With the US-China trade war still going on, Chinese tech giant Huawei is still in the Entity List of the United States, effectively banning the company from doing business with the US-based companies. Because of this, Huawei is banned from using Google apps and services on its devices.
The recently launched Huawei Mate 30 series is the first set of devices from the Chinese giant to come without support for Google’s apps and services. While there’s a possibility that Huawei will get back access to the services of Google, the company has already announced its backup plan — HarmonyOS.
A couple of months ago, Huawei officially launched its much-awaited HarmonyOS which is meant to be the replacement for Android. While the proprietary OS is currently designed for devices like smart TV’s, wearables and in-car entertainment, but it is now set to power smartphones as well.
As per the reports, the company is now getting ready to load HarmonyOS on existing devices with dual boot support along with Android. However, the report says that things are in the early stages and Huawei has yet to choose which devices will be first. Huawei CEO has already hinted that P40 series smartphones will run this new operating system.
Once the company dual boots the OS, performance and compatibility results will be key deciding factors in deciding if the users are interested in a Huawei smartphone with both operating systems available. This could be a bit confusing and complicated for the regular issue but it remains to be seen how this idea works out.
Recently, a new report from Counterpoint claimed that the market share of HarmonyOS will reach 2 percent globally next year, making it the world’s fifth largest operating system, surpassing Linux. It further points that the share of HongMeng OS in China will reach 0.1 percent by the end of this year and 5 percent by the end of next year.
HarmonyOS, announced earlier this year in August, can support a wide range of applications including Android, Linux, and HTML5 in the future. The new operating system uses Huawei’s ARK compiler and will support Kotlin, Java, Javascript, C, and C++ programming languages. It will also have a verified Trusted Execution Environment for a better connected security across multiple devices.
Huawei had said that it began working on this operating system back in 2017 and is currently in version 1.0 with Version 2.0 scheduled for launch next year and version 3.0 release is planned for the year 2021.

Recent reports have revealed that Vivo’s iQOO gaming smartphone wing is gearing up to introduce a new smartphone. Rumors are rife that it could be called iQOO Lite or iQOO Neo Pro and it has a model number of V1936A. A new Weibo post by iQOO teases the arrival of the upcoming iQOO phone. The V1936A smartphone has also been benchmarked on AnTuTu through which its key specs have been leaked.
At the end of the previous month, a Chinese tipster had claimed an iQOO phone with support for 33W fast charging could be arriving in the near future. Next, the Vivo V1936A phone was spotted on the database of China’s 3C authority with a charger that supported up to 33W fast charging. Hence, it is being speculated that the alleged iQOO Lite has V1936A model number.
A Geekbench listing of the Vivo V1936A was spotted last week. It revealed that the Android 9 Pie OS driven phone has Snapdragon 855 chipset and 8 GB of RAM onboard. It had recorded 3516 and 11262 scores respectively in the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench.
Today, the Vivo V1936A iQOO phone has surfaced on AnTuTu. The listing again confirms that the phone has SD855 processor and 8 GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 256 GB. The display of the phone supports 1080 x 2340 pixels and it is preinstalled with Android 9 Pie OS.
In the CPU, GPU, memory and UX tests of AnTuTu, the new iQOO phone has respectively scored 146,594, 176,913, 93,243 and 60,266. AnTuTu claims that the phone could be equipped with UFS 3.0 storage. It has recorded a remarkable average benchmarking score of 477,016. The score is impressive as it promises to deliver a performance that is similar to Snapdragon 855+ powered Vivo NEX 3 5G and iQOO Pro 5G phones that are leading AnTuTu’s September list of top performing smartphones in China.
The purported iQOO Lite smartphone is expected to arrive with a waterdrop notch enabled OLED display and in-display fingerprint reader. It is expected to house a 4,500mAh battery. Hopefully, the smartphone will be appearing with all its specifications on TENAA in the near future. Now that the company has officially started teasing the smartphone, it may go official by the end of October.
After months of teasing, leaks, and rumors, Google finally launched the all-new Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL flagship smartphones at a press event in New York. However, the smartphones won’t get launched in India — one of the leading smartphone markets in the world.
The major reason behind Google not launching the newly announced Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL in India is a new feature on the device named Project Soli. It is a radar-based motion-sensing chip integrated into the smartphones that uses 60GHz mmWave frequency band.
While Google has managed to get required permission to use the above mentioned frequency bands in several countries, India is not in the list. As per the report, the company failed to secure permission from the local authority in India to use this frequency band, which the nation has yet to open for commercial usage.
In a statement, a Google spokesperson said, “Google has a wide range of products that we make available in different regions around the world. We determine availability based on a variety of factors, including local trends, and product features. We decided not to make Pixel 4 available in India. We remain committed to our current Pixel phones and look forward to bringing future Pixel devices to India.”
The radar sensors on the new Pixel smartphones enable support for a number of human interactions. Sabrina Ellis, VP of Product Management at Google, claimed that Pixel 4 has the fastest secure face unlock on a smartphone, “because the process starts before you have even picked up the smartphone.” She further added that Motion sense prepares the camera when user reaches for the Pixel 4, thus there’s no need to tap the screen. It also enables hands-free gesture controls on the smartphone.
It’s noteworthy that this is the first time Google is skipping the launch of Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL smartphones in India. Prior to this, all the Nexus series phones and Pixel series phones had made their way to to the Indian market, days after their global launch.
The Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are available in Just Black, Clearly White, and Oh So Orange (Limited Edition) color options. While the Pixel 4 is priced at $799 for the 64GB version and $899 for the 128GB version, the XL variant is priced at $899 for the 64GB version and $999 for the 128GB variant. The phones are now up for pre-order and will start shipping from 21st October.
At the end of September, a leaked invite had revealed that Meizu will be announcing the Meizu 16T flagship smartphone on Oct. 23. However, there was no official confirmation on it from the company. The smartphone is expected to release in storage options such as 128 GB and 256 GB. There is no support for microSD card slot on the device. The AnTuTu appearance of the smartphone had revealed that it recorded an impressive average benchmarking score of 418K+.
The Meizu 16T runs on Android 9 Pie OS. Hopefully, it will come with the latest Flyme 8 UI. The back panel of the phone is fitted with a 12-mgeapixel + 8-megapixel + 5-megapixel triple camera system. The slim-sized top bezel of the phone has a 16-megapixel selfie shooter. The handset houses a 4,000mAh battery that is equipped with support for rapid charging.
TENAA revealed that the phone may arrive in colors like blue-black, green and orange-red in China. Ahead of the launch, the pre-orders of the smartphone have started on a Chinese retailer site with a price tag of 2,499 Yuan (~$352) for its 128 GB storage variant.

