Le Pro 3 Flagship in Hands on Images: 98% Metal Body, Brushed Metal Finish & 2.5D Glass

by Joe 17

LeEco just released the Le Pro 3 flagship and it turned out to be a powerful smartphone. The phone comes with the mighty Snapdragon 821 quad-core chipset, which is 10% faster than the already powerful SD820 along with 4GB / 6GB RAM options. Looks wise, the phone follows the traditional LeEco design philosophy, coming with a thin 7.5mm body which accounts for 98% metal. The back features a premium brushed metal finish and the phone has to go through 36 complex processes along with CNC machining to get to the final product.

Lucky for us, there are four color options available for the device, gold, rose gold, gray and silver. Apart from the powerful internals, the phone also features a powerful camera, sporting the Sony IMX298 sensor at the back with 16MP, 6P lens, f/2.0 aperture, sapphire lens, PDAF, HDR etc. The company has reportedly worked a lot on the night shooting mode on the device and the inbuilt algorithm is said to improve brightness, details and suppress noise.

The battery inside is pretty big, measuring 4070mAh and with 24W QC 3.0, it charges up to 50% in just half an hour. You can read more about the device from our launch article, or check out the pricing of the four variants from here.

The border is still there.. They should have gotten rid of it.. Well, at least the specs and price are good. haha. The LeEco icon as a home button is pretty neat tho.

  • Fábio

Great launch! They solved the last releases issues with bigger battery and other colors than only rose

Did you order the Le Max 2 Fabio? You should wait out for this tho. I would, if I were you.

      • Fábio

        Hi Will!
I didn’t bought my Le max 2 yet, I was waiting for this and also Mi Note 2.
The only thing where I really liked is the increase in battery, but I don’t expect find this device in resellers under $ 330, in the next weeks.

In other hand, we can buy the le max 2 for only $240 with resellers

By the way Will, after we talked, I watched one review in youtube with CM 13 and the device works very well, like you said. This really make me excited
I don’t know if I wait more, or just buy le max 2.
        What do you think?

        • goodwill

True, specially if you’re in europe. Idk, I’ll wait for the review from this and the launch for Mi5S, only then I’ll decide. haha. Just cause I have a thing for newer models. Le Max 2 is still a good deal tho at $240.

          • Fábio

I agree with you and will wait for the Xiaomi release.
I agree with you and will wait for the Xiaomi release.

Did you saw the news about Le Pro 3 pre sale? 3.5 million reservations!

We need make our own smartphone company ?

  • Simon Strandman

Very neat! I wish it had better support for international LTE bands though, like the le max 2.

They should update their EUI as well. It’s becoming old. I mean MIUI 7 to 8 and you get a fresh new look but EUI has been like that since before the rebranding.

The imx298 is an excellent cam sensor

    • Jh1

On paper this looks like the new king of the “budget” flagships

  • quodvadis

Revenge of the black border lol

  • Adi

In my opinion they really need to change the design. It is getting old

  • jaro69

does someone knows how to get google services on it?

  • Stiven

Lack of OIS is disappointment for me, but still great hardware for such low price.

  • Spencer

Has anyone seen the official bands this phone will support? OPPOMART is usually correct and they show
    GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz;
    WCDMA: 850/900/1900/2100MHz,
    FDD LTE: B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/20/25/26

I’m excited it has the 2/4/12 bands for T-Mobile USA. I’m excited about this phone and will be ordering one for myself. Would have loved a Blue color option.

  • A shame that bezels remain the same, I guess this keeps production costs down.
SD821 is interesting, but I am much more interested in the camera and display, love the brushed metal finish btw.

Gold version looks beautiful and only 300 for 6 gb ram, crazy deal.
