Apple to use Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 modem in iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max

The iPhone 16 series is still a year away, but rumors about the upcoming devices have already started circulating. According to a new report by analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong International Securities, Apple will use Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon X75 modem in the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models.

iPhone 16 Pro Snapdragon X75 modem

Announced in February 2023, the Snapdragon X75 modem offers faster and more efficient 5G connectivity than the Snapdragon X70 modem that is used in the current iPhone 15 lineup. It also features a smaller footprint and has about 20% lower power consumption.

However, Pu also suggests that Apple will only use the Snapdragon X75 modem in the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models. The standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models are expected to retain the Snapdragon X70 modem.

This would be a change in strategy for Apple, as the company has typically used the same Qualcomm modem across all models for each generation of iPhones.

It is unclear why Apple would choose to use different modems in the iPhone 16 lineup. However, it is possible that the company is trying to further differentiate the Pro and Pro Max models from the baseline iPhones.

Additionally, Pu suggested that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models will have larger displays, measuring 0.2 inches more than the current 6.1- and 6.7-inch sizes.

It is still too early to say for sure whether these rumors are accurate, but they provide some interesting insights into what Apple may have planned for the iPhone 16 series.

It was recently reported that the Redmi 13C and its rebranded version, the POCO C65, are in the works. A new report reveals the existence of the Redmi 13C 5G, along with its model numbers and key specifications.

Redmi 13C 5G, Redmi 13C, POCO C65 model numbers

Redmi 13C
Redmi 13C

According to Xiaomiui, the Redmi 13C 5G has different model numbers for different regions:

  • 23124RN87C (China)
  • 23124RN87G (global)
  • 23124RN87I (India)

The publication had previously incorrectly associated these model numbers with the Redmi 13C 4G.

The Redmi 13C 4G has the following model numbers 23100RN82L, 23108RN04Y, and 23106RN0DA. It is expected to be released in global and Indian markets, but not in China.

The POCO C65 has the following model numbers:

  • 2310FPCA4G (global)
  • 2310FPCA4I (India)

Redmi 13C 5G, Redmi 13C 4G chipset

The Redmi 13C 5G is powered by the Dimensity 6100 Plus chipset, while the Redmi 13C and its rebranded POCO C65 feature the Helio G85. The other specifications of the 5G variant are unknown.

Shown above are the leaked renders of the Redmi 13C, which appeared earlier this month. They reveal a teardrop notch display, a USB-C port, and a 50-megapixel primary camera. The 13C series is expected to run on MIUI 14-based Android 13.

Redmi 13C series codenames

The Redmi 13C is said to have the codename “Gale,” while its 5G version is said to have the codename “Air.” It appears that there will not be a POCO version of the Redmi 13C 5G.

According to tipster Kacper Skrzypek, both Redmi devices will carry dual codenames, with “Gale” having a “Gust” variant and “Air” featuring an “Atmos” variant. The distinction might be due to region-specific variations, possibly related to India or the presence of NFC functionality. It is speculated that the Redmi 13C series and POCO 65 may be released in October in different markets.

Redmi Monitor A24 with 100Hz refresh rate, 99% sRGB launched in China

Redmi, a sub-brand of Xiaomi, has been expanding its monitor portfolio since it announced its first monitor, Redmi Display 1A. The company’s lineup mostly includes budget options, but it also launched a curved monitor last year. Now, Redmi has announced a new entry to its family, the Redmi Monitor A24.

Unsurprisingly, the Redmi Monitor A24 is a budget monitor that should be perfect for both home and office work, as well as for casual gaming sessions. Let’s take a look at its details.

Redmi Monitor A24 Specifications

The monitor comes with a 23.8-inch 1080p IPS screen with a 100Hz refresh rate, 6ms response time, and a color accuracy of ΔE<2. It’s an 8-bit display that covers 99% of the sRGB color gamut and has a contrast ratio of 1000:1. It can also get as bright as 250 nits.

Redmi Monitor A24 Features Price

Design-wise, the monitor has minimal bezels on the three sides of the display, with a slightly thicker chin. It’s also relatively thin, measuring just 7.5mm. The stand can be tilted, but it cannot be swiveled left or right. There’s also a VESA mount support in case you want to wall-mount the monitor. In terms of connectivity, you only get one DP 1.4 and HDMI interface.

