Chinese handset maker vivo launched the vivo Y1s and the vivo Y12s budget smartphones in India in November 2020 and January 2021 respectively. Months after their release, instead of getting a price cut, the devices have received a price hike as well as a new variant in the country.
The vivo Y1s is the cheaper of the two handsets. The phone debuted in a single 2GB + 32GB variant priced at ₹7,990. Now, seven months after its release, the company has increased the price of the device by ₹500. Additionally, it also gets a new 3GB + 32GB model.
Hence, the vivo Y1s 2GB + 32 currently retails for ₹8,490 in India. Whereas, the latest 3GB + 32GB variant costs ₹9,490.
On the other hand, the vivo Y12s also comes in a sole 3GB + 32GB version. The device phone went official earlier this year for ₹9,990.
As a result of the ₹500 price hike, the handset now sells for ₹10,490 in India. Also, unlike the former phone, the company did not introduce a new variant for this.
The new price tags of these two vivo budget smartphones are already live across online and offline retailers in India. Therefore, customers who were planning to buy any of these devices will have to spend ₹500 extra.
