After releasing a report on India Smartphone Market Q3 2020, IDC has now published a report on India Wearable Market for the same period. According to it, the market shipped a record 11.8 million units accounting for 165.1% YoY growth.
boAt Airdopes 441 Pro
Though India is one of the largest smartphone markets in the world, the wearable market of the country is still a work in progress. However, in the last quarter, companies managed to ship a ton of units, thanks to increased demand.
The demand for these products rose as a result of people working and students continuing their education from the comfort of their homes. Another reason is that they became more affordable than ever before.
For instance, the average price of smartwatches dropped to $111 in Q3 2020, compared to $175 a year earlier in Q3 2019. Similarly, the average price of TWS declined by 48.6% YoY to $57.
Therefore, the shipments of TWS reached almost 4 million units in the last quarter with a whopping 1156.3% YoY growth. This product category alone contributed to 39.7% of the entire wearable market. Indian brand boAt led the market with a 26.1% share and realme came second with a 15.5% share.
Whereas, the smartwatch shipments grew by 119.9% YoY with 778,000 units making Q3 2020 the strongest quarter ever since the product category’s debut in India. Domestic brand Noise led the market with a 28.5% share, followed by realme, which beat Huami for the second position with a 24.2% share.
On the other hand, although the shipments of smart bands grew by 83.3% QoQ with 962,000 units, its growth actually declined by 20% YoY. Xiaomi led this segment with a 52.4% share, followed by realme with a 14.6% share.
Lastly and most importantly, the whole earwear category recorded its all-time high shipments of 10.048 million units in Q3 2020, and hence, it grew by 260.5% YoY. boAt led the market with a 32.4% share, followed by Samsung (Samsung, Infinity, Harman Kardon, and JBL) with a 15% share.
Earlier this month, Micromax unveiled its first competitive smartphones in a long time in the form of IN 1b and IN Note 1. Both were made available for pre-order a few days ater the launch and the company even started shipping the former device to the customers shortly. However, the first sale for the former phone has been postponed. The firm is yet to announce the new sale date but ahead of it, new information about his handset’s software has emerged.
Micromax IN 1b
The Micromax IN 1b is a budget smartphone powered by MediaTek helio G35 chipset paired with LPDDR4X RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage. This device comes in two storage configurations – 2GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB priced at ₹6,999 ($95) and ₹7,999 ($108) respectively. These are known facts but what was unknown is its software.
According to Gadgets360, the base 2GB + 32GB variant of the phone runs Android 10 Go Edition. On the other hand, the higher 4GB + 64GB model runs the regular Android 10 operating system.
The publication found this difference in the official Flipkart listings of this phone dnd even Micromax has confirmed the same. For some reason, the company did not reveal this dissimilarity between the two memory variants at the virtual launch event.
Anyway, we should have seen this coming. Because a report from July revealed that phones launching with 2GB RAM or less must run Android Go Edition from Q4. That said, Android 10 Go Edition is not bad software per se since it is well-optimized for lower RAM devices.
Are you looking for the best 5G phone sold at an affordable price? Then you should check the OnePlus Nord N10 5G. It looks like it won’t receive more than one major Android update, but its specifications are very interesting as well as its price. If you are wondering whether or not this is the best 5G mid-ranger released recently, you are in the right place. We decided to compare the OnePlus Nord N10 5G with the other 5G affordable phones released in the last period: the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite and the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G. Let’s discover together the differences between their specifications.
Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite 5G vs OnePlus Nord N10 5G vs vs Samsung Galaxy A42 5G

Design
The nice advantage of several Xiaomi affordable phones is their glass back: the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite looks more premium thanks to that. But its look is not exactly the most beautiful, due to its big rectangle-shaped camera module placed at the center. The OnePlus Nord N10 5G is a bit more modern and elegant with its less invasive camera module, but that fingerprint reader on the rear side makes it look a bit outdated. But I still prefer the OnePlus Nord N10 5G not only for its look but also because it is more compact and lighter. Samsung Galaxy A42 5G has a nice design and even an in-display fingerprint scanner, but that waterdrop notch…
Display
Most people prefer AMOLED displays due to their more vibrant colors and deeper blacks, even when they could choose LCD displays with incredibly high refresh rates. That is why Samsung Galaxy A42 5G wins the display comparison: it is the only one to feature an AMOLED display in this trio. Further, it has an in-display fingerprint reader, unlike its rivals. But you should not underestimate the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite as it offers a high 120 Hz refresh rate and the HDR10 certification improving the image quality. I would not go for the 90 Hz IPS display of the OnePlus Nord N10 5G.
