Unfortunately, the listing doesn’t reveal much other than confirming its Bluetooth support and moniker. However, we expect the smartwatch to appear on multiple certifications revealing its specifications.

As of now, there are no details regarding its specifications but netizens are expecting it to arrive next year at CES 2022.

Redmi K40S cancelled, Redmi K50 series is being prepared

Last year, Redmi launched the Redmi K30S in China as the rebranded version of the Xiaomi Mi 10T. In September, Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro in global markets. There have been speculations that the 11T could be rebranded as the Redmi K40s in China. According to Mydrivers, Redmi General Manager revealed to Mi fans recently that there is no Redmi K40S, and the company is preparing the Redmi K50 lineup.

Even reliable tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that the Redmi K40S hasn’t appeared at Chinese certification sites, which indicates it will not be launching in the country. He added that the Redmi K40S would not have been as good as the company’s upcoming Snapdragon 870 powered flagships. One of the SD870 powered phones is expected to launch the Xiaomi branding, while the other one could be the last Redmi K40 series phone from the company.

Redmi fans in China have been waiting for a Redmi K40 series phone powered by the Snapdragon 888. It now appears that the company is unlikely to launch a K40 series handset with SD888 in the home market. The tipster claimed that the company is gearing to launch the Xiaomi 12 lineup and Redmi K50 series.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 5G was announced as the first Snapdragon 888 powered phone in December last year. Hence, it is likely that the Xiaomi 12 may go official with the upcoming Snapdragon 8-series chip in December this year. Probably, the Redmi K50 lineup may go official around the Chinese New Year in February 2022.

Samsung launches limited edition Z Flip Pocket Denim jeans inspired by Galaxy Z Flip 3

Samsung has been betting on foldable smartphones and is actively pushing this new form factor as it aims to make them mainstream. The company has two different types of foldable phone designs — Galaxy Z Fold series with a booklet-type fold mechanism and a Galaxy Z Flip series that has a clamshell-like fold mechanism.

With the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series, the body becomes quite small when the device is folded, making it easier to place it in the pocket of jeans, which has been becoming difficult as the screen size keeps increasing.

Samsung x DrDenim Z Flip Pocket Denim

Now, to celebrate this Galaxy Z Flip series phone, Samsung is collaborating with Australia-based Dr. Denim to sell a limited edition of “Z Flip Pocket Denim” jeans. The company is planning to sell only 450 units of the new jeans. It is priced at $1,499 and will also come with the Galaxy Z Flip 3 smartphone.

The Z Flip Pocket Denim jeans have a “Z” shape stitched over the traditional pockets. The back pockets have been removed to be “flipped” to the front of the jeans. They are also made to fit the exact dimensions of the folded Galaxy Z Flip 3 phone.

The jeans made in collaboration with Samsung and Dr. Denim come in versions for both men and women and are now available today through the Dr. Denim website.

DJI, the popular drone maker, has officially announced that the company will be hosting a launch event in China on 5th November at 10:00 AM local time. The theme of the event is “Image Supreme” but the company has not revealed what is getting launched.

But, if the recent leaks are any indication, then the Chinese company is gearing up to launch its new Mavic-series drone, dubbed DJI Mavic 3.

DJI Launch Event on 5th November

The development is in line with the company’s plan of hosting three launch events for launching three different products. It hosted a launch event on 20th October to launch the Robin 4D, the brand’s first four-axis movie camera which is also equipped with a Zenmuse X9 imaging system.

Following the launch of Robin 4D, the company hosted another event on 27th October where it launched the DJI Action 2 full-scene sports camera that offers multi-form magnetic expansion options to adapt to various shooting scenes.

Now, at the upcoming 5th November event in China, the company is expected to launch the DJI Mavic 3, which has already been leaked online. It is said to be equipped with an omnidirectional obstacle avoidance system, and an infrared detection system.

It is said to feature a fully stabilized 3-axis gimbal with a telephoto and wide-angle camera with the ability to capture 5.2K video and 20-megapixel photos. The wide-angle lens has an aperture of f2.8, and the telephoto lens should support 7x zoom.