The Redmi Monitor A24 is currently only available for purchase in China for 499 yuan. This converts to around $70 USD, making it a very affordable monitor for its specifications. However, the global availability is yet to be announced.

Xiaomi 14 rumored to come with new MiOS operating system

The Xiaomi 14 series is one of the most anticipated smartphone releases of the year. And now we have some new information about the baseline Xiaomi 14 model.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS), the Xiaomi 14 is currently in mass production in a new Pink shade, which is said to be very good-looking. It will also feature a 1mm bezel on the screen, just like the Pro variant.

Xiaomi 14 MiOS

More importantly, DCS notes that Xiaomi’s “new system focuses on smoothness,” which is likely a reference to the rumored MiOS. If you’re unaware, MiOS is tipped to be Xiaomi’s new operating system that will replace MIUI.

Earlier this week, DCS tipped that MIUI 14 will be the last generation of MIUI and will be replaced by MiOS. But later Xiaomiui claimed that the switch from MiOS to MIUI would likely only happen in China, and MiOS would not be available globally. Other tipsters, such as Ice Universe, have also hinted at the arrival of MiOS. So it’s possible that we might see the new OS, at least in China.

And if you’re wondering, MiOS will not just be a simple name change. Xiaomi is likely planning to make MiOS a universal operating system that can be used on all devices, from smartphones and tablets to cars and smart homes. This would be similar to Huawei’s HarmonyOS.

The Xiaomi 14 is also expected to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform. This chip is based on TSMC’s N4P process and features an upgraded prime core, the Cortex X4 clocked at 3.19GHz. Benchmark scores of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 promise a significant performance jump from its predecessor.

Of course, we’re not yet sure how good the Xiaomi 14 series will be. But based on the information that we have so far, it is definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Xiaomi 14 Pro design revealed from all angles via CAD renders

Recent reports have claimed that Xiaomi may announce the Xiaomi 14 series of flagship phones by the end of this month. A couple of recent reports including our exclusive one showcased the design of the Xiaomi 14 series via its leaked cases. Now, ahead of the expected launch, 91mobiles has teamed up with popular tipster OnLeaks to give a better look at its design from all angles.

Xiaomi 14 Pro CAD renders

The Xiaomi 14 Pro maintains a design that builds upon the Xiaomi 13 Pro but introduces noticeable alterations. Notable changes include a flat display, departing from the curved-edge design of its predecessor, and an upgrade from a triple-camera setup to a quad-camera arrangement.

The report states that the Xiaomi 14 Pro measures 161.6 x 75.3 x 8.7mm. To put into context, the 13 Pro has 162.9 x 74.6 x 8.4mm dimensions. This shows that the Xiaomi 14 Pro is slightly smaller and thicker than the Xiaomi 13 Pro. While the new model is marginally reduced in length and width, it is somewhat thicker in terms of dimensions.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro features a 6.73-inch curved-edge AMOLED panel, while its successor, the Xiaomi 14 Pro, will come with a slightly smaller 6.6-inch screen that is flat in design. Along the device’s edges, you can find a dual speaker system, a volume rocker, a power key, a USB-C port, a microphone, and a SIM slot. However, the images do not show another microphone and an IR blaster, which are typically expected to be located on the top edge of the device. There are reports that claim the device will have titanium alloy frame, but the new report does not state anything about it.

TikTok Shop Ban in Indonesia Sends Ripples Through a Fresh E-commerce Landscape

Indonesia, a crucial market for TikTok‘s e-commerce, recently put the brakes on the platform’s online retail activities. This ban not only casts doubt on TikTok’s worldwide revenue goals but also sends a warning signal to social commerce platforms across Southeast Asia.

TikTok’s Chinese counterpart racked in $205 billion last year

TikTok had high hopes pinned on Southeast Asia’s flourishing e-commerce market, particularly Indonesia. The country accounted for almost 60% of TikTok’s e-commerce revenue in the region, according to Cube Asia. William Yuen Yee, a research assistant at the Columbia-Harvard China and the World programme, believes TikTok’s “ambitious global revenue goals” now hang in the balance.

