Honor has just officially announced that it has opened its global headquarters in Shenzhen, China. The company shared the news earlier today (30th August 2021) as various centers for R&D also move in to the new location.

The brand made the announcement on its official Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website, which also shared images of the new global headquarters. Furthermore, the Chinese smartphone maker also stated that the new site will house high quality hardware facilities, along with sophisticated laboratory equipment and a diverse office atmosphere that would help the company and its team grow. As of right now, the research and developments centers from regions like Beijing, Xi’an, Nanjing, and others have moved to the new location as well.

The company added that the brand new atmosphere will also enable Honor to offer the ultimate product experience to its customers through technological innovation. For those unaware, the headquarters is located in the Futian District in Shenzhen and has a total size of 350,000 square meters and a total area of 39,000 square meters. Notably, it is also just 12 kilometers away from the headquarters of Huawei, its former parent company.

Back in November 2020, the company had sold Honor to ensure its survival and since then the brand has operated independently from Huawei. Now, the opening of a new global headquarters marks an important step towards its efforts to grow further in its home country and even the overseas market as well.

All smartphones use lithium-ion batteries. It’s a known fact that these batteries degrade over time when they are charged up to 100% regularly. Hence, OEMs offer software solutions to slow the degradation. Samsung only used to offer such a feature on its tablets. With the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip3 and the Galaxy Z Fold3, this feature has now made its way to its smartphones as well.

The Device Care application on the Samsung Galaxy products is responsible for battery, storage, memory, security, and mobile data usage-related settings. This app is equivalent to the MIUI Security application on the Xiaomi group devices.

Under the Battery section, the app has a feature called Protect Battery on the Galaxy Tab series of tablets. Turning this on will limit the charging to 85%. It can help in extending the battery life over the years.

As per SamMobile, this ‘Protect Battery’ feature is now also available on the new Galaxy Z Flip3 and the Galaxy Z Fold3. They are the first smartphones from Samsung to come with this feature.

At present, it is not known whether this feature will be made available for other Galaxy smartphones. Because it did not get added on the Galaxy S21 series with the latest so-called One UI 3.1.1 update. Hopefully, Samsung brings ‘Protect Battery’ to its phones as most other OEMs offer a similar feature on their handsets.

Xiaomi applies for Dinosaur graphic trademark, could be the Redmi K50 mascot

Xiaomi has recently applied for a new graphic trademark for what appears to be a Dinosaur. This trademark could be the new mascot for the upcoming Redmi K50 series of smartphones.

For those unaware, the company had previously unveiled the Redmi K20 series, which had a mascot dubbed the “Big Devil” dinosaur. Now, it appears that the company might be bringing back the dinosaur mascot again for the upcoming K50 lineup as well. According to a MyDrivers report, the Chinese tech giant has just applied for a new graphic trademark, which is for a small dinosaur. The trademark has an international classification and is expected to be used for smartphones and related accessories as well, like smartphones cases and more.

Notably, the new little dinosaur logo that the company has trademarked is different from the two mascots that it has used for the Redmi K series of smartphones in the past. While the K20 and K30 lineup arrived with a dinosaur and dragon mascot respectively, the K40 series did not follow this tradition. But it might be revived for the K50’s launch and could even serve as the exclusive logo for the new lineup.

While the company has yet to officially reveal details regarding the new K50 series, we had recently reported on new tips for leaksters on Weibo, which revealed certain details of the Redmi K50. As per the tipster, the Redmi K50 series will launch in two variants, with one featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, while the other will sport the next gen Snapdragon 898 processor.

Starting from today (30th August 2021), Realme has officially raised the prices for a dozen smartphone models in India. The price hike arrives as other brands also raise their offerings’ price tags in the region due to component shortages.

The news was first shared by known tipster Abhishek Yadav on Twitter. In the Twitter thread, he shared the new prices of a number of smartphones along with the total rise in cost as well. The list of smartphones includes multiple C series of smartphones along with the Realme 8 lineup. Taking a look at the C series pricing first:

C11 – 2021 model with 2+32GB now costs ₹7,299 ($100), price hike of ₹300
C11 – 2021 model with 4+64GB now costs ₹8,799 ($120), price hike of ₹300
C21 – 3+32GB now costs ₹8,999 ($123), price hike of ₹500
C21 – 4+64GB now costs ₹9,999 ($136), price hike of ₹500
C25s – G85 4+64GB now costs ₹10,999 ($150), price hike of ₹500
C25s – G85 4+128GB now costs ₹11999 ($164), price hike of ₹500

Arriving at the Realme 8 lineup, the 4G variant with 6+128GB is now priced at ₹16,999 ($232), marking increase of ₹1,000. This hike in price is consistent with the entire lineup as the 4G variant with 8+128GB also now costs ₹17,999 ($245). Its 5G variant with 4+64GB now goes for ₹15,499 ($211) . Similarly, the 5G variant with 4+128GB and 8+128GB models now cost ₹16,499 ($225) and ₹18,499 ($252) respectively as well.