Hardware/Software
Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite and Samsung Galaxy A42 5G are powered by the Snapdragon 750G mobile platform, while OnePlus Nord N10 5G is fueled by the Snapdragon 690 5G. There are no huge differences between these processors, that is why you would better focus on the memory configurations. If you consider the memory configurations, the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G wins because it offers up to 8 GB of RAM while you can only get 6 GB of RAM with Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite and OnePlus Nord N10 5G. All feature Android 10 out of the box, but OnePlus Nord N10 5G will only get one year of major updates.
Camera
The best rear camera setup belongs to the OnePlus Nord N10 5G packing a 64 MP quad camera with an f/1.8 focal aperture. Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite comes right after with very similar specifications, while Samsung Galaxy A42 5G is actually inferior due to its 48 MP main sensor.
Battery
With the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G you get the biggest battery and even the longest battery life. Given that it sports an OLED display, it has lower energy consumption. But with the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite you get a faster charging technology.
Price
You can find the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G for about €300/$360, OnePlus Nord N10 5G costs €350/$420, and Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite sells for about €250/$300. Despite its lower price, the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite is the most complete device from the trio, but some may prefer the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G due to its AMOLED display. What would you choose?

Last month, Huami unveiled a new smartwatch dubbed Amazfit Pop in China. The watch which has a square-shaped design features several impressive health-tracking options. The Chinese company has now teased the impending launch of a Pro version soon. The company released a teaser that shows the wearable device will be launched on December 1.
The teaser also reveals some of the key specs of the wearable device. The company also promised to make bare the entire specs on the scheduled launch date. Among the listed specs, there is a 1.43-inch OLED screen. The watch is also expected to feature NFC and 24-hour heart-rate tracking. The smartwatch will equally arrive with Amazfit’s PAI algorithm to keep you active and motivated, and the wearable will have over 60 different sports modes.
The revealed specifications are found on the Amazfit Pop which was also launched as Bip U in some markets. However, where the Pop Pro will stand out is the presence of built-in GPS which means the watch won’t rely on a phone for positioning. The upcoming watch will equally feature a microphone onboard.
Huami is yet to reveal the pricing details of the Pop Pro but the smartwatch’s price is expected to be slightly higher than the 349 yuan (~$60) price tag that the Pop carries. The Pro version may likely sell for 399 yuan (~$60). We also expect the watch to be available in three color options just like the Pop – that is green, black, and pink. The model on the poster has a green color.

China-based tech giant Huawei is set to deploy liquid lens technology in its flagship gadgets beginning from next year. A new tech report monitored in China says that Huawei is in the final leg of the testing process for its liquid lens, which is expected to greatly accentuate image stabilization and focus times, thus providing an improved visual experience for users. According to the China report, the focus time will be reduced to a few milliseconds which will now be at par with the focus time of the human eye.
The liquid lens technology is expected to be deployed for the telephoto camera first so that instead of moving the lenses, the module will alter the shape of the liquid through varying voltage so it focuses the light. In addition, the implementation is expected to be more durable and sufficiently impervious to shock, when compared to the non-liquid type telephoto cameras.
If we are to countenance the information from a renowned Chinese tipster, the liquid lens will likely be paired with the yet unannounced Sony IMX782 sensor to provide excellent visual quality. Of course, it will be used within the telephoto framework.
Earlier in April 2020, Huawei successfully patented the liquid lens technology for use in its smartphone camera module. The patent application was filed in December 2019 and approved after about four months. The liquid lens module includes moving a motor, camera placeholder and electronic hardware to move the liquid lens.
