As a phone manufacturer, it is important to connect to your fans, and one of the ways to do that is to listen to their suggestions and feedback. Over the past couple of years, we have seen brands like OnePlus organize meetups (called Open Ears Forums) with its fans to talk about ideas for improving its current and future devices. Nokia Mobile India is borrowing a leaf from OnePlus with its design meetup.
The official Nokia Mobile India Twitter account has announced that it will be hosting a meetup on November 9 in New Delhi to talk about designing the future of Nokia smartphones. The tweet was retweeted by Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer of HMD Global.
The meetup series is called “Let’s Talk” and from the official press statement, we deduce there will be more events in the future.
For this edition, Nokia wants to know what you think about the “design of its smartphones and what they can do better, your ideas about where smartphone design is heading and what you want to see in Nokia smartphones”.
If you are willing to attend, do visit this link to register. If you get the chance to attend, your idea may make it to the next Nokia phone.

A new Xiaomi phone that has a model number M1910F4E has received certification from China’s Compulsory Certificate (CCC) body. It reveals that the smartphone may come equipped with a 30W fast charger. While there is no way to confirm it, it is being speculated that the M19104FE could be the next Mi CC9 phone.

A variant of the above mentioned phone was spotted at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) earlier this month. While the EEC appearance revealed M1910F4G model number, it did not confirm the name of the device. So, whether the M1910F4E/G phone is the upcoming Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro or another device is a mystery. Hopefully, the smartphone will soon surface on TENAA with its entire specs in the coming days.

At the start of this month, it was reported that the company has already sold over a million units of the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro since the phones went on sale in China on September 26. This is pretty impressive considering they achieved it in less than a week, and that’s not even the end of it.
Apparently, Huawei managed to reach this goal in the span of a three hours, as Richard Yu made the announcement during the opening of a Huawei flagship store in Shenzhen. Including the online orders, Huawei was bringing in CNY 500 million a minute, implying a rate of 100,000 sales per minute. Now those are some pretty big numbers.
It’s noteworthy that the Mate 30 series comes without support for Google apps and services. While it may be a big deal in other markets, it isn’t so in China where most Android phones don’t come pre-installed with Google Play Services.