In the wake of Indonesia’s move, traditional merchants and offline marketplaces in other Southeast Asian countries are likely to appeal to their respective governments for a similar ban. Jakarta’s decision could also serve as a boon for e-commerce platforms less dependent on social media clout. Li Chengdong, founder of Beijing-based consultancy Dolphin, noted that TikTok’s e-commerce efforts haven’t been stellar in Western markets. The ban in Indonesia, he says, is a “major blow.”

The ban also raises questions about the sustainability of the live-streaming e-commerce model, a trend that originated in China. Douyin, TikTok’s Chinese counterpart, has successfully turned live-streaming into a massive revenue generator, racking up nearly $205 billion last year, according to Beijing-based Cinda Securities.

The Indonesian prohibition also brings into focus the vulnerabilities of relying too heavily on one market. TikTok Shop generated over $2.5 billion in Indonesia last year, making up a significant portion of its $4.4 billion total e-commerce revenue in Southeast Asia, as per Bloomberg.

ECOVACS DEEBOT X2 OMNI Review

If you keep following our channel, you must know that we visited the ECOVACS Global Event a month ago, where I saw a few tech-savvy products. Since then I’ve been wondering when I can buy and use them. Today finally, I got my hands on the ECOVACS DEEBOT X2 OMNI flagship robot vacuums. And due to the showcase at the launch event, I was even willing to call the X2 OMNI the best robot vacuum ever. But today let’s take an actual look at the latest Deebot and check out whether it fulfills its promise.

WHERE TO BUY
ECOVACS DEEBOT X2 OMNI @Amazon

Appearance

In terms of appearance, ECOVACS maintains the same high level of built quality as before, with a brand-new square design. Dark black is the main color of both the robot and station, while there’s also a white variant for options. With silver-white glossy trim and blue-light bars, it is truly like a machine from the Sci-fi world. The overall square design of the DEEBOT X2 OMNI is different from the majority of its kind. Although we have seen square design before, it just has a unique sense of aesthetics with decent details. So when I put it in our living room, the X2 OMNI will always be the most eye-catching one, though it’s in dark black.

DESGIN

The square robot design is definitely not just about looks. After a closer look, I realized that it’s not a perfect square, but actually a somewhat irregular rectangle. At the launch event, we’ve been told some benefits it has. But today, truly from practical thinking, I kind of agree that it does make some positive changes, especially when compared to its predecessor.

Due to limited space available inside round robots, the wheel and Roller Brush had to be placed in a median line to make the most of the inner space, whereas the square design allows for a larger Roller Brush and wheel, and better components as well, which leads to a stronger vacuum, larger vacuuming area and better ability to cross thresholds. However, it actually requires less floor space. It’s the same thing as the square milk box in your refrigerator: order brings full utilization. It also explains why the X2 OMNI doesn’t use the same bilateral side brushes as the T20 OMNI.

And thanks to the square design, the X2 OMNI has a superior performance over all round robots on the market when it comes to edge cleaning.

Another great difference in appearance is that the DEEBOT X2 OMNI doesn’t have protruding sensors or vision modules on the top, which effectively lowers the height of the robot, letting it walk freely under low sofas or beds. The 9mm height is more awesome than any robot we’ve ever tested before.

All in all, the change in design from round to square seems to improve the robot in all aspects. So I’m more than ever looking forward to seeing how the DEEBOT X2 OMNI performs in cleaning tests.

Navigation

For navigation, the DEEBOT X2 OMNI uses dual Semi-solid-state Lidars to increase the detecting range, which is widely used on automotive radars, but on very few robot vacuums.

And the Lidars are working with the upgraded AIVI 3D 2.0 obstacle avoidance system. When I used it for the first time, I was really surprised how fast the mapping is, and I could clearly feel the robot’s movements were more flexible and responsive. In our obstacle test, with few blindly bumping and trying, it’s always fast responded and calculated the optimal path in advance and got it done smoothly. I would say that most home environment is just too easy for the X2 OMNI. Even if you suddenly set up any obstacles in its way, it would also change the route in a very short moment. This performance is so far ahead of other robot vacuums. There is no doubt that there will be plenty of products on the market that will try to emulate the DEEBOT X2 OMNI.