Oppo just launched its sub-brand Realme in the European market. And at the same time, the sub-brand even launched its first flagship: it is Realme X2 Pro and it is one of the best flagship-killers of 2019. Carrying a midrange price tag, it offers the best hardware department you can expect from a 2019 flagship. For this reason, we decided to compare it with the smartphone which we believe is the top flagship killer in Europe before the launch of Realme X2 Pro. We are talking about the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, also known in China as the Redmi K20 Pro. After reading this comparison, you will learn which one offers the highest value for money.

Design
Realme X2 Pro adopts a classic waterdrop design, so it is nothing special if we only consider the aesthetics. But it still offers a premium build quality due to its glass back paired with an aluminum frame. But Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro has a more innovative and beautiful form factor that consists of a notch-less display and a motorized pop-up front camera. Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is even a more compact handset than X2 Pro, that is what makes me prefer it even more. On the other hand, Realme X2 Pro comes with a taller aspect ratio and a glass back which I consider slightly more elegant. But it is all about taste.
Display
Despite the affordable price, Oppo decided to equip the Realme X2 Pro with a flagship-class display. The handset boasts a 90 Hz refresh rate just like a top-tier flagship, the support to HDR10+ technology and even full DCI-P3 coverage. Just in case it is not enough, its peak brightness is astonishing: it reaches up to 1000 nits. There is no way for Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro to compete, but it still has a pretty nice display with the support of the standard HDR technology. Note that Realme X2 Pro offers a taller aspect ratio, but the display size is more or less the same. Both have an optical in-display fingerprint reader.
Specs & Software
Realme X2 Pro beats Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro again when it comes to the hardware side. It is fueled by the successor of the Snapdragon 855 chipset found on the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, so it is a lot more powerful. We are talking about the Snapdragon 855+ which comes with a higher 2.96 GHz clock frequency and offers 15 percent higher graphics performance. Further, in its two most expensive variants, the X2 Pro offers faster UFS 3.0 storage, while Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. X2 Pro also comes in a version with 12 GB of RAM, unlike the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. A lot of people prefer the user interface of the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro to the Color OS found on the Realme X2 Pro, but we think it is a compromise you can accept for such a hardware department. Another better feature of the Realme X2 Pro is its dual speakers with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res ratio (Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro has a traditional mono speaker).
Camera
On the paper, Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro offers a higher-end camera module. It sports laser autofocus and a Sony 48 MP sensor paired with a telephoto lens and an ultrawide lens. X2 Pro offers one more camera (the depth sensor) but likely it will never reach the same photo quality as the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. Realme X2 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro are not high-end camera phones, despite their high resolutions. If you want the best cameras, you should not go for these devices, despite you can get decent shots in low-light conditions and a lot of detail.
Both Realme X2 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro have the same battery capacity and components with similar energy consumption, so it is very hard to establish which one may offer the longest battery life. It will mostly depend on software optimization. Realme X2 Pro has a much faster charging technology: it charges up to 80 percent in just 30 minutes thanks to its 50W SuperVOOC flash charge technology. And it is one of the fastest charging phones ever launched in the European market.
Price
With a bit of luck, you can find the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro in Europe at just €350 in its base variant. Realme X2 Pro will hit the shelves in November with a €399 starting price. Despite it will cost more, X2 Pro is a way better phone with better hardware and display, so we suggest you spend those €50 more and go for the Realme X2 Pro. The 128 and 256 GB configurations are even more recommended since they have UFS 3.0 internal storage instead of UFS 2.1. So if you can afford at least the 128 GB version, then you will make an even better purchase. X2 Pro wins the comparison.