It appears that the arrival of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T smartphone is drawing near. Yesterday, a tipster had shared the images of the rear panel of the smartphone. Now, the same leakster has shared leaked renders of the Redmi Note 8T that reveals it front and rear design. The Redmi Note 8T is identical with Redmi Note 8 phone.
In the below shown images, the Redmi Note 8T can be seen in Black and gradient colors of White and Blue. The rear side of the phone is fitted with a vertical quad camera system and a fingerprint scanner. The frontside of the phone is also similar to the Note 8 phone. It has a waterdrop notch on its display and the chin of the device is slightly thick compared to other bezels. The Redmi branding can be seen in the bottom bezel like the Note 8 smartphone.
The Redmi Note 8T was previously rumored to arrive with Snapdragon 730G processor. However, considering the fact that its no design is not different from the Redmi Note 8, it is unlikely that the Note 8T will come with a better processor. Moreover, the leakster has maintained that the Redmi Note 8T is same phone as Note 8 and the only major difference is that the ‘T’ variant comes with NFC connectivity. It is advisable to wait for further leaks to know more about the phone.
The Redmi Note 8 has a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display that offers full HD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The Snapdragon 665 chipset is the driving force of the smartphone. It can be purchased in 4 GB and 6 GB RAM editions and storage options like 64 GB and 128 GB. There is a microSD card slot onboard for more storage.
The rear shell of the Redmi Note 8T has a Sony IMX586 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad camera system. Placed on the frontside of the smartphone is a 13-megapixel selfie shooter. The MIUI 10 based Android 9 Pie OS runs on the device. The 4,000mAh battery of the Redmi Note 8T is backed by 18W fast charging technology. The phone comes in color editions like Neptune Blue, Morning White and Space Black.
Samsung had launched the Galaxy A80 smartphone in India in July this year for a price of ₹47,990 (~$676). Now, months after its launch, the company has announced a massive price cut of ₹8,000 (~$113), bringing the cost down to ₹39,990 (roughly $564).
The smartphone is now being sold at this new pricing through online stores such as Amazon and this new pricing is also applicable to the device being sold through offline channels in the country.
As for the specifications, the Samsung Galaxy A80 flaunts a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with New Infinity notch-less design. It offers a tall aspect ratio of 20:9 and carries support for 1080 x 2500 pixels Full HD+ resolution. The display of the smartphone is fitted with an in-screen fingerprint sensor for added security.
Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G 8nm octa-core processor which is clocked at 2.2GHz, coupled with Adreno 618 graphics. The phone comes packed with 8GB of RAM and has 128GB of internal storage.
It comes with a triple camera setup that includes an f/2.0 aperture 48-megapixel main lens, an f/2.2 aperture 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 3D ToF (Time of Flight) lens. There is no front-facing camera on the device. The rear positioned triple camera setup can move up at rotate to function as front-facing cameras for capturing selfies.
The phone is running Android 9 Pie operating system with the company’s own One UI on top. The South Korean company has included a 3,700mAh battery inside the Galaxy A80 along with support for 25W fast charging support.
The first thing that came to mind when referring to a thermal camera on a smartphone, was CAT S61/S60. That changed recently as Blackview announced the BV9800 Pro rugged outdoor smartphone that comes with a Thermal camera by FLIR® and boasts a Sony® 48MP camera. The feature went viral last month when the company started the “warm-up” marketing campaign. Almost 2 months later, someone would say that the Blackview BV9800 Pro is a late-comer but let’s see how both the smartphones stack up against each other.
Display & Design
The Blackview BV9800 Pro and the CAT S61 boast the most impressive design and build quality. Both phones boast excellent design and build quality and both have a super rugged body that is waterproof, drop-proof, and dustproof (IP68/IP69K/MIL-STD-810G certified). But when it comes to the display, the BV9800 Pro is a clear winner since it comes with a 6.3″ IPS FHD+ display with 19.5:9. On the other hand, the CAT S61 sports a smallish 5.2″ FHD IPS display with the classic 16:9 aspect ratio. The BV9800 Pro looks more fresh and modern thanks to its thin bezels and waterdrop notch while the CAT S61 looks like it came from the past (and it did).
Hardware & Software
If the design and display aren’t your first priorities when buying a rugged phone, then hardware and software definitely are, especially if you consider the price tag. Blackview’s phone is powered by a MediaTek chipset while the CAT S61 is fueled by a Qualcomm chipset. MediaTek’s Helio P70 8-core SoC runs @2.0GHz coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and the S61 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 8-core @2.2GHz backed by just 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The BV9800 Pro comes with Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box while S61 runs on Android Oreo, with an update to Pie. With these specs in mind, the BV9800 Pro is a clear winner both in hardware and software.
Camera
Moving on to the optics found in both phones, the brand-new Blackview phone comes with Sony’s popular 48MP sensor with night shot mode support as a part of a triple camera setup. The camera setup also includes a FLIR® Lepton® thermal imaging sensor and a 5MP sensor assisting with thermal imaging, with an extra flash. Also, there is a 16MP front shooter. The CAT S61 is apparently weaker in this part as it sports a 16MP single rear camera with dual LED flash and an 8MP front shooter.
Battery
Here things are even clearer, as BV9800 Pro houses an enormous 6580mAh battery with wireless charging support. That’s almost 47% bigger than the 4500mAh battery found in CAT S61. Both phones come with an 18W charger though.
Price
Blackview BV9800 Pro is a clear winner in all the factors that matter when it comes to a good user experience so the final factor is the price tag. Believe it or not, the Blackview BV9800 Pro boasts a price that is more than 50% less than that of the CAT S61. The price during the crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter is $429 while at the same time the S61 costs around $999! The Kickstarter campaign is in full swing and more than 700 backers have contributred over $290,000. Thanks to that support, the Super Early Bird and Early Bird offers have gone. The good news is Blackview has added a new perks scheme that is the following:
1. $699 for 1 x BV9800 Pro & 1 x BV9800, with a gift of 2*tempered screen protector & 2*Type-C adapter, limited to 100 2. $829 for 2 x BV9800 Pro, with a gift of 2*tempered screen protector & 2*Type-C adapter, limited to 100 3. Re-activate BV9800 Pro US$429 Early Bird offer, limited to 100 this time.
The electric blanket keeps up with the minimalist design for which Xiaomi’s products are known. It comes in two versions a graphene version and an electric heating wire version. It uses very low voltage power output of 24V, making it safe for use. The voltage rating is lower than 36V which the human body can still absolve.
Further, the smart electric blanket features a smart sleep mode which keeps the temperature at a dynamic level in sync with the body temperature. This ensures the user is kept warm all through the winter. It is available in two sizes; 80 x 150cm referred to as Single model and 150x170cm, referred to as Double model.
The electric blanket can be controlled via the XiaoAI voice assistant but also via the MIJIA app. Thus, you can remotely turn on the heated blanket while still on your way back home.
Pricing starts at 199 yuan ($28) for the electric wire pad with a single 80cm x 150cm size. The graphene pad version goes for 399 yuan ($56). The bigger pad gets a slightly higher price tag. The product is expected to start shipping in China on November 29. We doubt if it will be launched outside China.
