Xiaomi announced the Mi Watch Color in late December 2019 as a toned-down version of Mi Watch. This smartwatch recently debuted in India and Europe as Mi Watch Revolve and Mi Watch respectively. Whereas, in China, as the original wearable is about to be a year old now, the company is teasing to reveal an updated model tomorrow (October 20).

The teaser poster for the successor to Mi Watch Color was shared by the Xiaomi Smart Life Weibo account. The poster reveals the upcoming smartwatch will retain the circular design and will arrive with a SpO2 sensor to measure blood oxygen levels.

In case you are not aware, the original Mi Watch Color lacks a SpO2 sensor, which is present in other wearables in the same as well as cheaper price segments.

Hence, it is a welcome addition, however, the Mi Watch Color has launched in global markets only now, and therefore, customers in those regions may have to wait for a longer period of the time for the upgraded model.

That said, the caption of the post also teases the new watch to come with more sports modes as well as battery life. Apart from these parameters, we are not sure what other changes the new model will feature.

Anyway, we expect to know more about the Xiaomi Mi Watch Color successor tomorrow.

Xiaomi is on a launch spree since the beginning of this year in India. After releasing a wide variety of smartphones, some laptops, and televisions, the company has scheduled another event for September 29 called “Smarter Living 2021”. The teaser image shared by Xiaomi hints at a number of products that will be unveiled at this virtual event.

Last year, Xiaoami held a similar launch event in India at which the company introduced new Mi TV models, Mi Smart Water Purifier, and Mi Smart Band 4 to name a few. We can expect the firm to announce a follow-up to these products and much-more going by the teaser.

That said, the teaser image with SMARTER LIVING 2021 art includes outlines of the following Xiaomi ecosystem products.

• Mi Smart Band 5
• Mi Watch Revolve (Xiaomi Watch Color)
• Shoes (Mijia Sneakers 4?)
• Smart Bulb
• Mijia Automatic Soap Dispenser 

Apart from these products, Xiaomi may also launch new Mi TVs according to a report from July. It may also introduce new laptop models but we wouldn’t stress on it.

Anyway, what we can tell for sure is that the company will definitely launch Mi Smart Band 5 and Mi Watch Revolve as per the teaser picture and a leak from reliable tipster Ishan Agarwal.

Xiaomi launched its first-ever smartwatch called Mi Watch in November 2019. A month later, the company released a stripped-down version of this wearable called Mi Watch Color. Unlike the previous model, this one does not run Wear OS and features a circular design instead of square. Now, as per new findings, it might launch globally as Mi Watch Revolve.

According to XDA Developers, the new version of Mi Watch app has a listing for Mi Watch Revolve, which is nothing but a rebranded Mi Watch Color. Similarly, there’s also a listing for Mi Smart Band 4C, which was previously tipped to be a rebadged Redmi Band for global markets.

Further, there’s also an unboxing video of Mi Watch Revolve on a Spanish YouTube channel called eSavants. The YouTuber purchased it from AliExpress but the product listing has its original name ‘Xiaomi Watch Color’.

The Mi Watch Color shares its features with Amazfit GTR, however, it is not manufactured by Huami like Mi Bands. Instead, it is made by Shanghai Suo Prime Technology Ltd., another company under Xiaomi’s ecological chain.

Anyway, it is still a good wearable, at least on paper, retailing for 799 Yuan ($113) in China. Having said that, the global price could be slightly higher and may vary depending on regions it will be sold.

During the Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth Edition launch event earlier today (27th April 2020), the company also unveiled its new collaborative product, the Watch Color x Keith Haring Special Edition. It was teased last week by the Chinese tech giant and has now been officially announced, with a price tag of 899 Yuan (roughly 126 US Dollars) and tagline that “art is for everyone.”

The Xiaomi Watch Color Keith Haring special edition is a new variant of the company’s wearable product. As the name suggests, it is a limited variant which the company is offering through cooperation with the Keith Haring Foundation. For those unaware, Keith Haring was a popular artist and activist that was a part of the iconic art style in New York back in the 1980s.

