Official Xiaomi Mix 4 unboxing video illuminates Xiaomi’s latest flagship

When Xiaomi announced the Mix 4 last week, the under-display camera, aptly named Camera Under Panel (CUP) emerged as one of the surprised highlights of the full-screen smartphone. The absence of a cutout in the front display implied that Mix 4 offers a full-screen picture and video experience when using the front camera.Xiaomi MIX 4

Now, Xiaomi had provided further illumination to the Mix 4 by publishing an official unboxing video for the flagship model. The unboxing video further provides some fine details about the Xiaomi Mix 4.

The smartphone comes in a large box that includes a 120W charger and a charging cable. The 55-second video showed several angles of the smartphone revealing a sleek design and minimal bezels. Some views of the 6.67-inch AMOLED screen, with a 20MP front camera, were captured in the unboxing video.

The Xiaomi Mix 4 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ chipset and offers up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, with also an 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage available. The Mix 4 has a 4,500mAh battery and can be charged via 120W wired charging or 50W fast charging. There is also the boost mode which can fully charge a depleted battery in under 15 minutes. On the other hand, the wireless charger will fully charge a depleted battery in under 30 minutes.

The Xiaomi Mix 4 is selling at 4,999 yuan ($770) in China and other markets are expected to follow suit subsequently, although no details on the global availability and pricing of the device are available at this time.

Apple Watch Series 7 CAD renders leaked ahead of rumored September launch

Apple Watch 7 series is expected to go official in September alongside the iPhone 13 series. While nothing much is known about the Watch Series 7, 91mobiles has shared the CAD renders to reveal what to expect from it.

Earlier in May, tipster Jon Prosser had shared renders of the Apple Watch 7 series. The new renders shared by the publication are in line with the images shared by Prosser. The new renders show that the Watch 7 will continue to sport a square-shaped dial.

Instead of rounded edges, the Watch 7 will be a flaunting flat-edged design. The renders suggest that it will offer a boxy design like the iPhone 12 series and the recent iPads. The renders further show that it has flat sides and a curvy frame like the predecessor models.

The Watch 7 is likely to feature a user-replaceable silicone strap. The right edge of the device has a crown and a flat selection button. Its left spine has a pair of slits for speakers. The rear side of the device seemingly features some sensors including a heart-rate sensor.

The publication further revealed that the Apple Watch Series 7 will come in a 44mm size that measures 44 x 38 x 9mm and it will house a 1.8-inch display. It could be featuring a new display with slimmer bezels. The Watch 7 series is also expected to offer enhanced health-tracking sensors. Some rumors surrounding the next generation Apple smartwatch claim that it will feature a new lamination technique that will bring the display nearer to the front cover and it will carry support for ultrawideband (UWB) connectivity.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 has an Exclusive Feature called Smart Charging

Xiaomi unveiled the Mi Mix 4 last week in China with impressive specs like Snapdragon 888+ SoC, 108MP cameras, and 50W wireless charging. Today, Xiaomi has revealed that the flagship phone comes with another impressive feature called Smart Charging which protects the phone’s battery from getting damaged while charging excessively.

A couple of months back, Xiaomi was seen testing a feature called MIUI Battery Health Indicator which evidently showed the estimated health status of the battery. The feature was similar to Apple’s Battery health feature and was first rolled out to the Redmi Note 10. Now, the new Smart Charging feature is an addition to the previous battery feature, but it is currently exclusive to the newly launched Mi Mix 4.

According to Xiaomi, the feature will intelligently learn the daily charging habits of the Mi Mix 4 and timely behavior of charging and discharging. Based on long-term data, the feature will regulate the battery and hence improving the battery health.

Practically, when the feature is turned on from the settings, it will learn the charging time at night and discharging time in the morning through AI. This function will therefore allow the device to charge comfortably at night, and as soon as it’s time to wake up, it will intentionally transmit the charge, ensuring that it is fully juiced up in the morning. In a long run, the Smart Charging feature will save the battery from aging quickly.