Clean performance

The DEEBOT X2 OMNI’s Suction Power has been increased to 8,000. Well, impressive.  I left a few common wasted items, including biscuit crumbs, grains, and pet hairs that are hard to vacuum.

Firstly, the biscuit crumbs test, it’s too easy for the DEEBOT X2 OMNI. In the grains test, the DEEBOT X2 OMNI still delivered perfect results in just one pass. In the hair test, I placed cat hair on the carpet and got it as intertwined with the carpet pile as possible to simulate the real carpet contamination. The 8000pa suction was still amazing. The new DEEBOT removed the hairs so well that visually no tiny hair remained. Even when I looked closely at the carpet. It seems that the 8000pa suction power and the enlarged Roller Brush are more than enough to handle any rubbish.

In terms of mopping, the DEEBOT X2 OMNI is fitted with two mopping pads and can provide continuous downforce for deep mopping. So in the test, the DEEBOT X2 OMNI still performed very well against dry coffee on wooden floors. After a few rounds, the coffee on the floor was completely cleaned. It’s also worth noting that the mopping pads have the highest 15mm lift height on the market, which can be automatically raised when climbing up to carpets, and prevent the watery mop from wetting them.

Station

The DEEBOT X2 OMNI is equipped with a full-featured station like its predecessor. But it is in a more compact size. The station is equipped with a variety of functions such as Auto-Empty, Washing the mop cloths with hot water, Hot Air Drying, Auto-Clean, and so on. Well, hot-water mop-washing has always been the proud feature of ECOVACS.

In actual use, even the heavily polluted mops can be cleaned again after being washed with hot water at 55°C and dried with hot air. And no manual operation is required at all during the whole process.

The Station goes one step further when it comes to self-cleaning. After cleaning the sink, users can simply press and hold the button for 5 seconds, and the station will automatically pump out the wastewater. But of course, the cleaning sink component can be easily disassembled for manual cleaning if you want.

APP

The new Deebot comes with a lot of AI features, so I can leave everything to the AI without any setup, and of course, I can set up the cleaning schedule and area manually. And the new 3D map in the app still surprised me a lot. After building the map, I can create a digital map of my room layout, and then I can drag the robots in the map or click on a location to clean it, just like playing a video game.

Interaction

DEEBOT X2 OMNI has an exclusive voice assistant – YIKO2.0. YIKO2.0 is very smart. I noticed on my first use that it would auto-turn around based on where I was shouting to make sure the microphone was aimed at me. With this upgraded YIKO 2 version, the robot can understand more complex commands (like ‘clean the living room with maximum suction power’). So I can just lie on the sofa, open my mouth and let DEEBOT X2 OMNI do all the cleaning for me. The suction power is already at the maximum

Verdict

The DEEBOT X2 OMNI is truly a flagship machine, with great suction power, unique Navigation, smart routing, a full-featured station, and lots of AI supports. Compared to other products on the market, the DEEBOT X2 OMNI is like a next-gen product.

So what do you think about ECOVACS DEEBOT X2 OMNI? I’d really love to know what you all think in the comments. And if you are interested in the cutting-edge robot vacuum, you can click the links below to learn more details. Thanks a lot for watching. This is Will from GizmoChina here. See you soon!

Infiniti’s Vision Qe Concept EV is Set to be Unveiled on October 24

Infiniti is preparing to roll out its first all-electric model, the Vision Qe concept on October 24. Industry experts see it as much more than just a new vehicle debut. It’s a vital piece of Infiniti’s strategic plan not just to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving auto market but also to recover from recent sales slumps.

The company even showcased a 3D logo and a brand fragrance for the promotion

The upcoming concept vehicle, teased only as a silhouette so far, seems to be a four-door coupe with a roofline that pays homage to the Hyundai Ioniq 6. This new electric vehicle (EV) isn’t just a one-off model but rather a signal of what’s to come from the brand, as part of Nissan’s Ambition 2030 Strategy. The ambitious plan aims to add 19 new EVs and 27 new electrified models to Infiniti’s lineup by the end of the decade.

