Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has again exhibited its tech dominance with the global launch of the Electric Scooter 4 Pro Max in the EU. The sleek foldable scooter, teased earlier this year, showcases a seamless blend of cutting-edge technology and thoughtful design, promising an enhanced commuting experience for riders around the world.
Features
Drawing on the success of its predecessor, the 4 Pro Plus, the 4 Pro Max introduces several upgrades that elevate the electric scooter’s performance. One standout feature is the 960W peak power motor, providing riders with three-speed settings and a top speed of 25 kph (~16 mph). Notably, the Pro Max boasts a more potent 400W motor, surpassing the Pro Plus’s 350W rating, ensuring a dynamic and efficient ride.
A pivotal enhancement lies in the dual-cylinder suspension at the front, a game-changer for tackling uneven terrains. This addition not only enhances comfort but also sets the 4 Pro Max apart from its predecessors. The model’s slightly larger and heavier frame at 21.3 kg (~47.0 lbs) ensures stability, making it a reliable choice for daily commuting needs.
The 10.2 Ah battery, providing an impressive range of up to 60 km (~37 miles), coupled with a rapid nine-hour full recharge time, makes the 4 Pro Max a practical and eco-friendly option for city dwellers. Riders can navigate with ease, thanks to features like direction indicators, E-ABS, drum brakes, and 10-inch tires at both the front and rear.
Pricing
Currently spotted at MediaMarkt in Germany for €599.99, the 4 Pro Max’s availability has stirred anticipation, even though it’s temporarily out of stock. Xiaomi enthusiasts worldwide eagerly await news on when this groundbreaking electric scooter will hit markets in other countries, promising an exciting and sustainable commuting future for urbanites.
Honor Choice Watch is the latest smartwatch from Honor to launch in India. It was announced along with the Honor X9b and Choice Earbuds X5 TWS last month. The smartwatch offers a massive display, a long battery life, and a lot of workout features. Here is a comprehensive review of what the Choice Watch offers.
Honor Choice Watch review: What’s in the box?
Honor Choice Watch
The retail package of the Honor Choice Watch includes:
One of the major attractions of the Honor Choice Watch is its large 1.95-inch AMOLED display that offers 410 x 502 pixels, a 60Hz refresh rate, a 332 PPI pixel density, and up to 550 nits of brightness. The screen is very bright and clear for outdoor usage. One gripe is that it does not automatically adjust the brightness depending on the environment. However, it does come with support for Always-on Display functionality. In addition, it gives access to multiple watch faces. The bezels are slim, and the company claims a 75 percent screen-to-body ratio.
In terms of design, the 2.5D micro-curved glass of the Choice Watch adds to its sleek aesthetics. The smartwatch features a metallic-textured body with stainless-steel buttons. It has a thickness of 10.2mm and weighs only 45 grams.
Honor Choice Watch
The white silicone strap feels skin-friendly and can be worn for longer durations without any skin irritation, at least for me. In addition, with a 5ATM water resistance level, the Choice Watch is suitable for swimming and surfing.
The crown on the right edge of the Honor Choice Watch provides access to all the apps available on the watch. A swipe-up on the home screen shows all notifications. Note that there is no option to respond to notifications. A swipe downwards gives access to the Quick Settings menu. Swiping right shows widgets for Activity Record, Heart rate, SpO2, Stress, Sleep, and more. Swiping left of the home screen allows users to access frequently used or desired apps.
Here’s a list of all the apps available through the crown: Exercise (with workout modes), Exercise record, Activity record, Heart rate, SpO2, Sleep, Stress, One-tap measurements, Contacts (favorite contacts), Call history, Weather, Breathing exercise, Music control, Water intake, Alarm, Stopwatch, Timer, Calculator, Voice memo, Compass, Flashlight, Find Phone, and Settings.
Some additional features, such as Vibration Drainage, Silent / Ring mode, and Brightness adjustment are available via Quick Toggle. The SOS functionality is activated through the Settings. Once enabled, users can triple-tap to perform an emergency call to a pre-registered contact.
At the time of writing, my Choice Watch has already received the 8.0.9.17 firmware update. The well-designed UI, coupled with the 60Hz refresh rate, offers a snappy user experience.
The other standout feature is the Honor Health companion app, which needs to be installed on a paired phone. The Health tab on the app provides a lot of statistical data about steps, calories, activity, hours active, sleep, heart health, and more. The Exercise tab offers 120 workout modes and customizable exercise options. The Device tab allows users to link a phone to the Honor Watch or any other Honor fitness tracker/watch, view online and customizable watch faces, and access other options such as battery status, setting frequent contacts, and notifications.
