Vivo V2313A bags 3C certification, could be a new Y-series phone

A Vivo phone with model number V2313A recently received radio certification in China. The same device has appeared in the database of the 3C certification platform. The charging capabilities of the device that have emerged through the 3C listing suggest that it could be a new mid-range phone.

The 3C certification of the Vivo V2313A indicates that it is a 5G-ready phone that may ship with a 44W charger. Unfortunately, there is no information on the final marketing name of the V2313A.

When the device was spotted at the radio certification last month, it was speculated that it could be one of the Vivo X10 series of smartphones. However, the charging capabilities of the device hint that it could be an upcoming Y-series phone.

Earlier this year, Vivo launched the Vivo X Flip, its first clamshell phone with a foldable screen. The X Flip comes with support for 44W fast charging. Hence, there is a possibility that the V2313A could be an updated version of the device dubbed the Vivo X Flip+. However, the rumor mill is yet to reveal any information on the existence of such a device. Hence, the V2313A is likely to end up as a Y-branded model.

In related news, Vivo is working on a couple of new devices for different markets. The brand recently launched the Vivo V29 5G with the Snapdragon 778G onboard in the European market. The device is expected to arrive soon in Asian markets. The brand is said to be working on a Dimensity 8-series powered Vivo X100 5G. As for China, Vivo is expected to announce the Vivo Pad Air tablet in the near future. The X100 and X100 Pro with Dimensity 9300 are expected to debut in November this year in China. The X100 Pro+, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, may break cover in Q1 2024, along with the Vivo X Fold 3 foldable phone.

Sonos, a company known for making high-end speakers, is now gearing up to launch its next portable speaker, dubbed Sonos Move 2 in a few weeks, most likely towards the end of next month.

As per the report from The Verge, the upcoming Sonos Move 2 speaker will be similar to the first-generation Sonos Move in terms of design and weigh a bit over six pounds.

While the speaker is said to have the same design, the company has reportedly made several improvements when it comes to audio performance, connectivity, and battery life. The report from The Verge has also revealed the first look of the Sonos Move 2 (pictured above), which it claims to have obtained from sources familiar with the company’s plans.

It is said that the Move 2 speaker will come with support for true stereo audio playback, made possible because of the addition of dual-angled tweeters. This is a major improvement given that the original Move supported only mono output as it had only one tweeter. There will also be a woofer for handling bass.

The device features Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 for connectivity and has a new switch on the back for disabling the voice assistant microphones. For voice assistance, it supports Amazon Alexa and Sonos Voice Control but has dropped Google Assistant.

The speaker will have support for line-in audio through a USB-C port and the users will also be able to charge mobile devices using the same port. It will also have IP56 ratings, making it dust and water resistance, and to protect it from drops and accidents, the company is said to have opted for shock-absorbent materials.

As for the battery life, the device is touted to support continuous playback of around 24 hours, more than double the 10-hour playback supported by the first-generation Sonos Move. The standby endurance should also improve as the company has designed the battery to use less energy when idle.

Coming to pricing and availability, the Sonos Move 2 will reportedly come in three colors — Black, White, and Olive. It is expected to be priced at $449 in the United States and could be launched in a few weeks.

Samsung starts OLED panel production for iPhone 15 series, BOE faces challenges

Samsung Display has received approval for mass production of OLED panels for all four models in Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 series according to a report by The Elec. This is expected to provide a significant advantage to Samsung, as its competitors BOE and LG Display face production disruptions. LG Display received conditional approval for the Pro model, while BOE is encountering struggles with its supply commitments this year.

Samsung Display’s Opportunity Amidst Rivals’ Struggles

BOE is experiencing difficulties with the “Dynamic Island” feature, which requires hole display processing for all iPhone 15 models. Unfortunately, BOE’s panels are suffering from light bleed around the Dynamic Island cutout.

On the other hand, LG Display is facing delays in obtaining mass production approval for the Pro Max model. LG Display’s issues are exacerbated by concurrent production problems with the iPhone’s camera modules from suppliers Sony and LG Innotek, causing a parts backlog. This may influence Apple’s production prioritization towards Pro models, which have constituted a significant portion of iPhone series shipments in recent years.

