Meizu has recently launched the Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus flagship phones. The Meizu 16 series is available with a very affordable starting price of 2,698 Yuan (~$394). Few weeks before the launch of the Meizu 16 duo, Meizu CEO Jack Wong had revealed many features of both smartphones. Now that the company is prepping up to launch two new mid-range phones, Wong has shared some fresh information on them.

Before the announcement of Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus, Wong had confirmed on the existence of the Meizu X8 smartphone as the company first notched display phone. It was also revealed that the smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 710. Soon after the launch of Meizu 16 and 16 Plus, he claimed that the Meizu 16X is the name of the company’s next Snapdragon 710 smartphone. Hence, the rumor mill started speculating that the Meizu 16X and X8 could be the very same phone since both phones were said to feature the same chipset. However, the new information shared by Wong reveals that the Meizu 16X and Meizu 8X are two different upcoming mid-range phones from the company.

According to Wong, the Meizu 16X will be the best Snapdragon 710 powered smartphone. It will be featuring Super AMOLED display and it will come equipped with an in-display fingerprint reader. The smartphone could be priced between 2,000 Yuan (~$292) and 2,500 Yuan (~$365). There is a possibility that the Meizu 16X may look similar to the Meizu 16 and 16 Plus smartphones.

Wong also added that the Meizu 8X is also equipped with Snapdragon 710. Since it will be arriving with a notched screen, it will be rivaling with Xiaomi Mi 8 SE smartphone that features a notched display and SD710 chipset. Wong has previously claimed that the Meizu 8X will have a larger display than the Mi 8 SE and it will be priced between 1,500 Yuan (~$219) and 2,000 Yuan (~$292) . This phone is unlikely to feature an in-screen fingerprint reader.

Earlier in this month, Wong had claimed that the Meizu 16X will be made official in September. Recently, the smartphone was spotted with 6 GB of RAM on Geekbench. There is no confirmation on the launch timeframe of the Meizu 8X.