The Mi Mix 4 comes with a 6.67-inch 3D curved AMOLED display. It has a triple rear camera system with a 108MP main sensor, an 8MP periscope lens, and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera unit. It comes powered by Snapdragon 888+ SoC coupled with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage. It packs a 4,500mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless fast charging support.

Apple starts selling refurbished 24-inch iMac in the UK

Apple launched its new 24-inch iMac in April this year and now just a few months later, the Cupertino-based tech giant has started selling a refurbished version of the same through its own Apple Store in the UK.

Currently, it seems that there’s only one model available for purchase that too in Pink color option. The device packs an 8-core CPU, 7-core GPU, and 256GB SSD and is priced at £1,059. This represents a saving of £190.00 over the standard price of £1,249.

The new iMac
New 24-inch Apple iMac

We expect additional models to be available for purchase in near future. If you are unaware, the stock for the refurbished models varies based on what people have sent in for repair or replacement. If you are looking to purchase a refurbished version of a particular model, then you will need to keep an eye on the store for its availability.

Apple is selling a refurbished version of its Mac devices with a one-year warranty — the same as what the company offers with the purchase of a new model. The company also ensures all the manuals and accessories, including a USB-C power adapter and cable.

The new 24-inch iMac features a 24-inch 4.5K Retina Display with support for 1 billion colors. It has True Tone technology which it uses to automatically adjust the color temperature based on your environment.

It is powered by Apple Silicon‘s M1 chipset and comes in two versions — one with an 8-core CPU and a 7-core GPU and another with an 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU. The base model packs 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage which can be expanded up to 16GB of RAM and 2TB of SSD storage.

Apple M1 chipset is the first from the technology giant for its Mac devices under Apple Silicon. The company is now working on an upgraded chipset, which is likely to be called M1X and there are already reports about Mac devices powered by the same. It’s likely that the upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models could become the first devices to be powered by the Apple M1X chipset. To know for sure, we’ll not have to wait longer as the laptops are expected to launch in the coming weeks.

Huawei might start selling third-party smartphones in its offline stores

Huawei might start selling smartphones from other manufacturers in its offline stores. According to a Weibo post, a smartphone codenamed Monica is launching this month which will be going on sale in different Huawei retail stores.

The Monica is expected to be available on offline Huawei stores starting August 20. However, it is still uncertain if this is a Huawei model or a phone from another brand. Also, there’s no word available on the specifications and pricing of this smartphone.

Huawei recently launched the P50 series, and there’s no news of the company launching any other smartphone for a while now. So we can speculate that Huawei is planning to partner with other brands to showcase their products in its store and even sell them.

Source: Weibo

There is another possibility that this Monica smartphone could have been developed in partnership with Huawei. The smartphone could be using some component from Huawei technologies, or it could run Harmony OS. If the phone is indeed running on Huawei’s HarmonyOS, it kind of makes sense on why Huawei will be selling third-party smartphones in its retail stores.

Another tipster hinted that three new products are scheduled to launch that might be sold through Huawei’s retail network. The tipster suggests that third-party operators and small vendors make these products. Also, we don’t know what these three products will be, so we might have to wait for an official announcement.

Huawei recently launched its P50 flagship duo, and now the P50 smartphones are available in offline retail stores. Customers can visit the stores and experience the new smartphones. The Huawei P50 and P50 Pro come with upgraded displays, two chipsets, and an improved camera. A company representative recently revealed that the new series would be available globally. Huawei has started shipping out the P50 units starting August 12 in China.

Apple iPhone 13 to reportedly launch in the third week of September

Last year, Apple launched the iPhone 12 lineup a bit later, in the month of October because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But this time, the company is sticking to its usual timeframe and the next-generation iPhone series will get launched in September, i.e. next month.

