Xiaomi launches the MIJIA Desk Lamp Pro read-write version with up to 1690lx brightness

As the November 11 shopping festival approaches, Xiaomi continues to ramp up its new product offering. The company has launched a reading and writing version of the MIJIA Desk Lamp Pro. The new lamp is priced at 299 yuan ($41).

MIJIA Desk Lamp Pro read-write version

The MIJIA Desk Lamp Pro read-write version has a lamp head with a length of 380mm and a maximum illumination range of 1.5 square meters. The light covers the entire desk, and the edges of the desk can be seen clearly.

The central illuminance of the table lamp reaches 1690 Lux, nearly two times higher than that of the previous generation. The light uniformity within the range of 300mm reaches 2.33.

The table lamp complies with China’s AA-level illumination standard to ensure that the light irradiated on the desk is uniform, soft and bright. This reduces the irritation of the eyes to the contrast of light and dark.

The MIJIA Desk Lamp Pro read-write version can be controlled from the MIJIA app allowing users to adjust the light’s color temperature between 2700K and 5500K. The brightness can also be adjusted between 1% and 100%. There is also a physical knob at the base of the lamp that can be used to adjust the light’s brightness. The knob can also be used to change the color temperature if it is pressed and rotated at the same time.

We can consider it as the first real affordable flagship powered by the most powerful MediaTek mobile platform of this year and, thanks to this and other features, it is an amazing phone for all the gamers out there. But there is another device released by Vivo’s sub-brand perfect for gamers and with top-tier performance. We are talking about the iQOO 9T: while the Neo 7 is equipped with the most powerful MediaTek chipset, the 9T is fueled by the most advanced chipset released by Qualcomm this year, if we exclude the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Here is a comparison between the main specifications of the iQOO Neo7 and the iQOO 9T which will highlight the differences between these two phones.

Design

The iQOO Neo 7 and the iQOO 9T have original designs, with big camera modules and special color options. Among them, I personally prefer the iQOO 9T due to its rear cover made of two pieces of different colors, especially in the BMW M Motorsport-themed edition, also known as the Legend color option. It is also built with better materials, including glass for the back (the front glass is protected by Gorilla Glass 5) and aluminum for the frame. Further, the 9T adds something very interesting for gamers, which we will tell you about in the section of this comparison related to the display. Last but not least, this handset has the IP52 certification making it dust resistant and splash resistant, but note that it is not a waterproof phone.

Display

The iQOO Neo7 and the iQOO 9T have exactly the same display panel. It is an AMOLED display with a diagonal of 6.78 inches able to show up to one billion colors with a Full HD Plus resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ certification. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and it includes an in-display fingerprint reader. Unlike the most advanced Vivo flagships, the in-display fingerprint reader in this case is optical and not ultrasonic. The iQOO 9T comes with an additional feature of the display: the Monster Touch. It is able to detect the pressure level of your finger in order to unlock more commands during gaming sessions. It is a very useful feature for pro gamers. Another important advantage of the 9T is the presence of stereo speakers, as the iQOO Neo 7 has just a mono speaker.

Specs & Software

The hardware department is the strongest point of these two phones. They are powered by the best processors by MediaTek and Qualcomm, respectively. The iQOO Neo7 sports the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ platform built with a 4 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture which includes a Cortex X2 CPU running at 3.2 GHz, two Cortex A710 CPUs running at 2.85 GHz, and four Cortex A510 CPUs running at 1.8 GHz, as well as a Mali G710 MC10 GPU. The RAM goes up to 12 GB, while the internal storage goes up to 512 GB. The highest-end memory configuration of the iQOO 9T has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, while the processor is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 built at 4 nm and with a max frequency of 3.19 GHz. Note that the Neo 7 runs Android 13 out of the box, while the 9T is based on Android 12.

Camera

The iQOO 9T wins the camera comparison thanks to the presence of better secondary sensors: we got a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 12 MP telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom, and a 13 MP ultrawide shooter with a FOV of 120 degrees. The iQOO Neo7 has a triple rear camera including the same 50 MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide camera, and a 2 MP macro shooter.