Notably, this isn’t the first time the brand hiked the pricing in India. For those unaware, the rise of prices arrives due to a shortage of components or rise in costs of certain parts. Other brands like Redmi, Micromax, Samsung and others, have also raised the prices of their smartphone offerings due to this ongoing issue.

Alleged realme Note series might soon take on the Redmi Note series

Xiaomi is popular for its Redmi Note series of budget smartphones worldwide. These devices offer a good set of features at an affordable price. The realme number series phones have been their prime competitor for the past few years. Looks like this may change as realme might soon debut the realme Note series.

The sister brand of OPPO and OnePlus is gearing up to launch its next batch of budget smartphones with realme 9 and realme narzo 50 brandings. As per multiple reports, there will be more models in the lineup than ever before. Looks like the company is mimicking Xiaomi’s approach.

In addition to these handsets, the brand may also introduce the realme Note 9 series consisting of realme Note 9 and realme Note 9 Prime. These two devices are listed in the import database. Apart from their names, we know nothing about these phones. It’s not sure if these products are even real.

However, it is worth noting that a couple of days back, four realme 9 series handsets were also spotted in the same database, namely realme 9, realme 9 Pro, realme 9 Prime, and realme 9A. Hence, the realme Note series could probably exist.

Nubia teases Red Magic 6S Pro, will sport aerospace level heat management tech

Earlier today (30th August 2021), Nubia shared a new teaser for its upcoming Red Magic 6S Pro gaming smartphone. In the new teaser, the company showcases the device’s advanced heat dissipation system that will help keep thermals in checkThe Chinese smartphone maker shared the teaser on its official Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website. In the social media post, the brand shared two image posters that highlighted two key components of its thermal management system. The first was aerospace level heat dissipation black technology, which is basically a unique aviation grade aluminum that is used in a surface of up to 18,000 square millimeters inside the handset that helps reduce the CPU’s core temperature by 16 degrees Celsius and even reduce the temperature of the smartphone’s body as well.

Furthermore, the second major component of the thermal management system includes its built in turbo cooling fan. This fan spins with a speed of up to 20,000 RPM. Although, since it is powered by a brushless motor, the company assures that the maximum noise levels from this fan would only be 28 decibels. Previously, Nubia had also revealed that its latest smartphone will feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC along with 165Hz refresh rate. A new OnePlus smartphone with model number MT2111 model number has received approval from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The BIS listing (via) has no information on the specs of the device. The OnePlus 9 RT flagship is rumored to debut in India in October. Hence, it is likely that the MT2111 OnePlus handset could be the upcoming OnePlus 9 RT smartphone.

OnePlus is also speculated to launch some Nord branded phones with modest specs. Hence, it is advisable to wait for further reports to known whether the MT2111 smartphone is the OnePlus 9 RT or a Nord series device.

OnePlus 9 RT specifications

Recent reports have revealed that the OnePlus 9 RT will be an updated version of the OnePlus 9R flagship phone that debuted earlier this year. The 9 RT is expected to feature a 6.55-inch AMOLED display that will offer a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen will come integrated with a fingerprint scanner.

The Snapdragon 870 chipset is present under the hood of the OnePlus 9 RT. It has 8 GB / 12 G of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device houses a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging.

The OnePlus 9 RT will come with a front camera of 16-megapixel. Its rear camera setup will include a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary camera, a 16-megapixel secondary lens, and a 2-megapixel camera. Contradictory reports suggest that it will continue to sport a quad camera system. Lastly, the device will come equipped with OxygenOS 12 UI-based Android 11 OS.

Last week, 91mobiles shared a leaked render of the upcoming Realme Narzo 50A smartphone. A new tweet by reliable tipster Mukul Sharma (aka. stufflistings) reveals that the company will be soon announcing another Narzo 50 series phone called the Narzo 50i in India. The tipster has revealed that the variants and color options of the Narzo 50i.

The tipster further revealed that the Narzo 50i will be arriving in India soon in variants like 2 GB RAM + 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage. The company revealed that the smartphone will be available in two colors such as Mint Green and Carbon Black. The other details of the smartphone are under wraps.

As far as the Realme Narzo 50A smartphone is concerned, its leaked renders revealed that it will be sporting a waterdrop notch screen. Its uniquely designed rear shell has a triple camera unit with an LED flash and a fingerprint scanner.

