Xiaomi Mi 10i could soon receive Android 11 update as Mi 10T Lite bags it

Xiaomi launched the Mi 10T Lite alongside the Mi 10T and the Mi 10T Pro in late September. The handset debuted with MIUI 12 based on Android 10. Now, months after its release, this device has finally started receiving the Android 11 update.

Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite Featured
Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite

The Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite ships with two types of MIUI builds – Global and EEA. But currently, only the variant running the global build is receiving the Android 11 update.

Above all, the update with build number V12.0.2.0.RJSMIXM is currently in the ‘Stable Beta’ phase. Hence, it is being only seeded out to select users. If these early adopters don’ face any major issues, the availability of this update will be extended for more customers.

Similarly, Xiaomi should start delivering the Android 11 update not only to the EEA variant of Mi 10T Lite but also Mi 10i and Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G very soon.

That’s because the Redmi Note 9 Pro that debuted in late November 2020 in China is basically the Mi 10T Lite with a 108MP primary sensor. On the other hand, the Mi 10 that released in India last month is a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G.

Hence, these three phones codenamed gauguin run the same MIUI build with regional tweaks. That said, going by Xiaomi’s update track record, this trio should get at least one more Android update and three MIUI updates.

Sony is being sued and accused of consumer fraud over its PlayStation 5 Controller. The company is facing a class action lawsuit after numerous users experienced issues with their PS5 DualSense controller.

Sony PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller

According to an AndroidHeadlines report, many consumers have been facing an issue with the controller and its functioning. Over the course of the last couple of months, many users have been facing an issue known as ‘drift.’ For those unaware, drift is an issue where the joysticks of the controllers malfunction. This, in turn, causes unintentional movement or shift in camera angles without any input from the user. Meaning, one can face issues during gameplay due to these unwanted inputs from the faulty controller.

A similar problem was also observed with the Nintendo Switch, so users that were initially facing the issue were quick to catch on to the problem they were facing. The first reports regarding the potential Sony lawsuit had first appeared last week. Back then, the law firm involved was only gathering information from affected consumers and now, they are moving forward with the lawsuit.

Sony

The goal of the lawsuit being brought against the company that is over consumer fraud, aims to have the Japanese tech giant offer free replacements. Unfortunately, this does not imply that those that purchased a PS5 will receive a new DualSense controller for free, rather, only those who opted into the class action lawsuit will receive a new controller, if the lawsuit is successful. Furthermore, the legal course also seeks damages for potential out of pocket expenses as well, to reimburse those who might have purchased a new controller.

First Malware designed for Apple M1 chip has been discovered

The first malware that has been specifically designed for the new M1 chip from Apple has just been discovered. This indicates that malware creators are now beginning to adapt their malicious software for the company’s new generator of ARM based Macs.

Apple M1 chip features

According to a report published by Mac security researcher Patrick Wardle (Via MacRumors), the new malware has been tailored and recompiled to run natively on the M1 chip. Wardle discovered that the first known native M1 malware in the form of a Safari adware extension. This was originally made to run on the Intel x86 based chips from the Cupertino based giant. The malicious extension is dubbed “GoSearch22” and is a known member of the “Pirrit” Mac adware family.

This extension was also first spotted at the end of December last year. For those unaware, Pirrit is one of the oldest and most active Mac adware families that have been found on the platform, which has constantly been adapting to avoid detection. So, it was only a matter of time before the malware to make it to the new Macs. The GoSearch22 adware appears as a legitimate Safari browser extension, which tracks and harvests users’ data and serves a large number of ads like banners and popups.

Apple

Some of these popups are linked to other malicious websites that spread more malware. As per Wardle, the adware was signed with an Apple Developer ID in November 2020, but that has since been revoked. He further added that as malware for the M1 is still at its early stages, antivirus softwares are not detecting it as easily as the ones on the x86 versions. In other words, this is just the beginning and we can expect more such malwares to surface soon.

Apple reportedly being helped by LG for foldable iPhone development

A new report has suggested that Apple might be receiving help from LG Display for the development of its upcoming foldable iPhone. Apparently, the South Korean tech giant will supply the former with flexible OLED panels.

Apple

According to a DigiTimes report (Via WCCFTech), LG might be the supplier for the OLED panels that will be found in the foldable iPhone. While not confirmed, previous reports had hinted at Samsung being the sole supplier for these foldable panels for the Cupertino based giant. Meaning, both companies might supply the display for the upcoming foldable iPhone, while LG is even rumored to be helping in the display’s development as well. Recently, we had reported on the iPhone 13 series also featuring LTPS screens, so LG might play a role in this too.

Unfortunately, the report does not mention any details regarding when this foldable iPhone might launch or gave out any other finer details either. Although, we had previously reported that the company might have the device arrive in a clamshell like design, similar to the Galaxy Z Flip. This report had also mentioned a launch of sometime within 2023, if the company doesn’t face any major hurdles during development.

Apple

Furthermore, another report had pointed at Apple possible working on two prototypes of foldable iPhones, with the one launching first featuring the clamshell design. This decision is due to the few points of failure in this form factor. Reportedly, the company is also taking great care to refine the technology behind this device to avoid the various structural issues that plagued the original Samsung Galaxy Fold. Keep in mind, this is still an unconfirmed report, so take it with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more updates.
