Sony has quietly unveiled a promising new camera sensor, the Lytia LYT-900. While an official press release is still pending, details shared on the official Sony Lytia Weibo handle offer a glimpse into its specifications.

The LYT-900 stands as the top-of-the-line model in Sony’s LYT series camera sensors. It boasts a 50-megapixel one-inch sensor with individual pixels measuring 1.6μm. This translates to a sensor size of 16.384mm (diagonally).

The LYT-900 also utilizes stacked CMOS technology, which means it has two separate layers – one for the transistor and another for the photodiode. This allows for physically larger diodes, which in turn capture more light, leading to exceptional image quality, particularly in low-light conditions.

Rumors suggest the LYT-900 is a refined version of the existing Sony IMX989 sensor already found in top-tier devices like the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Vivo X90 Pro.

The first phone to feature the LYT-900 remains unconfirmed, but speculation points toward the upcoming Oppo Find X7 Pro. Expected to launch alongside the Find X7 in January 2024, the Find X7 Pro is rumored to boast an impressive quad-camera setup, including the LYT-900 main sensor. It will be joined by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and two telephoto lenses with 3x and 6x optical zoom.

Other potential recipients of the LYT-900 include the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Vivo X100 Pro+. While the Xiaomi flagship is rumored for an April launch alongside the Xiaomi Pad 7 and Xiaomi Mix Flip, the Vivo X100 Pro+ has seen some delays. Initially expected in March or April 2024, its arrival is now rumored for later in the first half of the year.

Following the LYT-900 is the LYT-800 sensor, which has been featured in several flagship smartphones released lately, including the OnePlus 12 and Realme GT 5 Pro.

Last month, POCO debuted the C65 budget-range smartphone in the global market. The Indian division of the brand has now announced the launch date for the sub-continent.

As per a recent post shared via POCO India’s X (Twitter) account, the POCO C65 will be launching in India on December 15. The teaser image shared confirms that the design is the same as the global model. We can also expect the specs to be identical as well.

The POCO C65 boasts a 6.74-inch display with a waterdrop notch, providing a resolution of 1,600 x 720 pixels. Featuring a 90Hz refresh rate and 600 nits peak brightness, the device is equipped with Gorilla Glass for protection against accidental damage and scratches. Additionally, it incorporates a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button.

In the camera department, the POCO C65 sports dual rear cameras, consisting of a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP macro lens. For selfies, there’s an 8MP front-facing snapper, accompanied by various camera modes to enhance images.

Powering the POCO C65 is a MediaTek Helio G85 processor, coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The smartphone also features virtual RAM technology and a storage expansion SD card slot that allows for up to 1TB expansion. Its 5,000mAh battery supports 18W fast charging. The device runs on MIUI 14 out of the box.

Connectivity options on the POCO C65 include a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi, NFC, and Bluetooth. It comes in Black, Blue, and Purple colors, with configurations offering 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB of RAM and storage, respectively. It is currently unclear if the phone will launch with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration in India. That said, Poco has recently debuted the M6 Pro 5G in India with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage in India, with a starting price of Rs 14,999 ($180).

The handset will retain the alert slider and 100W wired charging support from its predecessor OnePlus Ace 2 (OnePlus 11R). Finally, it will draw energy from a 5,500mAh battery.

The OnePlus Ace 3 is rumored to launch by the end of December in China. Whereas, the global variant of this phone, the OnePlus 12R, is expected to debut on January 23.

iQOO Neo 9 series: what we know so far

Images of the Neo 9 series from iQOO have been released, showcasing a dual-tone design with white and red colors. The most interesting aspect is the processors, with the vanilla model picking last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, while leaks suggest the Pro model will come with the recently launched Dimensity 9300 processor.

As we know, the Dimensity 9300 has closed the performance gap at the top end, as it is currently going toe-to-toe with the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip on AnTuTu benchmark rankings.

According to a recent leak, the Neo 9 Pro is expected to come with a 6.78-inch flat OLED panel, offering a 1.5K resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels. Realme has quietly launched two new budget smartphones in China. Both of them are 5G-enabled and are part of the same series.

These devices go by Realme V50 and Realme V50s. Despite bearing different names, they come with the same set of specs. The cheaper V50 is a carrier variant, while the costlier V50s is an unlocked version.