The Google Home Mini finally has a successor but it isn’t called the Home Mini 2 but the Nest Mini. While the name is different, the design hasn’t technically changed.
The Nest Mini has the same round design as the Home Mini. Its dimensions are even the same but that doesn’t mean there are no changes at all.
First, the Nest Mini now has a hole in the back which will let you hang it on a wall. It also comes in a new blue color called Sky alongside the Home Mini’s Coral, Chalk, and Charcoal. Google has also revealed that the fabric covering the speaker is now made from recycled plastic.
Coming to features, the Nest Mini has 40% stronger bass than the Home Mini. It also has better voice recognition. Google has also brought back capacitive buttons which will light up when it senses you are close. You will be able to increase and reduce the volume by tapping the right and left sides as well as pause and resume playing by tapping the middle of the speaker. Of course, the Nest Mini can control your smart home appliances, stream music, play podcasts and answer questions.
The Nest Mini also has an improved “brain” which learns your most frequent commands and allows them to be run locally on the device rather than sending them to Google’s servers first.

The Nest Mini will keep the $49 launch price of the Home Mini but expect it to sell for less during sales. It should also be included as a free gift with certain purchases or subscriptions just like Google has done with the Home Mini in some cases. It will be available for purchase beginning October 22.

Google announced a new pair of earphones today. The biggest change in the new Pixel Buds (yes, Google is sticking to the same name as its 2017’s Bluetooth wireless earphones which by the way have now been listed as “No longer available” on the Google Store), is the switch to a truly wireless design.
The Pixel Buds have ditched the connecting braided cable of their predecessor and are now fully and truly wireless. We will say the decision to cut the cord better late than never. Last month Amazon launched its own truly wireless earbuds called the Echo Buds and Apple has released its second-generation AirPods with proof of a third-gen model circulating already.
The earbuds feature custom-designed 12 mm drivers, built-in sensors that automatically detect when you are talking, and microphones that help with noise cancelation. They come in a white case with black rubber seals that are visible even when closed. The case charges via USB Type-C and also wirelessly.
The earbuds are designed to have a secure fit and earbuds that seal the ears but they also have what is called an ambient vent that keeps you connected to the outside world. The buds have what is called adaptive sound which automatically adjusts the volume based on where you are.
The Pixel Buds are sweat and water-resistant, have real-time translation built-in, and of course, have Google Assistant too. The buds will last 5 hours on a single charge and provide up to 24 hours of usage with the case.

