Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot AI Robot Vacuum Cleaner launched in Korea

Samsung has unveiled the Bespoke Jet Bot AI Robot Vacuum Cleaner designed to significantly improve home cleaning duties. The robot vacuum cleaner features enhanced capabilities for object recognition and adopts artificial intelligence (AI) technology which significantly improves the performance as well.Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot AI

The Bespoke Jet Bot AI is capable of recognizing objects at the highest level and this is possible by pre-learning over 1 million images based on deep learning. It can distinguish several household appliances and furnitures such as TVs, air conditioners, refrigerators, beds, sofas, and others. The improvements ensure the robot cleaner can also recognise small objects such as pet poop, socks, electric wires, and glass cups.Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot AI Robot Vacuum

The Jet Bot AI is embbed with Intel’s AI solution known as Intel Movidius which provides an excellent object recognition. In addition, it packs the ‘Active Stereo Camera’ type 3D sensor which is a industry-first. The sensor can detect all obstacles from a distance of 1cm and above.

Further, the Samsung Jet Bot AI is equipped with two cameras that not only recognize space and objects in 3D like people but also shoot additional pattern beams. This enables sophisticated obstacle detection and spatial recognition even in situations where recognition is difficult with only the camera.

In addition, it can detect surrounding features in three dimensions at a distance of up to 1m and up to 60 degrees left and right, so it is possible to quickly and accurately identify the structure of the house for mapping the cleaning route and to detect low obstacles that are only 1cm in height.Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot AI Robot VacuumLike all known robot vacuum cleaners around, the Jet Bot AI features a LiDAR sensor similar to that used in self-driving cars. It can successfully navigate around by selecting the optimal route according to the spatial characteristics.

The robot also supports voice command as users can designate the desired area to clean with a simple voice prompt such as “Clean around the TV.” This also includes setting the areas that you need the robot to exclude. This voice prompt and other features can be selected from the SmartThings app.

Yet another amazing feature is the ability of the vacuum cleaner to automatically detect the floor type and adjust the cleaning intensity accordingly. It also automatically empties the dust bin when it is filled even if the cleaning is not completed. After cleaning, the vacuum cleaner returns to the docking station where it is charged.Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot AI Robot Vacuum

Apart from cleaning duties, the Jet Bot AI can be used to monitor the pet left at home in real time. The robot is programmed to detect abnormal signs or behaviors such as bad barking or not moving for a long time and notify the user. It also features a built-in speaker and music player that can play music for the pet. Samsung partnered with a Korean pet app outfit known as Ajinyangi to pre-install 20 different songs that can be played at random. The feature is operated using Samsung Card and is available for free to Samsung SmartThings pet service users. In addition, owners can also view video content containing various information from pet health counsellor and veterinarian Seol Chae-hyun for free via the SmartThings Pet Care Service.

The Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot AI comes in five colors: Misty White, Satin Pink, Satin Blue, Soft Greenery, and Soft Sun Yellow. The product is priced at 1.59 million won (~$1,433). There is no indication if this robot vacuum will be available outside South Korea.

Sony finally launches the Playstation 5 in China, months after the US launch

In November last year, Sony released the Playstation 5 in the US. Since then, the gaming console has gone on sale with the product always running out of stock as a result of the prevailing chip shortage that is bedeviling the entire tech industry. Sony revealed in February this year that it will launch the console in the world’s second-largest market – China between April and June. As expected, that launch has now happened. Sony, on Thursday, officially released the PS5 console for the Chinese market.Sony PlayStation 5

This is a welcomed development as it will further boost the sales of the console which already happens to be the top-selling Playstation console yet in the US despite the scarcity. It will also afford gaming enthusiasts in China the opportunity to get the console at the official price. Since the PS5 release, scalpers have consistently preyed on intending buyers in China by selling the console at neck-breaking prices after importing from Hong Kong or Japan.

The Playstation 5 console is expected to go n sale in China and it will retail for 3,899 yuan ($603) for the disc version while the digital-only PS5 will retail for 3,099 yuan ($479). The prices are higher than those of the US which starts at $399.