It is worth noting that these phones resemble the Realme 11x but feature a different camera and charge at a slower rate. Let’s check out everything they have to offer.

Realme V50, V50s Specifications

The Realme V50 series features a flat-frame design and a circular camera module. They measure 7.89mm in thickness and weigh 190g.

The handsets are built around a 6.72-inch centered punch-hole display. This LCD panel offers a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+), 120Hz refresh rate, and 680 nits peak brightness level.

Further, they are powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus chipset. On the software front, they boot Android 13-based Realme UI 4.0.

They house a dual camera setup on the back. The primary 13MP sensor is paired with an unspecified secondary sensor, which is most likely a depth sensor. Whereas, on the front, there’s an 8MP snapper for selfies and video calls.

The devices arrive with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a MicroSD card slot, and a 5,000mAh battery. Their charging speed is not mentioned. Hence, they likely support standard 10W or 18W charging.

As mentioned in the beginning, the Realme V50 and Realme V50s are almost the same as Realme 11x, which comes with a 64MP main camera and 33W charging support.

Notepad, the ubiquitous text editor on Windows devices, has finally received a much-needed update: a character count feature. This feature, while seemingly basic, has been absent from the app since its inception.

The new feature arrives in the latest Canary channel test build of Windows 11. It adds a character count display to the bottom left corner of the Notepad window. This mimics the behavior of other text editors like Microsoft Word, offering a convenient way to track the length of your text.

By default, it displays the total number of characters in the entire document. But if you select a specific line, the application will show the character count for that section. I’m sure the character count feature on Windows Notepad will come in handy for all who work with any text-based content.

The character count feature is one of several improvements Microsoft has made to Notepad this year. Recently, they added an autosave option that automatically saves your work at regular intervals, eliminating the worry of losing progress.

Additionally, they’ve added tabs for managing multiple documents and a dark mode for comfortable nighttime use. And if you need to fidget, there’s even a virtual fidget spinner now. These changes make Notepad a more user-friendly experience overall.

Apart from this, Windows 11 itself has received some updates in the latest Canary channel build. Users can now choose to display only widgets on the dedicated Widget page, hiding the feed of news and articles if they so desire. Google launches migration tool ahead of Podcasts shutdown

To assist users with the transition, Google has launched a new migration tool. This tool allows users to easily transfer their existing podcast subscriptions from Google Podcasts to YouTube Music. Currently, the migration tool is only available for users in the United States but is expected to be rolled out globally soon.

Google says the new migration tool will appear within the Google Podcasts app in the coming weeks which can be accessed through a banner at the top of the screen. Additionally, step-by-step instructions on the migration process will be available on Google’s support website.

While the Google Podcasts app itself will cease to function in April, US users can still listen to their podcasts within the app until March 2024. Additionally, both migration and subscription export will be available until July 2024, allowing ample time for everyone to make the transition.

However, if you’re wary of Google’s history of shuttering podcast apps (a nod to the discontinued Google Listen and Google Play Music Podcasts), you have another option. You can export your subscriptions as an OPML file at podcasts.google.com/settings until August 2024. This allows you to import them into a different podcast app of your choice.

These are all the important dates to remember for Google Podcasts shutdown:

March 2024: Last month to listen to podcasts within the Google Podcasts app.
April 2024: Google Podcasts app officially shuts down.

Redmi has recently launched the Redmi 13R smartphone in the Chinese market with a price tag of 999 Yuan (~$139). Surprisingly, the Redmi 12R has been silently listed for purchase in China. Here is all the information about the said device.

According to IT Home, images of the real Redmi 12R for the first time in August. However, it received little attention at the time. Initially, the device was accessible through offline channels and third-party retailers. Now, it has made its debut in the online sphere, becoming available for purchase on Xiaomi Mall.

The Redmi 12R moniker suggests that it is a predecessor to the recently unveiled Redmi 13R. Surprisingly, the device has been made available for purchase online after the 13R, with the same price tag of 999 Yuan (~$139).

Xiaomi, Apple, and Huawei among preferred brands in China’s premium phone market

According to BCI’s latest market survey for China, Xiaomi has reclaimed the top spot among domestic smartphone brands, particularly in the high-end segment priced above 4,000 Yuan+ (~$550) . Alongside Apple and Huawei, Xiaomi now stands as one of the top three high-end brands, contributing to nearly 90 percent of the market share in this premium category.