Battery

With the iQOO Neo7, you can get a bigger 5000 mAh battery providing a longer battery life. The blazing charging speeds are the same, thanks to 120W fast charging.

Price

The iQOO Neo7 starts from about $380 or €380 in China, while you need about $600/€600 to purchase the iQOO 9T in India. If we consider the overall specifications, the 9T wins the comparison thanks to better cameras.

Nothing Ear (2) design revealed through leaked renders

Last year, the startup brand Nothing unveiled its first TWS earbuds, called Nothing Ear (1), which gained huge popularity among consumers due to their unique transparent design. The company is also gearing up to unveil affordable Ear (Stick) buds on October 26. Now, a new report has shared product images of Nothing’s next pair of earbuds, called Ear (2), hinting the new hearables might launch soon.

91Mobiles, in collaboration with Kuba Wojciechowski, has shared a few renders of the upcoming Nothing Ear (2), showcasing their design. We can see that both the earbuds and the charging case feature a transparent design, which is fairly similar to the previous gen Ear (1). There’s a plastic module in the case, which likely contains all the electronic elements and the battery. The only difference we detected is the “ear (2)” branding on the stem of the buds instead of the Nothing logo.

Nothing-Ear-2-Design-leak

Hardware details for the Nothing Ear (2) are still unknown. We should learn more details about them as the launch nears.

Nothing ear (1) specifications

The Nothing Ear (1) debuted last year with an out-of-the-box design and decent features. It comes with 11.6mm dynamic drivers and supports AAC and SBC codecs. The TWS earbuds support ANC (active noise cancellation) and also sport a transparency mode that lets users hear their surroundings through their earbuds. They have touch controls on the stem, which can be used to control playback and toggle ANC and transparency modes.

Nothing Ear 1 offers up to 5.7 hours of battery life on a single charge and a total of 34 hours with the charging case. The case can be charged through USB Type C and Qi wireless chargers. The company recently increased the pricing of the Ear (1). It now retails at $149.

Samsung unveils a new 200-megapixel ISOCELL HPX sensor

Global tech giant Samsung has unveiled the ISOCELL HPX, a brand-new 200MP sensor. The new unveiling is coming on the heels of the announcement of the ISOCELL HP3 200MP sensor back in June. The ISOCELL HPX has a 0.56-micron pixel size that is capable of reducing the area of the camera module by 20%, resulting in a thinner and smaller smartphone body.

The ISOCELL HPX utilizes Samsung’s Advanced DTI (Deep Trench Isolation) technology, which not only isolates each pixel separately but also boosts sensitivity to take clear vivid pictures. The ISOCELL also has ultra-quick and ultra-precise autofocus thanks to the Super QPD autofocus solution.

Furthermore, the new sensor utilizes Tetra pixel (16 pixels in one) technology. This is capable of providing a positive shooting experience in low light. Under such conditions, the HPX can automatically switch between three different lighting modes based on the available light. Samsung says the pixel size is maintained at 0.56 microns (m) in a well-lit environment, yielding 200 million pixels. On the other hand, the pixel is converted to 1.12 microns (m) in a low-light environment, yielding 50 million pixels. Finally, in a low-light environment, 16 pixels are combined to yield a 2.24 micron (m) 12.5-million-pixel sensor.

According to Samsung, this dynamic performance will enable the ISOCELL HPX to produce sharp images as possible, even when the light source is limited.

In addition, the Samsung ISOCELL HPX sensor is capable of recording 8K video at 30 frames per second. It equally supports seamless dual HDR shooting in 4K and FHD modes. Staggered HDR, according to Samsung, captures shadows and bright lights in a scene at three different exposures: low, medium, and high depending on the shooting environment. After that, it will combine all three exposure photos to create the best possible HDR pictures and videos.

It also allows the sensor to render the image at over 4 trillion colors (14-bit color depth), which is 64 times more than Samsung’s predecessor’s 68 billion colors (12-bit color depth).

Samsung didn’t announce the availability details of the new imaging sensor. We expect to find out about that in the coming weeks.

The primary snapper will be complimented by an 8MP ultra-wide unit and a 5MP macro sensor. It is said that Samsung will be getting rid of the depth sensor on the upcoming A series devices.