Chuwi released its new 2in1 tablet, UBook Pro, on Indiegogo and according to the company it is a very powerful all-around machine. It is mainly designed for office work as well as students, it comes with a 12.3″ IPS display and 3:2 screen ratio as well as the Intel Core M3-8100Y CPU that allows a 50% performance boost over the previous UBook. But how powerful is it when benchmarked? Let’s see in the benchmark test we conducted recently.
CPU-Z
We used the CPU-Z application to see the specs of CPU and do a benchmark test. As you can see, it comes with the already mentioned Intel m3 8100Y. The processor is made using the 14nm manufacturing process and it’s a dual core/4-thread CPU. It’s frequency can go up to 3.4GHz and it achieved a single-core score of 283.5 and a multi-core score of 800.9.
GeekBench 4
To continue, we ran the GeekBench 4 test where the UBook Pro achieved a single-core score of 3731 and a multi-core score of 6115, consistent with the performance we already shaw in the CPU-Z test.
Cinebench R15
After the first two tests, it was time to test the GPU too. For that reason, Cinebench R15 was chosen as it is a comprehensive CPU and GPU performance testing software. It tests CPU and graphics card performance by rendering high-precision images and 3D graphics based on the Cinem4D engine. In this test, the UHD Graphics 615 that is the embedded GPU scored 96cb and 27.18fps. That’s not bad but there’s no comparison between an embedded GPU and a dedicated one.
AS SSD Benchmark
Then, we tested the SSD speed in order to define how it compares against other solutions in laptops. The UBook Pro achieved a continuous read and write speed of 480.61MB/s and 372.74MB/s respectively which might be more than five times the speed of the traditional HDD but it falls a bit short when compared to other commercial solutions. Definitely, you are not going to experience any slow-downs attributed to the SSD so you shouldn’t be worried about not getting the top speeds out there.
Chuwi UBook Pro Actual experience
1 of 2
Besides the test through benchmarks, the overall user experience was excellent during the time we got our hands on it. It can easily deal with daily office, learning and entertainment need and if you are desperate to use Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, etc, it will do the job but much slower than media editing professional laptops. What’s more, you can even enjoy some gaming like Tomb Raider and Metro with decent performance and graphics quality but gaming isn’t what this device was made for.
To conclude, combining the benchmark results with the actual user experience we can say that the Chuwi UBook Pro is definitely a good choice at its price range since it manages to balance between performance and pricing perfectly. Also, the fact that it is a 2in1 device is a huge advantage over traditional laptops. UBook Pro is currently in the process of crowdfunding on indiegogo. OnePlus unveiled its first smart TV models – OnePlus TV Q1 and Q1 Pro in India last month. The premium smartphone maker spared no thought in gunning for the premium smart TV segment as the two models come with a 55-inch QLED display panel with a sleek minimalist design. The display panel holds a high-screen ratio thanks to the near bezel-less design. The OnePlus TV models also debut with Quantum dot color and support both Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The company says the TV’s color range is best-in-class among QLED competitors. Xiaomi may be looking to head in that direction as a recent survey by the company suggests.
The Weibo survey which is still ongoing as at press time is being conducted by Xiaomi’s TV GM who wanted to find out from fans which features they want to see upgraded. The options are Industrial design, Picture quality, Sund quality and System content. Obviously, most of the 2848 respondents selected picture quality.
Of coure, Xiaomi has got rich content for its TV. The sound quality and build quality are also high. We may see some improved models soon with QLED display panel capable of 8K resolution and more features. At present, the only high-end model from Xiaomi is the Mural TV which uses a Samsung 4k panel. A moe to launch smart TVs with premium quality and ricing will be to consolidate this grip of the market as Xiaomi sits at the number one spot in the TV segment in China and India.
We are heading towards winter season and so it is not unusual to see companies release products that serve the need of staying warm during the cold weather. Xiaomi’s ecological chain company Smartmi has just launched a new electric heater for the home. The Smartmi Electric Heater 1s is a smart version of the regular heater and will sell for just 499 yuan (~$70). This is almost twice the cost of the ordinary version which launched for 299 yuan ($43) in December 2018. This model was first launched under crowdfunding in November last year but the massive 3385% support ensured the company had to delay the release.
The Smartmi Electric Heater 1s comes with an upgraded 72 high-efficiency aluminium sheet heating body with heat dissipation area up to 4500 square centimetres. The gadget uses a dragon ridge arrangement that is more conducive to airflow. It also comes with a 2200W high power rating which can heat up the room very fast. The temperature can be adjusted between the range of 16-28 °C. It equally comes with a built-in dual temperature sensor which smartly maintains the constant temperature. When the ambient temperature reaches the preset value, the automatic low-power operation maintains the constant temperature state. If the ambient temperature drops, the device adjusts the heater gets adjusted automatically. and the lower temperature automatically increases the temperature.
The product is manufactured by Smartmi technology and is tipped to be capable of heating up the air inside the house such that the density becomes different from that of cold air. This difference in density creates a convection effect and thus, stimulates the circulation of the air in order to heat up the home. Compared with the traditional radiation-based electric heater, this new product has the advantages of rapid heating and low drying, and the user feels more comfortable when using it.
In addition, the gadget also supports a more precise temperature regulation and also has a constant temperature function. This function will come in handy to enable heat to reach areas with insufficient heating. Obviously, this function is extremely user-friendly in areas with insufficient heating, and it is also very helpful for reducing power consumption.
The device comes with a built-in WiFi module which means users can control the gadget through the MIJIA App or XiaoAI smart assistant. Thus, you can remotely switch it on while at work so as to heat up the home before you get there. This will also afford users the opportunity to stay in bed and control the electric heater without having to step down. The app can also be used to adjust the heating temperature and set other features like child lock etc.
The smart heater also comes with an LED touchscreen display where parameters such as temperature, timing, backlight brightness, etc can be adjusted. The electric heater has a protection rating of up to IPX4 which means it is splash-proof. The internal fully enclosed structure and special drainage channel design provide more complete protection. The heat sink is completely isolated from the power supply board, and the circuit is more secure.