Following LG Display’s conditional approval, efforts are underway to expedite the Pro Max model’s approval. Despite facing difficulties with bezel and hole display implementation for OLEDs, LG Display aims to increase its iPhone 15 Pro model OLED production. However, ongoing production disruptions for the iPhone 15 Pro Max may result in a larger profit share for Samsung Display, which also benefited last year from LG Display’s production issues.

In addition to these complexities, Samsung Display may increase its material and component orders amid the production intricacies. However, a patent dispute with BOE adds further complications to the market. BOE recently filed for an invalidation trial of one of Samsung Display’s US patents, related to Samsung’s diamond pixel structure, which BOE allegedly used when supplying OLEDs for Apple iPhones since the iPhone 12.

The Huawei Children’s Watch 5 Vitality Edition is rated IPX8 life-grade waterproof protection.

The watch has an AI visual evaluation algorithm that can be used to evaluate a child’s back, shoulder, and armpit inclination angles. It helps to give an overall evaluation result and interpretation suggestions.

Xiaomi Smart Band 8 gets multiple new features with the latest firmware update

Xiaomi Smart Band 8 is the company’s latest-gen fitness tracker. It was unveiled in April at the Xiaomi 13 Ultra launch event in China.

It has been nearly four months, however, the wearable is yet to make its way to global markets. Despite being sold in a single country, the product already hit over 1.1 million units in shipments in June itself.

The device is now receiving a new firmware update that adds several new features. Let’s take a look at them.

According to ITHome, Xiaomi is rolling out a new system update for the Xiaomi Smart Band 8. The latest update bumps up the firmware version to 1.3.176.

The changelog notes that the latest update brings ‘Smart Do Not Disturb’ function. Further, it adds two new watch faces (Sui Sui Pin An and Fist Challenge) and a vitality value widget.

Further, the wearable adds bus card support for Lanzhou and Tibet. It also gets a feedback function when using NFC.

The update also comes with a new Frisbee motion algorithm and adds somatosensory game vibration feedback. Lastly, users can now access their fitness tracker’s charging records from the companion app.

Apart from the aforementioned newly added features, the fresh firmware update also optimizes connection stability on iOS and fixes other known issues.

In order to update the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 to the latest firmware, users will have to first update the companion app to the newest version available. The update should be available for the imported units as well.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE BIS certification hints an imminent India launch

Samsung’s new fan edition smartphone has been in the news for quite some and looks like it will launch very soon. Samsung Galaxy S23 FE should be released sometime this quarter but there’s no official announcement as of yet. While we wait, the handset has received the BIS certification, hinting it will launch soon in India.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE seems near

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE has been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website with model number SM-S711B/DS. This is likely the Indian variant of the device. Although the listing does not have anything interesting apart from the model number, it does hint the phone could launch pretty soon in India.

Previous reports have claimed the Galaxy S23 FE will arrive with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. While the smartphone is likely to feature the Exynos 2200 chipset under the hood, there are chances Samsung will also launch a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset version in some markets.

The handset could come with 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The S23 FE could come fueled by a 4,500mAh battery with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging. On the software front, it will likely come preloaded with One UI 5.1.1-based Android 13.

Talking about the camera department, the Galaxy S23 FE’s rear camera setup will include new 50MP main camera with OIS support. It could also feature an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. This seems like the same sensor as the one found on the Galaxy S21 FE. The device will be equipped with a 10MP selfie camera, which likely uses the same sensor as the Galaxy S22 series.

Earlier today, Xiaomiui reported that Kimovil has published the renders of the upcoming Redmi Pad SE on its website. The product listing also includes the specs of the device.

These specs match those of the heavily leaked Redmi Pad 2. Xiaomiui has even spotted the MIUI builds of the Redmi Pad SE.

