Last month, we came to know that Xiaomi was working on the Android 7 Nougat update for the Xiaomi Mi 5. Now, the company has officially revealed that the Android 7 Developer ROM for Xiaomi Mi 5 has entered open beta. This means anyone can head over to the forums and install the update. However, note that the open beta is for the developer ROM and not the stable ROM.

If you are already on the developer ROM, then you can upgrade the ROM to the version 6.12.8 for getting Android Nougat onto your device. Or else, you will have to clean install this latest version of the developer ROM (make sure to backup your data).

While you are officially updated to the Android 7 version, the MIUI 8 interface remains the same, so you will hardly notice any visual differences. Note that there are a few known issues with this ROM as well, like Wi-Fi and data disconnections, so better flash it at your own risk.

The update size is about 1.3GB, so you better be connected to a Wi-Fi network before downloading and installing this package. You can check out this link for all the details, change logs, as well as links to the package.