Honorable Mention Watch GT 2e – this is a more sports-oriented version of the Watch GT 2. It boasts the same 2-week battery life and can also track several physical activities with the addition of personalized training modes for activities such as skateboarding, surfing, parkour, and rock climbing. The price is €199.

Amazfit GTR – Best Battery Life

When it comes to smartwatches and fitness trackers, Amazfit has become a sort of household name. The manufacturer (Huami) is not only known for its Amazfit-branded products which also includes earbuds and running shoes but is also known as the contractor for Xiaomi’s Mi Band fitness trackers. 

The Amazfit GTR is the first of a new series of smartwatches from the manufacturer. It has a lot going for it from its Gorilla Glass protected AMOLED display to its aluminum/stainless steel/titanium bezel to its support for 12 different activities including elliptical, swimming, and free training. However, top of it all is its 24-day battery life (up to 74 days in basic watch mode) which puts that of the Huawei Watch GT 2 to shame.

The GTR is available in two sizes – 47mm and 42mm – and also comes in several color variants. It is also pretty affordable with a price tag that starts at ¥799 (~$113). However, it sells for a bit higher from third-party retailers.

Amazfit GTS – An Amazfit GTR in a different body

Don’t like round watches, the Amazfit GTS has got you covered with its Super-Retina-grade square AMOLED display. Even with its minimalist design, the GTS is a stylish watch and packs several of the same features as the GTR. It has GPS, NFC, up to 12 activity tracking, music playback control, a heart rate sensor, and is waterproof up to 50 meters. It also has an amazing battery life – up to 46 days in basic watch mode and 14 days of regular use (NFC, notifications, GPS on for 30 minutes each day, sleep monitoring, and heart rate monitoring on).

The Amazfit GTS launched with a more expensive price tag than the GTR and can be purchased for $160 on Giztop.

OPPO Watch – Premium but familiar design

OPPO joined the smartwatch-makers league this year with the OPPO Watch. The smartwatch’s design is greatly-inspired by Apple’s own watch which might make it unpopular among folks who do not want people calling their smartwatch a clone. Design aside, the OPPO Watch is actually a pretty capable smartwatch.

The 46mm version of the watch has a 1.91-inch flexible hyperboloid AMOLED display. Unlike several of the watches on this list, you can download apps onto the OPPO Watch, thanks to its Android-based ColorOS Watch system.

Alongside all the tracking and measuring you will expect of a smartwatch, the OPPO Watch can also make and receive calls even without being paired to a phone and that is because it has an eSIM and cellular connectivity. You can choose to have a different phone number for the watch or have it share one with your phone.

With respect to battery life, the OPPO Watch can last up to 21 days in power saver mode (or basic watch mode). Smart Mode which is when you use all the features including as a phone and connected to the internet, its battery life is 40 hours. Thankfully, the watch supports Watch VOOC fast charge, allowing you to charge it from empty to 50% in just 17 minutes.

The OPPO Watch starts at ¥1499 (~$212) for the 41mm aluminum version and goes up to ¥2499 (~$354) for the Stainless Steel 46mm version.

Mi Watch – A 4G Smartwatch with a familiar design

The Mi Watch launched before the OPPO Watch above and got its own fair share of  “Apple Watch-clone” remarks. We’ll leave it to you to decide which one is more of a clone. When you finally accept the design, you will realize it actually packs some really interesting features.

This watch has an eSIM, 4G, a Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor, and a custom-version of Wear OS called MIUI for Watch. There is support for app downloads, NFC payments, and a built-in smart assistant (XiaoAI). The Mi Watch also boasts a 2-day battery life.

The Mi Watch has a starting price of ¥1299 (~$185).

