POCO M3 Pro 5G receives Thailand’s NBTC certification

The Redmi Note 10 5G, which debuted in the global markets in March, has a model number of M2103K19G. A recent report revealed that its Indian variant with the M2013K19I model number will be coming to India as the POCO M3 Pro 5G. This device has recently certification by authorities like FCC in the U.S. and SIRIM in Malaysia. Today, the POCO phone also passed certification from Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

The NBTC certification of the POCO M3 Pro 5G has no information on its specifications. The FCC certification of the phone had revealed that its specs will be identical to the Redmi Note 10 5G. The POCO M3 came with a large-sized and impressive camera module. Hence, there is a possibility that the M3 Pro 5G could also be flaunting a massive camera island.

The POCO M3 Pro 5G may arrive with a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with a punch-hole design. It may offer a 90Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. It could be featuring a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

It may come with a front camera of 13-megapixel. its rear camera setup may include a 48-megapixel main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

The Dimensity 700 chipset is expected to fuel the POCO M3 Pro 5G. Hence, it is expected to arrive with the first 5G-ready mid-range phone from the brand. It could be equipped with up to 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It may come with a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.

Realme has finally taken the wraps off the much-anticipated Buds Q2 TWS earbuds in Pakistan. The truly wireless earbuds model takes over from the Buds Q that was launched last year.

Like its predecessor, Realme Buds Q2 retains the budget pricing but on the aspect of the build, it presents with a premium build. The hardware offering also looks good. The Buds Q2 packs a lightweight design weighing just 4.1g, providing some comfort when worn. It also packs a 10mm bass boost driver with a sound enhancement which Realme calls Bass Boost+. The Buds Q2 doesn’t come with active noise cancellation but features Environmental Noise Cancellation which will help deliver a better call quality.

You also get Bluetooth 5.0 support and the wireless range is over 10 meters. The smart earbuds also come with an IPX4 dust and waterproof rating which means that they can be used during light rainfalls and sweat won’t also cause any damage if worn during workout sessions.

In terms of battery life, the Buds Q2 offers up to 20 hours of use including the charging case. It offers 5 hours of single playback time. It also comes with fast charging which can provide up to 120 minutes of playback time on a single 10 minutes charge.

For the design, the earbuds utilize a Kaleidoscope Lamination process on the touchpad which gives it a patterned feel. Apart from this tweak, the Buds Q2 looks like the Buds in design. The case also looks similar too, with its compact, pebble design.

As for the pricing, the Realme Buds Q2 is on sale on Realme Pakistan’s website for Rs. 3,999 Pakistani Rupees (~$26). The original price is Rs. 5999 (~$38). The earbuds come in Black and Blue colors.

Huawei Technologies is apparently in talks to take control of the electric unit of a small automaker that is based in China. This would imply that the company is diving deeper into the electric vehicle market.

According to a Reuters report, the Chinese tech giant is in talks with Chongqing Sokon to acquire a controlling stake in the automobile maker’s Chongqing Jinkang New Energy Automobile, as per sources close to the matter. In other words, this move will enable the consumer electronics maker and telecom equipment maker to make smart cars that are branded with its own name. Notably, Jinkang counts US electric vehicle producer Seres as its primary asset.

Acquiring controlling stake would also allow Huawei to look beyond just offering more than just self driving softwares and related hardware technology. Meaning, this could also allow the company to have an end to end presence in the electric cars market. Unfortunately, both Huawei and Sokon did not offer any statements regarding this matter. If the news is true, then this would mark a major shift for the company and its business focus in the EV market.

For those unaware, the company has primarily been a smartphone, telecom, and consumer electronics manufacturer. But recent US sanctions have crippled its handset unit, while it faces pressures from various governments for its telecom equipment. Thus, the deeper dive in to EV market could signal a shift in its business focus as a whole. One source added that “The supply chain for the auto industry is very long and complicated. Huawei does have its strength in software and platform but its ideas can’t be realized without solid technology improvements in the supply chain.”

