Xbox Series X might be getting a fresh all-white makeover

Microsoft is apparently planning a refreshing makeover for its Xbox Series X. The company might be working on a new variant of the popular gaming console, which might ditch its original black hue in favor of a fresh all-white design. So here’s everything you need to know.

Xbox Series X Going Full White?

Xbox Series X

Low quality images of the white Xbox Series X was shared by eXputer. The report states that an all-white all-digital Xbox Series X console. In terms of overall design, the white Xbox Series X appears similar to the black variant. However, it is just a different color and without a disc drive. Apart from these two changes, the internals are expected to be almost identical in terms of specs, but this variant may ship with an upgraded heatsink for better thermals. During the Microsoft vs FTC court hearing, leaked documents had also hinted at an Xbox with a new color and with the disc drive removed.

Microsoft’s all-digital white Xbox Series X will most likely be cheaper than the regular Xbox Series X model since it saves production costs by removing the disc drive. In other words, it is similar to Sony’s PlayStation 5, which arrives in Digital and Disc editions. As of right now, the Xbox Series X is available for 500 US Dollars in the US. The Xbox Series S and Xbox Series S 1TB Edition are sold for 300 and 350 US Dollars respectively, so we can expect the digital Xbox Series X to possibly be priced around the 450 US Dollar mark.

iQOO will be celebrating its fourth birthday in India. For this celebration, the company has announced that it will be launching the iQOO 12 Anniversary Edition in the region soon. This device is expected to be a flagship grade device, so here are all the details.

iQOO 12 Anniversary Edition

iQOO-12
iQOO-12

The Chinese brand is turning four in the country and iQOO India’s CEO shared a letter on social media platforms. In this letter, the senior official expressed his gratitude to the “Questers”. While the brand did confirm that the device is set to launch soon, it did not reveal any other finer details regarding the iQOO 12 Anniversary Edition. So it is still unclear whether they are different from the regular iQOO 12, which launched back in December 2023.

There is a chance that the iQOO 12 Anniversary Edition might launch in a red color option, which is a variant that was exclusive to the Chinese market. To recall, the smartphone was first launched in the brand’s home market in Legend, Alpha, and Red options. It is worth noting that this is still just speculation at the moment, so take this report with a pinch of salt.

For those unaware, the iQOO 12 debuted with top notch specs and features like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. It sports a tall 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and 3,000 nits of peak brightness. Samsung rejects Apple’s offer to supply OLED panels for iPhone SE 4, says report

iPhone SE 4 has been the subject of many leaks recently hinting at significant upgrades for Apple‘s budget-friendly smartphone option. According to leaked information and CAD images, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to adopt the design cues of the iPhone 14.

On the front, it will feature a 6.1-inch LTPS OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate. And despite the design overhaul, the device is likely to stick with a single rear camera setup.

However, the major point of contention for Apple centers around the cost of the OLED display panels for the iPhone SE 4. Samsung Display reportedly offered to supply the panels at $30 each. But Apple found this price too high and is now said to have rejected the offer.

iPhone SE 4

Consequently, Samsung has withdrawn from the negotiation process. The Cupertino-based company is reportedly seeking a more budget-friendly option of $25 per panel.

Now with Samsung no longer in the picture, Apple is reportedly turning to Chinese manufacturer BOE to fulfill its display production needs. Apple’s focus on cost-saving for its budget-oriented iPhone SE line is understandable, as displays are among the most expensive smartphone components.

Apart from this, the iPhone SE 4 will reportedly offer Face ID, an improved 48 MP rear camera, and a faster processor. Nonetheless, the shift in display suppliers could potentially impact production schedules or the final retail price of the device.

Apple is rumored to be gearing up for a substantial initial production run of approximately 15 million units when the iPhone SE 4 launches in 2025.

The Exynos 1480 boasts a hybrid CPU configuration featuring four powerful Arm Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.75 GHz for demanding tasks, alongside four Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0 GHz for better power efficiency.

The star of the show, however, is the Xclipse 530 GPU based on AMD’s RDNA architecture. It improves graphics performance by 53% compared to the previous generation says Samsung.

Samsung Exynos 1480 Launch Specs

Jumping on the AI bandwagon, the Exynos 1480 features a built-in AI Engine with a 6K MAC NPU. While seemingly a less powerful version than the flagship Exynos 2400’s AI engine, it makes the Galaxy A55 capable of supporting AI-powered features found in the Galaxy S24 series. However, it depends on whether Samsung will roll out the relevant One UI 6.1 update to the device.