Xiaomi Watch Color – A less-expensive Amazfit GTR (47mm) but without the battery life

The Xiaomi Watch Color can be termed as a less-expensive alternative to the Amazfit GTR. It has a similar design and even shares some of its specs but skips on some features such as battery life (2-weeks for normal use and 22 days in basic watch mode ) and the number of activities it can track (down to 10). However, you do get NFC, GPS+GLONASS, heart-rate monitoring, and sleep tracking. One feature it has that the Amazfit GTR doesn’t is a built-in smart assistant (XiaoAI) though one that users outside China will find useless.

The Xiaomi Watch Color has an MSRP of ¥799 (~$113) but sells up north of $130 from 3rd-party retailers.

Haylou Watch Solar – Budget with a big B

You are probably wondering why a watch that is yet to go on sale is on this list. Yes, that is because we have faith in the Haylou Watch Solar based on what its sibling, the Haylou LS01, offers.

The Halou Solar is the cheapest watch on this list with a price tag that is a third of the second-cheapest watch on the list. A low-price tag isn’t the only thing this watch has got to offer. The watch has a 1.28-inch display (TFT not AMOLED) that Haylou claims is bright even under direct sunlight. While they have skipped on the type of display, the rest of the features are great.

You get a metal frame (surprisingly not plastic) and 22mm silicone rubber straps (not sure about the quality of the straps, you can purchase replacement bands made from various other materials).

The Haylou Solar can track a total of 12 physical activities including gymnastics, basketball, soccer, yoga, and rowing. It also has 24-hour heart-rate monitoring, sleep tracking, music playback control, and support for notification alerts. Haylou tops it off with a 30-day battery life in basic watch mode (2 weeks with 24-hour heart rate tracking).

The Haylou Solar has an MSRP of ¥149 (~$21) but expect it to sell for between $30 – $35 when it goes on sale. Even at that, it sure is still one of the cheapest smartwatches you can buy.

It is a known fact that the Mi Band line is manufactured for Xiaomi by Huami. However, Huami is not the manufacturer behind the new Xiaomi Watch Color. Based on our findings, the smartwatch is manufactured by Shanghai Suo Prime Technology LTD, a company under Xiaomi’s ecological chain.

It is not a big surprise that Huami is not the manufacturer of the watch since it is practically taking on its Amazfit GTR smartwatch. But while we may begin to look at the two brands as competitors, Huami’s CEO revealed last month that Huawei is actually the competition and not Xiaomi.

That actually makes sense seeing as Xiaomi’s own smartwatches are not sold outside China, yet. Huami sells its Amazfit line of smartwatches in several markets abroad just like Huawei, so both are actually fighting for the same set of customers.

Xiaomi may eventually launch its Mi Watch and Watch Color smartwatches outside China but its main focus will likely remain on the Mi Band line which is what has pushed it to the top of the wearable devices market.

The Xiaomi Watch Color will be available for purchase tomorrow, and while we already know quite a lot about the watch, there are still some unknown details. Thanks to a pre-order page on Mi.com and the Youpin store, we now know all the details of the smartwatch.

Design

The Xiaomi Watch Color has a circular dial and will be available in Elegant Black and Fashion Silver. Both color variants have appeared in the live photos we have seen in the last few days. Unfortunately, there is no way to choose the strap you want at checkout but the page said owners will be able to purchase different straps later. Xiaomi also said the watch will ship with silicone straps and advises not to purchase third-party straps as they may cause allergies.

The page also explains the 1540 designs we have seen in the promotional images. Of course, we do not expect that there will be more than a few options to choose from. However, Xiaomi says you can actually have up to 1540 different combinations and the math is that there are 2 color options, 110 different dials to choose from, and seven different straps (six silicone and one alligator leather strap) to choose from. So if you mix any of these, you can get a total of 1540 different combinations. There will also be more dials in the future, so the number of combinations will increase.

Specifications and Features

The Xiaomi Watch Color has a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a 454 x 454 resolution enclosed in a stainless steel frame. It has a dial size of 46.2 millimeters (46.2 x 53.3 x 11.4mm) but there are rumors there will be a 42mm version too. It connects via Bluetooth 5.0 LE, has GPS and GLONASS, and is water-resistant up to 50 meters.

