ZMI, China-based Xiaomi‘s ecological chain company, has lately been gaining popularity for its wide range of charging devices, which includes power banks, wired chargers, wireless chargers, and car chargers.

Now, the company has teased through its Weibo account that it is all set to launch a new car charger in China tomorrow, i.e. on 5th August. The product is being teased as “Lamborghini Same Model” and will have a luxurious texture finish.

As per the reports, the upcoming product from the company, which is a wireless car charger, will come with support for induction telescopic, one-handed operation, and wireless fast charging.

Currently, there’s no official information available regarding the product in question. However, we will get to know more about the device, including its name, specifications, features, pricing, and availability details when it gets launched tomorrow.

Xiaomi India announced the Redmi 9 Prime smartphone in India today. It is the same phone that is selling as Redmi 9 in China, With a starting price of Rs. 9,999 (~$133), the Redmi 9 Prime manages to impress its fans with features like FHD+ resolution supporting display, gaming-focused processor, a behemoth battery, and quad rear cameras.

The Redmi 9 Prime is a splash-proof device with an Aura 360 design that brings features like 3D unibody with concentric circles around the rear cameras and anti-fingerprint ripple texture feature for better grip. Goodix Technology closes acquisition of German chip design company DCT

Goodix Technology, a China-based company that makes software and hardware semiconductor solutions, has announced that it has completed the acquisition of Dream Chip Technologies GmbH (DCT).

The company noted that the acquisition marks a key step for Goodix as the company is working on a diversified strategy and integrating global engineering talent. It will help to accelerate Goodix‘s ability to rapidly deliver integrated solutions for smart mobile devices and automotive applications, and expanding its customer base.

Commenting on this, David Zhang, CEO of Goodix said: “DCT’s track record of success and market validation is perfectly aligned with our strategic development in automotive applications and ISP offerings. Xiaomi has been launching new products through crowdfunding at regular intervals and now the company has announced a new product — Mijia Sports ECG T-Shirt. It will be available for purchase through crowdfunding from 5th August.

It will be available through a crowdfunding campaign for a price of 249 yuan, which is about $36. Once the campaign gets over, it will retail for 299 yuan, which roughly converts to $43 and is unlikely to be available outside of China.

As the name itself indicates, the highlight of this t-shirt is the ECG support. The company claims that the T-shirt can accurately monitor the ECG status of the user by connecting it to the Xiaomi Wearable app.

The Mijia Sports ECG T-shirt comes with an innovative COTECH sensor fiber which the company claims can realize the non-inductive capture of micro-current signals and display real-time ECG of the human body in about a minute.

Xiaomi seems to be gearing up to launch a new smartphone under its Mi lineup as the brand’s upcoming smartphone has been spotted on a subway in China. The leaked image on Weibo shows someone using the device, which is covered with a protective cover.

While the name of the smartphone in question is not yet known, the leaked images have revealed some of the key features of the device. It shows that the phone will come with a punch-hole cutout on the top of the display for the front-facing camera.

U.S. puts Chinese apps on notice amid TikTok acquisition talks

Microsoft recently confirmed that the company is in talks with TikTok for acquiring its business in the United States. It also confirmed that the company is aiming to close the deal by 15th September, as mandated by the U.S. government.

Now, it seems that the issue isn’t just related to TikTok and the United States is planning to take action against other applications. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that action will be taken against WeChat and “countless” Chinese software companies.

He said that action will be taken against Chinese companies that pose a national security threat to America. However, it’s noteworthy that the United States has not yet provided any substantial proof of security-related issues by Chinese apps in question.

In an interview with Fox News, Mike Pompeo said: “These Chinese software companies doing business with the United States, whether it’s TikTok or WeChat, there are countless more … are feeding data directly to the Chinese Communist Party their national security apparatus. It could be their facial recognition pattern, it could be information about their residence, their phone numbers, their friends who they’re connected to… Those are the issues President Trump’s made clear we’re going to take care of. He will take action in the coming days with respect to a broad array of national security risks that are presented by software connected to the Chinese Communist Party.”