Apple iPhone 12 is the most popular model from the series in Q2 2021: CEO

Apple CEO recently revealed that the base iPhone 12 model was the most popular handset from its latest lineup during the second fiscal quarter of this year, while its ‘Pro’ models still see strong demand as well.

According to an AppleInsider report, chief executive Tim Cook revealed that the iPhone has been in high demand since it first went on sale back in late 2020. While the Cupertino based giant refrained from offering any specific sales figures, it did hint at how customer demand was shared between different models of the 5G enabled iPhone lineup during its second quarter’s earnings call earlier this week. The quarterly revenue for iPhone was 47.9 billion US Dollars, which is a rise of 65.5 percent from the same period last year.

As per the CEO, the iPhone 12 was the most popular model, while the demand for the iPhone 12 Pro and even the iPhone 12 Pro Max remained high as well. On the other hand, the senior official did not mention the iPhone 12 mini. Previously, analysts had also reported that the “Pro” models of the iPhones saw robust sales, especially during the first quarter of this year. A few analysts even believe that the base iPhone 12 could even see a resurgence of demand.

Notably, Tim Cook refraining from mentioning the iPhone 12 mini is indicative of its lagging performance to its higher end siblings within the series. From the start, the company saw low sales of the smallest iPhone 12 model, with the company even slashing production capacity to make more room for higher end variants. Recently, Apple even launched a new purple color for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini to drive sales.

Last month, Xiaomi announced the Redmi Note 10 5G in global markets. A recent report claimed that this device may get rebranded as the Redmi 20X in China. Fresh information shared by the Xiaomiui Twitter handle reveals that this device will be rebranded as Redmi Note 10T in some markets.

The screenshot of an MIUI code shared by Xiaomiui shows that Redmi Note 10 5G (global) and Redmi Note 10T (global) phones and the Redmi Note 10 have the same Camellia. The leak claims that the existing Note 10 5G will arrive in China with Note 10 moniker and in other countries with Redmi Note 10T moniker. These models will be equipped with a dual-camera system. There is no other information about the Chinese Note 10 and the Note 10T for global markets.

The Note 10T device is expected to arrive as a successor to the Redmi Note 9T, which debuted at the beginning of this year. Probably, the Note 10T may go official at some point in the coming month.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 10 series in India in early March. The lineup includes three smartphones in the country. Out of which, the vanilla Redmi Note 10 is the most affordable model. Within two months from the release, the company has now hiked the price of this handset.

The Redmi Note 10 debuted in India at ₹11,999 ($162) and ₹13,999 ($189) for the base 4GB + 64GB variant and the higher 6GB + 128GB version. One and a half months later, this smartphone no longer retails at its launch price tags.

Earlier today, Xiaomi quietly increased the price of the Redmi Note 10 in India by ₹500 ($7). Therefore, the device is now listed at ₹12,499 ($169) and ₹14,499 ($196) on both Mi.com and Amazon India.

Unlike the Redmi Note 10 Pro and the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, the regular Redmi Note 10 is on open sale for weeks. Hence, this phone can be bought right away for its new asking price.

The Redmi Note comes with a 6.43-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 SoC, LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 2.2 storage, 48MP (Sony IMX582, wide) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) + 2MP (depth) quad-camera setup, and a 13MP selfie camera.

Samsung retakes smartphone market lead from Apple in Q1 2021: Report

Samsung Electronics has retaken the lead and overtook Apple as the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer. The former now accounts for more than a fifth of overall global sales during the first quarter of this year.

According to a Canalys report (Via Reuters), other smartphone OEMs like the Chinese brand Xiaomi has also recorded its best quarterly performance ever. The company’s shipments surged by 62 percent, reaching 49 million units and accounting for 14 percent of the market share. With this, the South Korean tech giant leads the market, with the Cupertino based firm arriving second, and Xiaomi following close behind on third. Meanwhile, the overall global smartphone sales also rose by 27 percent during this period, reaching 347 million units in shipments.