Sony also disclosed that it would release at least three games for the Chinese market. The games include Sackboy, Ratchet and Clank, and Genshin Impact, a popular title developed by a Chinese software developer.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite vs Moto G40 Fusion vs OPPO F19 Pro: Specs Comparison

If you do not need 5G and you want to save a lot of money while getting a perfect phone, you still have a lot of choices even in 2021. An example is the 4G variant of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite which has nothing to envy to the 5G version if we exclude the 5G support. But is it the best mid-ranger you can get right now or there are other devices at the same level which you can consider? We decided to pick two devices that we define at the same level as the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite in order to answer to this question: the Motorola Moto G40 Fusion and the OPPO F19 Pro.

Design

If you desire the best design, you should opt for the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite: one of the reasons why you should make this choice is the fact that it is incredibly thin and lightweight. It has a thickness of just 6.8 mm and a weight of 157 grams. Further, it is dust resistant and splash resistant with the IP53 certification. The OPPO F11 Pro is thin and lightweight too, but less than the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite. On the other hand, it has a more compact body due to the presence of a smaller display. The Motorola Moto G40 Fusion is a big phablet with a not outstanding design.

Display

The most advanced display is the one offered by the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite: it is an AMOLED panel that is able to show one billion colors with the HDR10 certification and the Full HD+ resolution. It sports a diagonal of 6.55 inches and a 90 Hz refresh rate. The second place goes to the OPPO F19 Pro: it has an AMOLED panel as well, but it lacks the HDR certification, it does not show one billion colors and it does not have a high refresh rate. The Motorola Moto G40 Fusion has a 120 Hz refresh rate and HDR10, but it comes with an IPS panel with less impressive image quality.

Hardware/Software

If you want the most stunning hardware, go for the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite. It is powered by the Snapdragon 732G mobile platform paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. The Motorola Moto G40 Fusion has a Snapdragon 732G too, but unfortunately, it offers just 6 GB of RAM in its high-end configuration. With the OPPO F19 Pro, you get the Mediatek Helio P95 which is built with a worse 12 nm production process and is definitely inferior to the Snapdragon 732G, but you can get up to 256 GB of internal storage instead of just 128 GB.

Camera

All of these phones come with pretty nice cameras and they offer similar levels of photo quality. The OPPO F19 Pro has a 48 MP main camera with a brighter f/1.7 focal aperture for better shots in low light conditions. But with Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite and Motorola Moto G40 Fusion, you get a great 64 MP main sensor capturing a great level of detail, as well as 120 fps video recording with 4K resolution.

Battery

The best battery phone is the Motorola Moto G40 Fusion with its mammoth 6000 mAh battery. It has slower charging, but its battery life is much better than Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite and OPPO F19 Pro. The Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite takes the silver medal: despite having a smaller capacity than OPPO F19 Pro, it has a more efficient chipset.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G vs Motorola Moto G40 Fusion vs OPPO F19 Pro: Price

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite is priced at about €299/$362, Motorola Moto G40 Fusion costs about €180/$218, and OPPO F19 Pro starts from €240/$290 (prices vary depending on the region). The Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite is the most advanced device here, but the huge battery of the Motorola Moto G40 Fusion and its wide display makes it very attractive for a lot of power users.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G vs Motorola Moto G40 Fusion vs OPPO F19 Pro: PRO and CONS

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G

PROS

  • IP53 dust resistant and splash resistant
  • Great AMOLED display
  • Stereo speakers

OnePlus 6/6T Android 11 update may not arrive until the end of the year

OnePlus used to be known for its speedy updates but in the past year, the manufacturer has struggled to update its devices. Following the release of the update for the OnePlus 7/7T series, it should be the turn of the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T but based on a new report, the stable update may arrive well after Android 12 has been released.

OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T
OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T

According to an official forum post, actually an OxygenOS Monthly FAQ, it was revealed that the Open Beta version for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T is scheduled to be released by the end of August. That is four months from now!

Based on this info, we do not expect a stable update will be released until late October at the earliest and by then Android 12 will already have been announced and probably even begun rolling out to eligible devices. This is definitely sad news for owners of these two devices who have been anticipating this update.

The OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T launched with Android 8 Oreo and Android 9 Pie respectively. So for the former, this is its third major OS upgrade and most likely its last. For the OnePlus 6T, this will be its second OS upgrade.

OnePlus’ recent attitude to updates may dissuade prospective customers as well as cause current ones to switch to another brand.

OnePlus EB2103 appears on Singapore’s IMDA ahead of launch

Last month, 3D CAD renders of a OnePlus smartphone codenamed Ebba were released by reliable leaker @OnLeaks (Steve Hemmerstoffer). A couple of days later, a OnePlus phone with model number EB2101 was certified by BIS. Now, another OnePlus handset with model number EB2103 appears on the IMDA certification bureau.