The product is expected to weigh around 920 grams. The drone is also said to feature a built-in 1TB storage capacity and come powered by a 5000mAh or 6000mAh capacity battery, which can provide 46 minutes of flight time. It is also expected to be bundled with standard accessories such as a remote control similar to that of the Mavic Air 2S.

If the reports are to be believed, then along with the Mavic 3, the company will also be launching the DJI Mavic 3 Cine which is likely designed for filmmakers and the camera will feature ND filters. To know for sure what’s up the company’s sleeves, we’ll have to wait for a couple of days more for the launch event to take place.

Rivian Automotive, a startup working on electric vehicles, is gearing up for an initial public offering (IPO) and the company is targeting a valuation of $54.6 billion, reveals amended prospectus filed by the company.

The startup says that it is planning to offer 135 million shares priced between $57 and $62, with an option for underwriters to purchase up to 20.25 million additional shares. At the high end of the range, that would give Rivian a valuation of over $60 billion on a fully diluted basis on its market debut.

Rivian R1T Electric Truck Featured

It is being reported that the company is planning to go public as soon as next week and plans to get listed on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol “RIVN.”

In its new filing, Rivian said that its investors, including Amazon and T. Rowe Price, have shown interest in buying up to $5 billion in shares in aggregate at the time of the IPO. The company will also be offering retail investors access to purchase a portion of its IPO shares through SoFi’s online brokerage platform.

For those who are unaware, Rivian is an electric vehicle startup which was operating in stealth mode since 2009 and launched its pickup truck and SUV in November 2018. The company was started with the aim of launching the Tesla Roadster competitor, but it pivoted to making SUVs and pickup trucks.

It has been investing heavily to ramp up production, including for its upscale all-electric R1T pickup truck, which was launched in September.

The company has received a significant amount of funding, including a $700 million round led by Amazon in 2019 and $500 million from Ford in April 2019. Recently, the company managed to get another $2.65 billion from T. Rowe and Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund.

Earlier this year, Amazon announced the purchase of 100,000 delivery vans which will be produced by Rivian as a part of the online retail giant’s ‘Climate Pledge.’ The new delivery vans for Amazon are already operational in some regions in the United States.

Xiaomi officially launched the Redmi Note 11 series in the Chinese market. Are the improvements provided by the Redmi Note 11 Pro worth its higher price or it is better to go for the older Redmi Note 10 Pro? Through this comparison, we will explain to you what is changed between the two models and let you understand which one provides the highest value for money.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES Dual SIM slot, 5G Dual SIM slot, 5G, IP53 certification

Design

The Redmi Note 11 Pro introduces a new design with flat borders just like the latest iPhones. It is a bit less ergonomic but more trendy and it makes the phone look more beautiful. Both the phones are made with a glass back and they have a front glass protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The Redmi Note 10 Pro is thinner and lighter because it houses a smaller battery, but the overall dimensions are more or less the same. Note that the Redmi Note 10 Pro features the IP53 certification making it dust resistant and splash resistant.

Display

FRom the display point of view, there are no changes between these two generations. The panels used for these two phones are exactly the same: an AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution (1080 x 2400 pixels), the HDR10 certification, and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The displays are protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and, despite being AMOLED, they do not include an in-display fingerprint reader. The fingerprint scanner is placed at the side, on the power key. In both cases, you get a punch hole placed centrally, right under the earpiece.

Hardware/Software

The most important difference between Redmi Note 11 Pro and Redmi Note 10 Pro related to the hardware department is 5G: the Redmi Note 11 Pro supports the 5G connectivity, while its predecessor does not. While the new model is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G mobile platform, the older one is fueled by the Snapdragon 732G. The Dimensity 920 is actually much more powerful than Snapdragon 732G, but we are still talking about a midrange processor. The SoC is paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage on the Redmi Note 10 Pro, while the Redmi Note 11 Pro features up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. Despite they belong to two different generations, they both run Android 11 out of the box, but the Redmi Note 11 Pro ships with a more recent MIUI 12.5, while its predecessor has MIUI 12.