Apple maintains its lead in the high-end market despite encountering a 21.2 percent year-on-year decline. Xiaomi, with an 18.3 percent market share, secures the top position among the Chinese brands, experiencing a significant 44.1% year-on-year increase in activations, showcasing the highest growth rate. Honor claims the third spot in activation volume, registering a 12.6 percent year-on-year increase.

Huawei ranks fourth in market share but exhibits an impressive 75.6 percent year-on-year growth in activations, leading the market in terms of growth rate. Brands like Vivo and Oppo face substantial declines in activation volume. The competition intensifies in the high-end market, which is dominated by three brands, namely Apple, Huawei, and Xiaomi, capturing nearly 90 percent of the share. Other brands collectively hold a modest 10 percent. market share.

BCI data underscores the resurgence of Xiaomi as the leading domestic brand, attributing its success to a consistent year-on-year growth of over 40 percent in new phone activations for five consecutive weeks. It has encountered the highest growth rate, increasing by 11.8 percent year-on-year. This dynamic landscape suggests that the Huawei Mate 60 series and Xiaomi 14 series have notably impacted Apple’s standing in the high-end market.

It sits proudly on 20-inch wheels and features an air suspension system that cleverly lowers the rear axle when accessing the trunk.

The interior of the Dreamer is equally impressive. It boasts a three-screen digital dashboard, offering a unique viewing experience through separate displays for instruments, infotainment, and passenger entertainment. The cabin’s design is minimalist, with a focus on high-quality, soft-touch materials on the door panels and dashboard, contributing to an overall sense of luxury.

However, the true essence of a minivan lies in its passenger experience, especially in the second and third rows. The Dreamer excels here, with the middle seats offering extensive adjustability, heating, cooling, and massage functions. On Dec. 5, OnePlus announced the OnePlus 12 equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in China. As confirmed by the brand during the launch, the phone is now available for purchase for the first time, starting today in the home market. Here is a look at the price and specifications of the device.

OnePlus 12 price

The OnePlus 12 comes in four options in China, such as 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage, 16 GB RAM + 512 GB storage, 16 GB RAM + 1 TB storage, and 24 GB RAM + 1 TB storage. These variants are priced at 4,299 Yuan (~$598), 4,799 Yuan (~$668), 5,299 Yuan (~$738), and 5,799 Yuan (~$807), respectively. It comes in three shades, such as black, green, and silver.

OnePlus 12 specifications

The OnePlus 12 has a 6.82-inch BOE X1 OLED screen that produces a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device ships with ColorOS 14-based Android 14. For security, it has an in-screen fingerprint sensor.

On the front, the OnePlus 12 has a 32-megapixel selfie camera. On the back, the device is equipped with a 50-megapixel LYT-808 main camera with OIS support, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

Huawei is expected to unveil the Nova 12 series of smartphones in the Chinese market this month (November). The lineup is expected to include multiple models, such as the Nova 12, Nova 12 Pro, and Nova 12 Ultra. In addition, there could be an entry-level model, which may succeed the Nova 11 SE, which debuted in October. A leaker from China has tipped some initial details about the said device.

Huawei Nova 12 Vitality Edition

According to the leaker, the Nova 12 series’ entry-level phone will not have the “SE” branding, meaning it won’t be called the Nova 12 SE. It is probably because the Nova 11 SE was announced just a few months ago. The new leak suggests that it could be called the Nova 12 Vitality Edition or Nova 12 Lite.

The tipster revealed that the alleged Nova 12 Lite will have a 60-megapixel camera on the front, and its rear panel will have a 50-megapixel primary camera. For security, it will be equipped with an in-screen fingerprint scanner. It appears that the entire Nova 12 series will come in three shades, such as White, Black, and No. 12, which seems to be a signature color.

Based on the previous release patterns, it seems that the Vitality Edition could be priced at around 1,000 Yuan (~$139). There is a possibility that the standard Nova 12 may come equipped with the upcoming Kirin 830 chip. It could be priced at around 2,000 Yuan (~$278). The Nova 12 Pro and 12 Ultra are likely to cost between 3,000 Yuan (~$417) and 4,000 Yuan (~$557). These devices may come equipped with the Kirin 9000s or the newly unveiled Kriin 9006 chip.