The news also arrives as the Chinese economy opened up after the pandemic while vaccination roll out in the US has raised the hopes of an economic recovery. Furthermore, Samsung shipped 76.5 million smartphones in the first quarter with a market share of 22 percent. This marked a surge of 66 percent in quarterly profit in its smartphone business, which is likely due to strong sales of its latest flagship Galaxy S21 series.

During this same period, Apple shipped 52.4 million iPhones with an overall market share of 15 percent. The company saw strong sales due to a positive reception of its 5G enabled iPhone 12 lineup in China. While the overall market saw great performance in Q1 2021, this momentum is expected to slow down in the arriving quarter as ‘supply of critical components, such as chipsets, has quickly become a major concern.’

The Black Shark 4 has just been spotted in a recent teardown video. The device was taken apart, which revealed key parts and components of the latest gaming smartphone from the brand.

In a new video from JerryRigEverything, we can observe the internals of the device as Zack methodically breaks down the handset. Since it has a plastic rear panel, the gaming smartphone is easier to open, using heat to get past the adhesive. One of the first thing that can be seen after removing the back panel is the shoulder mounted buttons that works through a magnetic mechanism. As the device is a gaming handset, we can also find a heat pipe that helps dissipate heat that seems to be aluminum rather than copper.

The Black Shark 4 is powered by a large 4,500mAh battery pack that comprises of two separate cells that are combined together. This is easily removed via pull tabs and disconnecting the wires. Zack even disconnects and removes the camera module of the device, including its primary and wide angle lenses. Taking a closer look at the magnetic system for the side mounted trigger buttons, these require three different pieces that move the mechanism that is powered by a magnet.

The Black Shark 4 is a relatively affordable gaming smartphone that starts from under 500 US Dollars. During the teardown Zack also added that its predecessor had one of the most complex internal housings, while this year it had a lot more streamlined and easier teardown experience overall. Earlier this week, the vivo V21 series made its global debut in Malaysia. The lineup includes three smartphones, namely vivo V21, vivo V21 5G, and vivo V21e. As scheduled, the company has now launched the vivo V21 5G in India as well.

The vivo V21 5G is a selfie-centric smartphone with a boxy design. The handset flaunts a 6.44-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 2404 × 1080 pixels, a 90Hz refresh rate, an in-screen fingerprint sensor, and a dewdrop notch.

It is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC coupled with 8GB RAM and an optional 3GB virtual RAM that can be enabled or disabled as per requirement. The device comes with 128GB/256GB internal storage with support for expansion via a MicroSD card slot.

The main highlight of this phone is its 44MP selfie camera equipped with OIS. Whereas, the rear camera setup on this handset includes a 64MP primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide unit, and a 2MP macro shooter.

On the connectivity front, the device supports dual-SIM, 5G, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, and GNSS (GPS, BEIDOU, GALILEO, GLONASS). Unfortunately, the phone lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack but features all the essential sensors like an accelerometer, proximity sensor, compass, ambient light sensor, and gyroscope.

As far as software is concerned, the smartphone runs Funtouch OS 11.1 based on Android 11. Further, it draws power from a 4,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging via USB Type-C.

Lastly, the vivo V21 5G comes in three colors – Sunset Dazzle, Arctic White, and Dusk Blue. The first two color options measure 159.68 x 73.90 x 7.39mm in dimensions and weigh 177g. On the other hand, the blue color variant is thinner and lighter at 7.29mm and 176g respectively.

Huawei to reportedly launch FreeBuds 4, Watch 3, and more next month

Chinese technology giant Huawei has been going through rough times given that the company is facing several sanctions from the United States, making it almost impossible for the company to compete in the smartphone market.

Despite the problems, Huawei continues to march ahead with the launch of several new products. In line with that, the company is reportedly all set to host a launch event next month, most likely on 19th May.

At the event, the company is expected to launch several new products, including its new semi in-ear true-wireless earphones named FreeBuds 4. It is expected to have a newly refined and stylish design and offer powerful noise reduction as well as battery life.