A new report from MacRumors, which cites an investor note by Daniel Ives of Wedbush claims that Apple is set to officially launch the iPhone 13 series in the third week of September but the exact date is not yet known.

Apple iPhone 13 to bring Potrait Mode and ProRes for videos

However, Apple typically hosts the launch event on Tuesday and we expect the company to continue the trend. This means that the launch event could take place on 21st September. Even if the new report turns out to be untrue, then Apple could launch the iPhone 13 lineup on 7th September or 14th September.

In the same report, it is said that Daniel Ives is expecting Apple to manufacture between 130 million to 150 million units of its next-generation iPhone by the end of this year and about 35 percent to 45 percent will be built in Q3 2021.

Design-wise, the Apple iPhone 13 lineup is expected to come with a slightly smaller notch and will have a 120Hz refresh rate. Notably, the higher refresh rate is expected only in the Pro variants. It is also being reiterated that the company will also be offering a 1TB internal storage model this time.

It is also claimed to have support for mmWave 5G for countries outside of the United States. The phones are said to come with the space-saving internal circuitry, which should allow the company to offer a larger battery inside the device.

A recent report claims that the new iPhones will come with support for 25W fast charging technology, a slight upgrade from the current 22W charging. It is also expected to come with a LiDAR scanner.

The upcoming flagship smartphone series from Apple will come with notable hardware upgrades. It points out to a faster and more power-efficient chipset manufactured using a 5nm+ process, which is presumably the upcoming Apple A15 Bionic.

OPPO K9 Pro likely to launch soon as rebranded Realme GT Neo

Recently, a new OPPO phone with PEYM00 model number was approved by the TENAA authority of China. The images of the phone that have appeared at the Chinese certification site revealed that it will be arriving as a K-series phone. A tipster has claimed that it will be a rebranded version of an existing Realme phone.

According to the tipster, the OPPO PEYM00 will be releasing in the market with the OPPO K9 Pro moniker. The rear image of the phone reveals that the “09-K Pro,” which further indicates that it will be a Pro version of the OPPO K9 that debuted in May in China.

OPPO K9 Pro TENAA

The tipster has claimed it will be rebranded version of the Realme GT Neo. It is known through its TENAA listing that it has a 6.43-inch AMOLED FHD+ display, a 3.0GHz octa-core processor (could be Dimensity 1200), 8 GB / 12 GB of RAM, 128 GB / 256 GB of storage, and a 4,400mAh battery that seemingly supports 65W fast charging. It has a front camera of 32-megapixel, and its back panel has a 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera unit.

These specs of the OPPO K9 Pro indicate that it will be a rebadged GT Neo. OPPO and Realme are unlikely to sell two phones with identical specs at the same time. It was found at the time of writing this post that the Realme GT Neo is no longer available for purchase in China. This indicates that the K9 Pro will be launching soon. Probably, Realme has no plans to sell the GT Neo again.

Realme GT Neo 5G out of stock

A couple of OPPO and Realme phones such as the PECM20 OPPO phone, OPPO’s Dimensity 810 powered phone, Realme RMX3381, and Realme RMX3125 have recently received TENAA certification and are expected to go official in China. Probably, some of these phones will go official this month.

That is the main reason why a lot of people will have a hard time trying to understand which one to buy. Is it better to save some money for the vanilla version or spending more for the Pro variant makes more sense? We hope that this comparison between the two tablets will clear your ideas in regards. Given that they are similar tablets, the comparison will be mainly focused on the differences between them rather than which one is better or worse.

Design

Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro have exactly the same design. It includes flat borders just like the latest iPads, a very high screen to body ratio with a display covering more than 80% of the front panel, and a plastic unibody design unlike most of the premium tablets. They are very thin with a thickness of just 6.9 mm and they are also pretty lightweight. Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and 5 Pro support the pen and a magnetic keyboard, and they have a camera module that is aesthetically similar to those of the Mi 11 series. Despite they are not the most expensive tablets, they are definitely among the most beautiful ones and Xiaomi paid a lot of attention to their design.