TikTok has repeatedly denied that it could be used by the Chinese government as the company’s U.S. user data is already stored on US-based servers and backed up in Singapore, so it is not subject to Chinese law.

A well-known tipster with Digital Chat Station account name on Weibo revealed earlier this week that iQOO will be launching the iQOO 5 series this month. Today, the company released a confirmation through its Weibo account that it will be debuting the iQOO 5 series on Aug. 17. The iQOO 5 series could end up as the world’s first smartphone with 120W fast charging support.

On July 21, OnePlus held a launch event to announce the OnePlus Nord upper mid-range phone. The handset was made official in Europe and India. At launch, the company had said that the OnePlus Nord will be available for purchase in India starting from Aug. 4. The company has decided to postpone the open sale date. The official forum post by the firm states that the open sales of OnePlus Nord start at 12 PM IST on Aug. 6. Also, a new banner on Amazon India says that OnePlus Nord will go on sale on Aug. 6.

Customers in India who wish to purchase the OnePlus Nord can either visit OnePlus.in or Amazon India. Shortly after OnLeaks posted 3D renders of the Huawei Mate 40, the renowned leaker followed it with those of the Mate 40 Pro. The upcoming flagship largely shares its design with the standard variant in addition to a few key differences.

The Mate 40 Pro has a pill-shaped punch hole too for its front-facing cameras as seen in the images and video posted on PriceBaba, OnLeaks partner site for this leak. The sensors are spaced apart too on the waterfall display.

Yes, the Mate 40 Pro has a curved display but its curves extend further to give it a waterfall design. Even with the screen, Huawei manages to put a volume rocker along with the power button on the side rather than going for the touch-sensitive on-screen volume control that the Mate 30 Pro uses.

The left side of the phone is bare but the bottom is home to the USB-C port and speaker grille. It is also said to be home to the SIM tray but isn’t shown in the renders. The top of the phone is where the IR blaster and secondary microphone are located.

On the back, Huawei has redesigned the camera housing which has four sensors including a periscope lens for zooming. Flanking the setup on the left is the LED flash.

The source reports the screen size is about 6.7-inches and the phone’s dimensions are 162.8 x 75.5 x 9mm (10.4mm with the camera bump). It will launch with a new flagship Kirin processor and run EMUI 11 out of the box when it arrives in October.

Xiaomi first launched the Redmi 9A in China late last month with the phone made available in a single 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of built-in storage. The Chinese giant has now launched a second memory variant of the entry-level smartphone. The new model comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage.

This version was announced in Europe but what makes this announcement special is that the variant is available for 499 yuan (~$71). Whereas it launched clutching a 99 Euro price tag in Europe. The variant is now available on Jingdong (JD.com) in China.

As a reminder, the Redmi 9A is equipped with a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display with a waterdrop notch. It supports 720 x 1600 pixels resolution and a 20:9 aspect ratio. It has a front camera of 5-megapixel that supports features like front HDR, gesture photo, and face recognition.

The backside of the Redmi 9A has a 13-megapixel snapper. It offers users with features like HDR, portrait mode, AI scene recognition, time-lapse photography, and 30fps 1080p video shooting.

The model is an Helio G25 powered entry-level smartphone. It houses a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W charging. It equally comes pre-installed with MIUI 12 based on Android 10 OS.

The Redmi 9A is a dual-SIM phone that comes with a dedicated slot for microSD card. It comes with other features such as dual speakers, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, microUSB, and 3.5mm audio jack. It lacks a fingerprint reader.

Apple confirmed a delay in the launch of iPhone 12 series in its Q2 2020 (third fiscal quarter) earning call. Now, more details emerge regarding the same from a report. According to it, the American tech giant will start shipping its latest iPhones in a phased manner.

A new report by DigiTimes (via MacRumors) revels there will be a delay between the launch of iPhone 12 series models. Out of the four expected models, two phones will be made available first, followed by the remaining two after a few weeks.

Apple is said to introduce four iPhone 12 series handsets this year with different sizes 1 x 5.4-inch, 2 x 6.1-inch, and 1 x 6.7-inch. According to the report, the 6.1-inch models will be available first as suppliers have begun to ship SLP (substrate-like PCB) mainboards for them. Whereas, the SLP for the other two models will start shipping by suppliers starting late August.