Additionally, there will also be Huawei Watch 3 series of smartwatches which are expected to come powered by the company’s own HarmonyOS (HongMeng OS in China) and a new user interface. The device is said to have support for eSIM and have a powerful app marketplace but we will have to wait for the launch to know for sure about the apps.

It is also reported that the company is working on a new 16-inch high-end notebook named MateBook 16 but more information about this device is not known at this time. It also remains to be seen if this laptop gets launched at the same event.

Despite facing issues in the smartphone business, the company isn’t backing down. It is reportedly planning to launch three foldable smartphones in the market across different price ranges The company recently listed the Huawei Mate40 Pro 4G and the Huawei Mate X2 4G smartphones on its website in China.

Huawei reported about a 16.5 percent dip in its revenue in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year. This is mainly due to the US sanctions that forced the company to revamp its business strategy and selling its subsidiary Honor last year.

Lenovo Beacon was launched in 2014 as the brand’s first personal cloud storage device. Since then the company has released a number of different models with varying functionalities. The company has now announced a new cloud storage product dubbed Lenovo Personal Cloud T2.

Personal cloud storage provides a physical storage unit for safe keeping at home. Lenovo Personal Cloud T2 is a NAS (Network-attached storage) device that provides a file-level storage architecture that makes stored data more accessible to a networked device.

On the core hardware, the cloud storage is powered by the Realtek RTD1296 (quad-core A53) processor with 2GB DDR4 memory, and there is 8GB eMMC 5.1 flash memory onboard. The device also comes with a Gigabit Ethernet port as well as a USB-A 3.0 port and a USB-C 3.0 port. The device further supports RAID 1 dual-disk mutual backup. RAID stands for “redundant array of independent disks,” and is a way of storing data on multiple drives. This method provides drive redundancy and ensures that if one disk fails, the second disk is available to retrieve the data to maintain data security. The device also has a built-in noise-less cooling fan.

The Lenovo Personal Cloud T2 comes with an upgraded LSM 2.0 software system which brings functions such as WeChat backup, offline download, Thunder download, remote playback, offline video transcoding, DLNA, Baidu network disk, NAS penetration, P2P direct transmission, etc., through the high-speed deployment in all continents of the world. The performance gateway node enables users to access the data in the device at a high speed and stability.

Lenovo Personal Cloud T2 will go on sale in China on May 10 via Jingdong. The pricing starts at 999 yuan (~$154) for the dual-position diskless version. The larger storage models come with higher pricing.

Chinese tech giant Huawei has reported a 16.5% dip in its revenue for the first quarter of 2021, in comparison with its performance the previous year. The company has been heavily affected by the US sanctions that made it redirect its overall business strategy and saw the sale of its highly productive smartphone arm Honor in November 2020.

The company reported a revenue of about $23.46 billion for Q1 of 2021, which was less than the corresponding tally for Q1 of 2020, although net profit grew by 3.8% to 11.1% in comparison with 2020. The increase in net profits was due to cost-cutting strategies and a huge $600 million in royalty payments within the quarter.

Huawei says that the outlook remains bright as its refined business strategy to cope with the US sanction regime begins to yield positive outcomes. The company has had to diversify to some other areas and seek alternative strategies in coping with the US blacklist that impacted its developmental strides especially in 5G technology, where it remains a leader even with the drawbacks occasioned by the US blacklist.

Huawei’s smartphone business took a massive hit in the aftermath of the US chip blacklist, and this led to the sale of its smartphone arm, Honor in November. Huawei was also restricted from accessing supplies from its US suppliers which virtually stalled its rollout of market-leading next-generation technologies.

The business outlook also showed a marginal decline in revenues from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (down 12.2%), the rest of Asia (down 8.7%), and the Americas, which declined by about 25%, showing that Huawei remains hurt more extensively in the Americas.

Last month, Huawei had posted a 3.2% increase in its profits for 2020 due mainly to its strong performance in its home turf of China. The company remains positive that it has turned the corner in rising above what it feels was an unfair attack by the US government.