Display

Just like the design, even the displays of these two tablets are exactly the same. A lot of people will hate the fact that they sport IPS panels: with these displays, you do not get the vivid colors provided by OLED panels. But they are amazing IPS panels and not average ones. They are able to show up to one billion colors with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, the HDR10 certification, and Dolby Vision support. The diagonal of the display is 11 inches, good for productivity but not excessively wide. If you use the keyboard, you can transform these tablets into mini laptops.

Specs & Software

The most important difference between the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and the Mi Pad 5 Pro in terms of hardware is not the performance, but the connectivity. The Pro variant comes in a configuration with 5G connectivity included and a SIM slot, while the vanilla Mi Pad 5 does not have 4G nor 5G connectivity at all. However, there is an important difference between their components as well. The vanilla version is equipped with a Snapdragon 860 chipset which is a high-end SoC, but it is inferior to the Snapdragon 865. With the Pro version, you get a Snapdragon 870 which is actually an upgrade of the Snapdragon 865, as well as 8 GB of RAM in the most expensive configuration (instead of just 6 GB provided by the vanilla version). The tablets run Android 11 customized by MIUI 12.5.

Camera

The 5G variant of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro is one of the best camera tablets in the market. It has a 50 MP main camera which is able to capture stunning shots in terms of detail and it can also record 4K videos. The 50 MP sensor is paired with a secondary 5 MP depth sensor useful for a better bokeh effect. The non-5G variants of the Mi Pad 5 Pro have a 13 MP main sensor which is way inferior to the above-mentioned 50 MP camera, always paired with a 5 MP depth sensor. The original Mi Pad 5 has a 13 MP camera as well, but it lacks a 5 MP depth sensor. Both the tablets have an 8 MP front camera which records 1080p videos.

Battery

Despite it is the lower-end model, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 has a slightly bigger battery with a capacity of 8720 mAh. But it is not a huge difference, so you do not get a huge boost in terms of battery life. That is the opposite if we talk about fast charging, given that there is a big power difference: the Mi Pad 5 supports 33W fast charging, while the Pro variant goes up to 67W.

Price

For now, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and its Pro variant are only available in China. The former has a starting price tag of €260/$305, while you need at least €330/$386 to buy the base variant of the latter. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 is naturally the inferior one. The Pro variant has a way better camera (if you choose the 5G version), optional 5G connectivity, and faster charging, as well as a better processor. If you need these features, go for the Pro variant, otherwise, you can get the same user experience with the vanilla version.

OPPO applies for MagVOOC trademark, its own version of MagSafe

Following the popularity of Apple’s MagSafe, Realme announced MagDart, its own take on magnetic wireless charging technology. Now, OPPO seems to be next to jump on the train according to a trademark application filing.

The MagVOOC trademark application was spotted by Twitter user Paras Guglani (via MySmartPrice). The listing doesn’t reveal much save for the date of application which is August 11, 2021, and the applicant which is OPPO Guangdong Mobile Communications Co. Ltd.

From the trademark name which is a portmanteau of magnetic and VOOC, OPPO’s charging technology, we can safely presume that this is OPPO’s own magnetic wireless charging technology.

We don’t know if OPPO plans to launch any phone that supports magnetic wireless charging anytime soon. Wireless charging is not a popular feature among OPPO devices. The Find X3 and Find X3 Pro are the only OPPO phones announced this year that have support for wireless charging. So if we are going to see magnetic wireless charging on an OPPO phone, it will most likely be next year’s Find X phones.

Motorola Edge 20 Pro coming to India soon

Earlier today, Motorola announced two new phones in India – the Motorola Edge 20 and the Motorola Edge 20 Fusion. However, their more powerful sibling, the Motorola Edge 20 Pro didn’t tag along. Don’t fret, as it has been revealed the phone will launch in India.