Camera

The Redmi Note 11 Pro is actually a downgrade if we talk about cameras, but it is just a slight downgrade and it only regards secondary sensors. The main camera does not change: it remains a 108 MP sensor with an f/1.9 focal aperture. Even the 8 MP ultrawide sensor remains the same. The Redmi Note 10 Pro has a 5 MP macro camera and a 2 MP depth sensor, while the Redmi Note 11 Pro has just a 2 MP telephoto macro camera which is more disappointing in terms of photo quality. Even the front camera is the same 16 MP sensor on both phones.

Battery

The Redmi Note 11 Pro provides a slightly bigger battery with a capacity of 5160 mAh. If you do not enable 5G, thanks to the 6 nm production process of the Dimensity 920, you should obtain a slightly higher battery life. You also get faster charging speeds thanks to a 67W fast charging technology.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro: Price

The starting price of the Redmi Note 11 Pro for the Chinese market is €220/$255, while the Redmi Note 10 Pro used to start from €260/$300, but it is currently available with a way more affordable price tag than Redmi Note 11 Pro. However, the 11 Pro wins the value for money comparison thanks to 5G, faster charging, and a better processor.

Samsung Galaxy S22 design details leaked by a former Samsung employee

Some of the major tech companies like Samsung and Apple have not been spared of this issue, even with an array of security measures and deterrents in place. The latest news is that a former Samsung employee has released the design of the unreleased Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus smartphones. This comes in the wake of the earlier leak of the more expensive Galaxy S22 Ultra.Samsung Galaxy S22

In a report by a former Samsung employee with the moniker Super Roader, the S22 and S22 Plus have some key design differences from the Galaxy S22 Ultra. As per the leak, and further renders from digital artist Snoreyn, the S22 and S22 Plus will have a different camera design from the S22 Ultra, which had a drop-like design. There are also indications that the screens of the new models will be slightly shorter but wider than their predecessors, the Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus, respectively. Both the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus will maintain a full HD display and 120Hz refresh rate.

If the leaks are fully countenanced, then the S22 and S22 Plus will sport a flatter display from previous models, while the slight curve at the edges is maintained. The displays will also be brighter than previous models. These details add more fuel to the expectations and projections for the official release of the products sometime in early 2022. So, let us keep our fingers crossed to await the big news from Samsung in connection with the Galaxy S22 lineup.

Xiaomi releases Android 11 kernel source code for the Redmi Note 11 Pro

Just days after the release of the Redmi Note 11 series in China, Xiaomi has now released the Android 11 based kernel sources for the Redmi Note 11 Pro. Codenamed Pissarro, the source codes can be viewed from GitHub. They may be of little importance to the bulk of ordinary users, but will surely be helpful to developers and sufficiently skilled tinkerers who may want to push their devices to the limits of their capabilities. The kernel source codes are important details that help developers build custom kernels and ROMS for the device.Redmi Note 11 kernel source code

The Redmi Note 11 series has three models on its lineup, namely Redmi Note 11, Redmi Note 11 Pro, and Redmi Note 11 Pro+. With the launch of the products in China, other markets including India, are primed for the release of the products obviously with some variation and possibly additional accessories. It is also speculated that the Redmi Note 11 and the Redmi Note 11 Pro could be called the Xiaomi 11i and Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge respectively in India.

While the Redmi Note 11 sports a MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset, the two other models are powered by the more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 920 chip. The kernel source codes could indeed help developers explore how much performance improvement could be gotten from the MediaTek Dimensity chipset through custom ROM. Pricing and global availability details for the new lineup of the Xiaomi Note 11 series are awaited with much expectation. The coming days will give greater illumination to these details.