The Midea Combustion Card Cooking Stove S5 Mini is the first Midea product that supports the Hongmeng operating system to be sold on Huawei’s Mall. The product is said to bring support for high-quality fat-burning closed-loop management.

The device looks like a microwave oven but it integrates several functions such as intelligent steaming and roasting. It deploys the hardware and combined with software as well as the content to create a closed-loop system that helps in the management of fat burning.

The product is embedded with a built-in HarmonyOS NFC smart sensor chip which makes it easy for a phone running on HarmonyOS to be connected to it quickly. The mobile phone will automatically jump to the built-in lightweight control page of HarmonyOS, where the user can obtain customized recipes that match the product, prepare the ingredients according to the recipe, and start the machine with one button to realize automatic cooking.

The steaming and roasting integrated oven supports 4 major cooking modes, including pure steaming, fresh-locking steaming, hot air roasting, and defatting roasting. Among them, the pure steaming mode will see oven heat up to 100°C, which can cook all kinds of homemade steamed dishes and noodles. On the other hand, the de-fat roasting mode is a combination of hot air and steam, which is suitable for roasting meat with thick sebum. This action releases excess oil and retains the tender and juicy taste of the meat.

Realme recently launched its latest Q3 series of smartphones, which includes Realme Q3, Q3 Pro, and Q3i. This new budget 5G smartphone series comes as a successor to the last year’s Realme Q2 series.

Today, the Realme Q3 series officially goes on sale in the company’s home market China. The cheapest among all three is the Realme Q3i priced at 999 yuan (~$154). The Q3 is priced at 1,299 yuan (~$201) while the Pro variant costs 1,599 yuan (~$247).

The Realme Q3 features a 6.5-inch LCD display while the Pro comes with a 6.5-inch Samsung AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Underneath, the standard model is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G SoC while the Pro variant packs MediaTek Dimensity 1100 processor.

Both of them come with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The Pro variant also has an option for a 256GB storage model. On the front side, both the smartphones come with a 16MP snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

On the backside, there’s a 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel camera setup on the Pro variant while the standard model comes with a 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple-camera configuration. The phones are running the Android 11-based Realme UI operating system. Coming to the battery, the Pro model packs a 4,500mAh battery while Q3 packs a 5,000mAh battery.

The cheapest model in the series — Realme Q3i features a 6.5-inch Full-HD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz touch sampling rate, and 90.5 percent screen-body ratio. It is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G chipset.

It packs 4/6GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. The device has a triple camera setup on the back with a 48-megapixel f/1.8 main lens, a 2-megapixel B&W f/2.4 portrait lens, and a 2-megapixel f/2.4 Macro lens. Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi announced the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition with Dimensity 1200 chipset earlier this week. It is believed that the model number of this device M2104K10C. Fresh information reveals that its Indian variant with model number M2104K10I may debut in India with POCO F3 GT.

Past reports have claimed that Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition (M2014K10C) is codenamed as Ares. The tipster revealed that the Indian edition of this device has “ares in” codename and it might carry the POCO F3 GT moniker. Previously, this model number was spotted at India’s IMEI database as a POCO branded device.

It is not clear when POCO will be announcing the POCO F3 GT in India. Some parts of India have extended the COVID lockdown until May 15 because of which brands are now postponing their forthcoming launch events. Realme was supposed to announce the Realme X7 Max 5G on May 4 through a mega launch event, but its arrival has been postponed indefinitely. Hence, it is likely that the POCO F3 GT may debut in India after May 15 or if the lockdown continues, it may even arrive In June. Hence, it is advisable to wait for further reports to know about its arrival.

Meizu 17 series smartphones to get Flyme 9 stable version on May 6

Meizu, the China-based smartphone manufacturer, has today announced that the stable version of its latest mobile operating system — Flyme 9 will be released for the Meizu 17 series smartphones on 6th May.

Further, the company has now started Flyme 9 Internal Beta Registration for the Meizu 16s Pro, 16s, 16th Plus, 16th, 16T, and 16X models. The original beta users of Flyme 8 will be automatically joined in and the new participants can go to the “System Update” section in the app and register for the same.

