifier. You can check out the image from above.</p>
<p>There could be other products as well, but Xiaomi is yet to reveal anything about them. Anyways, let&#8217;s wait for the event tomorrow, to get official details about the company&#8217;s new products.</p>
<p>Also, you can check out the live stream of the event tomorrow directly on Youtube from below.</p>

Considering drones are becoming quite popular among users in the last few months, this could be true, however, Xiaomi has not yet confirmed or even hinted about such a release till now.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-drone-leak-01.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-72630" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-drone-leak-01.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi drone leak 01" width="480" height="360" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-drone-leak-01.jpg 480w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-drone-leak-01-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-drone-leak-01-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-drone-leak-01-100x75.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-drone-leak-01-180x135.jpg 180w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-drone-leak-01-238x178.jpg 238w" sizes="(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px" /></a></p>
<p>Today, we have come across a new leaked photo of the long rumored Xiaomi drone. The image shows a four rotor powered UAV in black color. Further, the source states that the drone should be around 350mm long, which makes it quite big. At present, it is said that Xiaomi holds a number of patents for the drone like its remote control, flight control, image transmission, camera etc.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-drone-leak-02.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-72629" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-drone-leak-02.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi drone leak 02" width="600" height="425" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-drone-leak-02.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-drone-leak-02-300x213.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/xiaomi-drone-leak-02-593x420.jpg 593w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Considering Xiaomi&#8217;s tradition of entering an industry with low-cost products, it&#8217;s likely that this rumored Xiaomi drone is priced aggressively. There are a lot of established and upcoming players in the Chinese UAV market like DJI, Yuneec and pricing could be one area where Xiaomi may have an edge.</p>
<p>At this moment, we don&#8217;t have any more information about the device. However, a <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/18/patented-xiaomi-drone-controlled-via-mi-band-wearable/">leaked patent document had revealed </a>that the Xiaomi drone could be controlled via its Mi Band wearable. It could come with features such as &#8216;follow me&#8217; to take various pictures as well as videos even when the user is in motion. As for the release, rumors say it could be as early as MWC 2016.</p>
<p>If Xiaomi manages to release its first drone at an aggressive price, would you consider buying it? What price do you think is ideal for a drone with the above-said features?</p>