As per the MIUI codebase, this tablet is codenamed ‘Xun’. Currently, there are two regional MIUI builds for this device, namely ‘Global’ and ‘EEA’. Thus, it will be released in Europe and select international markets.

The Redmi Pad SE (formerly Redmi Pad 2) will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chip paired with LPDDR4x RAM. It will be built around a 10.x-inch display (LCD) with a 2K resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate.

It will be equipped with Dolby Atmos-supported quad speakers. There will be an 8MP camera on the rear and another 8MP snapper on the front.

The device will boot MIUI 14 based on Android 13. Lastly, it will be backed by an 8,000mAh battery with support for 22.5W charging.

The Xiaomi MIJIA water heater 18L S2 can be used to provide hot water to meet the entire household’s needs. It offers an improved cycle speed (by up to 50%) and bath boost (by up to 130%). It has an 18L capacity and adopts zero-cold water technology for the whole house. It also adopts a precision-controlled constant temperature system to achieve real-time and precise temperature control.

OnePlus Nord 3 was unveiled in most regions last month but its availability in the UK was pending. Now, the smartphone has been listed on OnePlus UK’s official website for pre-orders. The successor to last year’s Nord 2 comes with a Dimensity 9000 chip and a large AMOLED display. OnePlus has also packed a 5,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. Here are the details.

As spotted by GSMArena, OnePlus Nord 3 has made its official appearance on the brand’s UK website, and it’s priced at £499 for the 16/256GB variant. Open sales are set to kick off on August 17 at 10 AM BST time. And guess what? If you pre-order, you’ll score a free pair of stylish OnePlus Nord Buds 2 in your choice of Gray or White.

The OnePlus Nord 3 5G comes with a 6.73-inch AMOLED display with a center-aligned punch-hole cutout. The panel supports a 1.5K resolution, 1,450 nits peak brightness, and a 120Hz refresh rate.

For photography, the OnePlus smartphone gets a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP OIS-assisted Sony IMX890 main sensor. There’s also an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro unit. In the selfie camera department, you get a 16MP snapper.

Infinix GT 10 Pro is an affordable gaming solution

Infinix GT 10 Pro debuts with a rather unique design that seems to be inspired by the popular video game Cyberpunk. It also gets an LED light indicator, although it doesn’t seem to be RGB. Infinix is offering the device in Cyber Black and Mirage Silver colors.

Chinese e-scooter manufacturer Yadea has unveiled the KS6 Pro electric scooter. The new e-scooter which is an upgraded version of the KS5 Pro, features a triple braking system, self-healing tires, and a range of 34 miles (~55km). Yadea says safety is at the heart of the design of the KS6 Pro and it comes with 10-inch self-healing tubeless tires. The self-healing tires allow the bike to be more versatile and a low-maintenance e-scooter.

The Yadea KS6 Pro has a top speed of 30km/h thanks to its electric motor with a maximum output of 800W. The latest Yadea e-mobility solution sports a more powerful braking system than its peers. It has a drum brake at the front and a disc brake at the rear in addition to an electric brake. Most e-scooters can boast of at most two braking solutions while the KS6 Pro has three. It gives the scooter a very high response time of 0.1s within a 4-meter distance.

The KS6 Pro’s MPN polymer-coated tires are self-healing and also have tubeless properties. The tires allow the e-scooter to move comfortably in tough terrains. The deck handles have slip-free treatment. Its dual-shock absorbing shock suspension system ensures comfortable rides. The brushless DC motor of the scooter and its 15,300mAh battery delivers the needed torque and range.

A recent leak from tipster FixedFocus has unveiled the render of Xiaomi’s possible upcoming phone featuring a pop-up front camera. This intriguing design aspect isn’t entirely new but represents a renewed trend in the smartphone industry. Introduced to the world in 2018 with the Vivo NEX, the pop-up camera was initially developed as a solution to the problem of incorporating a front camera without compromising on-screen real estate. It has always been a subject of debate, with its pros and cons from an aesthetic and functionality standpoint.