OnePlus Ebba featured

The OnePlus EB2101, which was spotted on India’s BIS is expected to be the OnePlus Ebba. That’s because OnePlus usually uses the first two letters of its device’s codename in its model numbers.

Hence, the newly discovered OnePlus EB2103 on Singapore’s IMDA could also be the same phone. However, we do not have concrete proof of this.  Anyway, according to this certification, the handset will have support for 5G, LTE, VoLTE, WCDMA, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, VoLTE, and GPS.

That said, as per the renders by Steve, the OnePlus Ebba will feature a 6.49-inch flat display with a single punch-hole at the top left corner. The device’s glossy plastic rear panel will house a vertically aligned triple camera setup.

Further, this smartphone will sport a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, and a speaker grille at the bottom. Also, it will include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor but no alert slider.

Last but not least, the OnePlus Ebba, which is said to be the successor of the OnePlus Nord N10 5G will measure 62.9 x 74.7 x 8.4mm in dimensions.

Huawei Wireless Mouse GT gets certified by Wireless Power Consortium

Huawei has had to pivot to other businesses following the massive blow it was dealt by the U.S. ban. One of the areas the Chinese giant has focused on is computers and related devices. It already sells its own monitor and keyboard, and now it may also begin selling a gaming mouse that supports wireless charging.

We came across a Huawei mouse in the database of the Wireless Power Consortium. According to the listing, the input device is called the Huawei Wireless Mouse GT and it has model number AD21.

Huawei Wireless Mouse GT

The attached image shows the mouse has a black matte finish and a design that is akin to gaming mice. There is a scroll wheel in the center along with two buttons. We also believe the mouse has RGB lights judging from the type of plastic used for the V-part of the design.

The Huawei Wireless Mouse GT supports Qi wireless charging and should work with any Qi wireless charging mat/pad.

Q Wireless Mouse Pad
3rd-party wireless charging mouse pad sold on Vmall

We don’t know when Huawei will announce this gaming mouse and if it will be announced globally. Also, while it has its own wireless charging pads for phones, it doesn’t have a wireless charging mouse pad. There is actually a 3rd-party one listed on Vmall but only a small part of the mouse pad is the charging area. Maybe we will get a proper wireless charging mouse pad when the Huawei Wireless Mouse GT is announced.

OPPO F11 Pro gets ColorOS 11 (Android 11) stable update

Back in December 2020, OPPO started recruiting beta testers for OPPO F11 Pro Android 11-based ColorOS 11 update. Months later, this smartphone has finally started receiving the stable update.

OPPO F11 Pro Featured
OPPO F11 Pro

OPPO announced ColorOS 11 based on Android 11 in September. Since then, the company has been delivering beta and stable builds for eligible devices worldwide.

Going by the schedule, OPPO opened beta registrations for OPPO F11 Pro and OPPO F11 Pro Marvel’s Avengers Limited Edition in December. However, even after four months, the company did not make an official announcement regarding the stable release.

Instead, the firm vaguely mentioned in ColorOS 11 April 2021 update plan that the stable update for the OPPO F11 Pro, the OPPO F11 Pro Marvel’s Avengers Limited Edition, and the OPPO F11 has been released.

But now, we can confirm that the Android 11 stable build has been indeed released for the OPPO F11 Pro. Since Marvel’s Avengers Limited Edition runs the same software, the update should be also available for this variant of the phone.

This information comes from a reply tweet by ColorOS official Twitter handle (via PiunikaWeb). Unfortunately, the tweet does not mention the firmware version.

Anyway, if you own an OPPO F11 Pro, then head over to Settings > Software update to check whether your unit has received the ColorOS 11 stable update. If you did not get it, then wait a bit further as it may take some time since it is being rolled out in batches.

OnePlus sees a whopping 388% YoY sales growth in Europe: Report

OnePlus has recently seen explosive growth in the western region. The company’s sales have seen a whopping 388 percent year on year growth in Europe, as per an official announcement.

OnePlus

According to the official notes from the Chinese tech giant (Via 9To5Google), the smartphone maker saw a 388 percent sales growth in the first quarter of this year in Europe. This is reflected by the 10 million global users of the company’s smartphones. A major part of the growth is likely due to a number of factors, including growth in confidence of the brand and rise in spending by people post the Coronavirus pandemic that affected the world back in 2020.

