Apple, which started manufacturing iPhone SE in India through its partners, has now expanded it to produce iPhone XR and iPhone 11. Now, the company is reportedly planning to start making iPhone 12 in India.
In an effort to reduce its dependence on China, Apple has been expanding its production facilities across several regions and one of such market is India. A new report from Business Standard claims that Apple will soon start producing iPhone 12 in India.
As per the report, the Cupertino-based giant is planning to initially shift about 7 percent to 10 percent of the iPhone 12 production to India from China. The company is also considering to move the manufacturing on iPhone 12 Mini to India but Apple has not yet made a final decision.
The iPhone 12 models manufactured in India will be available for purchase in the domestic market and will also be exported. With local manufacturing, the company will be able to avoid paying heft import tariffs. However, it remains to be seen if Apple decides to pass on the benefits to the customers, which it hasn’t done in the past.
But passing on the benefits to the customers could mean a bit lower starting price for the iPhone 12 in India, giving it a boost in the market. Apple has been trying to expand its footprints in India and this could be a gateway to have a significant market share.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 is the current flagship chipset from the company and now it is working on a stripped-down version of the same, which is expected to come without the support for 5G communication.
The company had recently launched the Snapdragon 870 and it is not yet known how the upcoming chipset will differ from the SD870 SoC. However, the chipset is likely to be based on the 5nm process and meant for markets where 5G is still not available.
Additionally, Qualcomm has also started working on the Snapdragon 888 successor which is internally known as “Waipio” and has a model number SM8450. It is expected to get launched by the end of this year.
Roland Quandt says that the company is testing samples compatible with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of storage. What’s interesting is the camera capabilities of the chipset which is expected to get a major boost.
It is being reported that the upcoming flagship chipset from Qualcomm will come with Leica technology and for this, both the company has entered into a partnership. Currently, they are testing on a module named “Leica1.”
For those who are unaware, Leica is a German company that manufactures cameras, lenses, binoculars, rifle scopes, microscopes and ophthalmic lenses. Huawei has been using the Leica lens for its flagship devices since past few years and has been appreciated for its camera performance over the years.
The current-generation flagship chip — Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 is manufactured by Samsung using the 5nm process. It remains to be seen if the company opts for a 4nm node for the production of its successor.
iQOO is going to announce the Snapdragon 870 SoC powered iQOO Neo5 smartphone on March 16 in China. Ahead of the launch, the Chinese firm has been gradually revealing the key spec and features of the Neo5. Today, it released a Weibo post to reveal the display design along with its key information.
The official poster confirms that the iQOO Neo5’s screen has a punch-hole positioned at the top-center position. The chin of the device appears slightly thick. iQOO has confirmed that the smartphone is equipped with a Samsung AMOLED E3 display.
Previous reports have revealed that the iQOO Neo5’s screen is integrated with a fingerprint scanner and it also features an independent chip, which allows it to offer a smoother experience by consuming less power.
Today, the company revealed that the independent display chip can carry out frame-by-frame color analysis of the content display on the screen, upgrade ordinary SDR images to a similar HDR level, and offer improved picture quality. To ensure an accurate visual experience, the company conducts color calibration and consistency calibration on each screen.
It is mentioned in the above image that the iQOO Neo5’s display offers a high refresh rate of 120Hz, an instantaneous touch sampling rate of 1000Hz, 1300nits brightness, 6000000:1 contrast ratio, and HDR10+ support. iQOO is yet to confirm the screen size of the Neo5.
Recent reports have claimed that the iQOO Neo5 has a 6.61-inch FHD+ display, Snapdragon 870 chipset, UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,400mAh battery that supports 66W fast charging. For photography, it may feature a front camera of 16-mgeapixel, and its rear-facing triple camera system may include an OIS-ready 48-megapixel Sony IMX589 primary camera, a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel snapper. It may come with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage.
Last week, Lenovo released the first teaser of the upcoming Lenovo Legion gaming smartphone. The teaser revealed that the handset will come equipped with a dual turbo cooling system for heat dissipation. A new Lenovo smartphone with model number L70081 powered by a flagship chipset has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform (via. Abhishek Yadav). It seems that the L70081 could be the next-generation gaming smartphone from Lenovo. It is yet to be confirmed whether it will be launching as the Legion Pro 2 or Legion 2 Pro.
The Lenovo L70081’s Geekbench listing shows that it is driven by the “lahaina’ codenamed Qualcomm chipset that has a base frequency of 1.80GHz. The codename is associated with the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform.
The SD888 chip is coupled with 16GB of RAM. The device is preinstalled with Android 11 OS. In the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench, the handset scored 1130 and 3779 points, respectively.