Infiniti

While Infiniti wrapped up last year with a concerning 20 percent drop in sales, the numbers have been improving this year, with a nearly 48 percent uptick in the first nine months. This launch could be the much-needed jolt to help the brand make a strong comeback. Infiniti is pulling all stops, from introducing a new three-dimensional logo to offering a refreshed retail experience and even a unique brand scent, as part of its updated brand identity.

The Vision Qe concept is a cornerstone in Infiniti’s aggressive EV plan, developed jointly with Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. The trio is looking to invest a staggering $25 billion into the segment, eyeing a substantial 65% reduction in battery costs by 2028.

Additionally, Infiniti projects that nearly 98% of its European sales will be electrified by 2026, and aims for 40% in the U.S. by the end of the decade. This makes the upcoming Vision Qe not just a car but a manifestation of Infiniti’s future — a future that seems increasingly electrifying and geared toward reclaiming its market position.

Google Pixel 8 Pro Absolutely Smashes the DxOMark Display Tests

The newly launched Google’s Pixel 8 Pro has just added another feather to its cap, securing the top spot in DxOMark‘s display rankings. While many have long praised Google’s Pixel series only for its software and camera capabilities, it’s high time we shift some of that focus towards the phone’s display.

The Pixel didn’t just do great; it excelled in multiple key areas

The Pixel 8 Pro didn’t just do well; it dominated in key areas like readability and color. With a score of 162 in readability, DxOMark confirms what most of us already suspected—the Pixel 8 Pro’s display is your best bet for legible text and vibrant images, even under direct sunlight. No more squinting your eyes or searching for shade to read an email or catch up on your favorite blogs.

Pixel 8 Pro

DxOMark’s assessment also threw light on the phone’s touch and motion handling capabilities. The Pixel 8 Pro scored an impressive 160 in touch responsiveness, offering a smooth experience when scrolling through web pages or social feeds. But here’s the kicker—the phone showed some slight frame mismatches during gaming tests. If you’re a gamer, this might be something to keep in mind when choosing your next phone. The device’s performance was not completely without its weak spots. Its lowest score was in the ‘artifacts’ category, where it earned a respectable but not spectacular 121.

As remote work and digital entertainment become more ingrained in our daily lives, a phone’s display isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s essential. The Pixel 8 Pro proves that it’s more than capable of meeting these demands, making it not just a smart buy, but a smart tool for modern living.

Xiaomi Moves Towards an Ad-Free User Experience, But There Is a Catch!

Xiaomi is one of the most diverse technology companies in the world, with products ranging from smartphones to electric vehicles to smart washing machines. Of course, one of these is smart TVs, which have become an essential part of our homes, and Chinese tech giant is a major player in this market. Xiaomi makes money from both the sale of smart TVs and the ads displayed on them. However, recently, manufacturers, including Xiaomi, have been forced to update their TV policies to give users the option to disable boot-up ads. Here are the details..

Xiaomi Gives Users Option to Disable Boot-Up Ads

For a long time, Xiaomi has been attracting users’ attention with its affordable products. However, the company compensates for the money it doesn’t make during sales by displaying ads to the users of its products later on. For instance, up until recently in China (and likely in other parts of the world as well), Xiaomi TV users were forced to watch a short advertisement when they first turned on their TV.

Xiaomi Smart Tv ads policies

This practice was often met with frustration as it was unexpected and disrupted the user’s viewing experience. Moreover, this revenue model is being adopted by many manufacturers and is becoming increasingly widespread. However, the winds of change began to blow when legal and consumer pressures started mounting against such practices.

As a result, the Consumer Protection Committee of Jiangsu Province had previously called for several smart TV brands to offer a “one-click close” option for their startup advertisements. Naturally, this practice became widespread, and one by one, smart TV manufacturers began offering users the option to disable mandatory advertisements.

Now, Xiaomi TVs are also said to be providing the choice to “turn off the startup advertisement.” To do this, users need only contact customer service. They are informed that they can speak to a live customer representative via the Xiaomi Mall App and provide their TV’s MAC address. After this, it’s expected that within 2-3 business days, the startup advertisements will be turned off.

As consumer demands and local regulations change, Xiaomi and other manufacturers are taking steps to balance their business interests with consumer rights. This is important because the tech landscape is constantly evolving.