The watch also has NFC and supports bus-card payments in several cities across China. The product page says it has an ambient light sensor, a gyroscope, a geomagnetic sensor, an accelerometer, and a barometer.

The battery capacity is 420mAh which Xiaomi claims will last up to 14 days in typical watch mode, 22 days in basic mode, and 22 hours in outdoor sports mode. The watch ships with a circular charger that attaches to the base via magnets.

The smartwatch can track a total of 10 activities. They are outdoor running, indoor running (treadmill), trail running, climbing, outdoor cycling, elliptical training, walking, free training, indoor swimming, and open water swimming. Xiaomi said tracking for indoor and open water swimming will be available via an OTA update.

The watch can also measure VO2Max and uses FIRSTBEAT to analyze your physical activity and provide professional training guidance. It measures your heart rate (24-hour monitoring), stress level, and tracks your sleep too. The watch also monitors in real-time what it calls energy level and will tell you to take a break when you have engaged in energy-draining tasks.

The Xiaomi Watch Color has Xiaomi’s XiaoAI Assistant built-in, so you can use it to control your smart home products or ask it questions. However, the watch only has a microphone but doesn’t have a speaker, so responses will be displayed on the screen.

The Xiaomi Watch Color does not run MIUI for Watch but has a similar user interface. It also does not have built-in storage for storing songs.

Price

The Xiaomi Watch Color will sell for ¥799 (~$115) but will sell for more on third-party reseller sites. If there is a 42mm version, we presume it may sell for ¥699 (~$100) or even less. You can pre-order the watch here or here.

Xiaomi will be launching its new Xiaomi Watch Color tomorrow in China. Ahead of the launch, the company has revealed some of the details but refrained from revealing full specifications and pricing details.

However, jus t a day before the Xiaomi Watch Color goes official in China, hands-on images of the wearable device has surfaced online which reveals the full design as well as some of the key features.

This is the second watch product coming from Xiaomi brand but it isn’t being labelled as a smartwatch given that the company is focusing more on the design of the device rather than functionality, in a stark contrast to the Mi Watch launched recently.

It comes with a 1.39-inch circular dial and has a diameter of about 47mm. The display offers pixel density of 326PPI which is protected by a layer of third-generation Corning Gorilla Glass.

Thanks to the all-black body and a black colored rubber strap, metal frame and circular display, the Xiaomi Watch Color is looking visually stunning. While the hands-on image shows black-colored strap, the company is offering six color options to choose from along with 110 built-in dials.

To operate this wearable device, the company is still offering the usual touch + physical button method. Unlike the Mi Watch, this new Watch Color comes with two physical buttons on the right side. One is a power button which is also used to navigate while the other one is for quick actions such as click-to-call, exercise mode, etc.

Although the Xiaomi Color Watch is not as smart as the company’s first smartwatch, it seems to be running MIUI for Watch interface, which isn’t confirmed yet. The functionality of the device is similar to the Mi Band 4 fitness tracker.

Interestingly, it also comes with support for XiaoAI smart assistant, making it easy for the user to control IoT product or smart home appliances with the Watch Color. However, it is reported that the wearable device lack vibration feedback for notifying action feedback.

The Xiaomi Watch also displays notifications on the screen from several applications including WeChat, up to 100 Chinese characters. However, do note that the watch does not support replying and just shows the notifications.

As the functionality is similar to the Mi Band 4, it does come with support for several fitness-related feature and thus packs multiple sensors, including third-generation HRM heart rate sensor along with Xiaomi’s motion algorithm.

The device is said to have 5ATM rating making it waterproof and comes with Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. Thanks to NFC support, it can be used to make payments as well. The Xiaomi Watch Color is powered by a 420mAh battery which is claimed to provide battery life of around 14 days on a single charge.