Honor Choice Watch – Bluetooth voice calling
The smartwatch supports Bluetooth (5.3) calling through a paired smartphone. When there is an incoming call, the watch allows users to answer, reject or respond via quick SMS replies. The call quality is decent for indoor environments. When making calls, the watch does not provide a Dialler app. Instead, users can make calls from contacts available in the Call History or from the Favourite Contacts app on the watch. The built-in Voice Memo app works well, and the recorded audio files are quite audible.
Health Monitoring and Battery Life
Honor Choice Watch
The Choice Watch offers comprehensive health monitoring features, including SpO2 monitoring, heart rate monitoring, stress monitoring, and sleep quality monitoring. The watch continuously monitors these parameters as long as it’s worn. If an attempt is made to track heart rate, sleep, stress, or SpO2 while the watch is not worn on the wrist, a prompt will be displayed instructing the user to wear the watch.
The Choice Watch comes equipped with support for the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) with five global positioning satellite systems: BDS (China), GPS (America), GLONASS (Russia), Galileo (EU), and QZSS (Japan).
Honor Choice Watch
I used the watch to track a 6km outdoor walk, which lasted around 1 hour and 8 minutes. After completing the activity, it showed comprehensive health data, including steps, heart rate, average speed, and more. Other health data can be viewed through the Honor Health app on the paired device.
Honor Choice Watch – One-tap measurement
As mentioned above, the Choice Watch offers up to 120 workout modes. Additionally, the one-tap measurement app on the watch can measure heart rate, SpO2, and stress levels within 60 seconds.
The Honor Choice Watch has a 300mAh battery and supports magnetic charging. Once fully charged, it can last for 10 to 12 days with typical usage. With the Always-On Display (AOD) feature enabled and daily health tracking, it may last for around 5 days. To sum up, the Choice Watch does not disappoint in terms of battery life.
The Honor Choice Watch is priced at Rs 6,499 (~$78) in India. However, it is now available with an introductory price of Rs 5,999 (~$72). It comes in black and white options.
Verdict
The Honor Choice Watch presents itself as a compelling smartwatch option with its vibrant display, stylish design, comprehensive health tracking, and extensive workout modes. It will certainly appeal to workout enthusiasts. In addition, its long battery life and water resistance make it a practical choice for active lifestyles. While it lacks features like automatic brightness adjustment and a dialler, its overall package offers good value for those seeking a well-rounded fitness companion with voice-calling capabilities.

HARMAN, the manufacturer of the super-popular JBL audio brand, has launched a campaign targeting counterfeiters of JBL products in India. The Samsung Electronics subsidiary said it had initiated legal actions against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and retailers involved in selling or making fake JBL products.
HARMAN recently conducted a raid in collaboration with law enforcement and its investigation team confiscated 54 counterfeit JBL car speakers from car accessories shops across five locations in Kashmiri Gate, New Delhi.
The company says that it is committed to delivering premium and high-quality products in India. HARMAN reaffirmed its determination to address any threats to its products caused by unlawful sales with firm and immediate action.
The popularity of JBL products makes the brand a hotbed for counterfeiters
Harman has also highlighted some tips on identifying fake JBL products in the subcontinent. It advises customers to be wary of overtly cheap JBL products with compromised quality. It also points out inconsistent cosmetic details as an indicator of a fake product, compared to a genuine JBL gadget. The packaging and genuine JBL logo are also another way of identifying counterfeit products. Genuine JBL products have high-quality packaging with accurate logo placement and color, according to the company.
Furthermore, counterfeit JBL products may feel lightweight, have a chemical odor, or show signs of poor quality, overall. The reputation of the seller can also guide consumers in avoiding counterfeit JBL products.
Vikram Kher, Vice President of Lifestyle at HARMAN India, stated that the company is pursuing rigorous legal actions against individuals engaged in the sale of these counterfeit products. He also said that it is crucial for JBL customers to remain vigilant and purchase products only from authorized retailers.
The investigation is ongoing and will be a regular activity to curb the sale of such products across India. There are no indications yet on the arrests made but the problem of counterfeiting may be widespread in India.