The bottom edge of the device features a 3.5mm audio jack, a ai, a USB-C port, and a speaker grille. Its right edge has a volume rocker and a power key. Unfortunately, there is no information available on the specs of the device.

Lenovo has launched a new entry-level smartphone in its K-series of smartphones in Russia. The phone, dubbed Lenovo K13, is a step back from the K12 smartphone launched last year, in terms of specifications.

The smartphone features a 6.52-inch IPS LCD display that offers HD+ screen resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels and a regular 60Hz refresh rate. There’s also a waterdrop notch on top of the display that houses a 5-megapixel selfie snapper.

On the backside, the device features a dual-camera setup that includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. There’s also a fingerprint sensor mounted on the back panel for added security.

Under the hood, the Lenovo K13 is powered by the Unisoc SC9863A chipset which has an octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz. The device comes packed with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

It also comes with a microSD card slot for further expanding the storage capacity. In comparison, the K12 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 SoC, packing 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

There’s a usual set of connectivity options, including 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS. The phone runs the Android operating system out-of-the-box and is powered by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W charging.

The Lenovo K12 is available for purchase in Russia in just one color — Blue. It carries an affordable price tag of RUB7,777 which roughly converts to $106.

Earlier this month, Google unveiled its flagship Pixel series smartphones — Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, which will come with a revamped design and its own Tensor chipset. However, the company has not yet announced the launch date for these smartphones.

While the official launch date still remains unknown, a new report claims that Google could launch the Pixel 6 series smartphones on 13th September. That’s a day before Apple is expected to make the iPhone 13 series phones official.

The company has already confirmed that the upcoming Pixel 6 lineup will be made available for purchase this fall. Recently, Google discontinued its Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G smartphones that were launched last year.

So far, Google has revealed some key details about the smartphones even though the full specifications sheet hasn’t been shared. The Pixel 6 comes with a 6.4-inch Full HD+ display offering a 90Hz refresh rate while the Pro model has a 6.7-inch QHD+ display offering a 120Hz refresh rate.

The standard model features a dual-camera setup on the back while the Pixel 6 Pro has a triple-camera setup — a wide-angle lens, an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 4x telephoto lens. This time, the photography performance could top the charts given that the chipset is said to be focused on photo output and use artificial intelligence and machine learning.

The highlight of the Pixel 6 series remains its processor as they will come powered by Google’s own chipset — Tensor, which is made especially for Pixel devices. Apart from on-device AI and ML capability, the chip is also claimed to have significant improvement in translation, captioning, and dictation. The chipset is likely to be an unreleased Samsung Exynos 9855 SoC.

There are lots of smartphone launch events planned around mid-September. The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is expected to get launched on 8th September and then Google is said to be set to launch the Pixel 6 lineup on 13th September. Just a day after that, Apple is likely to launch its iPhone 13 series smartphones. However, none of these launch events have been officially confirmed by the respective companies, but we expect an official announcement from the firms in the coming days.

Vivo has confirmed today that it will be announcing the Vivo X70 series of smartphones in China at 7:30 PM (local time) on Sept. 9. It can be said based on recent reports that the series will include three smartphones such as the Vivo X70, Vivo X70 Pro, and X70 Pro+. The Chinese manufacturer has shared some images of the Pro+ to reveal its design.

The official renders show that the Vivo X70 Pro+ will be available in black and orange color variants. Like the predecessor X60 Pro+, the orange edition of the successor model seems to be equipped with a leather back.

At the front, it features a punch-hole display with curved edges. Coming back to the renders, a quad-camera setup featuring a periscope zoom lens can be seen on the rear shell of the device. The quad cameras are assisted by a triple-LED flash unit and laser autofocus. A black-colored vacant portion can be seen on the right side of the quad-camera system.

Reports have revealed that it features a 6.7-inch AMOLED FHD+ display that offers an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The Google Play Console listing of the phone has revealed that the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform. Past reports have revealed that it may come with other specs like 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of internal storage, and 65W fast charging.

Reports surrounding the Vivo X70 and X70 Pro smartphones have revealed that these phones will come equipped with specs like a 6.56-inch AMOLED 120Hz display, Exynos 1080, and 44W fast charging. The global editions of the X70 and X70 Pro are likely to be fueled by the Dimensity 1200 chipset. The X70 series is expected to impress in the photography department as it will be arriving with the company’s self-developed Vivo V1 ISP.

Last year, Apple launched the iPhone 12 series smartphones a bit later than its usual timeline because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, the Cupertino-based technology giant is expected to stick to its schedule for the iPhone 13 series.