Wireless connectivity is well-covered with the Exynos 1480, supporting Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, sub-6 GHz 5G, mmWave 5G, and cat.18 LTE for fast, versatile connections.

Moreover, the chip can handle displays up to FHD+ at a smooth 144 Hz refresh rate and packs the necessary power to handle a single 200MP sensor (64MP at 30 FPS, 32MP + 32MP at 30 FPS).

The chip can even encode and decode 4K 60 FPS H.264 videos with ease. Memory and storage support extends to LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage for snappy performance.

Built on a 4nm manufacturing process, likely Samsung’s own 4LPP+, the Exynos 1480 looks to offer improved power efficiency over previous-generation chips.

Nubia launched the Z60 Ultra (review) smartphone in China last December. A month later, we got the Year of the Dragon Limited Edition variant of the device. Now, the brand has announced the Z60 Ultra Photographer Edition. As the name suggests, it features a design that looks similar to an original retro camera. The newly announced variant packs some additional features but still has the same hardware underneath as the standard model. Read on to know more below.

Nubia Z60 Ultra Photographer Edition announced

Beginning with the differences between the Photography Edition and the standard variant, the former is said to have a dynamic fold-line segmented camera module that resembles the original vintage camera looks. The bottom half of the back panel features a leather-textured back panel with three-dimensional etching.

The Nubia Z60 Ultra Photographer Edition comes with Neovision AI imaging that adopts a large AI model and computational photography. This will help in shooting precise and exceptional images. There is also AI-based smart erase to remove any unwanted objects from the picture. The smartphone also features AI two-way real-time interpretation on calls and face-to-face conversations. This is similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra and it aims to make cross-language communication easy and efficient.

The rest of the specifications of the Nubia Z60 Ultra Photographer Edition remain the same as the standard model. The camera setup comprises of two 50MP sensors with 18mm and 35mm focal lengths and a third 64MP periscope lens with 85mm focal length. All three support OIS and are capable of recording 4K videos at 120 fps. Upfront, the device has a 12MP under-display camera with AI deep-sensing engine.

The Nubia Z60 Ultra Photographer Edition is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. It packs 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 4 storage. The device sports a 6.9-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It draws its power from a 6,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging. The smartphone is also IP68-certified.

Honor Play 50, Play 50m official with similar specifications but different prices

Honor has silently launched a couple of new smartphones in China — the Honor Play 50 and Honor Play 50m. While both phones boast similar specifications and core configurations, they surprisingly differ in terms of price. Let’s delve into the specifics here.

Honor Play 50, Play 50m Specifications

As we mentioned earlier, the Honor Play 50 and Play 50m share core functionalities and look quite similar. However, they are served differently in terms of color options.

Honor Play 50m launch specs price
Honor Play 50m

The Play 50 boasts a more diverse palette with Star Purple, Black Jade Green, and Magic Night Black, while the Play 50m stays more classic with Magic Night Black and Sky Blue. With the same design, unsurprisingly, they measure similarly at 163.59 x 75.33 x 8.39mm and weigh approximately 190 grams.

The phones sport a 6.56-inch waterdrop TFT LCD screen offering a 720 x 1612 pixel resolution and a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, ensuring smooth visuals for general use.

Under the hood, both the Play 50 and Play 50m run on the Dimensity 6100+ processor and come equipped with the Android 14-based MagicOS 8.0 system. This combination should provide adequate power for everyday tasks and casual gaming.

Camera-wise, the Honor Play series keeps things uncluttered. There’s a single 13-megapixel primary shooter on the back, paired with a 5-megapixel selfie camera on the front. So you shouldn’t expect groundbreaking photography performance, but these will suffice for basic snapshots and video calls.

Keeping things powered up is a generous 5200mAh battery that should provide all-day use for most people. And Honor is offering a minimal 10W charging speed for the devices.

Price and Availability

Price is where the things are different between the Honor Play 50 and Play 50m. The Play 50 starts with a 6GB+128GB configuration for 1199 yuan (~ $165), with an 8GB+256GB version available for 1399 yuan ( ~ $194).

The Honor Play 50m kicks off with a 6GB+128GB model priced at 1499 yuan (~ $207), and its 8GB+256GB counterpart costs 1899 yuan (~ $262).

Although Honor hasn’t explicitly explained the discrepancy in prices, Weibo blogger WhyLab suggests that it may be due to variations in distribution channels.

Despite the explanation, the significant gap in prices seems puzzling to us. However, it’s the only insight we’ve come across regarding this matter.