This clearly indicates the 6.1-inch iPhone models to ship to customers earlier than the other two models. These two phones are expected to be a high-end version with triple camera setup and a low-end variant with dual camera module respectively.

Design

Redmi 10X has a more classic and less attractive design than its rivals, but it comes with very high build quality. Indeed, it sports a glass back just like premium handsets. Further, the rear glass and the display are protected by Gorilla Glass 5 by Corning. You do not get such a great build quality with the Honor X10 and Realme V5, but they have a more attractive look: in the first case, you get a full-screen display with a pop-up front camera, while in the second case there is a punch-hole display. Make your choice depending on your tastes and needs.

Display

My favorite display belongs to the Redmi 10X and I think a lot of people would agree with me. It does not have a 90 Hz refresh rate like the Honor X10 and the Realme V5, but it is the only one with an AMOLED display and it even comes with the HDR10+ certification for better image quality. Last but not least, it has very high brightness, so it is visible under sunlight. With the Realme V5 and the Honor X10, you get an IPS display, but they have a high 90 Hz refresh rate which allows having a smoother viewing experience and better gameplay.

Specs & Software

One of the strongest points of the Redmi 10X is the hardware department: it has the most powerful chipset under the hood. We are referring to the Dimensity 820 boasting high CPU and GPU performance. The handset also packs up to 8 GB of RAM. But note that the Honor X10 is very close with its Kirin 820 5G; it does not seem a case that the two chipsets are identified by the same number. Unfortunately, the Realme V5 has an inferior Dimensity 720 SoC, so you will get inferior performances overall. Android 10 is installed out of the box in each case, with a customized user interface on top.

Camera

The most impressive camera department belongs to the Honor X10 which packs a great 40 MP main sensor for its rear camera setup. Right after, we got the Realme V5, at least on the paper. But we have to test it thoroughly in order to establish whether its camera is really valid: given that it went official today, we had no chance to do it. Redmi 10X has a similar camera department to the Realme V5, but it lacks the macro camera and it just comes with three sensors on the rear side.

Battery

The key feature of the Realme V5 is a huge 5000 mAh battery which will allow it to last a lot more than its rivals on a single charge. It even comes with a faster charging technology, with a power of 30W. Right after, we got the Redmi 10X with a 4520 mAh battery and an efficient AMOLED display.

Price

Realme V5 is priced just €183/$215 in its base variant and it wins the value for money comparison. Redmi 10X starts from €238/$280 and it offers a better display and better hardware, so it is slightly superior to its opponents overall. Honor X10 has better cameras and it sits in the middle in terms of hardware, but it starts from €271/$319.

3D renders provide first look at the Huawei Mate 40 and its pill-shaped punch hole

Earlier today, we learned that Huawei has postponed the launch of the Mate 40 series and will now launch by the end of October. That’s more than ten weeks away, but we don’t have to wait until then to see what the standard Mate 40 looks like. The popular leaker, Steve Hemmerstoffer a.k.a. OnLeaks has revealed what the upcoming flagship looks like.

The leaker has partnered with the blog HandsetExpert for the exclusive leak which doesn’t include a video this time around.

Huawei has made some significant changes to the design of the Mate series. The new Mate 40 will have a pill-shaped punch hole at the left corner of the display for two front-facing cameras. The cut-out looks longer and slimmer than that of the Huawei P40.

The Huawei Mate 40 has a curved display that measures 6.4-inches. At the top are a number of holes which include two for the microphones. There is a bigger one that appears to be an audio jack while another that is shaped like a pill might be the IR sensor.

Huawei has revamped the cookie camera housing for the Mate 40. Unlike that of the Mate 30 series that slopes, this one doesn’t. It is also much bigger but still houses three rear cameras. The position of the LED flash has remained unchanged.

The Mate 40 is shown to have a USB-C port at the bottom that is flanked by a speaker grille on one side and a microphone on the other. The dimensions of the phone are given as 158.6 x 72.5 x 8.9 mm (10.4mm with the camera bump).