At present, there is no information available on the other specs of the Legion Pro 2. Since it has appeared on Geekbench, it seems that the Chinese firm could be internally testing the performance of the device. Probably, it could be planning to launch its next gaming phone in Q2 this year.
The Lenovo Legion 2 Pro will be succeeding the Legion Pro (aka. Legion Duel in China) smartphone. The predecessor model offered specs like a 6.55-inch AMOLED FHD+ display with a 144Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 865 mobile platform, up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Lenovo Legion Pro
The Legion Pro came with a 5,000mAh battery that supported up to 90W charging. It came with a side-facing 20-megapixel pop-up selfie camera. The rear shell of the device was fitted with a 64-megapixel main camera and a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens. It was equipped with other specs like dual USB-C ports and an in-screen fingerprint reader.
Samsung started releasing incredible battery phones. We are not talking about good battery phones with 5000 mAh like the concurrence, but devices with mammoth 7000 mAh batteries that can even provide four days of battery life on a single charge with moderate usage. The handsets we are talking about are the Samsung Galaxy F62 and the Samsung Galaxy M51. Unfortunately, they do not have 5G connectivity, but their battery life is amazing. Here is a comparison between these two battery phones in which we also brought the Xiaomi Mi 10i just in case you are looking for a 5G battery phone in the same price range.

Design
The most attractive design is offered by the Samsung Galaxy F62, in my honest opinion. The phone has a less invasive camera module with the same color as the rear cover. But unlike the Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G, it does not come with a glass back. The Gorilla Glass 5 rear side of the Xiaomi Mi 10i provides a more premium feel. Further, the Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G is a thinner phone. None of these devices has a premium design, unlike flagship phones, but they are not disappointing in terms of aesthetics.
Display
The Samsung Galaxy F62 and the Galaxy M52 have the same display: a 6.7-inch panel with the Super AMOLED Plus technology and a Full HD+ resolution. It is actually a better display than Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G and it has an in-display fingerprint scanner. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G provides a higher 120 Hz refresh rate which is great for gamers and it has the HDR10 certification for better image quality on streaming services.
Specs & Software
If you need the best performance, then you should go for the Samsung Galaxy F62. Despite not being powered by a Qualcomm chipset, it has a more powerful SoC: the Exynos 9825. But unfortunately, you do not get 5G connectivity with the Galaxy F62. If you want 5G, you must choose the Xiaomi Mi 10i equipped with a Snapdragon 750G SoC, up to 8 GB of RAM, and UFS 2.2 native storage. The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G is actually more powerful than the Galaxy M51.
Camera
The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G has the best main camera: a 108 MP sensor with an f/1.8 focal aperture. The Samsung Galaxy F62 and Galaxy M52 feature better secondary sensors (ultrawide, macro, and depth) and they have the same camera departments. They also come with better selfie cameras.
Battery
Samsung Galaxy F62 and Galaxy M51 pack the same huge 7000 mAh battery, and the battery life should be similar. The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G has a smaller battery and a shorter battery life, but it charges faster.
Price
The starting prices of the Samsung Galaxy F62 and Samsung Galaxy M51 are €270/$320 and €320/$379. The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G starts from just €250/$296. If we consider the whole specs sheets, Samsung Galaxy F62 is the best one especially due to its powerful chipset. Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G has a better camera and 5G, but a smaller battery and an inferior display to both its rivals.
With the US sanction seriously restricting the activities of Huawei in its rollout plans for its smartphones due to massive chip shortage, the company has been seeking innovative alternatives to overcome the chip blockade and is set to release the P50 series in April 2021. The models are expected to come in limited quantities mainly due to the chip blockade by the US government.
HUAWEI MatePad 5G 10.4 Dark Ash
The interesting part of the coming launch is the reported release of the Huawei MatePad Pro 2 5G tablet also in April 2020. The MatePad Pro 2 5G tablet is Huawei’s flagship 5G tablet offering cutting edge functionality and great features. Powered by the Kirin 9000 high-end chipset, the MatePad Pro 2 5G would run on the PadOS operating system, which was developed along the lines of Huawei’s homegrown HarmonyOS operating system.
Reports say that two versions of the 5G tablet will be available at launch – one with a 12.2-inch Hua Xing display, and a second model with a 12.6-inch Samsung display. The two models have a 120Hz refresh rate, together with a battery expected to be more powerful than previous smartphones released by Huawei.
Inside sources say that in trying to overcome the debilitating US restrictions, Huawei will be using a lighter version of the flagship Kirin 9000 chipset (called Kirin 9000E) on the P50 model. The main difference between the two chipsets is in the Neural Processing Unit (NPU). While the NPU of the Kirin 9000 has two large cores, that of the lighter Kirin 9000E has a single large core. In addition, both chips have the Mali-G78 GPU, but having 24 cores for the Kirin 9000 and 22 cores for the Kirin 9000E. We can’t say for sure if the MatePad 2 5G will equally launch with a Kirin 9000E under the hood.