As said, the Xiaomi Watch Color is slated to launch and go on sale in China tomorrow, i.e. 3rd January 2020. It is said to be priced at 799 yuan which roughly converts to $115. To know for sure, we’ll have to wait for a few more hours.

Xiaomi had just recently unveiled its latest smart wearables product dubbed the Xiaomi Watch Color which is known for its impressively long battery life. And today (31st December 2019), the General Manager of Xiaomi’s Ecological Chain, Qu Heng, explained the strategy behind the Xiaomi Color Watch and the wearables/IoT devices as a whole through Weibo.

According to Qu Heng, many people did not expect a New Year release of a new wearable product. Furthermore, the Xiaomi Watch Color is a new start for the company which is now focusing on a new category that intends to deliver smart bands with a long-lasting battery life that is useful at work, exercising and even when relaxing.

True Smartwatches and Long lasting Smartwatches

One of the core ideas the General Manager wanted to get across is that he hopes the industry distinguishes between a “true smartwatch” and a “long battery life smartwatch.” He states that the difference between the two categories should be clear, offering the user more knowledge and the right to choose between both of them. Hu Qeng mentions that a true smartwatch should use eSIMs and have the ability to make calls and download apps, and function independently from a smartphone to some degree.

Customizability

Going forward, Xiaomi with the Watch Color also wanted to make the wearables a more sought after and attractive product; One that a person might wear fashionably as well as for utility. It needed to be trendy and yet maintain strong cultural attributes as well. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer apparently took cues from the Mi Band 4 and brought all the popular functions, themes, and UI functions to the Watch Color.

All of this translates to a freely customizable experience so the user is never bound to a particular look that an OEM dictates.

Making wearables more essential

Xiaomi had intended to make the Watch Color a more accessible and go to product from the company. It was meant to be more supplementary to a user’s life and not just a luxury tech product offered alongside its smartphones. In other words, it is not just an accessory but aims to be a part of one’s life. With the launch of the Xiaomi Watch Color, the company plans to target the individualistic needs of a user that may require a true smartwatch or a long-lasting smartwatch.

The Xiaomi Watch Color also fills in the gap between Mi Band 4 and Xiaomi Watch. The release was from a core strategic point of view and the new Xiaomi wearable product only seeks to boost its AIoT lineup. Lastly, this entry from the company might also end up encouraging other OEMs to offer long lasting smartwatches as well.

The Xiaomi Watch Color is trending today following its partial unveiling earlier in the morning. Hours later, more news about the new smartwatch keeps pouring in. The latest is a bunch of live photos of the smartwatch alongside pictures of the retail box which reveals some of the watch’s key specifications.

The images of the retail box were posted on Weibo by a user that goes by @科技小乙. The color variant is different from the one we saw earlier today. It has a silver frame rather than black with matching buttons and black/dark blue straps.

The back of the retail box reveals the watch’s model number as XMWT06. It has a 1.39-inch AMOLED display as we correctly guessed with a 454 x 454 resolution. The retail box also shows the watch has Bluetooth 5.0 LE and GPS + GLONASS.

Another key info revealed is the battery capacity which is 420mAh, 10mAh more than that of the Amazfit GTR 47mm version. So it should have a slightly better battery life since they both have the same screen size and resolution. The watch has a power rating of 5V 0.5A.

Other features mentioned include NFC, water-resistance up to 5ATM, activity tracking, heart-rate monitoring, and support for XiaoAI Assistant. The retail box says the watch supports devices running Android 4.4 KitKat and above.

Since the Xiaomi Watch Color doesn’t have LTE support, it should have a price tag lower than the Xiaomi Watch. The source mentions there is a 42mm version. That should have a smaller battery capacity and an even lower price tag.

Little is known about the specification and features of the Xiaomi Watch COLOR but more details are beginning to surface. The first is a live photo of the watch shared by the general manager of Xiaomi Ecological Chain, Qu Heng.