Xiaomi‘s Poco sub-brand is gearing up to launch a new smartphone in India, the Poco X6 Neo. The device will be a part of the Poco X6 lineup that includes the Poco X6 and X6 Pro, launched in January earlier this year. Last month, the Indian launch of the X6 Neo was tipped as well. Expected to hit the shelves by next week, the device is aimed at attracting younger consumers with a competitive price tag under INR 16,000 (approximately $195). Leaks surrounding the phone’s design have emerged courtesy of the Indian publication Gadgets360.
The design is very similar to the Redmi Note 13R Pro, raising further speculations
Based on the leaked images, the Poco X6 Neo appears to sport a dual rear camera system. Interestingly, the design bears a striking resemblance to the Redmi Note 13R Pro, leading to speculation that the Poco offering might be a rebranded version of the Redmi phone for the Indian market. This is further fueled by the source’s claims that the Poco X6 Neo will share similar core specifications with the Redmi Note 13R Pro, including a powerful 108MP primary camera and a long-lasting 5,000mAh battery.
Delving deeper into the rumoured specifications, the Poco X6 Neo is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC, a capable chipset that should offer smooth performance for everyday tasks and even some light gaming. The phone is also tipped to come with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, providing ample space for multitasking and storing apps, games, and media files. The display is said to be a generous 6.67-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, promising a visually immersive experience with fluid visuals and fast touch response.
On the camera front, the leaked information suggests a dual rear camera system with a 108MP primary sensor, likely paired with a 2MP depth sensor for capturing portrait shots with artistic background blur. For selfies and video calls, a 16MP front-facing camera is rumored to be onboard. Rounding out the feature set, the Poco X6 Neo is expected to sport a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for secure unlocking and pack a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging, allowing users to quickly power up their device when needed.
It’s important to remember that these specifications are based on leaks and rumors, and the official details of the Poco X6 Neo may differ upon its official launch. The device is expected to officially launch next week, so keep an eye out for future coverage.
The European Commission has fined Apple a hefty €1.8 billion (around $1.95 billion) for anti-competitive practices related to music streaming apps on iPhones and iPads. The issue stemmed from Apple’s dominant position in the app market, which they allegedly abused by restricting how music streaming app developers operate on their devices. Last month, there were talks of a $500 million fine, but this is a huge step-up from that.
The EU deemed Apple’s practices illegal since they limited user choices
These restrictions, called “anti-steering provisions,” prevented developers from informing users about cheaper subscription options available outside the App Store, including prohibiting them from including links to their own websites or mentioning price differences between in-app subscriptions and those offered elsewhere. The EU deemed these practices illegal as they limited user choice, potentially led to inflated prices, and hindered competition by giving Apple an unfair advantage.
The fine amount considers the ten-year duration of the violation, Apple’s significant market size, and the need to deter future similar offenses. Additionally, the EU has ordered Apple to remove these anti-steering provisions and refrain from repeating such practices in the future.
This decision could potentially lead to a more competitive music streaming landscape on Apple devices, with users benefiting from more transparent pricing and a wider range of subscription options. Furthermore, it promotes a fairer and more open app market for developers. It’s important to remember that Apple has the right to appeal the decision, but this ruling serves as a strong message for fair competition and consumer rights in the digital age.

Apple has officially unveiled the new MacBook Air with the company’s latest silicon. It retains the same design but is now more powerful than the previous-generation model. Additionally, the latest models also come with some minor improvements here and there.
MacBook Air M3 is here
Apple is continuing to offer the MacBook Air M3 in 13 and 15-inch screen sizes. This time the Cupertino-based tech giant has announced the latest generation in two variants simultaneously unlike the M2 Air. The newly announced offerings retain the same design with a flat-edged chassis and a display notch.
The MacBook Air M3 13 and 15-inch variants can now connect to two external displays instead of a single on the previous models. However, there’s a slight caveat here as this can only work when the laptop’s lid is closed. If the Air’s screen is on, it can connect to only one external display. Both models still have Liquid Retina screens and 500 nits peak brightness.
Under the hood, the new MacBook Air is equipped with the company’s M3 processor which consists of an 8-core CPU and up to 10-core GPU. There is also a faster 16-core Neural Engine. Apple is touting the new MacBook Air as “the world’s best consumer laptop for AI”. The latest offering is claimed to deliver 60 percent more performance compared to the M1 model which is nearly four years old now. It is also said to be 13x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBooks. The Air M3 also delivers a realistic gaming experience with hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing. There is also support for AV1 decoding.
Apart from the chipset upgrade, the new MacBook Air also comes with WiFi-6E which is said to offer twice as faster speeds compared to the previous generation.