Japan is reputed as the country with the highest number of functional vending machines per capita in the world. The country is looking at an effective way of putting its estimated 4.1 million vending machines into the fight against the coronavirus pandemic by selling rapid test kits via the machines.
The move is expected to scale up testing beyond the 40,000 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests that are being carried out daily across the country. It is also aimed at conserving critical public healthcare manpower that should be deployed to other areas for a more targeted battle against the pandemic.
The citizens had been at the mercy of private healthcare providers as the only alternative for testing before the deployment of the vending machine model. Therefore, vending machines configured to sell test kits are an effective way of avoiding the crowding at public and private healthcare facilities and waiting to be attended to. This was the view of Hideki Takemura, director of the Laketown Takenoko Ear Nose and Throat Clinic which has already deployed seven vending machines in parts of the capital, Tokyo.
According to Takemura, the country was carrying out a very low number of PCR tests which made it difficult to have a true picture of the extent of the pandemic in the country and even affected the recovery effort.
The vending machine model was a huge success at the early stages as the machines had high patronage, and in some cases, had to be emptied of cash and restocked due to the inflow of citizens who needed to be tested. While the vending machines are still popular, there had been a lull in their demand as the country continues to battle another wave of the pandemic.
The process of testing begins when a person purchases the test kit from the machine at about $40, which will then be used to collect the person’s saliva sample and then mailed to the laboratory for analysis.

You have just gotten a new smartwatch, and thankfully, it is one that has replaceable straps. If you need help with choosing the right type of strap for your watch, then this guide should come in handy.
When you want to choose a new strap, there are different factors to consider. They are the purpose or reason, size, the type of material, design, and the source. We will explain them below:
Purpose/Reason
You probably have a reason(s) why you want to change your strap. It could be a functional one such as wanting a strap that is more attuned to a sports/outdoor lifestyle or a style-based reason such as wanting a strap that matches your attire. You can have more than one reason. Regardless of what it is, having a reason will help you in your decision of choosing the right strap.
Size
The next thing to consider is the size of the strap your smartwatch uses. Most smartwatches use either a 22mm or 20mm strap. There are also those that use 18mm straps. In some cases, it is the size of the dial you have to note. For example, if it is an Apple Watch, it can be 38mm, 40mm, 42mm, or 44mm. Knowing the right size for the strap is very important as a strap that is too big or too small is useless.
Type of Material
Now that you know why you want to choose a new strap, the next thing to consider is the type of material you want your strap to be made of. This factor is sometimes influenced by the reason why you want to get a new strap.
Metal, nylon, or leather? The choice is yours
For example, if you want a strap for a sports/outdoor lifestyle, you want a strap made from a breathable material or a material that won’t get damaged by moisture such as nylon, silicone, or polyurethane. If you are choosing a strap based on style, for example, one that has a professional look, then leather and metal are the materials you should consider.
Design
Now that you have decided on the type of material, the next is the design. Some materials can be made into several designs and not all of them may be the right one for you. If you are picking a metal strap, you may prefer a strap with a Milanese loop over a link bracelet.
Apple Watch with Braided Solo Loop with no clasp and Xiaomi Mi Watch Color with a strap with a tang buckle
Under design is also the type of clasp/buckle the strap has. Do you want a strap with a magnetic clasp, one with a tang buckle, one with velcro, or one with no buckles or clasps? The choice of material usually influences the type of clasp or buckle in some situations as certain materials don’t work with a certain type of clasp/buckle.

The last factor to consider is where you want to buy your strap. Are you buying an official replacement strap or one made by a third-party? There is a possibility that the type of strap that best fits your requirement is not made by the manufacturer of the watch, so you have to get it from a third-party. The third-party source may be a licensed company or a no-name manufacturer.
Where you choose to get your strap from will also determine how much you pay. Official watch straps usually cost more than those made by a third-party.
Conclusion
Switching straps based on your needs or style is a fun thing much like how you choose a watch face. With the explanation above, it should be easy for you to choose a new strap for your watch.

DSCC (Display Supply Chain Consultants) has released its new report on foldable displays for March 2021. According to the report, Samsung and Samsung Display will continue to remain dominant throughout this year, just like 2020. However, unlike the previous year, the shipments will see momentum only in the second half of 2021.
Foldable and Rollable Smartphones Performance Q4 2020
As per DSCC’s latest report, shipments of foldable smartphones grew 54% QoQ and 242% YoY in Q4 2020. Samsung Electronics was the leading brand in the fourth quarter of last year with a whopping 91% market share based on units.