While the company has not yet announced the launch date for the next generation of the Apple iPhone series, rumors indicate that the devices could be launched in the third week of September. But a new report now claims that Apple is set to launch the iPhone 13 series smartphones on 14th September.

If that is indeed true, then the Tim Cook-led company could soon announce its launch event, probably in the next few days. Along with the next-generation iPhone, the company will also be launching the Apple Watch Series 7 models at the same event.

The report further adds that after getting announced on 14th September, the smartphone will be available for purchase from 24th September. This time, Apple will be selling four models at the same time — iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max.

A recent report claimed that Apple is likely to increase the price of the upcoming iPhone 13 series models due to the price hike in components. Recently, TSMC confirmed that it will be increasing its pricing by up to 20 percent. However, the majority of the reports indicate that the pricing of the iPhone 13 models is likely to be the same as the iPhone 12 models.

Foxconn, one of the largest suppliers and contract manufacturers for Apple, has reportedly started fast-track recruitment for 200,000 members and is aiming to fill the vacancy by the end of September 2021. Notably, the large facility can house as many as 350,000 assembly line workers and produce up to 500,000 smartphones a day.

The Apple iPhone 13 lineup is expected to come with a slightly smaller notch and a 120Hz refresh rate in the Pro variants. It is also being reiterated that the company will also be offering a 1TB internal storage model this time.

It is also claimed to have support for mmWave 5G for countries outside of the United States. The phones are said to come with space-saving internal circuitry, which should allow the company to offer a larger battery inside the device.

The new iPhones will come with support for 25W fast charging technology, a slight upgrade from the current 22W charging. It is also expected to come with a LiDAR scanner. The upcoming flagship smartphone series from Apple will come with notable hardware upgrades. It points out to a faster and more power-efficient A15 Bionic chipset manufactured using TSMC’s 5nm+ process.

Apple is gearing up to launch its next-generation iPhone 13 series smartphones next month but even before the official launch takes place, details related to the next year’s iPhone 14 series have been making rounds.

It is speculated that the Apple iPhone 14 lineup could come powered by the 3nm chipset manufactured by TSMC. However, the latest report indicates that may not be the case as the Taiwan-based manufacturer is facing delays.

Apple iPhone 12 Featured — Apple iPhone 12

The report claims that TSMC has confirmed that its 3nm process, known as N3, has been delayed for mass-production by about 3-4 months. This means that the iPhone 14 lineup will miss the chipset (possibly named Apple A16 Bionic) manufactured using the 3nm process and instead will pack a processor made using the N4 process.

Previously, it was reported that Apple has already placed orders for the 4nm chip with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company and is set to go into production in the fourth quarter of this year.

Not only that, the Cupertino-based tech giant has already booked the majority of TSMC’s capacity for the production of 3nm chips over chip giant Intel. The 3nm chips are likely to go into production in the second half of next year and were expected to be powering the next-generation iPhone 14 series phones.

Similarly, Samsung is also reportedly facing production issues related to the 3nm chip and thus, its flagship smartphones getting launched next year could also come packed with the 4nm chipset and same will be the fate of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 given that the company is reliant on TSMC and Samsung for manufacturing.

Apple is all set to launch the iPhone 13 series smartphones in the market, possibly in the third week of September but the company has not yet revealed the launch date. All four models in the lineup — iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max are expected to come powered by the Apple A15 Bionic chipset manufactured using 5nm+ process by TSMC.

Last week, Samsung released the first teaser of the Galaxy A52s 5G for India. It confirmed on Saturday that the smartphone will go official at 12 PM (local time) in the country. Ahead of the launch, a couple of listings of the Galaxy A52s 5G is now available on Amazon India. The listings allow users to add the phone to the cart and make payment.

There seems to be some problem with Galaxy A52s 5G’s Amazon listings as its 6 GB RAM variant is listed for Rs 38,999 (~$530), whereas its 8 GB RAM edition is listed with a lower price of Rs 35,999 (~$490). Hence, readers are recommended not to order the device now and wait for its official announcement.

Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G specifications

The Galaxy A52s 5G is an IP67 certified smartphone featuring a 6.5-inch S-AMOLED display. The punch-hole screen delivers a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It runs on One UI 3.1 based on Android 11 OS.

The A52s 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 778G chipset and 6 GB / 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM. Both RAM variants are expected to arrive with 128 GB of storage in India. It has a shared SIM slot for adding a microSD card.

It has a front camera of 32-megapixel, and its rear shell has a 64-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 5-megapixel macro camera, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The device is backed by a 4,500mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging. Samsung has confirmed that it will be available in three colors such as Awesome Black, Awesome White, and Awesome Violet in India.