Furthermore, the growth of the company in the region is also likely linked to the decline of Huawei after its smartphone operations were crippled due to US sanctions, especially outside of China. For those unaware, the brand faced restrictions coupled by the lack of access to Google Play Services caused the company. Thus, the company saw impressive growth in the region, which was further backed by the launch of the latest OnePlus 9 series.

OnePlus

Despite the major growth, the company only holds a 2 percent market share within Europe with a proposed 85 percent figure. As per a Counterpoint Research report, this still puts the brand in third place in terms of year on year growth after Realme and Oppo that recorded 183 percent and 94 percent growth respectively.

Xiaomi unveiled MIUI 12.5 at the Mi 11 launch event in late December. It is a minor update to MIUI 12 with performance and security improvements.

The company has been releasing weekly beta builds since its official announcement. Lately, it has also started rolling out stable builds for select devices, as per the schedule.

The MIUI 12.5 update for the Redmi K30S Ultra and the Mi CC9 comes with build numbers V12.5.1.0.RJDCNXM and V12.5.1.0.RFCCNXM respectively. The latter phone also gets Android 11, just like the Mi CC9 Meitu Edition.

These two builds are currently in the ‘Stable Beta’ phase. This means they are only available for a select few users. Anyway, they should gradually reach all the users if there are no major bugs.

Similarly, we can expect Xiaomi to start seeding out the MIUI 12.5 update for the international versions of these handsets. For those unaware, the Redmi K30S Ultra is sold as Mi 10T, and the Mi CC9 is known as Mi 9 Lite in global markets.

Indian smartphone market witnesses 26% YoY growth in Q1 2021: Report

India is one of the largest smartphone markets in the world and the market witnessed a surge of 26 percent in the first quarter of this year with shipments of 38.8 million units of smartphones in Q1 2021.

A report from Strategy Analytics claims that the surge in demand is a result of eased lockdown restrictions in the first quarter and increased demand for new 4G smartphones.

Xiaomi remained the leading smartphone brand in the country with a 26.5 percent market share. The company is facing tough competition from Samsung which has captured an 18.6 percent market share in India.

Indian Smartphone Market Share Q1 2021

Last year, in Q1 2020, Xiaomi had a massive 32 percent market share while Samsung had only 16 percent during the same time. Now, Samsung is trying to surpass Xiaomi to become the leading smartphone brand in India.

The new devices coming from the South Korean giant, including the Galaxy M-series, A-series, and F-series are in demand given that they offer a smartphone from a famous and premium brand at affordable prices.

Vivo managed to grab the third position in the Indian smartphone market in Q1 2021 with a market share of 18 percent, an increase of two percent compared to the same period last year. It is just behind Samsung and could pose a threat to the South Korean giant’s position in the Indian market. It is also spending heavily in India to boost its brand and in line with that, Vivo has become a title sponsor of IPL.

Another Chinese company OPPO got the fourth position in the Indian market with a 12 percent market share. The company is gearing up to boost its position in India and is reportedly set to launch its own online store next month.

Realme, which started off as a subsidiary of OPPO, is the fifth most-selling smartphone brand in India with an 11 percent market share. The company’s market share slipped from 15 percent a year ago, mainly because of the lagging offline presence.

The Indian smartphone market remains highly volatile and it will be interesting to be seen how the market share of these brands changes in the second quarter as India again imposes lockdown-like restrictions amid surging COVID-19 cases in the country.

The new information about the Galaxy Buds2 comes from an emerging tipster – Yogesh. He has partnered with MobileSyrup to bring these details to the public.

According to the leakster, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Buds2 will have a similar design as the Galaxy Buds+. However, the case of these buds will be slightly larger (pictured above). Hence, we can expect even better battery life.

Further, these new pair of truly wireless earphones from the South Korean tech giant will reportedly compete with sub-$100 earbuds. In other words, they could be cheaper than the launch price of Galaxy Buds+.

Unfortunately, these buds will lack ANC (Active Noise Cancellation). Also, they might not have the new 360° audio feature that debuted on the Galaxy Buds Pro.

Lastly, according to Yogesh, the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 could launch in June in pastel color variants. Therefore, we can expect them to match with the new Galaxy A series of smartphones.

According to the previous report, the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 are codenamed ‘berry’ and they will have multi-device connection support. This feature will be compatible with non-Samsung products as well.