Vivo V23e (V2116) hits GeekBench packing an Helio A22 SoC, 8GB RAM

Vivo‘s upcoming smartphone under the V-series has been in the news quite often lately. The model known as Vivo V23e has now appeared on the database of benchmark app GeekBench.Vivo V23eThe Vivo bears the model number V2116 which has a history dating back to July when it first appeared on the IMEI database listed as Vivo V23e. The V2116 also appeared at Bluetooth SIG in September. That isn’t all, just a few days back, a hands-on video of the model appeared online giving us our first look at the device.

Coming to the GeekBench listing, the device is listed with a MediaTek Helio A22 chipset paired with a staggering 8GB RAM. It will run on the Android 11 operating system which will likely have a touch of Funtouch OS 12.  The device polled a total score of 473 points on the single-core test and 1,668 points on the multi-core test. The GeekBench listing, as usual, isn’t generous with details of the model. Also, the specs and Geekbench scores don’t match up so we’ll take this with some doubt.Vivo V23e front

The earlier leaked video shows the device will pack a triple 64MP camera setup at the rear while the selfie aspect will be piloted by a 50MP front camera. The device will also be powered by a 4,030 mAh battery with 44W charging.

Redmi Note 11 to launch in India as Redmi Note 11T 5G

A few days back, we learned that the Redmi Note 11 Pro models will come to India under Xiaomi branding. Today, the same source reveals that the vanilla Redmi Note 11 will retain the Redmi branding for Xiaomi’s largest market outside its home country.

Redmi Note 11

According to reliable MIUI tipster Kacper Skrzypek (@kacskrz), Xiaomi might launch the Chinese Redmi Note 11 in India as Redmi Note 11T 5G. Since this piece of information comes from MIUI code, it will be most likely true.

The strings shared by the leaker reveal that the Redmi Note 11 is codenamed evergo, while the yet-to-release POCO M4 Pro 5G bears codename evergreen. We learned about these devices back in August. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 10T 5G, which is expected to debut in India is codenamed evergoin.

As mentioned in the beginning, the Redmi Note 10 Pro and the Redmi Note 10 Pro+ are also anticipated to go official in India. These phones will be called Xiaomi 11i and Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge in the country.

This suggests that India may get different Redmi Note 11 Pro handsets. Unfortunately, no information is available regarding these devices. But we expect to learn about them in the coming days.

At present, it’s not known when the three Redmi Note 11 smartphones from China will make their way to India.

Geely’s EV brand ‘Geometry’ reportedly planning to integrate HarmonyOS on its cars

Huawei‘s HarmonyOS is about finding a new home if the latest report from China is anything to go by. Sources familiar with the matter have revealed that carmaker Geely’s Geometry is planning to utilize the HarmonyOS for the next five years.Geely GEometry HarmonyOS

Geometry is Geely’s independent pure electric sub-brand focused on the manufacture of sedans, SUVs, and others. The plan will see the cars get powered with HarmonyOS just like the Arcfox Alpha S co-developed by BAIC and Huawei. The HarmonyOS-powered electric car is expected to start shipping in Q4 2021.

There is no official word from both Huawei and Geely regarding this rumor but it won’t be surprising if it ends up happening. Apart from the partnership with BAIC, Huawei is developing the HarmonyOS as a cross-platform operating system that will integrate seamlessly across different platforms. Since the US ban which crippled its smartphone business, the Chinese tech giant has been looking at various ways of expanding its business. One of such is an increased focus on the automobile industry.

The company earlier this year, announced a partnership with BYD to integrate the BYD Han with the Huawei Mobile Service for cars. The HMS for cars is also installed on the 2021 Mercedes Benz S-Class in the Chinese market.

ITHome reports several Huawei insiders to have hinted that they have not heard of such plans. The Chinese blog also disclosed that Huawei officials did not respond to requests for comments about the rumor.

Redmi Note 11 Pro+ Hands-on: Brings 120W Charging and a Better Display

One of the biggest launches last month was the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ in China. The Redmi Note series has always been extremely popular among the young generation, and the latest lineup continues to bring forth impressive upgrades without a significant increase in the overall pricing. A highlight upgrade in the top-end model in the series, the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus, turned out to be a flagship exclusive feature until now — 120W HyperCharge support. But there are a lot of other features to be excited about the new Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus.

Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus review:

Let’s take a quick look at the phone in our Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus hands-on.

Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus review featured 4

The Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus comes with a familiar design, especially when you look at its camera module. However, on closer inspection, you would realize that it’s not exactly the same design as the previous generation model. The camera module gets larger sensors and their numbers have increased too. But overall, you get the same Redmi Note series vibe as its predecessors.

Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus review back design camera

The new Redmi model is flatter at the back much like the iPhone models but of course, it doesn’t feel as premium. The back is made out of AG frosted glass and has a better hands-on feel than the Redmi Note 10 Pro.

The Note 11 Pro Plus has also been upgraded in terms of functionality. It is not only equipped with NFC, IR blaster, and stereo dual speakers but also features an X-axis linear motor and a 3.5mm headphone jack. And the SIM tray also supports MicroSD card. In terms of design and functionality, the Note 11 Pro Plus is indeed an upgrade compared to the 10 Pro.

Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus review featured 2

The Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus gets a new Samsung AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate, one of the best in its price range. We tried playing an HDR video and the overall experience is an upgrade to its predecessor with excellent contrasts. However, instead of the latest generation of Corning Gorilla Victus Glass found on the 10 Pro, you now get a Corning Gorilla Glass. At first glance, we wouldn’t say this display is perfect, but it’s a really good screen for a phone that’s affordable.

Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus review unboxing 2

The JBL stereo speakers also sound good for a phone in this price range. And of course, 120W charging will ensure juicing up your phone will never be an issue. It takes just 10 minutes to charge to 76%, which practically should give you a day’s worth of usage.

We’ll take a closer look into the phone’s performance, battery, and of course the cameras in our in-depth review soon. But for now, enjoy the hands-on images of the Redmi Note 11 Pro down below.

If you have any specific questions or features that you would like us to test out, feel free to share them in the comments.

By the way, in case you missed it, we are giving away one Redmi Note 11 Pro phone to a lucky Gizmochina reader. You can participate from the widget down below.

DJI’s new Action 2 camera overheats & there’s no fix yet in Europe & the UK

Last week, renowned Chinese drone maker DJI launched a portable action camera dubbed DJI Action 2 camera. The camera was a successor of the Osmo Action camera and is positioned to take on the GoPro Hero 10 Black.DJI Action 2 camera

The DJI Action 2 adopts a portable modular design. The camera itself measures just 39mm square and 22mm deep. The compact design meant the internal components are crammed into a smallish form factor. That itself may have created an issue that users may face unless a software update is pushed soon.

YouTuber Geeksvana has shared a video where he reviewed the Action 2 camera. The YouTuber revealed that the camera’s capabilities are somewhat limited in Europe and the UK. This is due to some inherent regulatory bottlenecks in these regions. As a result, the camera can become extremely hot when it is used for video recording at high frame rates and resolutions. The review shows the camera started overheating after 3 minutes when it is used at 4K/120 FPS while at 4K/30 FPS, it became hot in less than 6 minutes.

Ordinarily, the DJI Action 2 features a ‘High-Temperature Mode’ which effectively deals with this issue but due to regulatory restrictions, DJI is unable to activate this mode on the models shipping to the EU and UK. The regulations are enacted to protect the consumers, though.

We have no idea how DJI will resolve this issue for the affected region. You would want to have this at the back of your mind when shopping for the Action 2 camera if you are in the UK or EU.

To recall, the DJI Action 2 features a 12MP lens with a 155-degree FOV. The camera is capable of recording 4K videos. It equally sports a 1.76-inch OLED touchscreen protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. The modular design makes it possible to mount a second screen as well as add the DJI mic or other third-party products to the device.

The Action 2 carries an entry price tag of $399. You wouldn’t want to shell out this amount for a camera that can record for up to 30 minutes without heating up.