When the Mate 40 launches, it will come with EMUI 11 out of the box along with HMS. It should also have support for fast wired and wireless charging, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and 5G.

Nokia C3 with a Unisoc chip,removable battery launched in China for 669 (~$95)

HMD Global went official with the Nokia C2 mobile phone in March this year. The entry-level smartphone made its entrance barely three months after the Nokia C1 was launched, that is in December 2019. Five months after, the company has now launched the Nokia C3 in China. The model is already listed on Jingdong and is available to preorder right away.

The Nokia C3 was spotted on the database of benchmarking app Geekbench over the weekend showing the presence of a Unisoc processor codenamed “GamoraPlus”. The entry-level mobile phone indeed makes an entry with an octa-core Unisoc processor clocked at 1.20GHz onboard. The processor is paired with 3GB of RAM and there is 32GB of storage which can be expanded via microSD card.

The Nokia C3 features a 5.99-inch LCD display with HD+ resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. The display doesn’t have any form of notch design but utilises the traditional bezels at the top and bottom edges which are trimmed down considerably. The top bezel holds the selfie camera and front speaker while the bottom bezel has the Nokia logo imprinted.

At the rear, the mobile phone packs a detachable plastic rear panel which has a single 8MP main camera housed in the same module with the LED flash. The phone equally has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor just under the camera. The phone runs on Android 10 OS and has the traditional micro-USB port for charging and data transfer. Other features onboard include a removable battery, 3.5mm audio jack, WiFi, Bluetooth, FM radio, dual SIM? dual standby, OTG support.

The Nokia C3 is priced at 669 yuan (~$95) and is available in Nordic Blue and Sand Gold colour schemes. There is no official word yet on when it will be released in other markets.

Xiaomi rolls out MIUI 12 stable update for Mi 8 Lite in China

Xiaomi has been continuously rolling out MIUI 12 update to eligible devices for months. Last week, the company began to seed out MIUI 12 stable update for its 2018 flagship, Mi 8 in China. Now, Mi 8 Lite, the toned-down version of this handset is getting a similar treatment.

Just like most Xiaomi/Redmi handsets, the MIUI 12 stable update for Mi 8 Lite comes with build number V12.0.1.0.QDTCNXM (via PiunikaWeb). Also, like other phones, the update is being rolled out in batches and therefore, it will take time to reach every unit.

As for features, since the device sports an LCD panel, it misses out on new AOD+ and Super Wallpapers. But it gets all other important goodies like Dark Mode 2.0, new Control Center, granular permissions, new animations, and more.

This smartphone was also made available in international markets like Europe upon release. But the MIUI 12 stable update rollout for the global variant is yet to begin. Similar story for the Mi 8 as well. Also, the latter will mostly get the update first in global markets like in China.

Further, since POCO F1 was launched around the same time as these two phones, we think it will be soon getting the MIUI 12 update as well.

Google says the Pixel 4A will hit India in October but no Pixel 4A 5G

Google earlier today announced the Pixel 4A alongside the Pixel 4A 5G and Pixel 5. While the 5G models will be available in the Fall, the Pixel 4A is already on preorder in the US and is billed to go on sale in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Japan, and Canada. While for the Indian market, the phone is said to go on sale in October.

Google did reveal some detail of the availability in India which is the world’s third-largest market after the US and China. Although the India pricing is yet to be announced, the company hinted the phone will not be available in India until October, two months from now.

According to Brian Rakowski, VP of Product Management at Google during the launch, “This year, Pixel 4a—which launches in India in October—will continue to bring features like the incredible camera and feature drops that make your phone better over time. All of this packaged in sleek new hardware at a more affordable price”.

The Google exec also disclosed that the India price for the Pixel 4A will be announced close to the October launch date. The company also disclosed that the mid-range phone will be sold exclusively on Flipkart.

In addition, Rakowski disclosed that the tech giant has got no plan to launch the two 5G models in India ever. In essence, the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4A 5G won’t be dropping in India at all. Well, except the company changes its mind due to market forces.

“Regarding the two new 5G Pixel phones that were announced globally today, these will not be available in India or Singapore, based on a variety of factors including local market trends and product features,” explains Rakowski.