The goal of liquid lens technology is rapid autofocus. A liquid lens can potentially go through the entire sequence of focus in milliseconds with instantaneous lock. This also implies easier and faster tracking of objects in motion, thereby providing massive opportunities for the use of smartphone cameras as motion picture devices. (via)
A couple of days back, it was reported that Samsung had suspended the One UI 3.0 Beta update for the Galaxy Z Fold2 due to a serious bug. Today, the company is rolling out a hotfix version and has resumed the Beta program for the device.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G Mystic Bronze
As reported by Tizenhelp(via Sammobile), the update is rolling to users of South Korea currently. The firmware version of the latest One UI 3.0 Beta update is F916NKSU1ZTKD and weighs 189MB. Samsung has reportedly mentioned on Community forums that it has released the 1st hotfix version for the affected users. Accordingly, reports say that the update has fixed the earlier bug.
Previously, Samsung had rolled out the One UI 3.0 Beta update for Galaxy Z Fold2 with firmware version F916NKSU1ZTKB. It came with a bug that didn’t allow users to unlock the device irrespective of using any biometric methods. Similarly, Samsung had to postpone the Beta update for other devices like Galaxy S10, Z Flip following issues with battery and performance on the Galaxy Note 10.
Although it has fixed the issues and resumed the program for the above devices, reports say that it has ended the Beta program for the Galaxy Note 20 series. This suggests an imminent stable rollout of One UI 3.0. If we recall, Samsung confirmed the OneUI 3.0 Beta based on Android 11 back at the event on August 5. The Public beta program began after the initial developer build and has extended to a lot of flagships including the Galaxy S10 series from 2019.
Coming back, Galaxy Z Fold2 becomes the second foldable to get the One UI 3.0 based on Android 11. This is because, the Galaxy Z Flip, which received the update a few days ago, becomes the first foldable device to get it. As usual, if you are in South Korea, you can apply for the Beta via Samsung Members App. However, users in other countries have to wait till Samsung expands it to other regions.
Anyway, the rollout of One UI 3.0’s stable version will likely start in December and extend to as many as 90 devices.

Back in October, OPPO launched the OPPO A15 smartphone in India. Ahead of the launch, the device along with the A15s was spotted on several certifications. Now, the supposed sibling, the OPPO A15s appears on Malaysia’s SIRIM certification website suggesting a global launch.
As tipped by Mukul Sharma, a device with model number CPH2179 appears on the SIRIM database. Now, a month ago, a device with the same model number appeared on Singapore’s IMDA and Europe’s EEC certification listed under OPPO. And among this, the IMDA website revealed that the device will be called A15s.
Coming back, the model number is listed as a mobile station with GSM, LTE support. This indicates that the A15s will come with 4G support just like the A15. Not to mention this device has already got India’s BIS certification recently. All this indicates that the device could launch soon globally.
Besides, we think the ‘s’ in the A15 moniker suggests that it could share specs with the OPPO A15. However, we aren’t really sure if it’s a rebrand of OPPO A15 for other markets because their model numbers(CPH2185, CPH2179) are different. Anyway, OPPO hasn’t confirmed anything about this device, and hence, take this guess with a pinch of salt.
OPPO launched the A15 at a price tag of ₹10,990($148). The device recently got a ₹1,000($13) price cut in the country. Hence, we can expect similar pricing for the A15s. The OPPO A15 features a 6.52-inch IPS LCD display that produces an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels.
Under the hood, it is powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 chipset paired with 3 GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 32 GB and a microSD for extra storage. At the back, you get a triple-camera setup with a 13MP main lens and two 2MP sensors. Upfront, we have a 5MP selfie shooter.
Other specifications include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5mm audio jack, micro-USB port, 4,230mAh battery with 10W charging, ColorOS 7.2 based on Android 10.
Global tech leader in foldable phone technology, Samsung is offering a polished clamshell foldable in the Galaxy Z Flip and a much-improved larger screen in the Galaxy Z Fold 2. Pioneering work in the foldable space shows that the move allows for a larger tablet display
The display arm of the company, Samsung Display may have provided a hint of future foldable phone designs, as it recently gave a sneak peek of a device with a multi-folding design. An accompanying photo shows a foldable gadget with a Z-style folding mechanism, in which the left third of the display folds inwards and onto the front of the center third. Moreover, the right third of the screen can fold backward, behind the center third of the display, thus providing a compact device, as compared to non-foldable displays.