This is an important event for all tech companies, particularly smartphone manufacturers as almost everyone has something new to showcase during the four-day period.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/mi5-at-MWC.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-71238" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/mi5-at-MWC.jpg?x44794" alt="mi5 at MWC" width="600" height="300" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/mi5-at-MWC.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/mi5-at-MWC-300x150.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Xiaomi has been particularly quiet about its intentions of expanding into European and North American markets. The presence of the company at MWC 2016 could be an indication of its plans to enter new markets in the region. As a result, it becomes important for Xiaomi to showcase the best products at the event which will be held from February 22 to February 25, 2016.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #339966;">So, here&#8217;s what to expect from Xiaomi at MWC 2016.</span></strong></p>
<h2><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;">Xiaomi Mi 5</span></strong></h2>
<p>Xiaomi has confirmed that it will showcase its flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 5 at MWC 2016. This will undoubtedly be the company&#8217;s most important product of the event this year. It&#8217;s a flagship in the making for more than one and half years, and there&#8217;s a lot of expectations from fans worldwide that the company needs to deliver with the Mi 5.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/xiaomi-mi5-twovariants-leaked-01.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-69605" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/xiaomi-mi5-twovariants-leaked-01.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi-mi5-twovariants-leaked-01" width="600" height="503" /></a></p>
<p>Several sources have revealed a Xiaomi Mi 5 with a physical home button up front. The renders also show that the phone will come in multiple colors such as white, black, pink and gold.</p>
<p>As for the specs, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to come with a 5.2-inch display with FHD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. There will most likely be multiple RAM + Storage versions, like 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB. At the back, you can expect a 16MP shooter with Laser Autofocus, while up front an 8MP sensor.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">RELATED:</span></strong> <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/14/heres-xiaomi-mi-5-renders-seen-till-date/">All Xiaomi Mi 5 Renders So Far</a></p>
<p>These were the unconfirmed specifications of the Mi 5. There are some features which were officially confirmed by company executives like the <strong>CPU: <span style="color: #ff0000;">Snapdragon 820</span>, Screen Resolution: <span style="color: #ff0000;">FHD 1080p</span>, Connectivity Features: <span style="color: #ff0000;">Dual SIM, NFC</span></strong>. You can read more about all the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/02/03/xiaomi-mi-5-confirmed-features-far/">confirmed features of the Xiaomi Mi 5 from this article.</a></p>
<p>Pricing is still unclear, but earlier rumors have said that the Mi 5 will be slightly costlier than its predecessor, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2014/08/26/heres-a-comparison-of-xiaomi-mi4-and-xiaomi-mi3/">the Mi 4</a>. The expected pricing is said to be <strong>2499 Yuan ($380)</strong> for the base variant. You can expect the prices to go north from this figure for the other variants (we expect a number of Xiaomi Mi 5 variants).</p>
<p>As for the release, the phone is <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/01/05/xiaomi-mi-5-confirmed-feature-snapdragon-820-will-available-plenty-spring-festival/">confirmed to be available within a week after it&#8217;s launched officially</a>. So, at least, users in China should be able to purchase/ pre-order a brand new Xiaomi Mi 5 by the start of March 2016.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h5>Now that we have covered Mi 5,<strong> which is the only product confirmed to meet us at MWC 2016</strong>, its time to look at products which are <em>rumored</em> to be launched at the event.</h5>
<h5></h5>
<h2><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;">Xiaomi Drone</span></span></strong></h2>
<p>Xiaomi has been rumored to be working on a drone for the past few months. This is not really surprising given the company&#8217;s interest in a lot of different categories, ranging from gadgets in the wearable industry to home appliances.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-031.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-67500" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-031.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi drone patent doc 03" width="600" height="386" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-031.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-031-300x194.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-031-341x220.jpg 341w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/02/08/xiaomi-is-coming-out-with-a-drone-that-follows-you-around/" target="_blank">latest rumors indicate</a> that the company could launch its first drone / UAV at MWC 2016. Since this is yet to be confirmed by any means, we would advise you to take this rumor with a pinch salt. Still, the rumors about Xiaomi&#8217;s first drone is interesting enough to be worth checking out.</p>
<p>We had heard about <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/18/patented-xiaomi-drone-controlled-via-mi-band-wearable/">Xiaomi patenting some of the features of its upcoming drone</a> back in December. The same documents have cropped up online recently, with the additional rumor that the company will announce it at MWC 2016.</p>
<p>The company seems to be working on an interesting device. From the patent documents leaked, it seems that Xiaomi&#8217;s drone can be controlled via its Mi Band wearable. Given that the Mi Band lacks a display, we guess the drone could be controlled via hand gestured supported by the wearable as well as the companion Mi Band Android / iOS app.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-021.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-67501" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-021.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi drone patent doc 02" width="600" height="351" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-021.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-021-300x176.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The images further show that the Xiaomi Drone could have a &#8216;follow me&#8217; feature. So, you could be just wearing the Mi Band, riding you bicycle and the drone could follow you from above, taking pictures and videos of your ride. If it works well, this feature could attract a lot of adventure enthusiasts, enabling them to take shots from angles, and places, not easily accessible before.</p>
<p>The rumors further add that Xiaomi may not manufacture the drone, rather it could focus on marketing and selling the device. So, the actual manufacturer of the drone could be a different company. Also, the drone is said to focus on the lower price band, so it may not compete with market leaders such as DJI.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><span style="color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;">Other Products: </span></strong></span></h2>
<p>So, the Xiaomi Mi 5 and the Xiaomi drone were the two possible new launches that can be showcased at the event. However, Xiaomi most likely won&#8217;t miss the opportunity to show off its existing products at MWC 2016. So, you can expect best sellers from the company like <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/15/xiaomi-redmi-note-3-review-the-best-budget-smartphone-redefined/">Redmi Note 3</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/01/21/xiaomi-redmi-3-review/">Redmi 3</a> and even other products such as the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/30/xiaomi-launch-70-inch-version-mi-tv-3-priced-9999-yuan/">Xiaomi Mi TV3</a> and <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/03/31/xiaomi-smart-weighing-scale-announced-for-99-yuan-16/">Mi smart scale</a> at the event.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/xiaomi-Mi-TV-3.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-61740" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/xiaomi-Mi-TV-3.png?x44794" alt="xiaomi Mi TV 3" width="718" height="359" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/xiaomi-Mi-TV-3.png 718w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/xiaomi-Mi-TV-3-300x150.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/xiaomi-Mi-TV-3-600x300.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/xiaomi-Mi-TV-3-640x320.png 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/xiaomi-Mi-TV-3-681x341.png 681w" sizes="(max-width: 718px) 100vw, 718px" /></a></p>
<p>So, mark your calendars &#8212; Xiaomi Mi 5 and lot many products are coming our way at MWC 2016!</p>

However, up till now, there haven&#8217;t been any concrete leak regarding this product. Now, new patent documents reveal a few details about the company&#8217;s drone in development. The patent was filed by the company back in August.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-031.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-67500" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-031.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi drone patent doc 03" width="600" height="386" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-031.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-031-300x194.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-031-341x220.jpg 341w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>According to the recently published patent documents from the Chinese Intellectual Property Office, the Xiaomi drone in development could be controlled via a wearable. For example, in the images revealed by the office, it looks like the user is able to make gestures to control the various functions of the drone.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-021.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-67501" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-021.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi drone patent doc 02" width="600" height="351" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-021.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-021-300x176.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Xiaomi drone could be connected to Xiaomi&#8217;s own Mi Band wearable. Once connected, the user can perform simple gestures like a flick of a wrist to control the UAV. For instance, in one of the images, we see that a user riding a bike is performing some gestures to send some command to the drone above. Our guess is that the gesture could be a signal for the drone to hover above the user on the bike and start shooting a video.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-011.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-67502" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-011.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi drone patent doc 01" width="500" height="550" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-011.jpg 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-011-273x300.jpg 273w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/xiaomi-drone-patent-doc-011-382x420.jpg 382w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>It looks like such gestures could really come in handy for adventure enthusiasts. Shooting from a drone opens up new angles and opportunity for such users.</p>
<p>Earlier rumors have said that the drone could be priced at around 999 Yuan ($154). If the Xiaomi drone does feature such gestures, would you be willing to shell out $154 for such a UAV?</p>