Reviving the Pop-Up Camera: Xiaomi’s Bold Move in Smartphone Design

Xiaomi’s implementation, however, is based on their “Hidden Electronic Device and Hidden Camera” patent, which promises reduced space occupation, leading to a thinner and lighter device compared to previous pop-up front camera models. This advanced design aims to eliminate some of the shortcomings associated with the earlier models, such as the increase in the device’s weight and size.

The patent granted by the National Intellectual Property Administration confirms the inclusion of a housing, camera module, and retractable reflective component. The reflective component plays a vital role in protecting the camera module, reducing space usage, and improving pixel quality by reflecting images onto the camera module for imaging.

Over the past few years, the popularity of pop-up cameras has seen highs and lows, with many brands opting for hole-punch cameras or under-screen cameras for a sleeker design. While Apple with their iPhone 14 Pro series adopts a dynamic island design, and Huawei’s Mate60 series is rumored to follow a similar path. However, Xiaomi’s return to this design showcases the resilience and potential for innovation in the pop-up camera technology.

The phone’s design with this revived and re-engineered pop-up camera presents a true full-screen effect with invisible front bezels if it adopts a four-curved design. This promises an even more immersive experience for users, showcasing the full potential of the screen without any obstructions.

Xiaomi Mijia Air Purifier 4 Pro H specifications:

One notable feature is its ability to remove formaldehyde, bacteria, second-hand smoke, and odors. The Mijia Air Purifier 4 Pro H can display the concentration of formaldehyde, with an accuracy of up to 0.001mg/m3.

With a 99% formaldehyde removal rate, this air purifier is equipped with advanced technologies such as activated carbon and high-molecular nano-reactants, ensuring thorough decomposition of formaldehyde. Additionally, it achieves an impressive 99.4% TVOC removal rate within just one hour.

The six-layer composite filter comes with a dual antibacterial coating and real-time UV sterilization, effectively eliminating bacteria and toxins. The filter is larger than the standard Pro model and comes with a long lifespan of 10-14 months, costing only 0.84 yuan ($0.12) per day.

For efficient air purification, the Mijia Air Purifier 4 Pro H can output 10,000 liters of clean air per minute, making it capable of purifying a large bedroom every three hours, suitable for an area of 42-72 square meters.

The device’s practical design includes a removable top cover for easy cleaning, preventing dust accumulation. Moreover, hidden omnidirectional wheels at the bottom allow for convenient movement between different rooms. It also comes with a 2-meter-long power cable and a high-resolution OLED display. The display shows various information regarding the weather along with on-screen controls.

As expected from Xiaomi, the Mijia Air Purifier 4 Pro H offers smart features, supporting various control methods like the Mi Home app, and Xiao AI voice assistant. Xiaomi Mijia Air Purifier 4 Pro H will go on sale from August 8th. The retail price is 2199 yuan ($306).

OnePlus is confirmed to launch the Ace 2 Pro smartphone later this month in China. It will arrive as an upgraded version of the OnePlus Ace 2 (review) that debuted earlier in February this year. The brand has teased a few features of the upcoming Pro variant. It has already appeared on 3C certification website and Geekbench platform. Now, the device has been spotted on the AnTuTu benchmarking platform.

The OnePlus Ace 2 Pro is already confirmed to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. It is also confirmed to be the first smartphone in the world to be equipped with a Tiangong cooling system that is said to be the most powerful vapor chamber with an area of 9140mm².

The Geekbench listing of the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro revealed 16GB RAM onboard. On AnTuTu, the device has a model number PJA110 and it reveals 24GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. This is in line with a previous rumor claiming that the smartphone will pack a mammoth RAM and storage capacity. The latest benchmark listing mentions that the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro has an Adreno 740 GPU. The upcoming offering will feature a 120Hz refresh rate and run on Android 13 OS out of the box.

The OnePlus Ace 2 Pro scores 1,733,703 points on the AnTuTu benchmark test. It is a sum total of four tests. The smartphone scores 456,555 and 613,916 in CPU and GPU tests respectively. In MEM and UX, the device has 363,631, and 299,601 points respectively.