DESIGN

The new iQOO Neo 7 adopts the basic form factor of its predecessor. However, there are some changes in its rear design.

While both the Neo 7 and Neo 6 come with a squarish body frame with rounded corners and a center-placed punch-hole camera at the front, they differ when it comes to the design of the rear camera module. The iQOO 7 adopts a rectangular rear camera module, which further includes a circular housing to include the two cameras on board. The flash and other sensors are shifted outside this circular housing.

On the other hand, the iQOO Neo 6 comes with three camera sensors and a flash housed inside the black camera housing. Honestly, both the designs look good, and it will be a matter of individual preference whether you like the iQOO 7 or the iQOO 6 better.

iQOO is also offering more color options for the new device like Orange, Blue, and Black. To recall, the iQOO Neo 6 came in two options, namely Cyber Rage and Dark Nova.

In terms of dimensions, the iQOO Neo 7 is taller than its predecessor. It comes with the dimensions of 164.8 x 76.9 x 8.5 mm which is both taller and wider than the 163 x 76.2 x 8.5 mm dimensions of the iQOO Neo 6. Also, the new model increases its weight by 7 grams to 197 grams.

Both phones have an in-display fingerprint sensor onboard.

DISPLAY

The iQOO Neo 7 brings a larger and brighter display as compared to its predecessor. The Neo 7 comes with a 6.78-inch FHD+ 1080 x 2400 pixel AMOLED display featuring a high 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, 360Hz touch sampling rate, 2000Hz instant touch sampling rate, up to 1500nits brightness, and Pixelworks independent display chip Pro+. The upgraded Pixelworks chip will offer better video and motion processing on the new device.

In comparison, the iQOO Neo 6 features a smaller 6.62-inch AMOLED, 120Hz display with HDR10+. The peak brightness is slightly lower at 1300 nits but overall, the display should be similar to the new model. To recall, the iQOO Neo 6 features an older generation of Pixelworks X5 series chip.

SPECS

Under the hood, the new model also brings some changes, including a flagship-grade gaming chipset. The iQOO Neo 7 comes with the latest Dimensity 9000 Plus processor on board, taking its performance to the top. In comparison, the iQOO Neo 6 international model came with the Snapdragon 870 chipset on board, while the Chinese model featured a flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. Combined with the new Pixelworks chip, the iQOO Neo 7 should offer great gaming and performance.

In terms of configurations, iQOO has gone all out with the Neo 7. It is offering the new model with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage in China. On the other hand, the iQOO Neo 6 was limited to a maximum of 12GB RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The new model also brings the latest Android 13 OS on board with OriginOS Ocean on top. On the other hand, the iQOO Neo 6 still runs on Android 12 OS.

CONNECTIVITY

The new Dimensity processor also brings some upgrades in the connectivity department. The Neo 7 adds support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 vs 5.2 found on the Neo 6. You also get NFC and an IR port on board.

CAMERAS

The iQOO Neo 7 features a triple cameras setup bringing a 50MP camera with a 1/1.56″ Sony IMX766V sensor, f/1.88 aperture, and OIS, another 8MP UW sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and finally a 2MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture.

In the camera department, the only major change is in the primary camera. The old iQOO Neo 6 came with a 64MP sensor, but the remaining sensors are the same as the new model.

There is a 16MP snapper on the front for selfies and video calls, which is shared by the two phones.

BATTERY

In terms of the battery department, the iQOO Neo 7 also brings a few upgrades. In addition to increasing its battery capacity from 4700mAh on the Neo 6 model to 5000mAh, the new model also increases its charging speed to 120W, bringing it up to flagship levels.

Unfortunately, both phones don’t come with wireless charging on board.

PRICING

The iQOO Neo7 starts at RMB 2699 ($373) for the 8GB/128GB model and goes up to RMB 3,599 ($487) for the 12GB/512GB model. This is actually cheaper than the RMB 2799 ($386) launch price of the iQOO Neo 6 in China.

You can get the iQOO Neo 6 on websites like Giztop internationally or via retailers like Amazon in India. The new Neo7 is also available for purchase via Giztop right now.