There are several advantages inherent in the foldable display design. Of course, the user will have a much larger tablet experience when folded out compared to the current foldable. The design is also unlikely to result in a below-par phone experience, which was seen with the berthing years ago of the original Foldable having a very small phone screen.
The most important concern for the multi-folding design such as what Samsung is proposing is its durability and lifespan. The first-generation foldable phones had major, hinge-related problems, and so adding a second hinge would also come with serious challenges that ought to be overcome before the production of such foldable displays.
Many persons may opt to buy a multi-foldable phone for different reasons, especially if the price is good and the phone is rugged enough. However, there are many others who may prefer other foldable options and others still who are outrightly not interested in foldable a of any hue.
It is possible that the introduction of a second folding point would result in a second display crease, but this is just a minor issue since Samsung came out with a good crease with the Galaxy Z Fold 2’s offering.
Samsung Display did not issue a timeline for the launch of foldable phones with a multi-folding design. But we would expect Samsung itself to be the first manufacturer to adopt this technology. (via)
Samsung recently released the Exynos 1080 SoC in an event streamed online from Shanghai, China. The company has now released an official introduction video that highlighted the key features of the new chipset. The one-and-a-half minute-long promotional video was posted on YouTube and did not provide any new info, as we already know a few things about the chipset. However, the video tries to generate traction around the company’s latest mobile SoC, claiming that it is a “5G processor that makes your phone fly.”
Of course, Samsung is elated with the release of the Exynos 1080 chipset. It is a premium mid-range chipset that will power the next generation of high-end 5G phones principally from Samsung and other phone manufacturers who may want to adopt Samsung’s chipset technology. The chipset has an integrated 5G modem and Samsung says this chipset can deliver “groundbreaking” downlink speeds of up to 5.1Gbps at NR Sub-6GHz networks when operational.
The chipset has an integrated neural processing unit (NPU) for on-device artificial intelligence, AI. The NPU has the potential to offer up to 5.7 TOPS (trillion operations per second) of performance, providing a humongous leap in AI processing, or to use Samsung’s words, introducing “new heights of intelligence.”
The promotional video also mentioned that the Exynos 1080 is one of the first chipsets to get ARM’s new Cortex-A78 CPU cores. It has one Cortex-A78 core at 2.8GHz, delivering speeds that will permanently alter the face of mobile computing. The chipset also has three more Cortex-A78 cores at 2.6GHz. The four power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores operate at a maximum frequency of 2.0GHz. The SoC supports LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The latest Mali-G78 MP10 GPU is also added for “artistic graphics.”
The Exynos 1080 is compatible with HDR10+ and a 144Hz screen refresh rate at Full HD+ resolution which makes for “silky screen” and “flowing touches.”
This chipset is capable of supporting camera sensors up to 200-megapixel, thus providing new vistas for mobile photography with AI-powered camera features on the Exynos 1080. The new chipset can also offer HDR10+ video recording in 4K UHD, thus also “redefining” mobile videography.
The Exynos 1080 is Samsung’s first processor designed and produced on a 5nm EUV-based FinFET process, thus providing massive energy (power and heat) savings via low power consumption and higher efficiency, with a reduced chip size (by 25 percent) as compared to the 7nm process.
Samsung says that the Exynos 1080 would offer a 50 percent improvement in single-core performance over previous processors. Additionally, multi-core performance could see a 100 percent increase in performance. Samsung’s hypothesis, however, can only be validated when the chipset becomes operational inside devices.
The Exynos 1080 is projected to debut inside a Vivo smartphone by early 2021.
Motorola has already announced that it will launch the Moto G 5G smartphone in India on November 30. Now, the company could also be bringing the Moto G9 Plus that launched in Brazil and UK to India as the device has appeared on the country’s BIS certification website.
As reported by MySmartPrice, two Motorola devices with model numbers XT2083-7, XT2087-3 are listed on the BISdatabase. Accordingly, the XT2087-3 could just be a variant of the Moto G9 Plus for India. This is because a device with a similar model number(XT2087-1) earlier visited TÜV Rheinland and FCC certifications. It later turned out to be the Moto G9 Plus for European markets.