Qu Heng’s photo not only gives us a good look at the watch but he also reveals an important detail about it – the battery life. But first, let us talk about the design.

The Xiaomi Watch Color has a black case with a pretty thin bezel. Judging from the image, the screen should be no less than 1.39-inches in size. There are two buttons on the right side of the bezel just like we have seen on some other smartwatches.

The display shows a quick settings menu that includes a shortcut for torch mode which is practically the screen turning white and bright so you can use it to see. It also has a shortcut to turn on and off the lift-to-wake feature, another shortcut for adjusting the brightness and one for activating night mode. If you also zoom in on the image, you can see the Xiaomi Watch Color uses a quick-release strap.

As you can see, the watch’s battery level is 65% which actually doesn’t say anything. However, according to Qu Heng, that is the battery life of the watch after a week of use. Impressive, right? While we don’t know the usage pattern, we presume the Xiaomi Watch COLOR should be able to last more than 2 weeks on a single charge.

We still await the release of the spec sheet to know the battery capacity and if it trumps that of the Amazfit GTR which has a 410mAh battery and lasts up to 74 days in basic watch mode.

Xiaomi, the Chinese company known for making value-for-money smartphones, recently launched a smartwatch under its own brand. Now, the company has announced yet another smartwatch named Xiaomi Watch Color.

As the name itself suggests, this new smartwatch has support for colorful straps, which the company claims is suitable for all the occasions and genders. The company further adds that it comes with support for different types of color combinations.

While the company has announced this Xiaomi Watch Color, it has not yet revealed details related to its specifications, variants, and pricing. However, Xiaomi has confirmed that the smartwatch will be available for purchase in China from 3rd January.

If the rumors are to be believed, then this upcoming smart wearable product from the Chinese company is expected to be have similar set of features and specifications as the Huami Amazfit GTR.

It could come with a 1.39-inch circular display with 454 x 454 pixels screen resolution and packed with various sensors including heart rate sensor, accelerometer, barometer along with features such as 5ATM waterproof among others. We expect to know more about this wearable device in the coming days.

A few months ago, in September, we reported about Xiaomi working on a new smartwatch named Xiaomi Watch Color based on the trademark application filed by the Chinese company, along with the trademark for the MIX Alpha.

The announcement of this Xiaomi Watch Color comes just weeks after the company launched the Mi Watch Forbidden City Edition on its crowdfunding platform for a price of 1,299 yuan (~$186) against its regular price of 1,699 yuan (~$243). In terms of design, the watch is very similar to the Mobvoi Ticwatch C2.

Meanwhile, there are also reports claiming that the company is getting ready to launch a new Xiaomi Watch Pro which will come with a circular dial, unlike the standard Xiaomi Watch which has design similar to the Apple Watch.

The Mi MIX 4 may actually launch under a different name based on a ruling that prevents Xiaomi from using the MIX name. A new trademark application filed a few weeks ago reveals what the name of the phone may be and surprisingly, it still has “MIX” in it.

A document has surfaced online and it reveals that at the end of August, Xiaomi applied for a trademark application for the name Xiaomi MIX ALPHA.

The MIX Alpha may as well be the official name of the upcoming MIX flagship instead of Mi MIX 4.

Actually, this is not the first time we have heard of the name. Xiaomishka tweeted earlier this month that Xiaomi found a way to keep using the MIX name and that is by adding greek alphabets to the name.

Although the trademark application spells out “Alpha”, Xiaomi may also stylize it as Mi MIXα. But that is not all the document reveals.

It also shows that Xiaomi filed a trademark application for “Xiaomi Watch COLOR” early this month. This should be the name of an upcoming smartwatch we have not heard of before and might be a surprise product that would launch on September 24. Xiaomi is actually quite good at keeping certain products a secret and the very first Mi MIX smartphone is a perfect example.

The Xiaomi Watch COLOR should be the first Mi branded smartwatch by the company and we believe it will be made by Huami who manufactures the Mi Band for Xiaomi.