VERDICT

The iQOO Neo 6 looks like an excellent upgrade over its predecessor. If you already have the Neo 6 model, it may not make sense to upgrade to the new model, but if you are looking for a newer phone out there, the Neo 7 seems like a solid smartphone for its price.

As usual, the Neo 7 sticks to the philosophy of offering solid value for the money you pay for it!

Google Pixel 7 vs Galaxy S22 – Specs Comparison

The Google Pixel 7 series is now officially available for purchase throughout the globe. The standard Pixel 7 model is particularly in demand because of its compact dimensions and cheaper price tag. However, there are a lot of good phones in this price segment with even better hardware than the Pixel 7. Given how the Pixel series has traditionally relied on exceptional software for its processing and camera prowess, it could be confusing for a lot of users to decide on which phone to get in the flagship price segment.

One of the biggest upgrades on the Pixel 7 is the new second-gen Google Tensor G2 processor, which brings a number of improvements over last year’s Tensor chip. There are upgrades in the dimensions and the camera departments too as compared to its predecessor.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S22 adopts a more subtle approach for its design, with the cameras featuring an open design, and under the hood, you get a Snapdragon chip like most Android flagships of 2022.

As we mentioned above, the two phones have different philosophies for ensuring a premium experience, so let’s take a close look at the Google Pixel 7 vs Galaxy S22 to see how they differ from each other.

DESIGN

The Google Pixel 7 and the Galaxy S22 adopt very different designs for its back. The Pixel 7 continues with the horizontal camera bar at the back as the Pixel 6 series, while the Galaxy S22 comes with a similar traditional open-camera design as its predecessor. But this makes the two devices look poles apart in terms of their designs.

The horizontal camera bar on the Pixel 7 now comes in polished Aluminium and looks very premium. It’s definitely a design that’s bolder than the camera design on the Galaxy S22 which features individual sensors placed in a vertical alignment.

The Pixel 7 is available in three colors, namely, Snow, Obsidian, and Lemongrass. On the other hand, the Galaxy S22 comes in a number of fancier color options, like Black, White, Green, Pink Gold, and Bora Purple. Note that the two phones are IP68 dust and water-resistant too.

Coming to the dimensions, the Pixel 7 measures 155.6 x 73.2 x 8.7mm. While this might feel compact, the Galaxy S22 proves to be the true king of compact flagships with its smaller dimensions of 146 x 70.6 x 7.6 mm. Even in the weight department, the S22 5G comes in a very lightweight 167 grams body instead of the 197 grams body of the Pixel 7.

Overall, if you are looking for a compact flagship phone in 2022, the Galaxy S22 should be on top of your pick. That said, even the Pixel 7 looks like a pretty premium flagship and if you are a fan of the horizontal aluminum camera bar on its back, it will also make for a good-looking compact flagship of 2022.

End of the day, the design will always be a subjective department, and it really boils down to whether you like the rear design on the Pixel 7 or the one on the Galaxy S22, when you make your final pick.

DISPLAY

In terms of their displays too, the two phones differ quite significantly. The Galaxy S22 brings a much more compact 6.1-inch display as compared to the 6.4-inch one found on the Pixel 7. Both are 1080 x 2400 AMOLED HDR10+ panels. However, the Galaxy S22 offers a much faster 120Hz refresh rate compared to the 90Hz one on the Pixel 7 model.

As for their peak brightness, the Pixel 7’s 1400 nits is slightly higher than the 1300 nits found on the Galaxy S22.

In the display department, you can really go wrong with either of them but the Galaxy S22 has a slight advantage with its faster refresh rate.

SPECS

In terms of processing power, the Pixel 7 features the latest Tensor G2 chipset inside with Titan M2, bringing better performance over last year’s chip. The new G2 chip features two Cortex-X1 cores with two Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores. The chip has enough power to handle all the tasks thrown at it, but the real highlight of this new chipset is its ability to handle AI and ML.

In comparison, the Galaxy S22 comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1/Exynos 2200 chip inside. On paper, the Tensor G2 might not look like a powerful chip, but in reality, both are very powerful processors, and you won’t feel short of processing power when using either of the devices.