Besides, if we recall, Motorola had launched the non-Plus smartphone, Moto G9 long back in India. This device also launched as the Moto G9 Play, and Lenovo K12 Note in countries like UK, and Saudi Arabia respectively. However, we think that the Plus variant will carry the same G9 Plus moniker in India as usual.
Motorola Moto G9 Plus Specifications
Talking about the specs, Moto G9 Plus features a 6.8-inch FHD+ LCD display. According to Motorola, it is a Max Vision Display and has a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels, 386 PPI, and 89.4% screen-body ratio. The device in the UK comes in Blush Gold and Navy Blue colors.
Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC. This is paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. You can also expand the storage via a MicroSD card up to 512GB. Additionally, Adreno 610 GPU handles the graphic duties.
For cameras, you get a quad-rear camera setup with 64MP f/1.8 main lens, 8MP ultra-wide with 118° FOV, two 2MP f/2.2 macro, and depth sensors. Upfront, there is a 16MP f/2.0 selfie shooter tucked under the top-left punch-hole.
Other specifications include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 5,000mAh battery with 30W TurboPower charging, Android 10. It also has 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, water-repellent design, 3.5mm audio jack, USB-C, GPS, NFC for connectivity.
Midea has launched a new eye-protecting hanging lamp for monitors. The Midea Display Hanging Lamp is presently on sale at Xiaomi Youpin and is priced at 199 yuan (~$30).
The Midea Display Hanging Lamp is 46cm in length and is made of aluminum material which is resistant to high temperature and convenient for heat dissipation. It can be used directly on flat and curved screens and can be installed on displays smaller than 6.5cm.
The monitor uses a gravity triangle shaft to attach it to the display removing the need for auxiliary tools to attach it. The lamp has a power rating of 4.5W and supports a Type-C interface and it can be powered by both positive and negative plugs. The lamp has a touch switch to turn on/off the device as well as dim the lamp.
The Midea Display Hanging Lamp adopts an asymmetric light source design. Users can adjust the angle of the lamp according to their own needs to illuminate the desktop area directionally, without illuminating the screen so that the screen is non-reflective, no glare, and more eye-protection.
The lamp has a color rendering index of Ra95 and the light can restore the color of the object truly and clearly, avoiding the bad look caused by color cast. The lamp has 3 color temperatures (3000K, 3900K, 5000K) that can be adjusted, and supports step-less dimming. You can choose the light that suits your eyes according to your habits.

Samsung is reported to launch the Galaxy S21 series earlier than its predecessors. The company’s latest flagship smartphones are expected to release in mid-January 2021. Now, according to a new leak, they will be accompanied by a newer Galaxy Buds model.
Samsung Galaxy Buds+
The world’s largest smartphone maker launched the first-ever Galaxy Buds alongside the Galaxy S10 series in early 2019. Its successor Galaxy Buds+ was unveiled a year later in 2020 along with the Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy Z Flip.
A few months back, the company even introduced one of a kind truly wireless earphones called Galaxy Buds Live at the Galaxy Note20 series launch event. Now, as per SamMobile, Samsung will be launching another new model in the ever-growing Galaxy Buds series alongside the upcoming Galaxy S21 series.
According to the report, the next Galaxy Buds TWS will come with ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) just like the Galaxy Buds Live. But unlike the latter, which has a peculiar bean-shaped design, the newer model will inherit the basic in-ear design from the other two models.
Also, these earbuds are said to come with improved ‘Ambient Mode’. For those unaware, this feature enables users to listen to the noise coming from their surroundings. Hence, they can be aware of their whereabouts when they are in the streets or similar places.
Having said that, the exact branding of these earbuds is still a mystery. However, it is worth noting that Samsung recently trademarked a branding called ‘Buds Beyond’. Hence, it might end up with this name or something else.
Samsung Galaxy Buds Live
Further, another report from earlier this month said that the South Korean tech giant may bundle this audio accessory with the Galaxy S21 series. Additionally, a recent report suggested that the production of this TWS codenamed ‘Attic’ will commence from December.
That said, we expect to learn more about this product in the coming days ahead of its official announcement.