The latest Flyme 9, which was announced last month, comes with several improvements and new features. As this is a major update, it features significant changes in the design, privacy, functions, efficiency, and other aspects.

The desktop icons are now in square boxes with chamfered edges and there are beautiful color schemes that blend well with the background. Each third-party application can also rely on algorithms to achieve consistent icon styles.

The notification and control centers have been redesigned and are displayed side by side in a horizontal screen orientation, which is convenient to operate. The company has also visually simplified the fingerprint icon and application interface, removing the decorative elements and retaining only the necessary elements.

There are some interesting screensavers and wallpapers as well as new themes. Alive wallpaper supports dark and light color modes and can be transformed through different levels. ZTE Blade A31 5G with Snapdragon 768G, AMOLED display coming

ZTE has a new mid-range 5G smartphone coming according to a new leak posted on Weibo, the Chinese social media platform. The new phone will arrive as the ZTE Blade A31 5G and will have a Snapdragon processor under the hood.

The source of the leak is Digital Chat Station and it comes as a shared image on his timeline that appears to be a page from a certification document. The scanned document shows that the ZTE Blade A31 5G has the model number A2122H.

There is a drawing of the phone which shows that it will have a centered punch hole and an in-display fingerprint scanner which means that it will have an AMOLED display. Powering the device is the Snapdragon 768G processor, the same chipset inside the iQOO Z3 and the Redmi K30 5G Racing Edition.

Judging from the caption of the post, it appears there is very limited stock of the Snapdragon 780G processor which made its debut in the Mi 11 Lite 5G. This has led manufacturers to look to other chipsets for their phones. It is safe to assume that the original plan was for the Blade A31 5G to come with the 5nm chipset but its unavailability led to ZTE settling for the Snapdragon 768G.

The Snapdragon 768G was announced last year and it first appeared in the Redmi K30 5G Racing. The 7nm chipset has a clock speed of 2.8GHz and boasts a 15% increase in GPU performance over the Snapdragon 765G.

We do not know when ZTE will unveil the Blade A31 5G. The manufacturer is yet to announce the UNISOC-powered Blade A31 4G we spotted on the Bluetooth SIG website back in February. Maybe both devices will be announced together.

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360, two premium notebooks powered by the 11th-generation Intel Core i7 CPU with greater power efficiency and processing speeds than its predecessors.

The two laptops are available in 13.3-inch or 15.6-inch AMOLED display options. They also come with Thunderbolt 4 connectivity and overall durability which are the hallmarks of the design philosophy of Samsung. The AMOLED display is the same as that in the Galaxy series smartphones, featuring intelligent color engine technology that helps to produce high-quality screen output always. The AMOLED screen on the Galaxy Book Pro 360 features touchscreen support.

The laptops have been verified on Intel’s Evo platform and sport an ultra-thin and lightweight exterior and aluminum covering. You also get up to 8GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage, making both devices to be well suited for multiple tasks without being slowed down. The in-built microphone system in the laptops comes with an Intelligent Noise Cancellation Technology that makes it possible to have clearer and high-quality audio and video calls because it eliminates ambient disturbances when the mic is engaged.

On the software side, the Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360 come with several smart features such as SmartThings app to engage other smart devices in the home or other environment. There is also the Easy Bluetooth connection to connect to the Galaxy Buds and more. The Galaxy Book Pro in particular comes with an upgraded S Pen and has Clip Studio Paint preloaded into the laptop.

The Galaxy Book Pro has an upgraded stylus pen and is also preloaded with Clip Studio Paint. The Pro model starts at $999 for the base model while the 15-inch model will sell for $1,099. The laptop comes in two color variants – Mystic Blue, Mystic Silver, Mystic Pink Gold.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 starts at $1,199 for the 13-inch model and $1,299 for the 15-inch high-end variant. The Pro 360 is also available in three colour options – Mystic Navy, Mystic Silver, Mystic Bronze.