The info was revealed on Twitter by the Country Head of Motorola India, Prashanth Mani. The tweet was a quoted reply to a tweet by another user who said he wished the Edge 20 Pro was announced too. The top executive replied that the phone will launch soon.

The Edge 20 Pro a.k.a Edge S Pro in China is a Snapdragon 870-powered phone with a 6.7-inch FHD+ 144Hz OLED display. That display also has a 576Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+, SGS eye protection certification, DCI-P3 color gamut, and can display over a billion colors.

The processor is paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage but we won’t be surprised if India gets a more affordable 8GB RAM variant. There is a 108MP primary rear camera, an 8MP periscope camera with 5x optical zoom and 50x superzoom, and a 16MP ultrawide angle camera that can also shoot in macro. Up in front is a 32MP camera.

Motorola ships the phone with a 4500mAh and supports 30W TurboPower fast charging. It also has the Ready For PC feature that is available on the Moto G100. The Motorola Edge 20 Pro runs My UX based on Android 11 and Motorola is promising two years of OS upgrades and security updates.

JioPhone Next tipped to feature up to 3GB RAM, Android 11 Go & starts at Rs. 3499 (~$47)!

Reliance Jio announced the JioPhone Next back in June but not much has been said since then. The Next is a product of the partnership between Google and Reliance Jio to produce affordable Android smartphones. Although we are still in the dark on the full official specs list for it, some details of the JioPhone Next have surfaced online pertaining to its specifications and pricing. This is coming ahead of the launch slated for September 10.

A tipster has hinted that the smartphone will be priced at around Rs. 3,499 (~$47). This should make it the cheapest phone in its category if that pans out. Reliance Jio chairman Mukesh Ambani had earlier disclosed that the Next will rank as the most affordable smartphone not just in India but in the global market.

The tipster also shared some of the key specifications of the model. The model number of the yet-to-be-released Jio Phone Next is LS-5701-J and some of the specs available as per the latest leak include a Qualcomm 215 Mobile Platinum processor, Android 11 Go, Duo Go and Google Camera Go preinstalled, an HD+ screen resolution. We are still not sure what the screen size looks like. The dual SIM module supports dual 4G VoLTE connectivity, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.2.

The camera setup of the smartphone consists of a 13MP OmniVision rear camera sensor and an 8MP front camera. which supports 1080P video recording. The smartphone will have 3GB of RAM while the internal storage capacity is not known yet. Battery specification and battery life are not known also.

The smartphone is definitely targeted at the low end of the spectrum in India. We await further development ahead of the September 10 launch date.

Leaked Moto G50 5G specifications reveal a Dimensity 700 processor under the hood

Motorola already launched a phone called the Moto G50 earlier this year. The 5G phone was first launched in Europe in March before heading to China in April. Now, Motorola is planning to announce another model which it is calling the Moto G50 5G with slightly different specs.

Moto G50 5G (Saipan)

The renders of the phone leaked earlier, and they show a largely unchanged design save for the rear cameras that are now in a square housing. Another design change is the fingerprint scanner which is now on the side, doubling as a power button. The model that launched earlier this year has its scanner on the back.

With respect to the specifications revealed by Steve Hemmerstoffer in collaboration with Pricebaba, the Moto G50 5G codenamed Saipan will have a 6.5-inch 1600 x 720 display with a waterdrop notch. The front-facing camera is a 13MP sensor, carried over from its sibling.

Motorola has swapped the Snapdragon 480 5G for MediaTek’s Dimensity 700 chipset. There is 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. The primary rear camera remains a 48MP sensor but the specs of the other two sensors were not disclosed. The Moto G50 5G will also have NFC, an audio jack, and be available in two colors dubbed Iron and Cosmo. It should run Android 11 out of the box.

There is no info yet about a launch date but it should not be far off and most likely won’t be a big announcement.
