Just when we thought almost all the big smartphone launches of 2022 are over, the companies keep surprising us. Two more brands have confirmed to debut certain important phones in the next few days.
These companies are Motorola and Oppo. Interestingly, they will be holding their events on the same day, i.e. December 15.
The Oppo’s conference is scheduled to begin at 4 PM GMT+8. Whereas, the Lenovo-owned Motorola hasn’t disclosed the time yet.
Both these events will be live-streamed on Weibo and popular Chinese video streaming platforms. With that out of the way, let’s take a look at these handsets.
The Moto X40 will go official as the successor of the Moto X30, which goes by Motorola Edge 30 Pro outside mainland China. The upcoming X40 is anticipated to release as Motorola Edge 40 Pro internationally.
Thanks to leaks and teasers, we know most of its specs. For starters, it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset paired with LPDDR5x RAM.
Interestingly, the device will be IP68-rated for dust and water resistance. It is said to come with a 10-bit curved display sporting FHD+ resolution and up to a 165Hz refresh rate.
Other expected features of the phone include a 60MP selfie camera, 50MP (wide) + 50MP (ultra-wide) + 12MP (2x telephoto) triple camera system, a 5,000mAh battery, and 68W charging.
2. Oppo Find N2 Series
As the name suggests, the Oppo Find N2 series will be the successor of the Oppo Find N from late last year. For the unaware, Find N is Oppo’s lineup of foldable smartphones.
Unlike the first-gen, which only had a single model, the second-gen will consist of two handsets. They are officially called Oppo Find N2 and Oppo Find N2 Flip.
The regular Find N2 will be the follow-up to the original Find N. It will be a horizontal folding foldable smartphone that turns into a tablet when unfolded. Unfortunately, it may remain exclusive to China.
On the other hand, the Find N2 Flip will be a vertical folding foldable smartphone. In other words, it will be a clamshell foldable. Oppo is said to release it in international markets. This device will compete against other globally available similar-type foldables, like Galaxy Z Flip 4, Motorola Razr 2022, and Huawei P50 Pocket.