As for the RAM configurations, both the devices comes in a single 8GB RAM option. For storage, both models offer either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage onboard.

As for the software, the Pixel 7 comes with the latest Android 13 stock version. On the other hand, the Galaxy S22 was launched with Android 12 based One UI 4.1.1 but will soon be getting the Android 13 update. Google has promised at least three OS updates and 5 years of security updates on the Pixel 7. Samsung has promised an even better four years of One UI and five years of security updates for its top-end Galaxy S22 series.

CONNECTIVITY

In terms of connectivity, both phones come with Wi-Fi 6 support, Bluetooth 5.2 NFC, and a USB-C 3.2 port at the bottom.

You also get an under-display optical fingerprint sensor along with other sensors like gyro, proximity, compass, and barometer.

CAMERAS

As for its camera module, the Pixel 7 features a dual-camera setup, much similar to its predecessor model.

The new Pixel 7 features a 50MP primary camera and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor.  On the front, you get a 10.8MP f/2.2 sensor camera module for selfies and video calls.

In comparison, the Galaxy S22 features an even better camera module featuring a 50MP primary shooter, another 10MP 3X telephoto shooter, and a third 12MP 120° ultrawide camera. On the front, the S22 features a 30MP selfie shooter with autofocus.

On paper, the Galaxy S22 seems like the winner. But that’s unlikely the case. Google’s camera algorithms don’t really have a match in the industry, which means the camera performance from the two cameras onboard the Pixel 7 should be at par or better than the Galaxy S22. That said, the difference isn’t likely going to be significant, and both phones will offer above-average camera performance in this price range.

BATTERY

The Pixel 7 features a 4335mAh battery with 30W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. Despite the reduction in battery size, Google has said that the Pixel 7 can last for an entire day and can even add up to 72 hours under Extreme Battery Saver mode. On the other hand, the Galaxy S22 comes with an even smaller 3700mAh battery with 25W charging and 15W wireless charging.

It is worth mentioning that ensuring the fastest charging support of 30W would cost you a few more bucks, as neither Google nor Samsung offers a charger inside the box in most regions.

PRICE

The Pixel 7 starts at $599 in the USA. While in India, the phone is priced at INR 59,999. On the other hand, the Galaxy S22 retails for around $800 or INR 53,000 in the US and India, respectively after discounts.

Google Pixel 7 vs Galaxy S22 – VERDICT

If you want a really compact flagship with powerful gaming performance and a smoother display, go for the Galaxy S22. But if you want Google’s unique features, a bolder rear design, and slightly better battery life, you can get the Pixel 7.

OPPO is recruiting ColorOS 13 closed beta testers for Find X2 and X2 Pro

Back in August, OPPO showed off its latest custom Android skin— ColorOS 13. Shortly thereafter, the company rolled out stable builds of the software for this year’s flagship Find X5 and Find X5 Pro. In the latest development, the firm has kicked off ColorOS 13 closed beta program for the older OPPO Find X2 series in China. Let’s look at the details.

According to the announcement post, OPPO is seeking Closed Beta Testers in China who can assist the company in improving the software on the Find X2 and Find X2 Pro by testing ColorOS 13 beta builds (via ITHome). The testers will be required to communicate regularly with the brand to report issues and provide suggestions.

Users of the two special edition smartphones in the series— Find X2 League of Legends S10 Limited Edition and Find X2 Pro Lamborghini Edition— will also be able to apply for closed beta recruitment. OPPO will conduct the review of the applications in batches within 5 working days after the recruitment ends (noon, October 22) and the firmware will be released after the review within 3 working days.

It is worth mentioning that the beta build of the ColorOS 13 is reported to have several known issues that can significantly affect your daily usage. In addition, many common third-party apps are incompatible with the software.

There are a few notable upgrades and new features in ColorOS 13 (review). With an Aquamorphic design, OPPO’s custom Android skin includes all the latest features Google has introduced with the Android 13. Moreover, OPPO has included some exclusive features such as a Shadow-Reflective Clock widget, an IoT device control module, media playback controls for the updated Control Center, a Meeting Assistant, and more.