Samsung Electronics led the foldable smartphone market throughout 2020 with an 87% unit market share. The overall market shipped 2.2 million units, which is 1000% more, compared to 2019.
According to Ross Young, the CEO of DSCC, Samsung Electronics has delayed the launch of its next-generation foldable smartphones until Q3 2021. The South Korean tech giant is expected to release at least three foldables.
The Galaxy Z Fold series could replace the Galaxy Note series as the company’s second flagship series after the Galaxy S series. Additionally, the firm is also expected to launch a more-affordable Galaxy Z Flip clamshell foldable smartphone.
Further, Samsung Display, the sister company of Samsung Electronics will start selling foldable displays with UTG (Ultra-Thin Glass) to other brands in H2 2021. A total of at least 12 different foldable and rollable smartphones from 8 brands are expected to release in the market in the second half of this year.
Samsung Electronics is forecasted to lead the foldable and rollable smartphone market with an 81% unit share and a 76% revenue share in 2021. On the other hand, Samsung Display’s unit market share will increase from 83.5% in 2020 to 87% in 2021 since it will be selling displays to other brands in H2 2021.

However, the shipments of the entire foldable smartphone market are expected to surge by only 1% YoY and 40% YoY in Q1 2021 and Q2 2021 respectively. But the shipments should shoot up over 100% in the remaining quarters (Q3, Q4).
More than 5.1 million foldable and rollable smartphones are expected to be shipped this year. More than 3 million of these shipments are said to happen in Q4 2021. In other words, unit shipments could grow up to 128% while revenue may increment up to 137% to $8.6 billion, as compared to 2020.
Foldable smartphones with Galaxy Z Fold-like form factor (book-type) are expected to account for 49% of foldable and rollable smartphone revenues in 2021, up from 39% in 2020. That’s because new entrants in this category, like Google, Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi are reported to release phones with the said form factor.
Last but not least, as per Ross Young, the devices from new entrants will feature in-folding displays as small as 7.1-inch and as large as 8.2-inch, in addition to sub-7-inch clamshell foldable phones.
The new feature allows parents/guardians to create personal profiles for their kids/wards, thus separating their content from that of the rest of the older inhabitants in the home. However, separation of content is not the only thing you are getting.
Parents will be able to choose which apps they want to make available for a kid’s profile. Just like the regular profile, kids will get feature rows with recommendations from their apps. Google says access to shows and movies that have been purchased on another device can be shared with kids via the Google Play Family Library.
Parenting in the age of tech can be 😵 That’s why we're starting to roll out kids profiles on #Chromecast with Google TV that are designed to make it easy to choose from a selection of family-friendly apps and set daily watch limits for your kids. 👉 https://t.co/ChZ55zQoWhpic.twitter.com/o33f0MAStY
Google has made it possible to customize each profile you create. There are themes that are designed to appeal to kids, and in the coming weeks, there will be avatars available so you can choose a profile picture for your child. It will be nice if it were possible to add a photo of your child.
Another feature that the Kids Profiles brings is Screen Time Management. Parents will be able to manage screen time by setting daily watch limits and a bedtime schedule. Shortly before the screentime is up, Google says that three countdown warnings will be displayed on the screen before a final Time is Up Screen appears and ends their watch time. You will be able to add extra watching time if you want. Last but not least is a profile lock via a PIN that prevents your child from accessing your profile.
Kids Profiles will begin rolling out first in the US this month and then globally over the next few months.
At the end of the Redmi Note 10 series launch event in India last week, Xiaomi teased an upcoming product. The product has now been revealed to be a new smart TV. The Chinese company has now announced via a teaser poster, a launch event scheduled for March 17.
The event will see the company unveil what will be the first Redmi-branded smart TV to hit the Indian market. Xiaomi already sells different models of Mi TVs in India but nothing yet under the Redmi brand.
The teaser poster points at the launch of the Redmi XL which suggests a large-screen TV. Already, Xiaomi already launched the Mi smart TV series 65 inches. The Redmi TV may pack a 70-inch screen size but the company may even spring up a surprise by launching an 80-inch model which was recently unveiled in China.
The smart TV is expected to be manufactured in India as hinted by Xiaomi India Smart TV head Eshwar Nilakantan. The firm recently entered into a partnership with Radiant which is aimed at increasing production. Already, Xiaomi India is working with Dixon for the manufacture of the Mi smart TVs. The company is also expected to manufacture the Redmi TVs.
The Xiaomi India Smart TV head also disclosed that the Redmi smart TVs are targeted at “much younger” customers. In that regard, we expect a more affordable product instead of the high-end Redmi Max.
We expect more details about the Redmi TV model to emerge before it launches on March 17th.