Nubia recently confirmed that it will unveil the Nubia Z60 Ultra on Dec. 19 in China. The device is designed to rival the likes of the Realme GT 5 Pro, the OnePlus 12, the iQOO 12 Pro, and the Xiaomi 14 Pro, which have recently launched in the Chinese market. Nubia recently confirmed that the Z60 Ultra will offer a better photography experience than its competitors. Today, the brand rolled out new posters to confirm the camera capabilities of the device.

The first poster image showcases a powerful camera setup, featuring a 50-megapixel main lens with an 18mm focal length and a wide aperture for exceptional clarity. Additionally, the device boasts a 50-megapixel high-definition optics lens with a 35mm focal length, surpassing the capabilities of a one-inch camera sensor. Notably, the phone incorporates a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with an 85mm focal length. All three cameras will have support for optical image stabilization (OIS).

The second teaser highlights the device’s immersive full-screen display, integrating an under-display camera for a seamless visual experience. The device will be equipped with the BOE Q9+ display panel, which will be integrated with the company’s fifth-generation Under Display Camera (UDC) technology. It will be complemented by a dedicated display chip and ultra-large 2.8µm pixels. While the company has not revealed the megapixel count of the front camera, it appears that the Z60 Ultra has a 16-megapixel under-display camera like the Red Magic 9 Pro series.

The Nubia Z60 Ultra is confirmed to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. In addition, the device is expected to ship with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage, and a 6,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging. On the front, it is said to be equipped with a 6.8-inch OLED panel that offers a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

DJI has released two outdoor power supply products under the DJI Power series in China. The series is comprised of the DJI Power 1000 and DJI Power 500. The DJI Power 1000 contains 1kWh of electricity and supports 2,200W maximum power output while the DJI Power 500 contains 0.5kWh and a maximum output of 1,000W.

The DJI Power 1000 supports dual 40W USB-C output while the Power 500 supports dual 100W USB-C outputs. The new DJI outdoor power supply can be used with other DJI accessories to carry out DJIPower SDC super-fast charging on DJI drone batteries. The recharge process could be as fast as 30 minutes, allowing the drone to be airborne quickly. The models can also be used to recharge mobile phones and other devices quickly and outdoors. The DJI Power 1000 can charge mobile phones up to 57 times on a single charge. It can also fully recharge a drone 12 times or a laptop 9 times. The device is also capable of powering electric saws, electric picks, and cutting machines for about 30 minutes or more.

The DJI Power series of outdoor power supply can be recharged via AC or using solar panels. They can be charged up to 80% of power in under 50 minutes, achieving a full charge in 70 minutes. The gadget can be fully recharged via solar charging in 1.35 hours. Inside a car, the DJI Power outdoor power supply can be recharged by the DJIPower car charger using the SDC charging cable.

The DJI Power series has lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries and has a recharge cycle of 3,000 cycles and a durability of 10 years. The models have up to 11 temperature sensors that can monitor the heat dissipation levels on the machine and enhance optimized operation.

Pricing

The DJI Power 500 outdoor power supply is priced in China at 2,099 yuan ($294) while the DJI Power 1000 retails at 3,499 yuan ($490). The two models can be purchased from e-commerce platforms in China like JD.com. There are no indications at this time on the global availability and pricing of the new DJI Power series outdoor power supply.

Lenovo has announced the recall of one of its manufactured products due to fire hazard concerns. The Lenovo USB-C Laptop Power Bank is the concerned product and its recall has been initiated. The company says the affected units of the Power Bank were manufactured between December 2021 and June 2022. The part number of the power bank is 40ALLG2WWW.

The affected Lenovo power bank was sold in multiple markets including the US when it was released. The issue with the power bank is that the internal screws of the device may become loose, which can lead to possible short circuit and overheating of the lithium-ion battery. Lithium-ion batteries are integral parts of many electronic devices but they also come with fire risks. The battery can react violently with air, generating much heat that can cause fires.

The scale of the recall of the Lenovo USB-C Laptop Power Bank has not been specified by Lenovo. Users who have such a power bank are requested to have a look at their devices and stop their use immediately. Lenovo requests owners of the specified power bank to enter the serial number of the device, and if established, request for a replacement. They will have to send a clear and legible photo of the label, as well as provide shipping and their contact information.

Furthermore, the old power bank must be disposed of by the extant regulations in the locality.
